"At a time when students had to fasten their collars and crease their slacks till they're razor sharp, these four friends strutted around in their own custom-fashioned uniforms. They walked the streets with their heads held high, shoulders straight, and chests out, fearing nothing when they were together. Joon-suk, a son of a vigilant gang boss; Dong-su, the only son of an undertaker; Sang-taek, a diligent student; Joong-ho, who never keeps his mouth shut. Those are the gang of friends who share their fantasies about naked woman on the porn magazine and their awe at Bruce Lee's Kungfu. Each of their lives takes different turns as they grow up and their paths cross in conflict with each other's. Joon-suk becomes the leading henchman of his father's crime ring and Dong-su is serving for Joon-suk's rival gangs. Sang-taek and Joong-ho find themselves helplessly watching their two best friends wield knives at each other..."

News about this drama was revealed by movie director Kwak Kyung Taek at the press conference of his other movie, Eye for Eye Tooth for Tooth today 2 July 2008.

The casting is for Hyun Bin to play in the drama Jang Dong Gun's role in the movie, while Kim Min Joon plays Yoo Oh Sung's role.

곽경택 감독은 근황을 묻는 질문에 “현재 영화 ‘친구’를 드라마로 만드는 작업을 하고 있다”며 “장동건이 맡았던 역에는 현빈, 유오성이 맡았던 역에는 김민준이 현재 캐스팅 된 상태”라는 사실을 밝혔다.

The report used past tense, so has been cast, I think.

The script has already been written for up to Ep 10 and will be completed by end July 2008. Filming would take place in Busan. The TV station to broadcast this drama has not been decided yet.

영화 '친구' 드라마로 제작, 현빈-김민준 출연 예정

영화 '친구'가 TV드라마로 제작된다. 이르면 내년 상반기에 안방극장에서 영화 '친구'의 감동을 다시 한 번 느낄 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

'친구'의 곽경택 감독은 2일 오후 서울 소공동 롯데호텔에서 열린 영화 '눈에는 눈 이에는 이' 제작보고회에 참석해 "현재 영화 '친구'를 TV드라마로 만드는 작업을 하고 있다. 그래서 요즘 그 준비때문에 부산에 많이 있다"고 깜짝 발언을 해 눈길을 끌었다.

곽 감독은 "빠르면 올해 말, 늦어도 내년 초에는 크랭크 인이 될 것"이라며 "아직 방송국은 협의되지 않았지만, 16부작으로 생각하고 있다. 현재 10회까지 대본이 완성됐고, 다음달 정도에는 완결될 것으로 보인다. 100% 사전제작이다"고 설명했다.

영화 '친구'는 전국 800만 이상 관객을 동원한 흥행 대작. 유오성, 장동건 등 주연배우들이 펼치는 남자들만의 우정은 중장년층의 향수를 자극시키며 스크린으로 발길을 이끌었던 작품이다. 또 영화 작품으로는 이례적으로 수많은 유행어를 탄생시켜 개그 소재로 활용되는 등 현재까지도 사람들의 입에 오르내리고 있다.

특히 외모에 가려져 연기력을 제대로 평가받지 못했던 장동건은 '친구'를 통해 연기력과 대중성을 겸비한 배우로 발돋움했고, 유오성 역시 최소 스타로 올라섰다. 때문에 영화 속 유오성 역할과 장동건 역할을 누가 맡을지에 관심이 쏠렸다. 곽 감독은 "장동건 역할은 현빈, 유오성 역할은 김민준이 하기로 했다"고 밝혔다.

개봉 당시 영화는 18세 이상 관람가로 폭력적이고 자극적인 장면들이 다수 등장한다. 때문에 드라마에서 영화 속 장면을 재현하기엔 무리가 따른다.

이 에 곽 감독은 "영화 '친구'가 가지고 있는 가장 큰 정서는 향수다. 향수를 최대한 살려서 드라마로 만들 계획이다"며 "영화가 보여주지 못했던 에피소드가 추가될 것 같다"고 말했다. 영화에서 다하지 못했던 이야기들이 드라마에서 그려질 전망이다.

대한민국 영화계에 흥행돌풍을 몰고 왔던 영화 ‘친구’가 안방극장을 찾는다.

2일 진행된 영화 ‘눈에는 눈 이에는 이’ 제작발표회에서 곽경택 감독은 "영화 ‘친구’가 곧 드라마로 만들어져 안방극장 시청자들을 찾는다"고 밝혔다.

곽경택 감독은 근황을 묻는 질문에 “현재 영화 ‘친구’를 드라마로 만드는 작업을 하고 있다”며 “장동건이 맡았던 역에는 현빈, 유오성이 맡았던 역에는 김민준이 현재 캐스팅 된 상태”라는 사실을 밝혔다.

드 라마로 만들어질 ‘친구’에서 특별하게 담아내고 싶은 것을 묻자 곽경택 감독은 “무엇보다 친구가 갖고 있는 건 향수다. 이번에도 최대한 향수를 살려낼 것이다”며 이번 드라마 역시 영화에 이어 부산에서 로케이션이 진행될 것으로 연말이나 내년 초에 촬영을 시작해 100% 사전 제작될 것이라고 했다.

곽경택 감독은 드라마 ‘친구’는 16부작으로 만들어 낼 것이라는 계획을 밝히며 현재 10부작까지 대본 작업이 이뤄진 상태로 영화에서 미처 다 보여주지 못한 에피소드들을 추가해 담을 예정이라고 했다.

　지난 2001년 전국 818만 관객을 동원한 영화 '친구'가 드라마로 제작된다． 곽경택 감독이 직접 시나리오를 쓰고 있는 '친구'의 드라마 버전은 '친구, 그 못다한 이야기'(가제)다． 장동건 역은 한류스타 현빈이, 유오성 역은 김민준이 각각 캐스팅 됐으며 올 하반기 제작해 내년 상반기에 전파를 탈 예정이다．

　 곽경택 감독은 2일 오후 서울 소공동 롯데호텔에서 열린 영화 '눈에는 눈 이에는 이' 제작보고회 및 기자간담회에서 "차기작은 드라마로 선택했다"며 "영화 '친구'를 드라마로 제작한다． 100% 사전제작형식으로 진행되며, 16부 가운데 10부 정도 대본이 나왔다． 이달 안에 시나리오를 완성할 계획이며, 아직 방송국은 정해지지 않았다"고 밝혔다．

　'꽃미남'에 불과했던 장동건을 배우로 인정받게 한 '친구'는 역대 한국영화 흥행 순위 5위에 들었을 만큼 많은 사랑을 받았다． 영화속 실제 주인공들이 자신들을 소재로 한 영화가 흥행에 성공하자 곽 감독에게 수차례 금품을 요구해 실형을 선고받아 사회적으로도 이슈가 됐다． 당시 영화는 18세 이상 관람가에 자극적이고 폭력적인 장면들이 많이 담겨있어 드라마 '친구'의 내용이 어떤 식으로 풀릴지 관심이 집중되고 있다． 드라마 가제를 '친구, 그 못다한 이야기'로 정한 만큼 영화 '친구'의 실제 주인공과 곽 감독의 관계 등 영화속 비하인드 스토리가 다뤄질지도 관심사다．

　이에 곽 감독은 "영화 '친구'가 갖고있는 가장 큰 정서는 향수다． 향수를 최대한 살려서 만들 계획"이라면서 "영화가 보여주지 못했던 에피소드가 추가될 것 같다． 아직까지 마무리 단계라 구체적인 말은 할 수 있다"며 말을 아꼈다．
