@syntyche thanks chingu for your recap and comments:)

    PERSONAL TASTE –EPISODE 5

They show their affection (still platonic) in very different ways—Kae-in wanting to let Jin-ho be himself around her, Jin-ho wanting for Kae-in to value herself—but both are finding a home in each other that they desperately needed.- girlfriday

The drunk scene was hilariously over-exaggerated that they ended up sleeping together in the same bed. Of course nothing happened and according to her, he’s gay and he wouldn’t be interested in women. But then, it was a scene that tickled my imagination.  BTW, drunk Jinho is so adorable.

The rest of the episode was focused mainly on Jinho mentoring Kae In to become a desirable woman. My favorite part would be the lesson on balance where she was supposed to walk on the line elegantly with a glass cup on her head. And when she broke the cup,  he cleaned it up  remembering  that she got cuts when she cooked for him. Kae In found this gesture to be very touching and said ‘let’s be friends for a long time’.:)

But the most hilarious part for me was where Sang Jun acted as Jinho’s lover as it was the only way Jinho won’t get kicked out of Sanggojae. Sang Jun pounding on the door calling Jinho ‘honey’ and his gesture with that flailing hand, had me laughing nonstop.:D

SJ:           Honey, let’s talk for a little while longer.

JH:          No, I don’t want to.

SJ:           Honey! Honey! My honey is so cruel.

    Spoiler

    QtPosTO.gif

The two women  were worried and anxious about the split between the couple and  were literally glued to the door.

When Kae In apologetically knelt before Jinho  for mentioning his sexual orientation,  he softened up a bit; in fact, he smiled when she was acting cute; I found this to be an interesting development. And did you notice him becoming nervous when she was intimate  with him?

Their conversation about Kae In’s memories of her mother was an emotional one. She rested her head on his shoulder and said ‘welcome to my house’.  And he looked away as he felt a bit awkward; yet he was happy to have consoled her.

    OdQhxIk.jpg

SYJ is a very pretty actress and she was made to look less attractive for her character in PT. Kae In’s makeover didn’t turn out to be great as I expected. However, considering her appearance in the first few episodes with  messy hair, Coke -bottle glasses and huge overalls, this was a great improvement. Thanks to Jinho, she was able to claim her hidden beauty and make Chang Ryul regret losing a woman like her.

And @CarolynH  thank you chingu for your recap & comments :). Here are my thoughts on:

    PERSONAL TASTE- EPISODE 4

I have read that, in Korea, prejudice and confusion lead most male homosexuals to be estranged from their families, religious communities  and non –homosexual peers. Taking this into account, I liked how Kae In is open-minded and impartial towards Jinho’s supposed homosexuality. She even wanted  to watch ‘Brokeback Mountain’ with him  in order to befriend him and understand his loneliness. Haha.

Jinho however, was infuriated with Kae In’s insane remarks.

    Spoiler

    Spoiler

She was adorable though, cooking  for him to make up for her insolence. I enjoyed their bonding  while watching TV together, bickering in their own unique way. It was nice how she treated him like one of her girl pals, opening up to him about her childhood.  But the cuteness of their companionship didn’t last long.

    Spoiler

Yep, the food poisoning; wasn’t that embarrassing for Jinho to suffer in a public toilet when he always exuded a cool, perfectionist image? I’m surprised that he ate all of the oysters she cooked for him, being a picky eater. His facial expressions and the way he smashed the wall with his fist were hilarious.:D

Another funny moment was when Kae In said that they shared an indirect kiss when they ate off the same spoon.

    Spoiler

But my favorite scene was where she vented her anger on him by pounding at his chest after meeting Chang Ryul and both of them were in tears. Why was he annoyed that she met her ex-boyfriend? Was he jealous? Or was he mad at her that all her sufferings were caused by her own shortcomings?

    PERSONAL TASTE-EPISODE 3

We start off with the catfight between the two women and Kae In’s outburst involving Jinho’s sexual orientation. Greatly insulted by this, Jinho packs his belongings and immediately leaves Sanggojae. The next morning at office he looks so dejected and Sang Jun asks him what’s wrong.  But Jinho just cannot bring himself to talk about Kae In‘s misconception even with his best friend. So, he suggests that they should try to win the project with their own strength.

    Spoiler

    xZ5Pydr.jpg

Kae in pays a visit to Jinho’s office and persuades him to come back home. She apologizes for her careless remarks and presents him with a gift; two miniature models. Well, he’s not going to change his mind but appreciates her farewell gift.

At the museum, an argument erupts between Jinho and Chang Ryul and it almost ends in a fistfight. Chang Ryul vows to completely crush Jinho at the next competition. However, Jinho  manages to attack the Hans with the most perfect words, telling them to fight fair and square.  Director Choi, who watches this exchange from a distance, is impressed with Jinho.

    Spoiler

    T1zsviM.jpg

Meanwhile Jinho’s company enters into dangerous waters as their contractor flees the country leaving him debt- ridden and his construction workers become injured. He realizes that, compared to the dire situation of his company, being misunderstood to be a gay person is nothing.

Yess, much to Kae In’s delight Jinho returns to Sanggoje and he insists that her pigsty of a house must be thoroughly cleaned. He also demands that his sexual orientation must never be brought up again.  Jinho is a clean freak so he buys the supplies himself and cleans the house in a frenzy.

After an intense day of cleaning Jinho takes a shower ; Kae In also accidentally heads to the bathroom at the same time only to get an eyeful of naked Jinho. :blush:He’s shocked in disbelief and she quickly retreats but pops her head back to assure him that she didn’t see anything because her contacts are not in.

    zHuuPxz.gif

He believes her words but later that night his sleep is invaded by loud whispers between the two women.

KI: Aigoo, I didn’t have my contacts in but I still saw all there was to see.

Oops, she saw everything. And then she goes on to explain Young Sun, the details of what she saw, completely insulting his manhood.

    Spoiler

(The shower scene starts at 6.13 mts)

Jinho hears that his mom has gone missing so he goes to find her at a particular restaurant. She worriedly reminisces their past when his father was still alive and he assures her that he will get back the house that Han family took away from them.

    saULv4m.jpg

And well, there is a second bathroom scene. Jinho hears a scream from the bathroom when he returns home. He thoughtlessly makes a dash thinking that Kae In is in trouble only to find her wrapped in a towel. At first she is shocked but later she realizes that he’s gay so he doesn’t have any interest in women’s bodies. So she asks him to help her locate her contacts. Things become awkward for Jinho when she carelessly waggles her body parts into his face. On top of that she slips and he catches her. He does find the contact off her collarbone but it is a moment of awkwardness.:)

    Spoiler

    zT9skop.jpg

Kae In’s tummy growls and she suggests going out together and eating. Jinho is not interested so she follows him around the house and begs him to go eat with her.  He stops and turns unexpectedly and she runs into his chest. She leans on to him and takes a sniff of his chest. She desperately wants to eat and offers to buy food saying that it’s a roommate bonding activity. Finally, he reluctantly gives in.

    Spoiler

    sNiGrIc.jpg

At the restaurant, Kae In gets drunk and starts jabbering nonsense and Jinho spots director Choi also entering the same place. He becomes uncomfortable so he asks Kae In to quickly finish eating so that they can leave. When she goes to the restroom he gets another drink from a flirtatious ahjumma and alas her husband happens to be big, violent dude. He confronts Jinho for trying to seduce his wife and calls him a gigolo. But before he gets into trouble Kae In returns and tries to defend him and then yells out loudly ‘THIS MAN IS GAAYY’, drawing the attention of everyone. Jinho is embarrassed especially because director Choi sees everything.:(

    Spoiler

Walking home, Kae In apologizes to Jinho  and sobs and says that she did it out of concern for him. And then she falls asleep on a park bench and Jinho walks off leaving her there. Feeling bad for her, he returns to fetch her and while trying to yank her up her bad ankle sprains again: there is no alternative so he carries her on his back. Kae In starts singing in excitement and her wild movements make it difficult for him to carry her. Then she calms down and tells him that his back is really warm and that even her father hasn’t carried her on his back.

    IKbAczm.jpg

At home, Kae In’s ankle starts acting up again so she begs for a massage. She enjoys the leg massage complete with horny moans and groans which makes Jinho uncomfortable. Grudgingly he says that he’s not her servant boy. Finally he’s fed up and calls it a night but not before she gives him a thumbs-up saying “NEW GAY BOARDER, YOU ROCK:D

    My comments

Episode 3 is by far the best and I had a good laugh while writing the recap. I really liked how this episode kept me entertained with Jinho and Kae In’s coupley behavior and that accidental shower encounter was just the icing on the cake.

    Spoiler

    1dd00sP.jpg

    gnzvima.jpg

    EojlVQO.jpg

I cracked up after reading this comment on DB recap by Girlfriday:

Sista, why would you need a bathroom-entry warning system with a roommate like Min-ho? I would just take the door off its hinges.

I also liked the quieter moments between them. Their conversation while she was playing with the doll house was an emotional one. He became broody after realizing that she had a painful past, involving her mother.

The piggyback ride symbolized their growing affection.  Kae in was too drunk and she couldn’t walk because of her bad ankle. Although she didn’t realize it, Jinho proved that he was a man by carrying her on his back all the way home. She compared Jinho’s back with her father’s and began to respect him for his paternal qualities and from then on he appeared trustworthy, protecting and caring, like a father. We could see his anger slowly fading and he was willing to bear her burdens for her.

Liked how Jinho had a unique relationship with his mother and because he lost his father at a very young age he knew her joys and sorrows more than anyone else. Knowing that our Minho in real life is also a mama’s boy, I really liked that similarity with Jinho’s character in PT.

As for Minho’s acting, I could already see him stirring up good chemistry with SYJ. His comic scenes with both SYJ and JSH are really entertaining plus he’s a HAWT, especially in that shower scene.  Haha, I loved his disgruntled, shocked expression every time she insulted him. And I saw a different light in his eyes in the piggyback ride and the doll house scene, acknowledging his strange landlady for the first time and trying to endure everything.

    PERSONAL TASTE -EPISODE 2

The scene where  Kae In was crossing the road in a daze sobbing endlessly was really sad. However, seeing her happily eating bibimbap at home after everything that she went through that day, made me laugh.

    RYrIBYA.jpg

The misconception about the two men was further solidified by their  hanky-panky  right in Kae In’s own home. She felt sorry  about Sang Jun as she had seen how Jinho heartlessly dumped his ex, a few days earlier.:D

The most hilarious part for me was how she threatened Jinho with a chainsaw when he got caught snooping into blueprints in her daddy’s office.  He squealed in fear and ran away when she showed up like a ghost and gave the chainsaw a good revving, reminding him of the punishment applicable to trespassers. Haha, curiosity killed the cat.:D

Jinho’s face at the end of the episode is priceless; his eyes widened and mouth agape. In Hee can’t seduce him because he’s GAAYY. LOL:lol:

    zhZATdf.jpg

Episode 2 brought Jinho and Kae In to live together and I cannot wait for them to fall in love and do the things like cooking, shopping and facials, together.:)

  5. @CarolynH Thanks chingu for that excellent recap.:)Here are my thoughts on:

    PERSONAL TASTE EPISODE  1

Lee Minho is not my Gu Jun Pyo anymore; still I found Jeon Jinho to be extremely HAWT and I got hooked to PT after seeing both women and men equally fall for his charms. And he plays those arrogant and bad boy type of characters really well.

    Spoiler

We meet two people who are vastly different from each other. Jinho is handsome, tall, smart and everything about him is so perfect. On the other hand, Kae In’s life is a mess and on top of that she’s betrayed by people she trusts the most.

Their mutual annoyance started  at the very first moment they bumped into each other.

    OgyaPdR.jpg

Their encounter involving butts had me laughing hysterically and their facial expressions were priceless too. Way to go Kae In; What a way to punish the pervert who grabbed your butt! An eye for an eye and that sent his model crashing down into the floor.:D

The coincidences that made people believe that Jinho was gay, were so amusing.

Don’t you know that I like men?

    RXcjBMD.jpg

The elevator scene is ridiculously hilarious; the two men looked so comfortable with each other, not knowing that they were being misunderstood to be a gay couple. And Sang Jun’s  lines made me giggle like crazy.

  7. BOYS OVER FLOWERS-FINAL

I too cant’ believe that we’re in the farewell episode. @1ouiseThank you chingu for your comments:)

The pool scene was brilliantly played by both the actors and it was breathtakingly beautiful too. Jandi described what kind of a person Jun Pyo was, the way she knew him. She gave him an ultimatum by drowning herself in the pool trusting in the love that they shared, trusting that it would trigger his memories so that he could save her...Jun Pyo was shocked in disbelief for a moment and then his memories of Jandi came flooding back .  And they madly fell in love with each other all over again. Woah! I cannot help but cry every time I watch this scene. I don’t know about CPR but I think he gave her the kiss of life.

JP: Scare a person like that again you’ll really be a dead

Yess, that’s very much like Gu Jun Pyo.

Yay to having a date at Namsan tower again. It’s nice to see the JunDi moments being brought back full circle towards the end. Loved how Jun Pyo trapped Jandi against his car and asked for a date and she did not hear  him just like in episode 4. Bwahaha.

    egXgcBt.jpg

Their conversation at the cable car was a mixture of amusement and sadness, especially I liked the part where she stressed her independence. And it’s funny how he made sure that she cannot marry anyone else because of his scribbles.

JP:You just need to marry me. Who else are you going to marry?":D

    Spoiler

    t57Wgjd.jpg

    7w1V8uO.jpg

It was so nice to see mama Kang taking care of papa Gu. It’s safe to assume that she lost her ability to control Jun Pyo after he got into an accident and that left our JunDi couple to live happily ever after without anymore threats of separation. I’m happy that Jun Pyo came back as an amazing man and Jandi also tried to fulfill her dreams of becoming a doctor.  Jun Pyo’s proposal to Jandi is simply beautiful and the objection of the F3 was adorable because I always thought that JunDi couple needed their blessings. The 5 of them looking out into the sunset portrayed the love and friendship that bonded them together.

Sharing my thoughts on BOF with y'all has been a truly wonderful experience.  I don’t know if another drama would inspire me to write so passionately again, the same way. BOYS OVER FLOWERS –EPISODE TWENTY FOUR

There is no doubt that Mama Kang  wanted the best for her son, however, she did things in a very manipulative way, causing everyone to suffer. Staging her husband’s death to get Jun Pyo under her control, how can a mother  be that villainous?

JP: Being the child of that kind of person, being a member of that kind of family, if even I hate it, then how do you think she’ll feel?

WB:  It’s Geum Jandi so it could be different.

    JP : That’s even more reason why I can’t. Because it’s the woman I love. That’s why I can’t even more now.

    XBFWAbD.jpg

    Spoiler

    WqaSTOC.jpg

Jun Pyo’s accident really tore my heart out. I blame mama Kang for antagonizing that crazy guy who caused it and it was poor Jun Pyo who had to pay the price in the end.  He not only saved Ji Hoo's life but also insisted that Ji Hoo and Jandi should be together even after seeing that intimate moment between the two of them. Aww, that’s my boy. What a difficult journey he had to undertake to evolve from that clueless jerk to an amazing man.

Jandi holding unconscious Jun Pyo’s hand and making a tearful confession, moved my heart.  The last words she said when she abandoned him were really cruel.

JD: I lied to you again. To me you’re always just Gu Jun Pyo. You’re the dummy Gu Jun Pyo who likes the ugly, poor, nameless Jandi.

Letting go of Jandi is something that Jun Pyo couldn’t do no matter how hard he tried.  However, after the accident he may have subconsciously forgotten her, the one person who  brought him so much pain and in his imaginations, she was Ji Hoo’s girlfriend.

Loved how Jandi and F3 tried to revive Jun Pyo’s memory by reenacting their past encounters. Although it was hard to watch him being mean to her, I liked how the drama returned to its beginnings,  making me feel all nostalgic. Jun Pyo’s  expression when Jandi shoved  her ice cream cone in his face was priceless.

    axOQSs4.jpg

And his  cross eyed angry face when she tried to high kick him was so adorable.  Too bad it only agitated Jun Pyo even more.

    Post-BOF

Post-BOF, Lee Minho was first to express his afterthoughts. On location he had been numb to end-of-filming and all that goes with it but upon reaching home it finally struck him that everything Goo Jun Pyo was no more. Met with a heavy heart, he had this to say on his web page on the 30th:

“This is the last time I’m writing as Goo Jun Pyo. Filming ended today and it didn’t hit me that all has ended till I got home.

I don’t know why but there’s this empty feeling and I can’t sleep. From Autumn 2008 to Spring 2009, it’s been neither a long nor short duration… and it’s been a difficult time for everyone. In the time that filming was ongoing, accidents on and off set were especially many therefore when I felt like I was having a particularly hard time I would wish for filming to end quickly. But everytime this happened, I thought of the fans and all the support they’d given me which gave me the strength to spur on to the finish.

I will always remember the love and support everyone has bestowed upon me and this will make a better Lee Minho in the future. I hope you guys will keep anticipating more from me.”

BOYS OVER FLOWERS- EPISODE TWENTY THREE

JP: How come you don’t say that you like me?  I’ve said it to you, multiple times. I want to hear what kind of person I’m to you.

JD: I like you. No matter how hard I try not to like you, no matter how hard I try to forget you, my efforts are so fruitless, to the extent that I get angered by it.

    X9Ke3wR.jpg

The parting words of Jun Pyo after the zoo date suggested that he dreamt of marrying Jandi and having a little kid like Chan.  Aww. That feeling  is so endearing. But we know that it’s the calm before the storm.

On their way back from the picnic, Jun Pyo was so happy,  smiling and  reminiscing their precious moments  and  not knowing what will happen in the very next minute.   But alas, finally, there was no way out as villainous mama Kang made a deal with Jandi to give up Jun Pyo and in return she will leave her friends alone. It was a slap in the face when Jandi lied to him and left, especially after their romantic and blissful date. And that made the break up even more sadder than the one in Macau.

JD: No matter how much you try, you’re still Shinhwa group’s Gu Jun Pyo. I have never forgotten that not even for a single second.

Jun Pyo was shocked in disbelief  after hearing her words and when he snapped out of it she had already boarded the bus and it was moving.  And how he frantically ran after the bus, calling her name and desperately pleading her not to leave and finally  collapsing,  had me downright heartbroken.  I must say that I haven’t cried this much for BOF since episode 14.

The abandonment  by Jandi is the best scene after the break up in Macau, hands down. And Lee Min Ho’s acting is just WOW and man; he can really run so fast. What a rare combination of beauty and talent he is.  Oh and I love his voice too. He did too good a job with this dramatic and angsty  scene, embracing a whole range of emotions of Jun Pyo:  longing to frustration to anguish and then to helplessness and finally breakdown.

I couldn’t bear to watch Jun Pyo immersing himself in grief,  going clubbing and drinking. He went into a cold fury and attacked the toy machine out of frustration over the loss of his love.  And finally, Jun Pyo spending jail time staring into space emotionlessly, tormented by his happy flashbacks with Jandi, left me with this big question, ‘who can save him now?’:(

     BOYS OVER FLOWERS-EPISODE TWENTY TWO

I’m glad that Jun Pyo is finally free from the clingy and bratty Jae Kyung. I almost dropped this drama because of her. But how did she become so awesome overnight as she was so ruthless in the previous episode? Especially, I cannot forget how she walked off on Jun Pyo when he went down on his knees at the chapel. Therefore, I believe that Jun Pyo’s last ditch plea and Jandi’s unwavering loyalty pushed her to a point where she could no longer be an obstacle to them. But why didn’t Jun Pyo object to the wedding? Because if he did, Jandi’s life would have been in danger.

    SQ5SW7E.jpg

JunDi couple’s happy reunion at the yacht was sweet.

    jdggZUe.jpg

And their night together was so romantic. What’s with the bed with rose petals?:)  And in this cartoon, Jun Pyo’s bride is Jandi. (I’m guessing from her hairstyle and his smile)

    Spoiler

The candlelight dinner, the waltz, their lovey-dovey conversations, star-gazing….. I love them all.

JD: Why me? I’m not pretty and I don’t have money or status. I have nothing. Why did you like me?

JP: Because I have all that. Money, status, looks… because I have all that. I don’t need that from you. Geum Jandi, all you have to be is Geum Jandi.

    xFpTHL5.jpg

JP: Do you know what my dream is?

JD: Going to watch the stars with your son.

JP: You’re so simple-minded. To not make promises I won’t keep. Jandi ah, I’m sorry for hurting you. Jandi ah

    JD: Wei tto (what now?)

    JP: Saranghae (I love you)

    YZmoe4E.jpg

My favorite part is the date at the zoo. JunDi couple, together with little Chan looked like a perfect family. It’s adorable how jealous Jun Pyo competed with him to get Jandi’s attention. :D

    Liked maria’s comment on DB:

Jun Pyo's story about the telescope: I LOVE that his dream is "to not make promises I can't keep". It speaks volumes of the sort of man he is, why he fights for what he wants the way he does, why his first love is this poor girl-- he never saw the poor part of her, he only ever saw her character and her integrity. She's the one who'll let him have that dream. And with her warmth and her compassion, she's also the one who'll let him LIVE it.

Jun pyo, Jan Di and Chan at the zoo: This feels like a throwback to old times-- his boyishness coming out. The way he fought that kid for Jan Di's attention made it seem like she was taking care of TWO boys (kyaaa~~). But towards the end of it, he started coming around and playing with the kid too. You get that the reason he doesn't share is only because he's been starved for life situations where he has to. But you see that given the opportunity, he will see the merit in these and he will adjust, share and compromise. Like you said in one post before, I like how in BOF, it doesn't only look like they've grown up, it FEELS like they've grown up also.

  11. BOYS OVER FLOWERS-EPISODE TWENTY ONE

Jae Kyung finally finds out that Jandi’s working at the Gu mansion as a personal maid and of course the JunDi couple get caught to her at a very awkward moment. On top of that mama Kang barges in and starts questioning Jandi’s presence in the Gu Mansion.

    WmAf0ZL.jpg

Granny saves Jandi and she admits that Jun Pyo’s positive transformation is due to Jandi’s influence on him. She goes on to say that she owes a great debt to Gu family and her final mission would be to nurture Jun Pyo to become a better person.

Things change dramatically at the Gu mansion with Jae Kyung moving in and the wedding plans being fast- tracked. When Jun Pyo objects, mama Kang reminds him of the ‘give and take’, deal. In the meantime, Jae Kyung asks Jandi to be her bridesmaid which is quite a stab in the back for her.

Jun Pyo is hopelessly muddled over the wedding plans and Ji Hoo advises him that he is the only person who can find the answer. Moving on, grandpa sets Ji Hoo up on a date with Jandi and they win a contest by becoming the most popular and the cutest couple.:)

    Spoiler

    3J5tGwc.jpg

Then we see everyone on their way to Jeju for the wedding. I can’t believe that the last day of Jun Pyo’s bachelorhood has finally arrived. F3 find him depressed and brooding alone, overlooking the ocean. Ji Hoo asks, “right now, who do you think is having the most difficult time?”

    5pV0spK.jpg

In the meantime, the two girls have a tearful heart to heart talk. The boys engage themselves in a soccer match; their team spirit however, is overshadowed by the aggression of Jun Pyo’s playing.:o

I loved Jun Pyo’s conversations with Jun Hee noona and Ji Hoo later that night while he was trying to figure out what he should do.

Jun H:  How far are you willing to go?

JP: How far does it have to be?

Jun H: everything. Family, Shinhwa group and may be even the name ‘ Gu Jun Pyo’. I couldn’t do it. After throwing everything away what would Jun Hee be? To live as nothing but one man’s woman. I didn’t have the courage to do that. That one moment of cowardice made things very difficult for me.

    Spoiler

    9MMQC2Z.jpg

Jun Pyo calls Ji Hoo a brother and confesses that he cannot live without him. Before revealing his decision, he tearfully asks Ji Hoo to punch him once and he says that he cannot let go of Jandi.

    SgbAUpQ.jpg

Then we see Jun Pyo at the wedding chapel with Jae Kyung insensitively practicing her vows. He tells her that he cannot go through with the wedding and the reason he gives her is one my favorite lines in BOF.

Ha Jae Kyung, you can’t get married to me. I’m sorry. There is a woman I love. My first since I was born and until I die she’ll be the only one for me. Knowing that do you still want to marry me?

Jae Kyung’s heart doesn’t really waver and when she insists that they’ll be married on the following day, Jun Pyo goes down on his knees and begs for her forgiveness. Oh my gawd, it’s so manly and attractive of almighty Gu Jun Pyo to swallow his pride and beg Jae Kyung to cancel the wedding and the fact that he did it for Jandi is enough for me to prove his undying love for her. Jae Kyung must have a heart of stone as she continues to refuse saying that  even though he begs her to forgive him there is no reason for her to forgive. She walks off in tears leaving Jun Pyo completely baffled.:(

    8448znO.jpg

On the day of the wedding, at the last minute, when he has to head for the chapel, Jun Pyo asks Woo Bin to break his arm. Just when Woo Bin grabs hold of his arm, Jandi appears. Frustrated by his foolishness, she accuses him of trying to run away like a coward. Then Jun Pyo grabs her by her shoulders and pleads for her to tell him not to get married and she looks the other way.:(

    Comments

When I watched BOF the first time around I wanted Jun Pyo to give up everything and run away with Jandi and I felt frustrated with him for kneeling before Jae Kyung like a coward.  Then, how did he emerge as my hero during the home stretch of this series? Because I fell madly in love with the mature and serene Gu Jun Pyo as I was, with that selfish, hot-headed and spoiled rich kid.  He not only acknowledged that he had to ensure the well –being of employees of Shinhwa but also realized that it all depended on the financial stability of the group. So, he abandoned Jandi just when she opened her heart to him and now he has to find a way not to hurt her anymore.  And who said that he didn’t have a plan to protect his loved one?

The night before the wedding he met Ji Hoo. Although it was unimaginable, he thought that Ji Hoo should be the ‘other person’ for Jandi rather than him making things even more difficult for her. (This part is only revealed in the next episode) And then he met Jae Kyung who was equally powerful as mama Kang when it came to their wedding. I believe he had been working hard honing his idea of persuading her to cancel the engagement by tolerating everything that she did and becoming her friend. By giving up his pride and kneeling before Jae Kyung he pushed her to the point where she could no longer be an obstacle to himself and Jandi. After abandoning Jandi in Macau, he finally decided that he will never, ever, ever intentionally cause anyone to suffer again. Failing all else, the only right thing to do was to give up his happiness for others and get married to Jae Kyung. Did I just fangirl over Jun Pyo a little too much?:)

Then we know that Jandi also gave up Jun Pyo,  by not pursuing him  ambitiously and selflessly giving her blessings to him and Jae Kyung, even though he was prepared to fight for their love. She could have been easily been with Ji Hoo, but deep, deep down it is Jun Pyo who has her heart.

As for Ji Hoo, who’s patiently waiting to propose to Jandi after Jun Pyo‘s wedding, I feel sad that it’s all going to blow up in his face in an enormously painful way.

    BOYS OVER FLOWERS -EPISODE TWENTY

When I watched episode 20 for the very first time, I was a little distressed seeing Jandi doing menial chores at the Gu mansion as Jun Pyo’s personal maid. However, as the show progressed I began to really enjoy the cuteness of JunDi interactions and what is more, making this cute couple live under the same roof  was the only way that the writer could bring them back together. Jandi’s in good hands with Jun Hee unnie and the cute grandma aka sunbae by her side; I love them both and that’s a pretty good support system too.

I absolutely loved the scene where Jun Pyo saw granny for the first time in many years  and  his facial expressions when he found out that Jandi was his personal  maid, were hilarious.:D

I enjoyed the hilarity and cuteness of JunDi couple talking to each other using walkie-talkies. (How could I forget him talking to her, manning a loudspeaker in episode 2, when he hunted her down in the middle of the sea? Back then, Jandi would have never thought that she would fall for the guy she hated the most). Finding excuses to be with her and bugging her to bring ramen in a pot so that he could eat it off the lid, this is the Jun Pyo I really adore. Jandi looked so cute in that maid’s outfit and Jun Pyo gazed at her in admiration after putting a blanket over her and granny seemed to enjoy their sweet loving too. Wahahaha:D

How many cute scenes we had in this episode ? here's another one. Jandi waking up Jun Pyo with a duster:D

Also loved the scene when they both jumped into each others' embrace when a ghost appeared in the movie they were watching. It was a moment of awkwardness. Unfortunately he is engaged now and he could only touch her face when she was sleeping.:(

My favorite part  was the ending scene when Jun Pyo pulled Jandi on top of him when she tried to wake him up. Pressing her to his chest, he mumbled:

5 minutes. Let me stay like this for 5 minutes. Even though I’m holding you like this, I can’t believe that you’re here.

There is an element of sadness in this scene; it showed how much Jun Pyo missed her and longed for her. If Jandi had any suspicions about his feelings for her before, all of that would have thrown out of the window. If not for the interruption, their embrace would have ended up in a kiss for sure; oh dang, that monkey girl showed up:lol:

  13. BOYS OVER FLOWERS –EPISODE NINETEEN

The truth or dare game was the highlight of the show and I loved the F4 bonding at Jandi’s housewarming party. Why did Jun Pyo object to Yi Jung’s idea of french kissing ? Was he afraid to witness an F3, especially Ji Hoo kissing Jandi?  Yi Jung’s expression when Ji Hoo kissed him was hilarious. :DHowever, things got a bit emotional when Ji Hoo directed his question to Jun Pyo.

    LwSFDSF.jpg

JH: If the person you love is having a hard time because of you, would you let her go?

JP: No. I won’t let her go. I can’t let her go. I’m going to hold on to her tightly and make her happy. It’s my turn now. Geum Jandi. The promise we made on the street…is it still intact?

    Veydyt0.jpg

He made his intentions clear, so that there is no ambiguity concerning his behavior. In other words, he cautioned Jay Kyung and Ji Hoo both that he wasn’t going to let go of Jandi no matter what. However, her answer was a slap in his face and I loved it, because that’s her revenge on him for the ‘stain’ remarks that he made about her, in Macau.

JD: No. the person who made that promise and the person who heard that promise don’t exist anymore.

The conversation between Jun Pyo and Jae Kyung after Jandi’s housewarming party reminded me of how Jandi described his character in episode 16. That is; if he likes something, he ignores everything else and goes for it all the way, like a bulldozer.  This is why I find Jun Pyo’s character very attractive. He wants love (Jandi) and friendship (Ji Hoo) both and he’s assured that he will get both, because there is no such thing as giving up in his dictionary.

    BOYS OVER FLOWERS- EPISODE EIGHTEEN

We start off with the continuation of Jae Kyung’s attempted seduction with her striptease and back hug. Thanks to her, I couldn’t even properly watch the topless scene of our Mr. Fan service. Joking aside, I want to add a shout out to Jun Pyo for being bold and honest with her and finally admitting to liking someone else.:)

The man who’s right for you is out there somewhere.

Jandi’s shocked and bewildered after seeing the two of them together in the pool and Ji Hoo comforts her. After the rejection, Jae Kyung nervously connects the dots in order to figure out the relationship between Jun Pyo and Jandi. In the following morning at the breakfast table, she tries to mislead Jandi by stating:

I couldn’t sleep a wink. Last night was a historical night for Gu Jun Pyo and Ha Jae Kyung. Jun Pyo was embarrassed so he left first.

Alarmed by this revelation Jandi drops her fork on the floor and Jae Kyung senses that she is the girl that Jun Pyo likes. She walks away trying hard not to burst into tears and Ji hoo stares at her in disbelief.

Moving on, we see Jae Kyung supervising the servants at Jun Pyo’s house like an obedient wife, she calls him husband and asks him to have breakfast with her. This gesture makes Jun Pyo stare at her for a while as it reminds him of his own childhood and how he hated to eat alone. Then he remembers how Jandi’s mom served him fish, attending to him at the breakfast table.Jun Pyo refuses the couple rings that Jae Kyung presented to him and looks plain unhappy as she’s invading his privacy, he says to her:

You’re my fiancée, not my wife. Just go home!

Interestingly, he realizes that Jae Kyung has fallen for him as he did the same thing when he was pursuing Jandi in Caledonia, taking extra care with the dinner preparations.

Yi Jung getting into a fight all of a sudden and Woo Bin rescuing him looked a bit odd to me. Nevertheless, that brings Jun Pyo into the picture and Yi Jung compares his injury with that of Jandi’s.

The swimmer had to give up swimming because of a bum shoulder. The potter has to give up pottery because of a broken hand. For people like us stuff like love or innocence was never meant to be from the start.

Jun Pyo finally realizes that Jandi can no longer swim competitively.  Didn’t Yi Jung already make it clear to him when he confronted him in Macau?  This revelation is a hard blow to Jun Pyo and he heads to the swimming pool where Jandi used to swim in. Guilt ridden, he weeps in frustration and sinks to the floor. That night, he is in bed half asleep, holding the stuffed pink toy that Jandi gifted him and it’s so sweet of Secretary Jung to find the whereabouts of Jandi for him.

    21730930_10211781186023833_1149172826264

In the absence of Mama Kang, Jun Pyo is determined to win Jandi back and in the following morning she and her little brother are surprised to find him in their neighborhood.  It’s obvious that he wants to spend more time with her but Jandi seems to want to keep her distance.  He explains that he’s slumming it as part of his training as the successor of Shinwah group and mishmashes a few words in the process. This means that Jun Pyo’s adorable old self is back even for a brief moment and I love it.:)

Jun Pyo showers Jandi with a whole heap of household items and protests that a student shouldn’t come home late. Then he sniffs at the appetizing  smell of ramen cooking and it turns out that he is really hungry. Then the three of them settle down to eat. Oh my! He grabs Jandi’s pot lid saying that it looks  tastier and wolfs down her leftover ramen and the rest of it too and then asks for more. He reminds me of Daejang Choi Young.:)

That night Jandi's studies are  distracted by a dreadful  scream  coming from Jun Pyo’s apartment. She rushes over to his place only to find  that the  big baby Jun Pyo  is shrinking away from a tiny cockroach.  She takes care of it but still mad at him for being a big nuisance to the neighborhood. :D

Just when she’s about to leave, Jun Pyo stops her and asks her to keep him company and he falls asleep while she is watching over him.  He looks so peaceful and vulnerable here. This is the one time that she can observe him without a fight or an explanation.

    49dkPGp.jpg

    Comments

What I like about Jun Pyo’s character is his direct personality; he gave Jae Kyung a point blank rejection and started pursuing Jandi again. No matter how hard she tries to seduce him he remains loyal to the girl he loves. I have a slight reservation though, that is, that there is no revelation as to the reason for his break up with Jandi, so she can’t honestly soften her attitude towards him.  Still, it is obvious that they’re very much in love with each other. As someone mentioned in the BOF thread, he understands that  Jae  Kyung is just ‘the wrong person at the wrong time’ and feels sorry that she is unnecessarily dragged into the muddle created by mama Kang.

What do you make of this perfectly shot almost kiss between Jun Pyo and Jae Kyung at the end of the episode? Well, we know that it’s just a cliffhanger to keep the viewers in suspense until they watch the next episode.

    NyGLEk9.jpg

With the arranged marriage still going strong and Jun Pyo blowing hot and cold,   Jandi is giving a vibe that she is no longer having a special connection with him and that distresses me. Like Jun Hee noona once advised, I want her to forgive him and give him another chance for the sake of the love that they shared. Where’s the spunky Jandi? Now you need to step up girl.

I still find Jae Kyung’s presence very irritating.  I don’t blame her for falling in love with Jun Pyo. I mean,Who wouldn’t? I can forgive her for desperately pursuing him even after he made it clear to her that he liked someone else. But what bothered me the most was that when she tried to mislead Jandi by giving her a wrong impression about her relationship with Jun Pyo. I mean, when Jandi is really gracious even to her rival in love, shouldn’t Jae Kyung be more concerned about her feelings too. And why is she holding on to someone else’s necklace? No wonder she doesn’t have any friends. Strangely though I don’t feel the same way about Ji Hoo, because during these hard times he has been Jandi’s best friend, shoulder to cry on and a knight in shining amour and still manages to be Jun Pyo’s best friend too. In fact, I enjoyed Ji Hoo and Jandi moments together.

    BOYS OVER FLOWERS -EPISODE SEVENTEEN

To me personally, episode 17 is another tiresome ride filled with angst, frustration and awkwardness. I’m not sure if Jun Pyo misunderstood when he saw Jandi lying in Ji Hoo’s bed while he was kissing her hand, but I want to believe that he noticed that she was sick. Jealous and not being able take care of her himself, he silently leaves and then starts brooding. Then he laughs, feeling insanely frustrated and he bursts into tears, changes to anger back again. Awesome acting.

Did you notice that he was not even responding to mama Kang when she was lecturing him about his responsibilities?  Woah! How mean is she to torment her own son with that guilt trip? Now, why did he finally decide to date Jae Kyung? Is it to protect Jandi? Or is it because of the tremendous pressure from his evil mom? Jun Pyo is cold and distant towards Jae Kyung who’s constantly nagging, clinging on to him and begging for love, like a fool. The only good thing about her presence is that she makes both of them realize how important they are to each other.

The love quartet in BOF is not one of my most memorable multiple love relationships in K- dramas because it is neither a source of humor nor a way to keep things interesting. Instead it constantly tested the strength of love between Jun Pyo and Jandi. Even though the end was pretty easy to guess Ji Hoo sacrificing himself over and over again at least got us second male lead syndrome. As for Jae Kyung, I still wonder what qualities she could bring to her relationship with Jun Pyo.

It would have been more effective if both the girls took up the ramen eating challenge and competed against each other for the prize. But we know that this scene had to be edited due to actress GHS’s accident. I wonder how Jun Pyo can be buddy -buddy with Ji Hoo after everything that has happened but I loved watching them fixing dinner together in the kitchen.:)

  16. BOYS OVER FLOWERS- EPISODE SIXTEEN

Episode 16 suffered from lack of common sense and little or no plot/ character development. That being said I must admit that I enjoyed the cuteness of Jun Pyo and Jandi during the second half of the show. Jun Pyo following Jandi around, giving her excuses, worrying about her and getting jealous reminded me of their good times together. As for Jae Kyung, I may be in the minority here but I couldn’t bear to watch her annoying and over the top behavior. LOL, Yi Jung and Woo Bin’s Casanova and Don Juan ways won’t work on her, so  they had to resort to their ‘last emergency method’ to bring the ‘two idiots’ together.

Of course, Ga Eul had to be saved from a notorious playboy like Yi Jung and it’s impossible for Jandi to do it alone. In the absence of her honorary firefighter; Jun Pyo becomes her closest friend and confidante. And Woo Bin was hilarious, dancing to the song ‘Almost Paradise’ and luring Jandi into where Jun Pyo was. But why did she scream and rush out when she saw him wet and half naked, as if she had not seen him like that before? muhahaha.

    kkot16-135.jpg

    Photo cr Dramabeans

And I loved how Jun Pyo adorably expressed “if I can’t have her, then no one will” feeling, when Woo Bin demonstrated Yi Jung’s style of seducing a girl with his ‘5 seconds kill’.:D

    Cr Gabryelaize Gabriela

Jandi’s disguise in coke-bottle glasses is totally transparent and I enjoyed the stupidity and hilarity of her actions in stalking Yi Jung and Ga Eul.  Although Jun Pyo is unenthusiastic about it, he’s letting himself be tormented by her and is satisfied being with her. Another one of my favorite scenes is them watching the other couple at the skating rink, embracing each other.:)

    BOYS OVER FLOWERS-EPISODE FIFTEEN

    kkot15-031.jpg

When I watched this episode for the first time, Jun Pyo showing up at the airport really confused me because, previously, he chose to watch Jandi from afar and suffer in silence. He certainly had something to say to her but he was at a loss for words in front of her. Now that Jandi wouldn’t accept even a strand of hair from him, why did he buy shoes for the girl that he dumped? Is this another 'facade' for mama Kang? Where are her spies anyway? Nevertheless, their confrontation and conversation made me assume that he came to make his farewell to Ji Hoo and Jandi. Too bad that he had to punch Ji Hoo, hurting Jandi even more and we know that he did it out of frustration and jealousy. And then Jun Pyo breaking down in tears and Secretary Jung comforting him was so heartbreaking. What a way to bring angst to a drama. I'm sniffling here:(

    Cr xladollyvita

I’m glad that Jandi now has a new purpose in her life; after all, she has to create her own future as she wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth. This time around when I re-watched BOF, I somehow felt that Jandi loved Jun Pyo even more after their separation, strangely though she doesn’t really want to win him back, instead, she’s grateful for the love that they already shared.

Mama Kang is a ruthlessly manipulative woman to use her own son’s birthday party to humiliate Jandi. Her sad love song to Jun Pyo is so adorable. Whatever happens in the future, expressing her feelings to him must have been relieving to her. How Jun Pyo forced a smile on seeing her and the way they stole glances at each other, really left me breathless.:(

    cr Sofygrafe

Oh! And the news of Jun Pyo’s engagement with Jae Kyung came as a bombshell. Still, I feel bad for her for being unreasonably dragged into mama Kang’s villainous plot. I like how they’re trying to make things uneasy for us, the viewers, by the introduction of Jae Kyung who is seemingly more compatible with Jun Pyo. On the other hand, I have read in the BOF thread, that according to the manga, Makino (Jandi) is not supposed to be very pretty. Apart from her acts of defiance, it is Jandi's average looks, her average life and her inner beauty that made her unique to Jun Pyo.  Therefore, I don’t see Jae Kyung’s presence as a real threat to Jun+ Di couple.:)

Finally, I wish Jun Pyo could also hear these wise words.

Jun-pyo will come back, so don’t give up on him. Trust me, and give him one more chance. Can you do that?- Jun Hee

  18. BOYS OVER FLOWERS- EPISODE FOURTEEN

Episode fourteen is a tearjerker and things can only go further downhill from here, so buckle up, Chingus.

Heads of JK group arrive in Macau to negotiate a huge business collaboration with Shinhwa  group which is obviously expected generate  a great deal of money.  President Kang seems to  have ulterior motives behind it and Jun Pyo may just be a pawn in the game that she is playing. His schedule as the newly appointed Managing Director is jam –packed and he’s too busy, even to see his best friends. Therefore, Secretary Jung goes out of his way to bring him to meet the F3 at an odd place- a basketball court. However, Jun Pyo is not all that happy to see them.  Ji Hoo seems have got a grasp of the situation while Woo Bin is puzzled and the moment Yi Jung mentions Jandi, trouble stirs up between Jun Pyo and the F3 and Yi Jung ends up punching Jun Pyo.:o

Yi Jung tries to open up to Jandi about Jun Pyo’s changed behavior and Woo Bin assures that it’s probably due to stress.  Surprisingly she’s already aware of it and determined to hear the truth from Jun Pyo himself. To divert Jandi’s mood they suggest playing a game of hide and seek with masks on!  Jandi puts up a cheerful face in front of them but when she sees a commercial of Jun Pyo on a large TV screen she breaks down in tears and Ji Hoo tries to comfort her.:)

Ji Hoo realizing that Jandi needs closure, pleads with Jun Pyo to meet her.

After much deliberation he escorts Jandi to Jun Pyo. And there he is on the bridge so distant and cold and for the first time she‘s at a loss for words around him. And oh my gawd! He breaks her heart into a million pieces with his callous dismissal and his remarks about her being ‘a stain that he wanted to erase’ is totally uncalled for. :bawling:

JD:  Pretending to not see me, and not wanting to see me… you’re saying that you really meant it. So, to you I’m..

JP: Like a stain I want to erase.

During the entire conversation Jun Pyo is being unemotional and stiff like a robot and then they walk in opposite directions. Jandi crying out loud while riding the gondola, the gondolier singing ‘Con te partiro  for her and the flashback montage of her good times with Jun Pyo, made me really sad.

    Cr Just A Girl

Then we see the truth that Jun Pyo is trying to hide. He storms into mama Kang’s room in a rage and confronts her and their conversation reveals that he has made pact a with her to breakup with Jandi and in return she will leave her alone. :(

    Spoiler

JP Is the president satisfied now that everything’s the way you want?

Mama Kang:  I don’t know. Merely hearing about the likes of that girl doesn’t make me happy.

JP she’s not “that kind of girl’ SHE IS THE FIRST GIRL THAT YOUR SON EVER LOVED.

Mama Kang: Alright. So what are you going to do? Do you want to throw everything away and run to her side? Shinhwa group, it’s employees, your future. Fine.  But what about your father?

The moment she mentions his father, his anger subsides and his eyes are filled with tears and he asks her to stop. Mama Kang continues.

Your father who tried his best until the end for this company,   something that you would toss away without hesitation. Are you planning on throwing him away too? What shall I do with that girl Jandi? Should I make it so she can’t live anywhere in Korea?

JP stop. I told you to stop. Don’t mess with Jandi. If you break your promise, I’ll destroy everything.:o

    kkot14-150.jpg

    Photo cr Dramabeans

It’s a relief to see Jandi spending the following day with Ji Hoo, smiling and having fun. Then we see Jun Pyo walking by and spotting Jandi looking admiringly at a pretty pair of shoes.  Later, Jae Kyung visits the same store where Jandi was at earlier and just when she touches the same shoes, Jun Pyo tries to grab it from her.  Aww, he still has feelings for Jandi and doesn’t want to break up with her, for real.

Jun Pyo’s first encounter with Jae Kyung made me nervous as she seemingly has a cheerful and down to earth personality which is similar to that of Jandi’s. If Jun Pyo had met her first, would he have fallen for her?  I wonder whether anyone else would have the audacity to defy the most feared man in Shinhwa high school and make him fall head over heels for her?  And it is also their social inequality that made him humble himself and willing to transform from being a jerk to a decent man, in his pursuit to win her heart. Therefore, I cannot help but to believe that Jun Pyo and Jandi are meant to be together.:)

    Cr KoreaNice

That night, mama Kang is satisfied after hearing favorable reports from the Secretary about Jun Pyo and Jandi. OMG, Instead of focusing on his work he’s tearfully watching  a slide show of Jandi’s pictures. And when the video message  from her is being played, he gets up to leave. Although he longs so much to be with her, he suddenly recollects the promise that he made to his father when he was a child. Torn between fulfilling his promise   and giving up the love of his life he screams in frustration and huddles on the floor.:(

And finally we see an image of Ji Hoo, Jandi and Jun Pyo, giving us an impression of their love triangle.

    My comments

Oh my gawd! I felt the excruciating emotions of rejection, sacrifice, frustration, angst and longing as I watched Jun Pyo and Jandi’s breakup ordeal.  I developed a lot of sympathy for Jun Pyo for having an evil mother who is capable of even harming someone  else’s child to protect her own child. Although his lonely inner struggle after abandoning everyone near and dear to him is undeniable, being brutal and disrespectful towards Jandi and taking away her right to know the truth is not acceptable to me. However, how can I not feel for Jun Pyo who chose to break up with Jandi in order to fiercely and unselfishly protect her?  I’m surprised that he felt so strong about the promise that he made to his father as we only know that he grew up in a loveless family environment. Perhaps the only person who understands his mind is Secretary Jung who has been a father figure to him since he was a child.

As for Minho’s acting, I loved how he used  his facial expressions to portray Jun Pyo’s conflicted emotions and thereby reaching one of his best performances in this series. We often say that he can act really well with his eyes alone but did you notice how his frontal neck area was shivering and showing a swallowing movement when he was crying while watching the photos and video of Jandi, it is even more noticeable in him because of his large Adam’s apple (now I’m blushed and I want to run).

On the other hand, Jand  is at crossroads not being able to figure out what the future holds for  her after her dream of becoming a swimming champion was  shattered and on top of that the man who she deeply  loved and trusted failed to keep his promise. I really felt sorry for her when she approached Jun Pyo first to find out how he had been doing despite her nervousness and vulnerability to face him and for her to get that affection trampled on with his ‘fake break up’, must have hurt a lot.:(

Although Ji Hoo’s loyalty is indisputable, it will be hard for him to suppress his feelings for Jandi as he spends more time with her knowing that her future with Jun Pyo is almost impossible.  Still, I’m relieved that the camaraderie between Jandi and F3, especially Ji Hoo will help her through these trying times. Interestingly Yi Jung and Woo Bin  too have come a long way to take care of Jandi as if she’s their own  little sister, especially how Yi Jung confronted Jun Pyo shows that he won’t let him hurt her.  And oh! the way Woo Bin said “don’t worry buddy”, like a big brother, is really cool.

  19. Chingu @gtLmh0622 Minho is the most handsome man I have ever seen and I love him, among other things, for his aegeyo nature. Your explanation about his beauty is one of the sweetest posts I have ever read. Thanks to you, now I can look at him with a new perspective:)

@Kris Silva @1ouise @CarolynH and @CalliePThank you chingus for your comments :). Here are my thoughts on:

    BOYS OVER FLOWERS-EPISODE TWELVE

We have reached the halfway stage of this series and the relationship between Jun Pyo and Jandi is not just a puppy love between two high school kids anymore.  They went through many trials and tribulations that threatened their connection including their social inequality, Jun Pyo’s possessive behavior, Jandi’s wavering heart and endless scheming by Jun Pyo’s mother. Now their connection has become so deep that they put the interests of their significant other, above their own.

I have to admit that Jandi’s character came back really strong in this episode. I couldn’t bear to watch her kidnapping ordeal and Jun Pyo’s bloody fight with Jae Ha and his accomplices. The scene where Jandi threw herself to take the hit that was meant for Jun Pyo and how he kept on embracing unconscious Jandi was so heartbreaking. Thanks to F3 who came to their rescue no one ended up dying. But the moment they started bickering over who the biggest idiot was, I was laughing so hard. :DThe little moment between Jandi and her father on the swing at the park was really sweet; isn’t that the same place where she and Jun Pyo had their first kiss?

    Spoiler

Father:  You really like Jun Pyo, don’t you?

JD : You’re more important, dad.

Father: I’m sorry for being a burden on my pretty daughter’s love.

JD: Who said anything about love, dad?

Father: this is love Jandi. That makes him as dear a person to you as your dad.

JD: I’m not sure about that myself, how can you know?

Farther: I’ve been a dad to my pretty daughter for 19 years, how could I not know?

If there is one item in BOF that I covet so much, it’s the kissing star and moon necklace that Jun Pyo gave Jandi as his token of love for her. It’s  a meaningful gift as the  sentiments attached to it  will be with her through her days as she wears it and will remind her of Jun Pyo’s undying love for her.:)

Geum Jandi is the moon, which can never escape from the star Gu Jun Pyo. Because whatever may happen, Im not going to let go of this moon. There is only one like it in the world, so if you lose it, you’re really dead this time.

Let me start off today’s recap with Jun Pyo and Jandi’s Valentine’s Day date. But what’s up with her thinking of Ji Hoo first, as a  person to whom she is grateful for? He certainly deserves her appreciation for his friendship but, hey; Jun Pyo is the person she’s having a romantic relationship with. However, when I saw Jandi putting her heart into making those amazing chocolate cookies with Jun Pyo’s various facial expressions, I was delighted.  Those are the cutest cookies I have ever seen.

He stares at the cookies with great admiration and the smile on his face is priceless. Jandi tries to taste one of them and Jun Pyo grabs it back and he even gives her a little smack because those cookies are now entirely his.:D

Oh no! Winning is not important to them anymore; look who spots her son among the crowd.  It's madam Kang herself and her stare is really terrifying. Jandi falls from Jun Pyo’s back and she tries to hide herself behind him.  Jun Pyo is escorted away and Jandi waits outside holding the cookie bag with a perplexed look; poor couple.:(

Jun Pyo feels ill at ease after getting caught to omma and he drops by at Ji Hoo’s house.

Ji Hoo has Jandi’s cookie box  and just when he takes a bite off one, Jun Pyo snatches it and smacks him too. Here the bonding between these two F4 brothers is very nice. Jun Pyo is worried that something may happen to Jandi without his knowledge. Ji hoo comforts him saying that she is not a weakling and Jun Pyo has the rest of them to back him up.

The scene where Jandi’s mom poured salt over madam Kang’s head  was very intense. We know that she’s capable of doing anything with her wealth and power  so she  ruins Geum’s family business too, making them resort to peddling food and coffee to passing vehicles on the street.  With the ulterior motive of showing Jun Pyo the dire situation that the Guem family is in, madam Kang  drags him along with her  and their car is driven by the same street  where  Geums are operating.  Then she orders  secretary Jung to buy rice crackers from the Guems. And OMG, look who offers rice crackers to them, it’s Guem Jandi herself. Poor girl! My heart aches for her. Jun Pyo is shocked and he wants get off the car. But his mum grabs his hand to stop him. He shakes off her clench and storms out of the car thinking:

Geum Jandi stay still, please stay still.

And then he kisses her in the middle of traffic, in front of everyone:o:wub:

Dang that sunlight; their faces couldn’t be seen.  Still, this is one of my most memorable kisses from the drama because Jun Pyo wasn’t afraid of expressing his admiration and love to Jandi and also he isn’t embarrassed by the fact that he’s dating a commoner.I loved the next scene as well, where Jun Pyo and Jandi strolled together in the sunset. It’s also the moment when they made a promise to be together , no matter what.:)

JD you’re right sure I’m .. no, our family must be embarrassing. But I’m not sorry for any of it. You and I dating is separate from the family.  And you can’t have everything your way just because you’re my boyfriend.

JP then what do you want me to do? You just want me to watch your whole family selling rice crackers on the street?

JD  Yeah. Just watch. Don’t do anything just watch, if you want to remain my boyfriend.

    JP Hey, Dry Cleaner.

JD It’s been a while since I’ve heard that. But what should I do? I’m not a dry cleaner’s daughter anymore.

JP Geum Jandi, I’m not trying to scare you, nor is there a reason for you to be afraid. Just know this.my mom, our evil witch, is capable of doing anything, anytime. Promise me. That if something ever happens you’d tell me. One more thing. That no matter what, you won’t run away from me.

JD I don’t think I can promise you that. I felt like running away several times not because of your mother, but because of you… . I promise that I won’t let your mother become the reason.

JP it’s a relief that you’re Geum Jandi. It’s a relief that the commoner gangster Guem Jandi is my girlfriend. That promise really sets my heart at ease.

    BOYS OVER FLOWERS-EPISODE NINE

Episode nine is the best so far and I loved how Jun Pyo became the ‘darling’ of Jandi’s family during his brief stay with them. I developed a lot of sympathy and affection towards him after watching this episode because he’s someone who had grown up in a loveless family environment without proper parental care and guidance. It’s all the more evident in how he looked up to Jandi’s parents like a kid and how he tried to get accustomed to their commoner lifestyle. It’s the little things like making kimchi together, washing at a public bath house and eating fish cakes at a food stand that made him want to return to them every single day.

    BOYS OVER FLOWERS- EPISODE EIGHT

Loved the mature Jun Pyo who wasn't prepared to ditch his best friend for a girl. Still, it’s hilarious how his jealousy made him stalk Ji Hoo and Jandi, who were on a date. Although they liked each other enough they found the second half of their date rather unfulfilling and awkward. Is it by coincidence that Ji Hoo brought her to the same place where she had her first date with Jun Pyo?  It’s adorable how he and Jandi both couldn’t stop reminiscing their good times together, in the past. And OMG, Jandi spotted what Jun Pyo scribbled on the wall of the cable car.

Jun Pyo:heart: Jandi.. our first night together.

It’s funny how he made it impossible for her to marry anyone else.

After their date, Ji Hoo takes Jandi to his house. Outside, frustrated and jealous Jun Pyo is torturing himself, wondering what they’re up to:lol:

I don’t think the hockey match and the bloody fight were necessary to convince Jun Pyo’s feelings for Jandi. However, I wouldn’t mind a flaw as long as I get to watch the sweaty and hot- blooded Jun Pyo, engaged in one of the greatest and dangerous games on ice. He loves and respects Jandi so much that he could be ruthless to anyone who insults her.

JP:    If you hurt Geum Jandi, I’ll kill you regardless you’re my friend. Got it?!

JH:    You should have said it from the start. See, you can’t let go of Geum Jandi, right?

Loved how the F4s tricked Jandi into revealing her true feelings for Jun Pyo. Every time I watch this scene I laugh so hard. Jandi rushes to the hospital, prepared for the worst, Yi Jung and Ji Hoo are standing around , on top of that the sad song is being played, unconscious Jun Pyo is lying in bed and Woo Bin is weeping.

Get up, Gu Jun Pyo, get up. Guem Jandi is here, get up you rascal!

Jandi is holding Jun Pyo’s hand, crying and begging for him to wake up:

JD:  I have a lot to tell you, I have a lot of things to fight with you about and I have a lot of things to teach you too, what are you? I should be the one to apologize. Gu Jun Pyo I’m sorry. I lied to you. When you asked me to say that word one time for you…. I regretted it after I sent you away. Gu Jun Pyo get up. I think I can tell you the words that you wanted to hear now, so how can you be lying like this?

Jun Pyo’s eyes pop open and he’s beaming with pleasure; it’s a prank:lol:

    Jun Pyo is teasing Jandi:

Tell me quickly what you were about to say a little while ago, the words that I wanted to hear.

    And LOLs all round:lol:

I’m happy that the F4s are back together again; I feel sorry for Ji Hoo though, because he’s lonelier than Jun Pyo himself and he doesn’t even have a family.

The way Jun Pyo acted when Jandi was ridiculed at the restaurant, touched my heart and he was gracious enough to send the same delicacies they had, to her family. The almost kiss in the car was hilarious:

Why is it so hot? If I take my jacket off saying that it’s hot, she’ll probably go berserk, right? Gu Jun Pyo, now it’s the time.

And their hearts start pounding. Just when Jun Pyo leans in to kiss and Jandi closes her eyes in anticipation, her phone goes off.

Darn it. Her family is stalking them:lol:

  24. BOYS OVER FLOWERS-EPISODE SEVEN

Liked the comments made by Dramabeans, this one in particular,

For me, it’s that Jun-pyo is the only character thus far who is drawn in a complex way AND acted well. Everyone else is one or the other, but not both: Jan-di is acted anywhere from weakly to moderately well (depending on your opinion) but her character is not complex. Ji-hoo is complex but not acted terribly well. Yi-jung and Woo-bin are both acted fairly well but their characters are not complex. Same with Ga-eul. So against this character landscape, when we have one lead who is layered, complicated, and portrayed convincingly, we get: Lee Min-ho mania.

    and sonam's comment:

Yes, LMH mania! The drama should be called LMH before Flowers.:)

Loved how the episode started with Jandi chasing Jun Pyo. This couple is supposed to have ‘broken up’ ; still there is no end to their bickering, which I find so adorable. He’s such a stubborn mule that he surrendered only to his noona.

Liked the interplay between Jun Pyo and Jun Hee Noona; methinks that she’s the only other woman that Jun Pyo deeply cares for, apart from Jandi. In demeanor, they are so much alike and above all, they are big bullies too. Although she looked mean and annoying, I believe it’s her own unique way of showing her unconditional love towards her little brother.

    ypFdwfe.jpg

What was the rivalry between Jun Pyo and Ji Hoo before they met Jandi? We have hardly seen them as close friends in the first 7 episodes. At the movie theater, Jun Pyo was hurt and irritated while Ji Hoo remained calm  and  complacent: yet, it was nice to see him apologizing. For a split second, Jun Pyo seemed to want to reconcile but the moment Jandi was mentioned, he toughened up.

It’s 11 times. If you were a friend who remembered that we watched this movie 11 times, this would not have happened. You better be prepared.

The sports showdown between the two handsome hunks was glorious and fun to watch. I’m team Jun Pyo all the way, so I was rooting for him to win. However, he wanted to win by any means, fair or unfair. Now, that is something I didn’t like about him.

    7R2iDJR.jpg

What do you make of Ji Hoo’s smirk when Jun Pyo’s car skidded while he was rehearsing? In my opinion, this is the moment he figured out that Jun Pyo really loved Jandi and he began scheming to bring them together again by making them admit their feelings to each other because he was the one responsible for their break up. In episode 6, this is the moment he noticed that Jandi was feeling guilty about the betrayal and started reciprocating.
