  1. I was undecided about taking the long trip to Hong Kong for his concert because I watched some of the Youtube clips and I didn't like his hairstyle and the baggy clothes. His long hair and bangs covered his handsome face somewhat and some of his outfits covered his dance moves.  However, I am a very long time fan of his and I have always wanted to see him in person so I will try to get tickets today and keep my fingers crossed that I can get a cheap flight from Toronto.  Good luck to my fellow soompiers who are going to try and get tickets.  Hopefully I will see some of you there in Hong Kong. :D

The only thing I disagree with is that he would turn it down because the female lead is the main protagonist. After all, MLSHR was an ensemble with the female lead in practically every scene. JG didn't have a lot more screen time that Kang Ha Neul, but he totally dominated the drama. Rom coms are usually very equal with the male and female lead, even when the story revolves around the female.

I was just about to say the same as you @joybranwhen I came across your response.  He is an actor that will always shine whatever role he decides to take on. "My Girl" is an example. When I watched it years and years ago I didn't even know who he was but I felt he played the character so well that he outclassed the leading man and had more chemistry with the leading lady.

I think SYJ is the best leading lady LJG has ever had. She is a terrific actress, they look great together, and they have super chemistry.

I totally agree with you. Their characters are really in sync and I find that his leading ladies are best when they are feisty and his equal like in Arang and the Magistrate and now LL.  There was good chemistry with IU in MLSHR at the beginning but her character became wishy washy towards the end (writer's fault?).

On another note, I have to mention that I love his hairstyle in LL. His best yet, although I do like his long hair style in K&C and MLSHR. *sigh* I miss him in sageuks and I hope he would do a Goryeo drama again. I will even accept a Joseon one :tears:

Whoah, I did not know that there's so much fuss about his weight but indeed I read some comments written in my mother tongue (Indonesian- that is) about how skinny he was and all on his last post. I honestly don't see him as unhealthy, especially when I saw the jiu-jitsu demonstration during the Seoul FM where he could easily take Sanghyun (whose weight is like twice his own) down with his moves. But I can understand the comments and the concerns as well since a couple of years ago he was ''rounder'' than his current self.

I am not surprised about comments on his weight. I myself prefer him a bit heavier because it lends credence to the action scenes like in Resident Evil. He is looking a bit thin and frail to have power behind a punch but I hope the action will look realistic enough in LL to prove me wrong. He is too thin if you consider the fact that the camera adds 10 lbs to the actors and he already looks thin on camera. It is good for a fashion model but I don't think it is good for an actor.  Don't shoot me! I am just expressing my opinion and concern. I love his acting regardless of how he looks.

  5. Thank you @glassnokamen and @violina for all the FM instagram updates. It was great to hear him sing in English. The Beatles songs are classic and Let It Be is a nice slow paced song for him to practice his English diction. I hope he continues to practice his English diligently because it will help his career to no end. The LL teaser looks exciting. I can't wait for May and after it is over I hope that he will do another drama in the fall. I am missing him in a sageuk, but I will take anything because another year of waiting will be too long.

  6. @pixelsticks , I was only able to get through the first episode of Save Me because I hate shows with cults, before I skipped to the last episode. I didn't like SYJ's makeup which made her face look puffy and ugly but the makeup was better at the very end, more normal looking. As for your character interpretation of her in Lawless Attorney,  I think you place too much emphasis on how her character is going to be developed when I think LJG's character and actions will determine her role.

I like badass idea but hate emotionless robots. I hope the makers would mix it.

I wouldn't go so far as to want an emotionless robot either, but I said cool and calm because he has very expressive eyes and micro expressions that can be used effectively. I wouldn't want the direction of the character to be the usual angry mobster type that uses his fists for the sake of it which is what the plot seems to indicate (possibly a translation misinterpretation?).

It will follow the drama which will follow Hwayugi like @pixelsticks said. So broadcasting set in May :)

Otherwise I agree, the plot will be a hit or miss. The PD is good - I think he managed to bring a lot out of JG back in the time when he was young, very eager to see what it can be now. I also loved the whole atmosphere of TBDAW. Now remains the question of the writer. This type of story has to be subtle in the characterization for me, don't push too far in the melo side too soon and it can work ! ^^ If he accepts, please let this drama be good ! I kind of lost my trust in Tvn which seem to decrease in quality recently but who knows.

I think the writer is experienced and successful in this genre and the director is familiar with JG's acting style so I am not worried.  To be honest the quality in all the kdramas recently regardless of which station seems to have decreased. I am rewatching some of the older favourite kdramas when I can't get past the first few episodes of the newer dramas. Misty looks promising though, I like the actors and the suspense feel it gives.

I just hope the director doesn't prolong JG's emotional scenes. I prefer a cool, calm badass character who uses his brain and fists effectively rather than with too much emotions. However, JG is known for his tear jerking scenes which I love especially in MLSHR and his sad/angry scenes in Criminal Minds were very well done, short and effective.

Hi LadyOne, thanks for sharing the link. Yah………….another drama for LJK…..love it! I'm excited for him to return to the small screen again. Please take the role.... Plot sounds OK but it can only either be a hit or miss, though. The drama is being planned as a Saturday-Sunday drama to follow the currently airing Hwayugi.

Thank goodness for some news on his possible next project. I was starting to worry that he wouldn't do a project this year.  I have faith that it would be a hit with LJG as a lawyer with attitude  . Hello "J" from TBDAW ? TVN must have been happy with his performance on Criminal Minds to offer another project to him so soon.  I like the time frame of May, not too long to wait. There hasn't been many good kdramas to watch lately :(

Speaking of which, there is an upcoming drama that requires all JGs martial arts skills including the jujitsu. His body frame is also perfect for the role and it’s something he hasn’t done yet as well.

I will not say which one as I don’t want to jinks it. But  I am hoping he gets the role.

    Spoiler

Let me make a guess. The only two dramas that I know of that have not been cast yet is Alhambra and Prometheus.  I think both may suit him. I don't want him to do another US remake "The Mentalist" (too similar to CM) or a second season of Signal and Secret Forest (second seasons rarely live up to the original).

And then... I saw THE moment. Lee Joon Gi comes back on a boat, dressed in black with a gun in his hand - different look, different gaze, smirk and he was shooting... And that was exactly the moment when I thought something like: "Lee Min... Who?" I fell for Lee Joon Gi in a second

I loved that scene and watched it over and over again. LJG looked so cool, too bad the romance in Joseon Gunman was badly written/done. I don't understand how they won best couple award .

My story was similar to yours @cedarwood I liked Lee Min Ho first in City Hunter and Faith but then after watching Iljimae I got interested in LJG.

I ended Iljimae yesterday and I have to say I love it a lot better this second time around. After watching the final episode mom,  sis and me were discussing our thoughts about the ending

      Reveal hidden contents

Because mom thinks Iljimae is dead, sister thinks he's alive and I think it's an open ending

I'll be happy to hear your thoughts about it!

I think he was still alive on the island because his mentor got a pair of shoes for him and everyone seems too happy. Reminds me of the SWWTN ending only we got to actually see him at the end.

At least you got to enter the draw.  My package was stuck in Hong Kong with my niece and she forgot to open it and give me the serial number before she went on holiday :dissapointed_relieved:

Question of the day:What was your favourite JG drama opening?

1 - Iljimae - I love the music and the scenes show promise of some great LJG action.

2 - SWWTN - Again the music makes it exciting and full of intrigue.

3 - Criminal Minds - Nice graphics and a sophisticated feel.

    4 - MLSHR - beautiful scenery.

    5 - AATM - cute 3D stills

6 - Joseon Gunman - there were better clips that could have made this opening better.

7 - Hero - I liked the newspaper background graphics, made it a bit different from the usual.

    8 - Two Weeks

9 - TBDW - not enough scenes with LJG

    10 - My Girl - dated graphics

QUESTION: How did you all fall for JG? Which was the JG drama or movie that you watched that made you a JG junkie?

On 12/7/2017 at 10:45 PM, joybran said:

When I saw Iljimae, I became a fan. Then Gong Gil won my heart, but it was My Girl that made me a JG junkie, searching for everything he had ever done. That was summer of 2012, so Arang and the Magistrate was the first drama I watched as it aired. I have just become more addicted to him with every work he does.

It was the same for me.  I loved Iljimae and his character but the first time I saw him was in Arang when I didn't know him.  I couldn't get past the first episode because I found Shin Min Ah's character was too loud and aggressive but after I watched Iljimae I went back to AATM and marathoned through it and loved it.  I couldn't find King and the Clown to watch for a few years but looked for all his other shows and his acting has progressed so well that I remain hooked.  I can't wait for his next project
