@hiluna Why would she say that ML is lost cause in Korean showbiz industry. That is so wrong. How can we put down our favourite drama. The drama won the Best Brand or something in Korea. It consistently ranked 1st or 2nd on CPI amongst dramas & entertainment shows. It experienced to rank 1st on TV rating amongst dramas aired on the same time slot.  And Lee Joon Gi has become the most buzzworthy amongst Korean actors. So how on earth it become a lost cause?

And Yes I agree we have to be positive with our comments. But saying ML is a lost cause is definitely not positive at all.

Sorry but I was agreeing more with the general feel of the post rather than specifics. "lost cause" I think was too strong and has negative connotations. I don't agree with it being a lost cause, but I do think it is cursed with poor decision making on the part of production and upper management

Sorry for the repost. this is his danse on the FM and the comparison of the girlband

His dancing is better than the girls :w00t: Even with that shapeless sweater on you can see his hip movement is more emphasized than the girls. His frame has a looser feel also, his flexibility coming into play.

@sosooyah19 Agree just 5 seconds of them facing eachother would have satisfied me. But the fear the not getting to see the original ending and important deleted scenes is making me crazy! :sweatingbullets:

If we are very very v... lucky maybe IU and LJG will win the couple award and act out the last scene on stage.  That would be quite something for the fans. :w00t:

Especially his costumes in this drama. They are all beautiful! And his face, i swear, he is trillion times more good looking with the long hair and even if it's in a bun to the extent that sometimes he is more pleasant to look at than his leading lady. I am relieved because that's not the case in this drama. LJE has this unusual young and innocent demeanor, it perfectly matched LJG that made their chemistry undeniable and out of this world. The casting agent of this drama deserves a shoutout. Anyway back to him in a historical role, there's something unique in him when he is portraying such a role that his presence impact is so much. And i think that presence impact is the x factor that makes the producers and agents keep on casting him.

He mentioned in several of his interviews that he wants to star in a contemporary role and i know he can because he's a versatile actor but to me he is just a normal korean guy who can act whenever i see him in such a role regardless if he is wearing a suit or tux. Well, him in a suit or tux is at least better compared to other casual clothes and it's the main reason why i can tolerate to watch him in the lotte web drama but still it can't match the impact when he is in a historical role. I give so much emphasis on the impact and it doesn't mean that it is my only basis, it's just a preference. Please don't hate me for being honest. Persective is subjective so i know that a lot of his other fans will not agree with me.

I think it really depends on the drama and the role. The Lotte drama is more a marketing type show, he did his part easy peasy but I think what he is looking for in his next drama is something very different. I like him in an anti-hero action role in modern day. Now that he has risen to a king in sageuk, I hope to see him at a higher level role in modern day and not his usual victimized character role. In an interview, he said that he has still to find that one perfect role for himself although I think Wang So was near perfect for him if only they had more episodes to expand his character pre-palace days. There could be a whole young Wang So storyline there.

hi guys .. i would like to ask something .. can an actor from korea , can win an international tv award if the drama is famous in that country ? because if Korean industry cant give recognition to joongi/casts/the drama , i am wishing for them to win an international awards , because for me that is already a big achievement .

2007 King and the Clown won an award in the Deauville American Film Festival, 2015 Joseon Gunman won in Worldfest- Houston International Film Fest. Jackie Chan just won an Academy Award, so it is not unheard of for a foreign actor to be recognized by international awards.

If he doesn't win it, it would be better for him not to be nominated at all. We should all know by now that MLSHR is a lost cause in the Korea showbiz industry. Just take the earlier releases as an error or rumor. I think we should just stop talking about and let this matter rest (move on). Let not make the life of LJG’s harder, trying to appease both industry power house and fans. Understand from this forum that his Korean fans are silent about it, I respected them for their fan etiquette…

Think about it this way, every negative statement we make is like my mum telling my boss you are a bad superior how could you treat your staff like this. I wonder how will I ever find favor with my boss after that. I think I will be the last person on his list for any great job, while all the lousy job has my name on it. If this news spread, other bosses may not be keen to hire me even if I am very good at my job, so that they do not have to deal with unnecessary negative attention if things happen to turn south for whatever reason. Therefore, reducing opportunity to shine.

Being in Showbiz is a very very tough job more so in Korea, where competition is so great and there could also be higher power at play. Let support our favorite actors and actress all the way without negativity, boost their search count with positivity. LJG worked very hard on thi, lets not let his effort go down the drain any further.

Still loved my every morning read about MLSHR in this forum, so much that I have not moved on to another drama. I still cannot love another, my heart is still filled.

You are right. We should all go with the flow for Joon Gi's sake. It is enough for me that we know his performance as Wang So is the best, shown by all the love his fans are giving him, old and new alike.  If there are too many negative comments and attitude from us against the higher ups, they may be more reluctant to cast him or broadcast his dramas. There will always be politics in this business so let us not make it harder for our beloved actor to navigate through those waters. He is a veteran actor and he has experienced the negative politics in this business I am sure, so I hope he won't take it to heart if he doesn't get the awards. He knows millions of fans love and appreciate his acting, not just his pretty face :kiss_wink:

Wow, yes, incredibly biased selections and descriptions. Where was Oh Hae-young Again for most dysfunctional relationship, for instance ('cause that show relayed a ton of effed relationship messages)? And in the "worst" categories, the MLSHR descriptions aren't even accurate. I'll vote for the good categories, again, but argh.

I would have expected Wang So and his mother on the list as the most dysfunctional relationship EVER !!!

My lack of love for Nam Sang Mi impairs any enjoyment I'm able to have for those shows. She was all wrong for Joseon Gunman IMO. For a show about espionage, Time Between Dog and Wolf moves too slowly for me. Action sequences in Joseon Gunman are great especially the scene where he takes down the bandits but there's not enough of them. This is my problem with sageuk sword fights, they just end too quickly. Iljimae takes forever to get going and it's too much like so many sageuks of that period. It's disappointingly by-the-numbers.

I really like Two Weeks though despite all the histrionics by the coppers in the early episodes. LJG does some great acting in that drama, almost comparable to Moon Lovers. The little girl is a delight.

Once I go on holidays, I will marathon Arang although I'm not a fan of ghost stories. At least I know I like Shin Min-A. :D

Totally agree with you about NSM. I fast forward most of the romance bits except his teasing scenes. As a co-star for Joon Gi, once was enough and it is a real pity that she was his co-star again in Joseon Gunman and a sageuk at that :tears:, ruined it for me. I was really concerned about IU as his co-star in ML but they looked really good together in those Cosmo photos so it was a nice surprise that there was chemistry between them in the drama.

I am so excited already for the SBS awards!! He's walking in the red carpet with IU so I think there is a HUGE chance they'll win Best Couple. For the Kwave star award, I'm really torn because LJG is my fave Korean actor but PSH is my fave Korean actress. Decisions!!hahaha (though I know some of you here are not PSH fans) With regards to LJG, I will stand by my prediction that our Joon Gi will win three to four awards and I'm crossing my fingers that will include Daesang. Moon Geun Young beat LJG in 2008 for Daesang even though Iljimae had higher ratings. (LJG and MGY are now on the same agency.) So hopefully, they will give it to Joon Gi this time around. I agree that Kim Rae Won is his ultimate competition for Daesang. Though I think LJG's acting performance in MLSHR is top notch this year. SBS should give the Grand prize to LJG.

I hope LJG will beat out KRW for daesang because the Doctor Crush role was really a piece of fluff any actor could have done, whereas nobody else could have done the Wang So role as well as our Joon Gi. I just hope they don't give it to KRW just because he missed it for Punch.

I am one of the few who dislike "Goblin" and anything penned by Kim Eun Sook. The fact that I dropped all her major hits including Secret Garden, The Heirs, Descendants of The Sun and now Goblin really cemented the fact that her writings never resonated with me. I swear for the life of me that I will only watch a KES drama if she gets Joon Gi to headline her drama. Not supposed to undermine other actor but we all know that Gong Yoo is not Joon Gi. He is a pleasant actor but I would not put him in the same league as Joon Gi. Those that I really could place on the same level as Joon Gi are Jang Hyuk, Ji Sung and So Ji Sub.

I find Gong Yoo is okay but you are right, the other actors you mentioned are more in line with Joon Gi. They all have more intense acting ability, although I haven't seen Gong Yoo's acting in Train from Busan which is supposed to be good (not a fan of zombie movies).  I think KES dramas have a lighter touch but DOTS does have its moments of depth because of the subject matter.

Don't worry. We are hoping for the same thing. He looks good in those winter clothes too. I guess CT is scheduled for a spring release though after Shin Min Ah's drama, which will take over Goblin's timeslot. Not on topic, but I'm loving Goblin so far. Wish our Joon GI can take on a drama/role like this. Anyways, really can't wait for the SBS awards. And wishing everyone here an advance Merry Christmas!! :)

I am watching Goblin as well and like it but I can't help thinking that LJG would suit the part more because his looks are more otherworldly and his expressions can vary more than Gong Yoo's. I can imagine LJG confusing the girl more with his scary/mean/caring/loving looks than Gong Yoo who looks like a puppy dog rather than someone who has a bloody history and with the power of a god. I hope Joon Gi will pick a winner for his next project, he so deserves it. Happy Holidays everyone !

@lisethvrThank you for posting the video of Lee Joon Gi with Holley - it was heart-warming to see their bond and friendship :)  I have watched it several times now and I am so thankful for the English subs :D  Their friendship is an interesting story from the interviews I have read.  I'm so glad they keep in touch despite busy lives.  I love the photo of him with Holley and the other person - you can see that he hasn't really changed just matured ..... beautifully

I became a Lee Joon Gi fan after watching him in Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo. He was so good in that series and literally blew me away with his acting skills! I hope he tries a rom com drama next time !! Cannot wait for his next series!:)

I am not sure I want him in a romantic comedy unless the writer is outstanding and the co-star is at his level of acting.  He did "Hero" and that was so-so.

Hahah I'm so with you. I'm all the way "OMG girl you followed him tho you'd no idea who he is?! yaaw he could be serial killer in disguise!" just because he's LJG lol. The part he'd played the slides of pics got me goosebumps "What a stalker!" Hahah I would jump and run. That's a sign you gonna get killed soon might stab and throw you into the pool. Nevertheless, he's so fine that I grinned and smiled throughout the episode  tho the storyline is so cheesy~

I didn't particularly like his role as the church oppa. I can see why he says he can't act in romantic roles, there isn't enough depth in that kind of character for him. He could certainly play the romantic psycho role to perfection. I would love to see him in a "Monte Cristo" kind of role in a modern drama.

I swear I will not watch another work of this director. I started two years ago 'It's ok that's love' but I don't think I will ever finish it even though it's good.

I think some of us are too harsh on the director.  MLSHR is still a beautiful piece of work and I think there may have been extenuating circumstances beyond his control of which the number of episodes may have been one of them. I believe it was originally supposed to be 30+ episodes so somewhere down the line someone made the mistake of deciding that 20 was enough and I don't think it was the director.  It seems more likely a management/marketing decision. Maybe a more experienced writer could have done a better compression job of the story but again this drama was intended to promote all the idols turned actors so cutting characters would have been an issue (the Woo Hee character was not necessary to the story). Where I hold the director at fault is the pacing and editing issues, they could have been much better. Anyway, MLSHR is still a hit in my eyes so I am grateful to the whole cast and production team for giving this drama to us.

This Goblin, is this korean version of Highlander (love this movie)? The immortal guy fall in love with mortal girl? I am curious with this drama. Looks promising.

Yeah me too! I don't think I can watch Goblin yet especially after seeing Gong Yoo dressed like Wang So. I am not a fan of Gong Yoo although I did watch Coffee Prince a few times but he can't compare to LJG when it comes to the "sageuk" look.

Gosh, how many weeks has it been without MLSHR? My heart still feels empty.  It's like a forever lingering hangover.  I tell myself it's just a freaking kdrama DAMN IT!  That doesn't seem to work at all.  Oh how I wish things were different.  I wish for more.  I will never be ok knowing Wang So is left forever lonely in the palace.  How many times will Hae Soo wake up from her dream crying until she meets him again? Ugh...the feels.

I am finally getting over it. I watched a really good drama with Shin Min Ah "The Devil" and that did it for me. After that I watched the last 4 eps of MLSHR and I only got tearful at the end when she died, a big improvement from my usual sobbing through the episodes.

I confess that it was a big surprise for me when I read that LGJ was nominated for the Daesang award. Not because he would not deserve it (in my opinion his performance was by far the best this year), but because of the low rating that ML drama received. But to be nominated and then erase from the list it's a undeserved blow. I apologize if my comment is too harsh but it's obvious that with this drama something was fishy from the beginning in Korea. I know about dissatisfaction towards the editor, PD or writer but in the end, LJG was the one who received the blows. May I ask why? :(

Hmm... I wonder whether it is payback at the fans for giving SBS such a hard time about the baseball games and the change in the ending.  I hope they aren't that petty but they may have considered the show a disaster from their point of view. :(

I think Twice is the "it" girl group at the moment.

The dance moves are meant to look feminine. I like when he did the hand stretching at the beginning. It like was he was thinking "I could pull this off". Then he did the celebratory hand stretching at the end of the dance which looks like he was saying "I did it". :)

LJG is quite of a character. He himself is as interesting as those characters he played in his movie and drama. The more I see the many sides of LJG, the more curious I am of him.

I think at the end there when he stretched out his arm and he had his head turned away there was an expression of relief that it was over  He really goes overboard for his fans. These fan meetings looks like he has to put a lot of energy into them so I am not surprised to see that he is looking thinner.  I hope that after they are over he gets a nice long break to relax, eat and sleep.:)

I would have died peacefully if it was IU who played role opposite him. Infact it doesn't even matter if IU isn't the lead, she can just show up for 1 minute at the end to show he ended up with her while the main lead chose someone else. Heck! I'll even take bumping into him on street if that's all they will give us!

It would be awesome if IU had a cameo and did just bump into him and he gets distracted from the lead girl, turns to IU and asks "have I met you before?" with a soul searing look of recognition.

No, what I mean is in the earlier episode when WS was injured, his sister came and treat his wound. and they seem to be more than just sibling when he said "I was wondering what kind of women you grow up to be". They grew up together, so I was wondering maybe he might have a crush on her or something. But of course I know he hated her after the marriage was forced on him.

I want HS to be his first and only love. so I just want to confirm that I'm right.

I don't think it could be just the forced marriage that made him hate her. I have a feeling there was a scene cut where Wook must have told or hinted at her part in the poisoning incident, otherwise why would he say that she and his son would be after him one day.  If you look at it from his perspective, unless he knows the bad things that she has done, a political marriage is not unusual, there is really not much to cause him to hate her given that he seemed fond of her before. I think he was protective of her when they were growing up and he probably did have a crush on her but I think Soo was his first real love.
