  1. Hello hello all.. for those who liked the soulful song in ep 18.. wanna share something i saw.. my valentine just got a little more fluttery

    Source: https://zapzee.net/2021/02/09/gyeong-ree-participates-in-mr-queens-ost-with-but-i-miss-you/

“But I Miss You” was released first on the 18th episode of Mr. Queen on the 7th. The song expresses how Kim So Yong (played by Shin Hye Sun) is reminiscing of her memories with Cheol Jong (Kim Jung Hyun). The singer made the drama even more immersive with her pure and mournful voice.

Most importantly, Park Gyeong Ree’s “But I Miss You” will be released once again in the epilogue Mr. Queen: The Bamboo Forest, which contains episodes that TVING did not air in the main episodes of the drama. Fans are excited at the news as the singer is to once again please the viewers’ ears.

Sooo. I caught up here on the forum and on the episodes... Can anyone relate when the CJ wrote that heartbreaking note for the baby and he was "dead"? I was crying but was immediately happy again when the CJ wasn't dead!

Cue spoiler tag to not spoil anyone's mood..

    Spoiler

My thought is more like king has the male lead shield of life (until his real death at the end, not likely but not entirely impossible..) and how the baby diary can nicely open up to the page the king has written thanks to the invisible hand of script writing. *ducks to hide* please excuse the ramblings of some random cynical old lady here..

Not helping BI much here but I truly hope there is some sort of trail to redemption for him. I know his obsession with SY is not healthy (for him and for her) but the fact that he is willing to turn his back on the Kim clan and his entire family and name for SY says a lot here. I was definitely taken away from the preview for episode 19 where BI could be heard saying: "You're not SY... But you have her memories so SY is still (in) you." And Na In-woo plays BI to the zenith of ACTUALLY making me feel pity/bad for BI. Darn those puppy eyes with rage and anger! Ugh! *Insert the King's ROAR here* lol.

Yeah he has become our resident psycopath but he wins my sympathy because it looks like he's on track to be the tragic hero to save the queen and possibly the king haha.. I like to frame his obsession in the light of his prime motivation to protect her from mortal danger first before winning her affections. Though it would be nice if he ends up being one of the king's comrade who always keeps him in check and always secretly loving the queen (but please BI, no touchy). You know, like the motley crew around the king.. the bipolar queen, director hong the clown, dour prince YP and BI the ambivalent strategist something like that.. even kim hwan the networker

I thought the entire story where SB escapes the place to find CJ was a bit strange(?). They locked the palace gate and Hanyang's gates and so she just walks right out with her two maids and arrow through GUARDS? Not even gonna bring up the baby right now because that's just crazy to even think of at the moment. Kinda curious if it was to plan a road/story where BI has a redemption, etc. Looking forward to surprises like when SY shot an arrow at BI's leg or when Jo Hwa-Jin came into the palace and was so thankful (I loved how she came around by the way).

Yeah and I was wondering wouldn't they still have to be in mourning clothes at that point in time. Although I absolutely love BH swagger there when s(he) breezes pass the guards, it still feel strange that she can just walk out in the middle of the night to go hunting with only her court maid and lady in the middle of the king's supposed funeral where he's supposedly killed by rebels. But I guess if she really must be at the cliff/forest.. it still beats the other alternative of her neotwigi-ing all the way out of the gates of hanyang..

Notwithstanding my left brain sensibility that flashes every now and then, this drama has been a first for me in so many respect. First of all I really think that the casting team really hit the jackpot here. It's really SHS and KJH acting, visuals and chemistry that really got me hooked. I mean I watched CLOY because of all the hype around it but to be honest BinJin didn't draw me in the way it did with this drama. I imagine if BinJin were to lead the drama instead, I think the effect wouldn't have been this potent... at least for me. Of course this is arguable, plenty of kdrama pundits here could offer many other potential candidates out there. If KJH said that he hoped that Mr Queen would usher in an era of more sageuk being produced, it definitely has introduced to me, a rat race ahjumma the world of livestreaming,  rewatching past episodes while waiting for weekends to come, soompi forum and watching IG live of korean celebrity. Most of all it just conjures all this nice heady youthful whirlwind of emotions that tend to get lost with worries of adulting.

With all that said, can't wait for my valentine treat :please:

My exact thought there. The simplest road to hushing down the rumor. But no they chose to stop.. I'll just tell myself that it's because once they start they can't stop

  3. @gglex6275 hey like your take there. No doubt sobong's just behaving like herself.  I'm just saying that, in reality, a miscarriage is almost guaranteed with the stunts that she have pulled. However this being a drama, creative liberties are a given for entertainment sake..

On BI, granted this dude has serious boundary issues and will annoy a lot of more sensible, level headed and rational people out there..

I have a soft spot for him and is hoping for a cathartic fitting end for him to be redeemed because there is a kind of poetic beauty in the notion of loving someone unconditionally and only exist in the realm of imagination.

@enzek let me know if you ever write a kdrama parody!

  4. @shimshimae well said chingu! :kiss_wink: it's a synergistic effect of the context, visuals, cinematography, background music, acting.. yes, i would hold that emotional connection to the context/ story having the most weight for what makes a great kiss worth remembering..

That guy is too shy. In Mr Queen BTS of making out scenes, he put on an expressionless faces all the time.....:dead:

This ahjumma's (ME) guilty of fetish for taciturn good looking ripped young man currently embodied by KJH *ahem cough cough* (oh oh and sexy vocals..)

Since Desember till now, wow from December 12th and soon will be end in February 14th. I hope TvN will give us lovely Valentine's gift for us.

Good point about this being a Valentine's gift and didn't they say the drama's supposed to comfort us in this pandemic? So I'm almost sure it is going to be a happy ending in the sense the king, queen survives and continue to be king and queen (symbolic or not) and in love, not confused about their feelings and bonus, we see them with their baby and super bonus, we see a real kiss, doesn't matter if fully clothed (not the change scene or fade out when their lips are 1" apart kind). But how they make the story make sense is another story.

I'm also still holding out for BI being the good guy in the end to help king in his agenda in some way but why do I feel he might also get killed off in the end..

Why is it the pregnant in the first trimester queen who has to literally go walking out into the countryside in the dead of winter to look for the queen along with 2 court ladies??!!! armed with only a bow and arrow he barely knows how to use!!!

Let's see, our queen in her first trimester has:

    1. Jumped down from a high wall. You know, the scene when they sneaked back into the palace after their secret night out to discuss military strategy and the whole jungchul jealous of kimhwan hijinks

    2. Gone on a horseback ride for presumably quite a distance to get to the royal summer house or something

    3. Jumped down from a high wall again before bumping into applauding HY and CL Choi and has plans to jump from an even higher Hanyang wall

Ok I get that sobong is clueless about pregnancy but this must be like a super fetus or something! I mean, for them to have time her fertility cycle correctly or when her pregnant symptom should start to show up, did they get another writer to write the first trimester timeline? Sorry this is the ahjumma in me speaking.

Anyway, I get that this is creative freedom, so I'm just going to ignore it and cross my fingers for more rom com or heart fluttering moment between the king and the queen and we will see the safe arrival of the baby PLEASE.

  7. I just had a random thought here after seeing kjh making out with seo yeji in a precovid drama.. if i could just ask the production team one random trivia question.. was the episodes after episode 8/9 hot kiss filmed with stricter covid precautionary measure that didn't allow real kisses? Scientifically though, to be that close without a mask is already at risk.. i guess i can kinda appreciate the production team dilemma here.. well anyway here's to hoping for at least one more real make out scene ala ep 8/9 either in the remaining episode or spin off episode

  8. Thanks to the person who made this!

Hazarding a guess for fun: Soyong wanted to see how the king looks like but somehow misses her chance whenever she tried to. Just when she least expected it, they met under the snow (hopefully first snow)  Perhaps this is the first time cheoljong laid eyes on her and fall in love with her instantaneously under the falling snow before knowing that she was a Kim.

Like everyone else here, the spin-off and what we have seen so far as of episode 16 feels disjointed to me at the moment. Pre-queen KSY acting almost like sobong here, so what gives? Isn't the king supposed to be in love with hwajin at this time also? Then again, you can't fault him there. I'd fall in love with her too. :joy: Lets take it that he intuitively felt the soul mate connection.

But maybe after watching the final 4 episodes, we can link the spin-off to the story better. Actually I feel the spin-off is kind of alluding to soyong and bonghwan to be the same soul. Same personality as in perfectionistic and determined to make her mark but unfortunately soyong is restricted to the socialization of her time and perhaps a little sheltered from the reality she's in until she entered the palace.

This. I really don't know what to expect.

    And this one:

The production team of the show stated, “Kim So Yong and Cheoljong are experiencing another crisis. More so than romance, you will see a heart-fluttering camaraderie.” The drama next airs on February 6 at 9 p.m. KST. (https://www.soompi.com/article/1452561wpp/shin-hye-sun-and-kim-jung-hyun-dance-a-tango-together-in-mr-queen)

Please, I need more ROMANCE than camaraderie even if it is heart-fluttering! :Please:

  9. i think cheoljong's character and charm are grounded in, first and foremost, his responsibility to his people and like it or not, romance was never in the front seat in his agenda (at least in the beginning). it is a fact that he was attracted to hwajin in the beginning as her character is supposed to be this beautiful girl that any guy would fall for. cheoljong never even bothered with soyong due to his initial stereotype that as long as you're a kim, you're the bad guys.

i feel destiny is a big theme with this drama. the king will not be able to fight his destiny to eventually fall in love with the queen and she (sobong/soyong) is really his antifan (guardian angel). we saw the beginning starts with an "error" - king x hwajin, plot develops in such a way to show the corrections that supposed to take place and the lake is kind of like this magical portal or catalyst to facilitate king x soyong as the match made in heaven. to me, when the king saved sobong from the lake, it was the turning point of things starting to go back to its rightful place. no matter how hwajin tries to fight it, king is never meant to be hers. now that things are rolling in the right direction, i think the story can really begin to see how the king x queen fight and hopefully prevail against their enemies.

the king owns the queen big time. she saved him when he was a kid. saved him and his lover, go along with his kiss act to cover his snooping activity, saved him from the well second time, defended him in public, saved his banquet and even become his partner in crime in his life mission. now he even impregnated her. he shunned her in the beginning and even tried to kill her and her father. from this point of view, i can see why byeong-in is angry with the king. intended or not, sobong made many sacrifices for the king and his dreams. i don't feel the king has match up so far because his first "love" is his bigger dream for joseon. of course things will change now since he's a father and having corrected how he views the queen. looks like it's going into the superhero in love conundrum how he's going to balance his bigger goal vs protecting his loved ones. for me, the only way he can make up to the queen is to be powerful enough and go on to live a long life to make queen happy and safe. if he give up his life for the queen/child and achieve nothing while queen/child lives on in misery, it will not do justice to everything that has happened.

on hindsight, I'm angry at the ep 9 kiss scene. the kiss scene is hot, no doubt about it. but when you really think about it, he was just kissing sobong to cover his tracks when he haven't really sort out how he feels about her and even thinks that she likes him. he has no qualms about using her feelings for him to further his agenda. but perhaps the kiss is needed to ignite the spark for him. and then after she saved him from the well, i didn't even see him thanking her other than his first concern that sobong keeps his secret. but i guess sobong is there to facilitate his character growth to be more humane.

on a side note, king's recognition that the queen is the rightful owner of the dongmongseonseup was rather uneventful but i feel touched at SHS's laugh at the end saying "good question." it really felt like two old friends meeting after a long time and it looks like bonghwan's sincere and warm expression.

But the book is in CJ's possession all this time.....HJ didn't return it recently....

i don't exactly remember but didn't HJ mentioned something about keeping it cleaner or something if she knew how precious it is to CJ but i also don't recall how the book return from HJ to CJ.

also thought it weird that BI can just enter and retrieve the book from the queen's quarters and he looks like he knows what he's doing when he leaf the pages and rip out the page for investigation?

I hope they would not do any harm to the Queen and Royal Baby.  No wonder I saw King CJ was like "going into battle" in the preview of next epi.

i saw a (blurry) photo of choi court lady holding a blue bundle beside the queen somewhere in twitter. baby looks very much alive there but who knows?

from romantic justice partner-in-crime to protecting their lovechild now, i'm excited to see how the dynamic changes.. :fullofhearts:

still betting on alternate universe, byeong-in redemption (please? :cutekitty:)

When the queen is pregnant with the royal heir, her position as queen strengthens.

Sobong has declared herself to be an ally of the king. If the queen's power go stronger, king's position will be further strengthened. So their enemies wouldn't want that..

Also possibly this can grow into a scandal as an opportunity to take down the queen..

looks like no ramyeon hot night at this point but this is mr queen we are talking about so..

anyways implied ramyeon dirty talk was hot to me actually :naughty:

@ soggy ramyeon.. i was thinking the exact same thing

many rewind-multiple-times-while-i-wait-for-the-weekend worthy scenes in ep 15 (even without king x queen kiss scene).. i think i skip less scenes compared to the other episodes.. stan every second of the episode that has the queen in it like the king :smirk:
