  1. me too... still reeling from ep12 even though there's no sub

i don't know if i can look back at the past episodes in the same light anymore.. i feel so sorry for the king and the queen

i find this exchange between the king and the queen touching too. sobong knew the king's end game, that's why she said what she said, perhaps a little too casually in that signature bonghwan style.

Complimenting above twitter with Dramamilk recap:

    https://www.dramamilk.com/live-recap-mr-queen-ep-12-part-1/

She tells him, okay, we are no touchy. Fine. He hurries off. Yeon asks, your highness, why do you say those things that you do not mean? The Queen says, even if I say dumb things, I have my meaning behind it. I don’t say things I don’t mean.

    Our Sobong pearl of wisdom:

In this world worrying about celebrities and king are useless

    • I suspect the second half of Act 2 will move into a palace rebellion phase. We've seen new costumes from production photos that suggest this. Sobong will have to abandon her manic pet projects and declare herself, just as the king does. This will mean facing her own feelings as well as backing her king publicly. (Doesn't it feel like she and the king are in two different shows sometimes?) She has always, man or woman, run away from her problems. That must change for her to grow as a person.

 i'm waiting for that to happen too.. we're at the 12th episode by today.. hopefully next week the plot progresses. ok to be fair guess i'm just a tad impatient.. after all they just realized that they didn't want to kill each other as much, the king's affections just changed from hwajin to sobong in a span of a week, sobong is still getting used to the changes to herself and there's the other things they're occupied with.. but part of the fun was her inadvertently being an anti-fan (guardian angel) to the king like choosing the 3 right concubines, run into him in the well while he's passed out etc.

    on a fangirl-y side note:

  3. @aisling yeah seems like when they're getting closer emotionally, they're getting further physically. they had more moments together when they were "enemies".

does this mean we have to sit thru some episode of king x hwajin and byeong-in x queen before the happy ending (i'm assuming happy ending cos didn't the team say that this is supposed to be a feel good show?) :criesariver:

just hoping the kiss action in the queen's home is not the last..

my fantasy: and then king super touched by sobong's cooking and go "to hell with saving the world!", grab sobong and then hot night ~the end

Shin Hye Sun Shakes Up Royal Cuisine By Hilariously “Inventing” A Modern Dish On “Mr. Queen”

Shin Hye Sun will be shaking up the palace kitchens on the next episode of tvN’s “Mr. Queen”!

    Spoilers

Previously on “Mr. Queen,” Kim So Yong (played by Shin Hye Sun) and King Cheoljong (played by Kim Jung Hyun) started to feel drawn to one another, raising the question of how their evolving relationship will change the power dynamics within the palace.

On January 15, the hit drama released a fun sneak peek of its upcoming episode, in which Kim So Yong will breathe fresh air into Joseon royal cuisine by hilariously “inventing” a dish that no one there has ever heard of: tornado potatoes, a popular Korean street food from modern day.

After being ordered by Queen Sunwon (played by Bae Jong Ok) to teach royal chef Man Bok (played by Kim In Kwon) her cooking skills, Kim So Yong begins to feel nervous that she may soon no longer be “needed” around the palace. In an attempt to survive, Kim So Yong will attempt to use her K-beauty know-how to prove her value—but she eventually winds up being forced to return to the kitchen to bring out the big guns by playing her “tornado potatoes card.”

To find out why Kim So Yong must abandon her foray into K-beauty and turn to tornado potatoes as a last resort, viewers will need to tune in to the next episode of “Mr. Queen” on January 16.

The producers of “Mr. Queen” teased, “The changes in Cheoljong and Kim So Yong, who is currently in fierce denial of her growing feelings, will also shake up the power dynamics within the palace. Please look forward to the drama’s second act, which will become even more electrifying through heart-fluttering transformations.”

    Yes, you're right.

I think I watched his interview/old IG story some days ago when he said that his MBTI personality type is INFP. Well, knowing that he's so perfectionist and serious playing his role in films, It does really fit him.

wow KJH's MBTI's INFP? that' very very rare for guys. coupled with his wonderful physique, he just became my dream guy

apart from swooning over SHS x KJH moments, SHS cuteness, can't help but also gush over KJH broad shoulders. he looked gorgeous in many of the attires but my favorite is when he's wearing white like this one and when he's in the bath tub with the queen

Queen So Bong is a straight forward kind of person.

She won't write letter, she will just crash his chamber and then talk to him instead if there is anything she want to tell her Cheoljongiiee. Who impersonated our queen here?:hushed:

as much i love the idea of a genuine nocturnal love letter, agree with this totally. don't know if i can stomach the bad things that will happen from there :tired:

What if the king is a woman in the modern time and so yong is bong hwan? They don’t meet each other yet but maybe that’s the ending. They will meet as man and woman in the future.

ya.. future JBH with future female king reincarnate played by SHS giving him a blow kiss saying "today i'm not doing the no touching" :kiss_wink::lol:

  7. @Lj yeah i was wondering the same thing cos somewhere i see it was lying down beside her

thinking about the part where she mumbled something like "why? u always wanted a daughter.." something lidat.. when she was in a vegetative state which prompted the king to say, "yeah u missed your mom bla bla.."

wondering will this point be addressed later about the connection between bonghwan and soyong's soul.. i do wonder why bonghwan's soul went back to soyong's body after it first went back to his body after he was resuscitated

SHS has a very cute face, so i sort of associated her with being petite but she's actually so tall! she's like almost the same height with KJH.. but yeah, she is an actress..

I don’t know it’s it because I live in Europe (but I’m ethnically Asian) where people are generally more open minded but I just don’t understand why are some people (mostly on YouTube) so upset if So Bong falls in love with Cheoljong. They’re posting comments like “But that’s a man’s soul in a body, why are they kissing?”

Love wouldn’t love if one could control it. Is it such a sin for one soul to connect with another soul regardless of their gender? Technically it’s not even BL because the main protagonist still has a woman’s body. I still don’t know if the writers will be bold enough or they’re going to do a safe “Oh My Ghostess” ending.

not me.. i'm actually all good with the mild LBGT slant here.. i think it's essential for context and art

i don't think it'll be a oh my ghost type end at this point.. i'm starting to think the speculation that bonghwan is somehow the "reincarnation" of soyong has some weight.. their meeting in the water must have been due some kind of deeper connection. and bonghwan may be her future self who's living out the life she wanted as a free spirit as opposed to the "suffocating" life she had

    Spoiler

but i really don't know what to expect when the queen gets shot by hwajin although we know the show can't end yet.. haha

  9. please excuse this random fan rambling on a weekend..

firstly i really thank the mr queen team for the fan service of the extended kissing session in the opening scene :Megathanks: very very well executed. the plot, the angle, the acting.. (am still hopeful for KJH and SHS to be a real life couple after this because i think some real attraction must exist at some level for them to kiss like that.. i don't think i've ever seen that side of SHS but i'm all ears if someone has, i mean, from her dramas..) really can't have enough of the king and queen romance!!! the king and the queen has gone far from no touching to antifan now..

haha.. to be honest i'm quite entertained by the subtle LBGT flavor in the show.. i mean, the original soyong is a noblewoman in the joseon era would probably be more coy and passive when making out but bonghwan is a guy and part of the reason why the kiss just went off the roof is because we kind of see the king and sobong sort of "compete" to take the lead when kissing (sorry i can't describe in a better way) we see how sobong pin the king to the wall once s(he) gets into it and then the king flips her over to take control again cos well, he's the king.. i would even go as far as to argue that bonghwan is the better kisser (ok this is subjective) given that his character is a seasoned womanizer.. and there're so many things mixed in there. the rebel king who needs to guard his heart for the greater good (since this woman is from the kim clan. even if he doesn't mind it, his faction prolly would), the king as a man who hasn't quite sort out his feelings for the queen, the king's desires, soyong's feelings for the king, soyong's innocent desires and bonghwan's prowess, bonghwan's heterosexual soul.. all this giving rise to an element of forbiddence juxtapose with what we see on surface that they're the royal couple .. can't believe i'm dissecting their kiss now. and i love the "bromance" between them.. their tactical and realist mindset are matched evenly. it's the only reason the king becomes comfortable to approach sobong in the first place. we saw earlier that the king did point out to soyong to not complicate things before she jumps into the lake and transformed. sobong as bonghwan has no illusions about the king's affectionate gesture and understood that it's all political and plays along when it's in his/her favor. given the innocence of soyong, such acts would have broken her heart (which have led her to jump into the lake in the first place). and also, because of sobong's uncouth masculine behaviour, the king finds it easier to share part of his real self instead of sticking to the usual palace decorum. granted that both bonghwan and the king are no angels, they do operate by largely the same ethical guidelines..

on a side note, i also find the king so charming in the sense that he doesn't go all the way with sobong in the heat of the moment respecting that s(he) doesn't seem to want it. but of course, he needs to go do his mission and doesn't have the time for all that.. but i think what made me all fangirly about it is the potential. he could have stopped once they were out of sight but it feels possible at some point that the king would act out of his desire and went all the way if sobong didn't put a stop to it.

i think the currrent episode is calm before the storm.. don't know if i can stomach the part when the bad guys are winning.. actually we haven't seen any intimate scenes between the king and hwajin but it's probably bound to happen sooner or later but perhaps it's only during this time that he will come to his senses that he didn't feel the same when he kisses the fake soyong vs the real soyong. at this point it still seemed to me that his mind is still registered that hwajin is the woman he loves. in this respect the plot is similar to the little mermaid where the prince fall for the princess whom he sees when he first open his eye after being saved when his actual lifesaver was the little mermaid (hoping that the ending will be different from the original Hans Christian Andersen version). byeongin will be important - whether he can heed the hero in him to vouch for the truth. i just don't see the king changing his mind only by sobong's testimony of what really happen on that night of their childhood as it happens right now the trust he has in hwajin will be greater in spite of all that has happened in the span of few days. at this point i still believe byeongin will shine through because he did help little soyong to rescue cheoljong and maybe by a little stretch of the imagination will be a indispensable court subject if cheoljong is successful in his coup. that would be so nice.

at this point, for me, a merged sobong and an alternate universe ending would make for a more fitting ending rather than the oh my ghost type ending where soyong gets the king and bonghwan return to his life but of course, i'm not the writer.. at the end of the day, i do prefer to remember mr queen as a hybrid body swap/parallel universe type show rather than a typical body swap show.

once again, really kudos to the excellent acting and chemistry of SHS and KJH to bring joy in the midst of the pandemic and uncertainties..
