) next to JG. But I didn't notice that height difference when she was partnered with SJK when both males are the same height(178cm/5"10) or are my eyes deceiving me?
Is it because the males have different body builds, or different auras? different ages?(JG is older than SJK by three years)Because both are considered short(I don't, especially JG.I think he is average height) compared to the other 80's liners, but both are considered to have loads of charisma, and on screen presence.Just my observation not implying one is better than the other.Just fascinated that two actors with allegedly similar body stats can create different chemistry with the same actress when in the same screenshot.

Ok moving on to today's or is it yesterday's news?JG forever snatching showbiz korea polls top spots lately, even when he is on hiatus.I wonder what's in store for him next .So far we have him on showbiz korea as top No.1 most recognised Hallyu Star, top No.1 action star, now we have top No.1 with excellent singing skills(although I think it should have been top all-rounder performer but hey what gives).
Maybe it's better this way. So next poll can be top actor who with excellent dance skills, top actor with most stage presence at fan meet, best actor who is also superb at editorial modelling etc etc. Then even if he is just nominated not win, at least his individual talents aside from acting can continue being acknowledged one by one.But Here is the latest:

Hi Chingus, just chanced on a "never said goodbye clip"...so funny.JG really needs to visit Chungmuro and do a movie after Criminal Minds.Preferably just a straight up romance or even comedy. not the standard action or historical movies every young actor seem to be doing these days and definitely not melomovie.I can't afford to cry for two hours and be forever traumatised.We all know how JG can slaughter your heart when he is sad or crying right.
I don't want him to go back to Chungmuro like mid-40s then he gets roles like retelling the stories of Korean historical legends, or other fairly modern patriotic storylines, or becoming mafia boss or action leader of NCI you know stuff like that.Coz those are the ones that get box office hits in Korea and are the ones he would have a chance at being a lead role in his 40s.
Though I would still watch because he would nail any role.But go while you are young like now and maybe set another trend like you did with the King and the Clown.(ah how I wish he lurked around soompi at these times to read the thread but maybe not because sometimes we can get really pervert-like
. We wouldnt want to show that side of us to him hehe).
I know your reasons why you don't do alot of movies but please do one soon.Remember Chungmuro is the one that propel your career.You don't have to leave dramaland, just a movie at the beginning of the year of maybe 2018.Then go on as usual and choose a good drama script and continue blowing our minds and hearts with your amazingness.But first watch this

I love watching dramas on viki just because, it feels like you are in a cinema and watching with thousands of kdrama fans.Its such a good feeling because of you don't have real life family or friends who like Kdrama, viki gives you the opportunity to spaz about your bias.root for the couple if romance drama, or protagonist team if it's crime thriller.Get angry at the second lead or villain.provide live commentary on clothes, music, hair, makeup etc..all of this live.

Jason Gideon & Derek Morgan are the most empathetic characters in the CM Series. I hope LJG character would be a combo of these two characters.

Spoiler.His character('two weeks' guy) never wore a complete suit or did he?can't remember my memory is fuzzy, it's been a while.Gosh he even wore these really low v-neck shirts(making me think perverted thoughts whenever he appears)including the jean-like one in JG's pic with Son Hyun Joo sunbae.Complete with the forbidden misplaced underwear white vests or other coloured underwear vest that sometime messed up the outfit.So perhaps he will start from this "Detective Hyun Joon semi-casual shirt/outfit wearer"
and then graduate to "profiler Hyun Joon formal suit hunk wearer".By the way Joon Gi in suits with his present mature age:

This is not the type of drama that people will just switch off their brain and swoon because there are pretty cast.Sure there are brainless people like me lol
, who wilI swoon for JG no matter how good or terrible the production is, or what look he is going for and will try not to analyse every little detail, and spoil the fun of watching a thriller in summer.But there are alot more people who are just drama critics who will watch because the drama looks promising and has a stellar cast that can deliver based on their previous works not because they have a favourite actor or actress.Nothing wrong with any side.
I kind of feel for the crew and cast, I wonder if they are feeling any pressure to do really well.Anyone who messes up just a bit will be on the chopping board.music, stylists, actors, editors,writer, director, cameramen .Everyone better be on their toes.With this kind of cast ensemble and type of genre..everyone is expecting nothing less than A+ and it has the US version to live up to too.
That said, whether we are fans, drama critics or just neutral looking to fill up July schedule for Kdrama.Any remarks about the CM BTS pictures as it were is fine.At least it gets us talking about the drama when it's so far away and the info is limited.Also for us JG fans, we desperately need this escape after the hell we have been through last month and while our oppa is MIA.lately instagram, Facebook,YouTube has been so depressing.This is the only haven.

Also talking about swagger and stuff, remember if we are comparing JG to the guy who is playing Morgan Character in the US Version.There are limitations(um not really our JG is a 10/10
) but please hear me out before attacking.These men have different builds.One is not better than the other.They are both hot in their own way.
Unfortunately or fortunately(feel free to disagree) the western ideal of what a manly man looks like(muscular build, broody etc..feel the blank) + the swagger that comes with it, is widespread across the world.And our JG is androgynous(beautiful+handsome) and slim.His kind of swagger and sexiness doesn't just come out just because of his physical looks alone.Its because of the way he carries himself with confidence, it's something he has to activate from within and transmit it on the camera(and he does it so damn well
) whether that be in his photoshoots, dancing or acting.
So I think making direct comparisons with American Derek though I understand for those who watched it(can't be helped) is somehow unfair?which is why I am desperately hoping Hyun Joon oppa profiler is distinct character and people will like him and be attracted to him based on his own merits just like Wang So.Wangso and his Chinese counterpart only had the same source material for their story but were so different but I believe everyone loved them on their own merits.

People maybe just maybe we should remain patient.Remember uri JG is master of playing dual personalities.we can see from the pictures, everyone else is wearing a badge, most of the team assembled at the police station except him and Son Hyun Joo.Everyone is already giving off the vibes of their American counterparts except him.
As @Seoulmemories said and several others keep saying.lets remember for those who have watched the original series...it's adaptation people adaptation! Keep chanting this in your brain until you internalise it when the urge is there to compare.Though I wouldnt mind if it has alot of features of the original(didn't watch the American Version so doesn't make any difference to me).
Anyhow back to JG, I think the reason why Derek character is not full on yet although the glimpses are there,if that is what they are leaning to, is because, compared to the others, he is not yet part of the team yet from the start.Just speculation here but based on what he said at his FM.He was first a police detective, and then a profiler.So maybe, he is going to showcase his transition from detective to profiler.Thus, him and the CM team is working on showcasing these transitions from the smallest details including hair, makeup, clothes etc..I think his look will change as the series progresses.We all know how thorough he is about these things.
remember how we had WangSo for 16 episodes and GwangJong for 4 episodes.We could see glimpses of GwangJong like the rain scene in episode 8 or the way he killed those monks without batting an eye in ep3.But when he transformed to GwangJong in ep 17.WangSo completely disappeared and only showed on their last date night before he got married to the Princess.This change was not only in his acting but also his hair, clothes lol he even inherited the famous eyeliner from 3rd Prince.

Just dropped by to say I am rooting for our Kang Hana(Yeon Hwa) to win best new actress award(even though she is not really new.rolls eyes
) at the baeksang awards today.She is the only nominee from the scarlet heart squad.I think she too deserves recognition.She is the only one in the main female cast who hasn't received any award for her role in SHR. I think she played the perfect villain in this drama.Give our evil princess an award chusseyo.

.My respect for him has only gone deeper because he is soldiering on. Releasing videos and photos albeit namoo controlled, even though he has the option of staying completely MIA(given the situation), till official CM promos starts say mid June.
But on the other hand, if he quit SNS, it gives naysayers the power to lord over him.I mean he has to show the public, fans, the delusioned and the haters. That when they criticise his choices, he will take responsibility and apologise if they bring chaos. But he stands by his choices with no regrets.I mean based on the choices he has made so far.You cant please the public 100%.
Also this is a man who has milla jovovich, James Fraser, Ali Larter, and many more hollywood artists from resident evil, following him and him following them.Why should he cut off those friendships and potential business connection over dating news and silly variety show "controversy"?its a situation where he is damned if he changes his persona and join what i often call the "industry robots". He is damned if he goes back to his usual crazy out going self.I would rather he remains the way he has always been.
Bring your crazy self back to SNS joon gi-ya, let the ones who hate this side of you, take a chill pill and suck it. Or move along and ignore everything associated with your name. If they cant handle the fact that your career choices and personal life, are ultimately in your hands and no one else.

Agree.Son Hyun Joo could win it too since he is also main cast.Much more than just him winning an acting award.I wish that this version of criminal minds becomes critically acclaimed, and joins the likes of Signal to be acknowledged for the big 3 (best script, best directing and best acting at a more prestigious event like baeksang and the general public).Even if there may not receive acting awards on places like soompi, dramafever or end of year awards(tvn doesnt do those)etc.I mean he is already credited as part of the team in King and the Clown, that revived the public love of historical movies in korean cinema in the 21st Century.So I wish he and criminal mind team to be the ones to set a positive view on remakes and adaptations in Korea and maybe people will start to make crime thrillers more trending not just fluffy rom coms, melos and historical fantasy.He has already done three adaptations;
2012 Arang and the Magistrate(folklore of the Miryang area of Korea) his was the drama version.There was a movie based on the same folklore titled "Arang" in 2006
2015 Scholar who walks the Night (manhwa adaptation)
2016 Moon Lovers(everyone knows about this one)
So if there is a person who needs to set a new record for remakes, it has to be him.But for this to happen, ratings must be a hit.Buts thats just my wish.its a dream i know.with the time slot friday and saturday night(too late 11:00 and ahjummas would be in bed) Signal and Goblin were both 20:30. young folk probably hanging out at the club and stuff(weekend after all).the majority who will be watching this are the hyungs and ajusshis plus the "controversy" is still hanging over people's heads and some variety show or baseball game on the rival channels could take the attention away from the drama at that time .But I am keeping my fingers crossed, dont want to be a derbie dower.I trust my oppa.He is the kind to take risks, rise even when the odds are against him and turn things around in unexpected way.

Agree.Its not a bad thing that his eyes look that way like "tired" as they say. it will help in his future acting when he starts taking pure historicals. like not the usual fusion sageuks he has been doing so far, and melos(I know he hates them with a passion but if he changes his mind) if he ever stops shooting action
or when he starts taking Hotchner(criminal mind) type of roles in any genre .The roles in these genres need experienced actors, who have had enough life experience,in order to showcase emotional depth in their acting.
One of his senior that immediately comes to mind is Kim Kap-Soo, the guy who was the chief of NIS and his boss in "Time between dog and wolf".Another not so senior but senior enough is Kim Sung-Oh, he was secretary of Hyun Bin in secret garden.The reason why i chose these two is because they also have unique eyes that draw you in like JGs and have "tired" eyes quality to them .I mean they are not mono lid(or are they?) like JG and have different eye colour than JGs (hazel-grey but they are fully korean while JGs are regular brown colour) sometimes I cant tell because I am a different race so i can tell the mono lid but I cant tell if someone is double lid or how double lid look like.They can act villain roles and protagonist roles seamlessly with alot of depth like they are breathing and living the character because of this.

I know right.is it too much for people to trust the professionals to do their jobs properly and sell whatever character they are given effectively.I mean we are going to be watching veterans in this new drama, not newbies or commercial/popularity actors.This lineup is full of actors and actresses who are fully committed to their craft not just acting for the sake of.
One of the reason why Wang So was such a memorable character, is because JG made a conscious effort not to copy the acting style of his Chinese counterpart in the Chinese Version of Scarlet Heart.He even discuss with writer nim and director nim to make sure his character had its own identity.He said so himself in the interview.
Lets not even get started with the hair whining.I remember when the my ear candy street shots, were going around upon instagram, he looked just like he is looking now before it aired.But as soon as it was broadcast on TV, it turned out so beautifully and he looked his usual beautiful and handsome self.
Some international fans are even whining about his weight, saying if he is taking on Derek, Derek is buff and blah blah how is he going to sell the character.I say let's be patient and wait for the stills and promos, so we can understand better about the roles and appearance, but more importantly for once let's just trust and support him as fans and spread positive vibes for the drama
.He has enough critics and antis now to stress him out.Fans should not add more worries and stress to him.
