Actually Love feat Marriage and Divorce tops everything. I can't believe one episode contained 40 minutes of one couple arguing as they sat at the dinner table, with 0 movement.

Seems like not enough people watched Love

Yes, I noticed not many people like this drama and there was an intense argument in this drama chat forum. The event person in charge had to step in and stop their "argument" that involved few parties discussion. This was my first time seeing this and I found it interesting to view many different opinions on this marriage and affair topics. There is no right or wrong from the parties. Everyone has the right to express their opinion.

To be frank, about the couple that spent most of the time in arguing at the living/dining area, I was impressed on that scene with their serious argument, (except their zero movement 😄). Their conversations are valid, realistic, and relevant to most couples when having affair issue. Sad to say that, I had seen many cases proliferate in this way.

I couldn't say the overall story for this drama was prefect, it has many flaws too and it was a black comedy, but there was gist meaning to take away after the show. I hope audience do not just look at one single spectrum only, but try to view it both ends of the spectrum. Most importantly, women can choose the life they want to be after a failed marriage. Life is too short :)

I somehow agree with you about "Stairway to Heaven" - the drama had its usual flaws like slow at times but, steady for a purpose.  How I love the OST! And I loved Kwon Sang Woo's acting here, biased aside.

"It's Okay To Not Be Okay" was not only a good drama but, an excellent one for me.

Me too, I love the OST too except the storyline that I couldn't stand it.

In old days, there were often the plots with a hidden secret or misunderstanding between the leads and took so long to discover and reveal it because the evil person was behind it, and the cry baby Kwon Sang Woo was often the victim in the story, plotline was draggy and repetitive. It did not give me a positive and sensible feel except frustration only. Sorry this is not my cup of tea, same for "Happened in Bali".

For "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" - it has inspiring and encouraging feeling at the end of the EP, with the autistic brother slowly developed him into an independent person at the end, it was wonderful and meaningful script. I would praise the whole cast and the writer for that. Kim Soo-hyun  is always smart in choosing the drama.

@Sleepy Owl - I would praise you for watching 3 times for  "The Guest" you are brave...🫡🫣. I don't think I will rewatch it.

"Strangers from Hell" - although it had an eerie feel, if there is season 2, I wouldn't mind continue watching it. 😄

@partyon @Sleepy Owl- there are three ongoing thriller and suspense drama, I will recommend you to watch :

The 8 Show - thriller storyline but very violence drama, only 8 EP. (Similar to Squid Game) you can watch it as the meaning of the message is the key.

Uncle Samsik - Just reading the synopsis, one might think that this is a drama about the growth and struggle of passionate young people, but in fact it is not that simple. The feeling of watching these early 7 episodes of "Uncle Against Poverty" is a comparison of stories of "human nature manipulation", trust and suspicion, with politics as the background.  The main character, Uncle Samshi, is a strategist who is both good and evil. He can handle the interests of business and politics with ease and manipulate human nature and power. In the early stage, It's not a fast-paced drama, but it has a lot of characters, so DisneyPlus is really smart to release five episodes at once and later another two more for the following week. The relationship between the characters is also very clear. After the third episode, you won't feel the passage of time as the mission progresses smoothly. In addition, it’s so cool to watch these actors and actresses acting. Song Kang-ho, who is a veteran of the movie industry, Byun Yo-han, who has been in the movie industry in recent years. The people are all evolved to the core, and they are all very sparky. Overall, it is not bloody or exaggerated. It is profound and I really like this kind of thick and dark study of human nature. I hope you can follow this drama too.

Connection - full of Thriller and suspense, I watched only first 2 EP, fast pace storyline.

  3. @Sleepy OwlThanks for the tag 🫡

I don't think I need to explain much as most of the viewers already expressed their opinions here.

Below are the stories and plot lines with loose end and do not have a proper ending in my opinion :

    • Rugal
    • Heartbeat - drop half way, wasting time
    • Vagabond - hanging there with no proper ending
    • A Stairway to Heaven - It really frustrates me when the evil lady is always in control and the good guy (the male lead) is always the victim. I will not spend time to rewatch this old drama. Slow pace and illogical plot.

    • Strangers from Hell - always had an eerie feel while watching
    • The Guest - got nightmare after finishing watching it

Below are some of the good kdrama (not in ranking order) that I will always remember after watching them:

    1. My Mister
    2. It's Okay to Not Be Okay
    3. Remember: War of the Son
    4. Reborn Rich
    5. Move to Heaven
    6. Death's Game
    7. Beyond evil (you missed out this good drama in the list)
    8. Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce)
    9. Squid Game (although violence)

    • Love 1
    • Blob 2
  4. I finished this whole drama.

For romantic aspect, i love this couple a lot and hope that they get together in real life. That move is because the writer has successfully created such beautiful image in drama that almost every fans of theirs hoping them to be dating one day in real life...

But let's get back to the drama talk about the relationship of this married couple, to be frank, I don't feel comfortable when the writer created the role for the "Queen" of female lead...being so pampered by her husband (male protagonist) until the end, the happy ending, regardless of her past or present she was "spoiled" by her husband in both words and deeds. Yes, she later realized her mistakes and actions, but did the writer emphasize enough that the root cause of their "almost divorce" problem was due to their lack of communication and the inferior of one party who certainly needs care and concern too. The writer had put too much emphasis on the couple reflash loving story but pay less attention on how they recognise their problem and differences so as to work together to improve their marriage life thereafter.

There are couples in real life where the husband is often play the role as the giver while the wife is the receiver, or vice versa. However, this is not healthy in the long run. A person who always cares about others, people with this personality tend to neglect their own needs and wants because most of the time they are so focused on others that they forget their own needs and wants. An imbalance in this relationship is not healthy at all in the long run. One party will become emotionally exhausted and worn out one day because his/her needs and wants not being addressed. This may give a wrong message to the young couple or about going to get married couple. I am quite disappointed that the writer did not emphasize on this point.

The writer started with a good intention to create the differences between the two leads in the drama : One strong, one weak, made the male lead as a warm person (almost perfect) in his character in drama, while the other one shown emotionless, and very forthright  in her words to others because of the way she brought up and her family background. We know that the husband has soft spot and he did cry a lot in the story. That shown that he needed care and attention too.  However, the writer did not address the issue much, I would prefer the couple could have longer conversation to acknowledge the differences, recognise it and work through it together.

I can forgive the writer because he choose this charming couple and the rest of the cast who had super performance in this drama , but for overall drama story, I will not give high mark. To me, the story is still lack of substance although i know this is purely a romantic comedy drama and I can't expect too much.

So does high rating represent😄 a good drama? A highly recommended good drama may not achieve high rating 😄

  5. I will not go into the details of each character.

But the charm of this drama is that it tells an ordinary story into something extraordinary. It's not a fast-paced thriller, it's more like telling a story slowly in your ears, so that you are attracted in without realizing it. The story did not tell you who is the bad guy at a glance, but only let you follow the protagonist and uncover the mystery bit by bit until the middle ep (Ep 6 or 7?). This process of slow revelation is sometimes more fascinating than telling you the answer directly. But the downside is that the story drags on, lacks creativity, and ends up no surprises once you know who the bad guys are, and you know that they will finally get the punishment in the end.

Husband and wife are originally "birds of the same forest, but when disaster strikes, they fly separately? " Sometimes, this sentence is not unfounded.

When bad things happen, instead of sharing the hardships together, they choose to leave. This is how many couples live.  An even worse example would be someone who has been sleeping with their spouse for many years to frame the other party because of money matter. Of course this story tells that the wife choose justice.

Do they really understand each other after so many years of marriage? I doubt so...

For the love of money is the root of all evil. I think that goes the same to power and fame, her father in law is a good example.

  6. I just finished "Hide" last EP.....too dragging on last EP and I almost fell asleep.

Very disappointed with this EP, I'd say it's more about redemption at the end for the female lead and her father.

Chief Detective 1958 also very boring, I think I will drop it... :(

  7. I found it amazing on EP 14, she was alive and had a long hair after the surgery? isn't this a serious Brain tumor? No need to shave? Oh I forgot this is fairytale romantic comedy drama, 😁 Anything unrealistic including some flaws found in drama are acceptable.🤣😄

There were two sad scenes in EP 14 : the main lead couple were crying and arguing whether to do surgery outside the church, and the scene where KSY thought that the FL had a car accident........

People sometimes appreciate some actors and their acting only because of their portrayal of strong or complex characters. But the true mastery in acting skill often lies in the ability to evoke profound emotions even from ordinary or simple characters. And for KSY in this drama, didn't have a strong & complex character but it is the simplicity, depth, and authenticity of how he acts which are commendable. Even I would say the same about the heroine. She is beautiful and she chose the right role for herself in this show.

  8. @partyon Besides Hide, there are two more thriller and suspense storyline drama that you should not miss, "Nothing Uncovered" and "Blood free", Han Hyo Joo is CEO who tries to create superior food chain alongside bodyguard, Ju Ji-hoon - sci-fi  thriller - I hope you watch them too :)

  9. @partyon and @Tango27

I hope this drama not going to turn into a romance drama as the story went so far is more in a thriller and suspense mode...i am still enjoying peeling the onion for this drama....😁😁

LBY had kiss sense before but not hot.

Married woman like Kim so Yeon also got lots of kissing scenes, especially in Penthouse I and II, so I guess it could be from the directors or writer decision.

I have just watched EP8 but i don't want to spoil it, as I saw the preview for EP9, it will be a surprise in EP9 for FL.

Park Shin Hye had no problems smooching Park Hyung Sik in her latest drama despite being recently married and having a kid. Then again, who wouldn't want to kiss Park Hyung Sik oppa. :D

Park Hyung Sik - i only like his two drama, "Happiness" his look and body size bigger after his military which look healthier , another one "Soundtrack 1 ".

I wanted to watch his "Suits" drama, but no time, so I gave up.

Currently, he looks too skinny, not so manly anymore...lol.

    ----------------------------------

Talking about romance story that can spark me. I like something that can inspire or related to our life :

I am currently watching one Taiwan Drama called "Imperfect us" (aka We are not kind enough)

    Synosis :

The story begins with an outfit clash. Two women who were born on the same month and the same day, not only fell in love with the same man but also often bought the same clothes. They were rivals in love when they were young, and for 10 years, they have been using clues on Facebook to fantasize about each other's better life and feel jealous. Unexpectedly, they meet again....one already got married with a kid, while another one still single with better career job. When people look back, most of them love to compare things with others when you don't own it. What you don't get is always the most charming and enviable.

I hope you can watch it one day in Viki.

  10. Lee Bo Young deserves a better looking guy, this guy looks too young for her, like a young brother 😁🤣 maybe he doesn't have that kind of chemistry look for her.

Just like the wonderful world for Kim Nam Joo and Cha Eun Woo, this pair more like a mother and son only, their  chemistry can't spark any romance, and luckily they were not a couple in this drama.

PS : Wonderful world is a good drama. FYI

  11. Yes the husband is too much, he got an affair and yet blame the wife for exposing him. Of course I am sure the ending will get them in justice, but for their romance, if the director and writer plan to have one for Korean version, I rather let her get a better looking guy for Lee Bo Young, rather than the current one....😁kekeke

  12. @partyon Thanks for the spoiler, sorry too curious to know her ending...😄

The World of the Married - the female lead did go out with her colleague who work in the same hospital in the end..... (the colleague actor is now the Male lead in the drama HIDE, hahaha)

Perhaps I am too focus on finding the truth of this drama and thus did not focus so much on their noona romance, if there is any in future. Currently I view them as "working partner" to find out where about the husband. But EP7 we have already known  the half truth, except the neighbour's female story...Let's see EP8

@lebeaucouple chingu, did you already watch ep 7. Thoughts?

Are you also a Do Jin Woo - Moon Young shipper?

    Haha. Thanks for the tagging.

No way to ship both of them, their chemistry is too far away. I don't even think they have romance on this drama. Lee Bo Young pity him only. This is not love but I would be surprised if anyone highlighted in this forum...I would be fainted, sorry. 🙃🫣

The drama has a truth-seeking, onion-peeling-every-episode vibe. The female lead is very brave and intelligent. Every episode gave me the urge to wonder why he was hiding and given up his identity all of a sudden, and the suspicious female neighbor finally revealed her true face. She was having an affair with the heroine’s husband.. 🤔Shocking at the end of the EP 7.....

I did not watch the original version of the drama series, it is based on 2017-2020 BBC Popular TV series "Keeping Faith." They were very popular and released in different seasons. Have you watched the original version?

  14. Yes dear, I am watching the "Hide" drama. I love it. It has all the elements that I like...hook me on...🫡

    • Nothing uncovered
    • Wonderful world - ending soon
    • Queen of Tears
    • Blood Free
    • The Escape of Seven S2 - crazy show but still watching since I watched the 1st season. 😄. (can drop it if you do not want to waste time)

Waiting the below drama to release soon :

  15. @partyon - I guess you know my tastes by now, as I prefer suspense, mysteries, and thriller dramas, so romantic comedies are rarely on my top list unless it's highly rated and recommended to watch in the platform.

I do not watch many of the above listed although I read many commented some of which are highly recommended to watch, eg. "Secret affair"....

I watched these two whole drama :

    1) Hyena - noona romance spent far less time in drama, except their kissing and sex. (although I love this couple).  Courtrooms are more suffocating than the real world, where people cheat, flatter, hide, and start destructive relationships—and that's just lawyers. I don't feel noona romance on this drama.

    2) When the Camellia Blooms (Gong Hyo Jin & Kang Ha Neul) (2019) - their romance elements was not fully utilised so I don't feel much on the noona romance but this drama was so amazing and meaningful.

Strangely, I did not watch fully the below two mentioned drama, I only watched one teaser or one EP on YouTube, but I will choose them because this two couples gave you a strong sense and romantic feeling of what noona romance is here to stay:

    • For TOP noona romance romance, I would chose Something In The Rain (Son Ye Jin & Jung Hae In) (2018) and they were full with chemistry and intimacy that you would almost think Jung Hae In had a crush on Son Ye Jin during the show or after the drama.

    • For 2nd noona romance drama, I would chose WWW (Lee Da Hee & Lee Jae Wook) (2019), their chemistry were funny and comical.

@lebeaucouple I see you voted, but no comment from you, chingu? :scream: Please let us know which was your favorite OTP that should have ended up together.

I just came back from Taiwan. I was lucky enough to escape the Taiwan earthquake.Thank God...🙏

I did not watch most of the above listed drama except the two :

K2 - Kim Je Ha (Ji Chang Wook) and Choi Yoo Jin (Song Yoon Ah)

Start Up - Seo Dal Mi (Suzy) and Han Ji Pyung (Kim Seon Ho) - the most impressive drama that stir up the commotion. Lol 😄

I remembered there was a huge commotion in the drama comment group for this "start up", there were two groups arguing in the discussion group : 1st FL with 1st ML vs 1st FL with 2nd ML.

I like 2nd ML Kim Seon Ho (The boy with dimples looks gorgeous in this drama) and he became famous overnight (after this drama).

I prefer him in this "Startup" to "Home Cha Cha Cha" :)

PS : I need to catch up other on-going drama as I just returned lately :

    1. Queens of Tears

    2. Wonderful world

    3. Hide

    4. Impossible Heir

    5. Nothing Uncovered

I mean, we all shipped her with the ML, but then again, that lady had been doing evil stuff for most of the drama

If I remember correctly, Song Yoon-ah seldom act in an evil role in most of the drama. Just to name a few, : She is best known for starring in the film Jail Breakers, as well as the television dramas Hotelier, On Air, Mama, The K2, Secret Mother, Graceful friends, Show Window: The Queen's House, etc.

I watched most of her drama, she is a talented actress, good piano player and once a university professor. For K2, in my opinion, I wouldn't classify her as top evil actor because her character role in K2 was a Madam President, a leader that need to protect a country, it's hard to see any politician being righteous in the Kdrama, her role can be a gray character with a thin line between good and evil, whereas the evil characters in other dramas have distinct personalities and are easily identified as evil because of their selfish thoughts and actions.

Where in the past it was easy to see distinct characters, nowaday many characters fall somewhere between angelic and evil until we learn their backstories, which makes the storylines feel more humanity and realistic.

  18. Among all of the above listed, I would vote for Song Ha Yoon (Married My Husband), that horrible person with big eyes and seductively vain appearance, you will hate her in the drama but at the same time you will praise her "extremely insane" performance because of that character role.

Fortunately, I don't have such similar "close" friends in my life, otherwise I would write off such friend or let myself disappear in her life, haha, it's too toxic. 😄😄

LTNS has an interesting concept - I think I will try out a few episodes once it airs, though I'm not a fan of Esom

Dear chingu, I am not a fan of Esom too :D. To be frank, you may be disappointed that there is no handsome or beautiful actors in this drama.:D

This kdrama was introduced through the platform review. The critique was good. It was the storyline that appealed to me the most, especially the fun and interesting process of stalking the unfaithful couples in order to blackmail them.

Since it is a black comedy drama, it makes the negotiation part for blackmailing even more hilarious but surprising.

By the way, be prepared to watch the sex scenes and lots of kissing scenes with an open mind as it relates to the theme.  Go watch it when you have time. Currently the airing is now at 4 EP. :)

  20. For 2024, I am currently watching the following and my opinions are :

My Happy Ending - nothing fantastic

Marry My Husband - nothing fantastic

Captivating the King - nothing fantastic at the early stage
Doctor Slump - EP 1 is boring at the moment, not sure how the story goes...

A Shop for Killers - storyline is quite unique, fast pace and unpredictable...so far I enjoyed it, but not sure how the ending goes?

The Bequeathed (2024) - I binge watched this drama, and I love it - What A thrilling, mysterious and suspenseful journey all the way for this drama....

Now I would like to recommend something unusual and interesting Kdrama to watch - called LONG TIME NO SEX (LTNS) - The six-episode Kdrama dark comedy series, story is about a married couple whose sex life has become inactive due to their life's weariness, they blackmail unfaithful couples (appeared on each episode) to earn extra money. The wife, Woo-Jin (played by Esom) and Husband, Samuel (played by Ahn Jae-Hong). Each episode carries a different meaning of the story and how I like about the script writer who can manage well on the ending part of each episode. The ending for each episode appears to be open-ended, but it could implicit at bittersweetness and leave room for viewers to judge the unfaithful couple. Of course, from each EP's lesson learnt, it will probably spike the romance once again for the lead couple :)

Sorry, chingus :tears: I researched various different sites to gain an understanding of which c-dramas were the most popular (as I don't watch them myself). To my understanding there were 578 c-dramas listed for 2023 in Mydramalist. That's a lot! (For reference, there were only 131 kdramas last year.) Unfortunately we could only include 19 in the poll....

    Death's Game was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Worries, chingu.. C-drama have too many fantasy love romance with CGI input most of the time that I did not like much as it was too unrealistic for me to watch. Thus the list that you put up in poll are not in my watched list. It is not my genre. I prefer thriller, suspense, crime, mysterious, supernatural, sci-fiction and politics background, strategic war, unexpected twist storyline, and with realistic romance are acceptable. C drama are mostly in long EP and I can follow through and complete all the EP, it means the drama must be very well-made including their acting performance are superb . hahaha, I guess our chingu @Wuzetian know my taste well :D

For K-drama love romance - i gave up a lot mainly because the plot behind is too lame. If it weren’t for the looks of the male and female protagonists, some drama would be unbearable, just to name a few - e.g. My demon, backstreet rookie, king the land...i dropped half way or fast forward. The storyline were too weak.

For Death game - it was fantastic , worth watching. Not just for the meaningful storyline alone, also for the sake of 12 different stories that made up interesting  plots and combined with all the handsome leads that played in different characters in each story...WOW. I like the villain role played by Kim Ji-hoon, who is one of the best actors in this drama, very stylo hairstyle with his arrogant look. I found it very entertaining in EP 5, the confrontation fighting between Kim ji hoon and Kim Jae-wook, very comical, although it had many bloody scenes.

For Gyeongseong Creature - I love the storyline setting during the Japanese occupation of korea in 1945. The male and female leads' love story is a romance reserved for those days and it causes you to have such tingling sensation when watching such drama, not only for the reserved romance, but also for the cruel bloody killings on human experiments of Unit 731 project carried out by the Japanese soldiers :rage:. Of course, the open ending in Season 1 heightens anticipation for the evolution of this enthralling tale. I am going to sit tight to wait for Season 2 that the story will happen in the modern days :)

For 2024 kdrama, I hope to see more good drama with

    1. Shorter EP without having S1, S2, S3

    2. Less revenge storyline (as it will lead to psychological imbalance and create more bloody scenes only)

    3. More meaningful or inspirational storyline
