Kim Bum started off on his career just the way any other actor would. He first appeared in sitcoms and dramas for younger age groups, slowly gathering attention for his looks and aura.

Everything that followed, however, made him completely different.

Because he was eager to become a good actor, he chose to go a road different from the ones usually taken by actors of his age. Though he boasted a great presence in trendy dramas, he started taking supporting roles in high-quality, tightknit pieces.

His experiment turned out to be a success.

After staying with screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung for Padam Padam and That Winter, the Wind Blows, he managed to step closer to his dream of becoming a true actor and more than a mere star.



"I think I became too stubborn after Boys Over Flowers. I was young, and I wanted to change my image. I still love the So Yi Jung role, and I think I was lucky to have met him, but he was like a double-edged sword. I rushed into my next piece. It wasn′t that successful, and after getting through more such pieces, I took a year off and then came across Padam Padam. It ran on a general service channel, and viewership ratings-wise it was pretty depressing. To me, however, it was the happiest piece ever. Thanks to it I got to appear in That Winter, and that brought me more viewership ratings."

He became one of Noh Hee Kyung′s favorites by appearing in two of her pieces in a row, and she in return showed her trust in the actor, sending personal love calls to Kim Bum for That Winter.

"I was so thankful. I was able to mature through Padam Padam, and my values changed. I was able to repay [Noh Hee Kyung] for all she had done for me through That Winter, and I made the decision to appear in it even before the script was out.

There′s a line in Padam Padam that says, ′A miracle doesn′t have to make a dead person live again while the earth shakes and the sky cracks; what helped us meet here like this and talk with each other was also a miracle.′ I keep learning what that meant as I continue to work with writer Noh [Hee Kyung]. I′ve learned that people and the times we are together are more precious than ratings."



Kim Bum said his biggest gain from That Winter was "its people." He tightened his ties with Noh Hee Kyung and director Kim Gyu Tae, and got to know Zo In Sung, Song Hye Kyo, Kim Tae Woo and A Pink′s Jung Eun Ji.

"I′m so happy because I′ve gotten to know so many people. [Zo] In Sung hyung (big brother) is at the center of it all. Even now when I think about it, I can′t believe it, and I feel like laughing out loud. I have a lot to learn from him and he′s a great big brother. Someday I want to be a senior like him. I′ve often heard that I look like him since I was little, and my mother likes him too. (Laugh) I liked him from even before we entered this piece together with good roles, and I think that′s what helped me get along with him.

I was actually worried about [Jung] Eun Ji because she′s much younger and she′s an idol, but I learned she′s very enthusiastic toward acting and that she′s smart. She played her role perfectly."

Kim Bum took on the role of Jin Sung, a loyal man who frequently gets involved in fights and gambling. In the role, he was told his acting had also matured, and that the role fit him well.

The actor who seemed he would be a boy forever had become a man through That Winter.

"I keep thinking of the disappointments in my acting when I think back on it. I think I looked okay merely because the seniors, the script and directing were great. I couldn′t really concentrate in the beginning of the drama, so I kept apologizing to the writer and director. Whenever I did that, [writer Noh] showed me her trust.

Jin Sung and I are actually pretty similar. We can′t lie, and we′re really straightforward and have short tempers. Jin Sung′s existence was meant for the 16th episode, but I′m sad it didn′t turn out the way I wanted it to. I had to stab Oh Soo (Zo In Sung) with a knife and I was in tears since that morning, but on set the emotions wouldn′t come so easily."

Even though the piece was over he kept talking about what he could have done better. It seemed his passion toward acting had grown with That Winter.

He said he hoped his next piece would follow soon.

"I′ve been in a lot of roles that are out-of-the-ordinary. I′ve been an angel and a psychometrist. I′m attracted to roles that look challenging. I was able to satisfy my thirst for such roles thanks to the many great pieces I′ve been in. Still, I know a lot of fans like how I looked in Boys Over Flowers. I know what the public wants from me, so I think I′ll take that into consideration in my next piece. I want to be an actor that isn′t limited to a certain genre. I read almost all of the scenarios and scripts that don′t come my way, too. I hope I find a good piece soon."

Did anyone see this entertainment programme on cable M?  They did a composite of how JIS and SHK's child would look like.  They described it as a royal baby as the baby's parents have good genes.

Their baby would cry all the time (like their parents in "That Winter") and also the little one would be very pampered from being piggybacked by Papa Jo.  They even did a photo shop of the baby being carried on JIS's back.  LOL.

MC: Vâng, San Woollim, Với tôi tình yêu quá cay đắng. Tất nhiên đây là bài hát đã được biết đến rất nhiều nhưng mà nếu xét về độ tuổi của Jo In Sung thì có vẻ như anh thích nghe nhạc hơi cổ điển, đúng không?
JIS: Vâng, em thích nhạc cổ điển. Em rất thích những bản nhạc trữ tình của nước mình. Hình như nó hợp với sở thích của em. Đôi khi nghe còn thấy run lên nữa. Còn có version của Jang Phil Soon nữa  nhưng giờ em chỉ chuẩn bị được version của San Woollim thôi. Đây cũng là bản nhạc em thường nghe lúc uống rượu.
MC: Ừm, đúng rồi. Về mặt cá nhân, tôi cũng biết chuyện này, mỗi lần uống rượu JIS thường mở nhạc trong điện thoại để nghe, và còn thích DJ nữa, để cho mọi người cùng thưởng thức bản nhạc mình thích.
JIS: Vâng. Thường thì chúng ta đi tâng 1 là uống rượu, còn tâng 2 chơi trò bài hát yêu cầu đó anh.
MC: À, đúng rồi.
JIS: Chúng tôi gửi bài hát mình yêu cầu, anh Kim C, các bạn và cả tôi nữa...đều yêu cầu, rồi bài nào được hát cuối cùng sẽ phải trả tiền. Chúng tôi sẽ trả tiền rượu theo thành quả (tình trạng) của DJ ngày hôm đó.
MC: Ừm. Không biết có phải vì tựa bài hát này không mà tôi muốn hỏi, thực tế thì thế nào? Trên thực tế tình yêu với anh có cay đắng như vậy không? (Em là em khoái cái cách lèo lái câu chuyện của anh MC này lắm nè)
JIS: Đắng chứ ạ. Vừa đắng  mà vừa ngọt nữa. Ở một khoảnh khắc nào đó em lại thấy nó rất đắng.
MC: Có điều thế này này. Nhiều thính giả rất quan tâm đến cái gọi là scandal về tình yêu của JIS. Cũng không đến nỗi gọi là scandal nhưng mà không có bài báo nào về chuyện này nên họ tự hỏi: “Con người này không hẹn hò gì sao?”, “Cậu ta không muốn yêu đương sao?”. Anh có suy nghĩ rõ ràng nào về tình yêu không?
JIS: Khó thật đấy. Cái gọi là tình yêu hình như luôn luôn có gắn dấu chấm hỏi đằng sau thì phải. Tình yêu? Tình yêu? Hình như đó là một điều gì rất khó khăn nhưng lại là thứ không thể thiếu được.
MC: JIS hoàn toàn không còn là đứa bé nữa (em thích cái dzụ kích động này nữa nè, hè hè) nên tất nhiên đã qua kinh nghiệm tình yêu, đã gặp gỡ ai đó rồi. Anh có tiêu chuẩn dạng như “À, nếu gặp được người như thế này thì mình sẽ hạnh phúc” hay không?
JIS: Trước đây thì không có nhưng dần dần hình như các tiêu chuẩn đã bắt đầu xuất hiện (Trúng phóc rồi còn gì). Mà em nghĩ khái niệm “trưởng thành/ chín chắn” hình như là cái gì đó rất khó với nam giới . Mẹ em thỉnh thoảng nói thế này. Nhà em có cả em trai nữa. Theo lời mẹ em là:  “Mẹ đã nuôi 3 đứa con”.
MC: Là bao gồm luôn bố anh?
JIS: Vâng. Mẹ em nói vậy đó. Thấy mẹ em nói vậy mặc dù bố em đã được hơn 51 (hay 52 gì đó) tuổi rồi nên em tự hỏi có phải đàn ông sẽ không có điểm gọi là trưởng thành cho đến cuối đời hay không?. Có lúc em nghĩ vậy đó anh.
MC: Cũng có thể như vậy  lắm chứ.
JIS: Em nghe anh Kim C nói “chín chắn” hay cũng có nghĩa là “đến mùa” rồi. Nhưng em vẫn cứ phân vân liệu mình có nhớ được hương sắc của mùa đó không, rồi biết đến khi nào mình mới biết đến sự chín chắn đây?. Em hay nghĩ vậy. Nên em mong sẽ có một người phụ nữ sẽ bảo hộ cho em, không bao giờ bỏ cuộc, sẽ chịu trách nhiệm với một kẻ trẻ con như em đến cuối cùng.
MC: Cái gì đây hả? Giống như anh đang chờ đợi một người mẹ vậy? (chết cười)
Ngoài cô Ok Sun thì cũng có rất nhiều thính giả hỏi “Anh JIS với anh Kim C thân với nhau thế nào? Em rất tò mò”.  Thực ra chúng tôi hoạt động ở những lĩnh vực không giống nhau lắm nên khó mà kết nối với nhau được. Nhưng thính giả này hỏi chúng ta đã thân nhau như thế nào?
JIS: Tôi là fan của đạo diễn Hong Sang Soo (không biết có đúng không). Tình cờ hai anh em gặp nhau lần đầu ở lễ công chiếu bộ phim của đạo diễn Hong. Tôi đến và chào trước. Lúc đó tôi giới thiệu mình là người hâm mộ của đạo diễn Hong. Anh Kim C cũng có ở đó. Lúc đó cho nhau số liên lạc, em cũng không nghĩ gì thêm nhưng lại nhận được điện thoại.
MC: Đúng rồi, lúc đó tôi gọi trước.
JIS: Chúng tôi đã cùng uống rượu chung với mấy người bạn thân nữa, nhưng vẫn còn ngượng ngập.  Nhưng  dường như cảm giác lúc đó là nói chuyện hợp với nhau.  Cũng không làm gì nhiều, chỉ uống vài ly soju rồi chia tay nhau.
JIS: Đúng rồi, vậy rồi chia tay nhau thôi.
MC: Nhân duyên của chúng tôi bắt đầu như vậy đó thưa quý thính giả. Vì có nhiều vị quan tâm quá nên....Nào nghe đài thì dù có ai xuất hiện cũng không thể hiếu nội dung này. Mời quý vị nghe mục quảng cáo.

A movie magazine editor posted on her weibo 2 hours back that “CJ Entertainment will collaborate with China Film Group Corporation for the film 'Kwon Bob'. And the male lead is In Sung oppa”
We still need further confirmation for this. But it seems legit for now. It's during the Beijing International Movie Festival. It's a signing ceremony in the photo. 
Seems what we've been waiting for is happening. I'm not sure if there's going to be a change in the casting of the female lead.So CJ settled it's funding problem this way..hmmm...
