On 7 December 2004, KyeSang reported to the Korea National Service Unit and started to served the country for 2 years. Expected to finish his service in early 2007.

Though we missed KyeSang so much, it was good that he joined the army performance group, so that we can still get in touch with him.

Yoon Kye-sang used to be a famous singer, but now he is a successful actor. The Junior Herald met the multitalented star, who has made waves with his acting performances in soap operas and film.

The Junior Herald (JH): Your first movie, titled “Flying Boys,” has just been released. How do you feel about that?

Yoon Kye-sang (Yoon): I’ve never felt this way before. It is definitely a totally different feeling. It’s almost like I am waiting for my blind date to arrive (laughs). But I know that I will feel good when I see my face on the big screen -- though I will be quite nervous as well.

JH: Could you tell our readers what your movie is about?

Yoon: Well, three boys just graduated from high school, but they really don’t have any plans. One day, they enroll in a ballet class. Somehow, being part of the class helps them mature into young adults.

JH: Were there any funny moments when you shot the movie?

Yoon: I had to shoot a kissing scene with Kim Min-jung. I’ve never shot that kind of a scene before, so I had no clue on how to prepare. But I figured out one thing I could do. Since I’m a smoker, I thought that maybe Min-jung would think that I stink. So before the scene, I didn’t smoke at all and ate as many mints and mandarins as I could (laughs).

JH: You used to be one of the most popular singers in Korea. Why did you choose to risk everything to become an actor?

Yoon: I don’t want to disappoint all my fans out there, who remember me singing in the group g.o.d. But to be honest, I was always interested in acting.

JH: So do you no longer want to be labeled as a singer?

Yoon: Hmm... I don’t know about that. But for now, I just want to be the best actor I can be.

JH: Any plans for the immediate future?

Yoon: By the time this interview is published, I will have joined the army. But after finishing my duty, I will surely be trying my hand at acting again. Till then, see ya.

Recently I saw this clip of Rain (Bi) and Kim Sun Ah being pranked.

As I thought before, Kyesang and Rain must be really good friends!

I'll post some pics of them together after.

ANYWAYS as I was saying...

When they pranked KSA, she thought Rain liked her.

At one point someone said to her, "Did u meet him (Bi) alot?"

And she replied, "No, I only met him once because of Kyesangie".

And KSA and Kyesang are friends too.

mmm... you should definitely see "My Sister in Law is 19". i don't know if this came before or after his leading role in the movie "Flying Boys", but this was his first series and he did such a superb job. this is how i came to loveee kyesang! he was exceptional and adorable in this series. he wasn't like other singers-turned-actors/vice versa. he actually has TALENT!

"My Sister-In-Law is 19" was KS's first TV drama, before this while he was a member of god, he did some short series - "New Non-Stop III" (MBC) and "Babysitting Dairy" (육아일기 - MBC), of coure he did another short series for SBS - Banjun Drama (2004).

Now back to "She is 19", his acting in "19" gained good comments, he was offered to take up a role in the movie "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (친절한 금자씨) played by Miss LEE Young-ae, unfortunately the timing wasn't appropriate. KS had planned to fulfilled his nation duty, that was to serve his country in early Dec 2004.

It was a pity for him to turn down the offer, however, there was another movie - Flying Boys (Ballet Dancing School) waiting for him and the timing was just nice, so he shooted this movie.

KS's choice was right coz the movie 'Flying Boys' made him gain the Best New Male Comer Award (신인 남자 연기상) at the 41st Baek Sang Arts Awards (제41회 백상예술대상) held at PuShan on 20 May 2005.

Here were some pics of KS at the 41st Baek Sang Arts Awards. The army force even allowed KS to attend the awards, so KS wore the military uniform to show to respect to the army force.
