Character descriptions

Lee Kun (Kim Jae Joong) was once a promising tennis player but lost his self-esteem and confidence after an injury. However, all his past memories get erased with a memory eraser, and he is born again with maximized self-esteem, confidence, and presence.

 

Kyung Joo Yeon (Jin Se Yeon) is a neuropsychiatrist at a neurological research center. She is described as a perfectionist whose cold personality earns her the nickname “ice princess,” but she is actually awkward at expressing her feelings due to a painful incident in her past. Kyung Joo Yeon becomes Lee Kun’s fake first love through memory manipulation.

 

Lee Shin (Lee Jong Won) is Lee Kun’s younger brother and the world’s No. 1 tennis player.

JYJ's Kim Jae Joong is set to return to the K-drama scene through Bad-Memory Eraser. 

On June 25, Kim Jae Joong was officially confirmed to lead the upcoming romantic comedy K-drama  Bad-Memory Eraser. It was also confirmed that the upcoming K-drama will premiere on August 2 exclusively on the broadcast channel MBN. 

Bad Memory Eraser will reveal the romance between a man whose life had a turnaround because of a memory eraser and a woman who has become his first love. 

Directors Kim Na Young and Yoon Ji Hoon will work together to create the upcoming series. 

Kim Jae Joong will work alongside other leads Jin Se Yeon, Lee Jong Won, Yang Hye Ji, Lee Ruby, and Jang Eui Soo. 

Bad Memory Eraser will be part of MBN's Friday and Saturday K-drama timeslot. The first episode will air on August 2 at 9:40 PM KST. 

Kim Jae Joong will portray the role of Lee Goon. He was a promising tennis player but lost his self-esteem after an injury. After encountering a memory eraser, his life had a turnaround. He erased all his memories and was reborn as someone oozing with confidence. 

This will be his comeback to the small screen after 7 years. The last time Kim Jae Joong led a K-drama was in 2017 through the series Manhole. Aside from returning to acting, Kim Jae Joong will also celebrate his 20th-anniversary debut with a comeback album.

Kim Jaejoong, Jin Se Yeon, Lee Jong Won, and Yang Hye Ji are all set for their new rom-com drama’s premiere. The highly-anticipated release is scheduled for this August. This new drama, Bad Memory Eraser, promises to portray a unique love story.

On June 25, Bad Memory Eraser’s official broadcasting network, MBN, confirmed that the drama will premiere on August 2 at 9:40 p.m. KST (6:10 p.m. IST). Bad Memory Eraser is a rom-com drama that revolves around a man whose life is changed for the better by a memory eraser and a woman who holds the key to his fate. 

 

Former TVXQ member Kim Jaejoong is returning to K-dramas after 7 years with this new rom-com. He will headline the series as Lee Goon, a promising tennis player who lost his self-esteem after a tragic accident. But with a memory eraser, he will be able to get rid of his bad memories and regain the self-esteem and confidence needed in his career.

Jin Se Yeon, known for Queen: Love and War (2019), will lead the drama alongside Kim Jaejoong. She will take on the role of Kyung Ju Yeon, a neuropsychiatrist at a neurological center.  After Lee Goon’s memory manipulation, she becomes his fake first love.

Lee Jong Won, having starred in Knight Flower (2024), The Golden Spoon (2022), and more, will embody the character of Lee Shin, Lee Goon’s popular younger brother, who is also a star tennis player. Actor Lee Jong Won is expected to bring depth to the narrative by portraying the hidden wounds of a top sportsperson while also showcasing his bromance with Kim Jaejoong.

Nevertheless (2021), actress Yang Hye Ji is set to play Jeon Sae Yan. She is the interpreter for world-famous tennis player Lee Shin. Yang Hye Ji’s addition to this drama is promising, as she won the rookie actress title in the 2023 SBS Drama Awards for her outstanding performance in Revenant.

If you had the opportunity to negate every regret and undo every embarrassing blunder that keeps you up kicking your blankets all night, would you take that second chance? In MBN’s upcoming romantic comedy Bad Memory Eraser, a washed-up athlete past his prime encounters a mystical eraser that allows him to wipe his slate clean and start over.

Kim Jae-joong (Manhole) stars as Lee Gun, a former tennis ace once lauded for his exceptional aptitude. Alas, his promising career was abruptly truncated by a devastating injury, leaving him to languish in the remnants of a shattered dream. Unable to extricate himself from his despair, Gun sank further into an endless rumination upon his untapped potential. As his self-esteem plummeted and his motivation dwindled, Gun found himself utterly at a loss — up until the day he discovers the titular eraser.

 

Scrubbing the torment of his painful memories away, Gun emerges as if reborn. No longer haunted by the shackles of his past, Gun’s confidence soars to unforeseen heights, effectively turning his life around. Along the way, he meets the psychiatrist Kyung Joo-yeon — played by Jin Se-yeon (Born Again) — who quickly becomes his first love. Or rather, his “fabricated first love,” since he does have a hefty dose of amnesia.

On that note, Joo-yeon works at a brain research center, which suggests she may take a keener interest in Gun once she learns of his extraordinary circumstances. In fact, the two may be more alike than they think. Harboring the wounds of her past, Joo-yeon struggles with expressing herself, earning her the moniker of “ice princess” for her aloof demeanor and perfectionistic tendencies. Perhaps, through her connection with Gun, she may grow more forthright with her emotions.

As for our supporting characters, we have the rising star Lee Jong-won (Knight Flower) in the role of Lee Shin, Gun’s younger brother. It seems that athletic talent flows in the Lee family veins, because Shin is the top-ranked tennis player worldwide. With his affable disposition and fervent passion, Shin has gained no small amount of admiration, but beneath his lovable persona lies deeply-concealed scars. By his side, the endearing Jeon Sae-yan — played by Yang Hye-ji (Wonderful World) — accompanies him around the world as his interpreter. Can her positivity heal Shin’s battered heart? Kim Jae Joong and Jin Se Yeon cross paths in an ill-fated encounter in Bad Memory Eraser’s new stills

On July 19, 2024, Bad Memory Eraser unveiled new stills featuring Kim Jae Joong as Lee Kun and Jin Se Yeon as Kyung Joo Yeon. 

In the first still, we see a battered Kim Jae Joong’s Lee Kun standing in front of Jin Se Yeon’s Kyung Joo Yeon at a hospital. He seems to be holding back tears as he stares at her with heartbreaking expressions. He looks utterly miserable with his bleeding lip as he tries to convey emotions to Kyung Joo Yeon. 

On the other hand, the other still shows Jin Se Yeon’s Kyung Joo Yeon showcasing an icy-cold exterior as she shows no emotion at all. Even though Lee Kun is in pain, she seems to be unfazed by it, perfectly embodying her nickname of ice princess. 

 

The last still shows the dejected Lee Kun, who is highly emotional and about to break, facing Kyung Joo Yeon with tears, who does not reciprocate, hinting at their ill-fated first encounter. The stills imply that Kim Jae Joong’s Lee Kun and Jin Se Yeon’s Kyung Joo Yeon’s love story will begin on the wrong foot while adding to viewers' anticipation. 

 

 

Meanwhile, Bad Memory Eraser is set to premiere on August 2, 2024, on MBN at 9:40 KST (6:10 PM IST) and will be available for streaming on Rakuten Viki.

MBN's upcoming weekend drama, Bad-Memory Eraser tells the story of Lee Goon, who was once a promising tennis player, but an injury shattered his dreams and crushed his self-esteem, transforming his life entirely. Using a memory eraser, his memory of his past is erased, and he is reborn with newfound confidence and charisma. 

Jin Se Yeon takes on the role of Kyung Joo Yeon, a genius neuropsychiatrist. She is in charge of the "memory eraser" surgery on Lee Goon.

In the stills, Kyung Joo Yeon is not depicted with neatly slicked-back hair and a tidied doctor's gown, as one would expect from a professional woman. Instead, she is seen glaring and sprinting down the corridor as if on a hunt. Her serious demeanor, as she ignores the puzzled looks of her fellow doctors watching her in bewilderment, evokes laughter.

JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong got honest about his experience filming his upcoming drama “Bad Memory Eraser”!

“Bad Memory Eraser” is a new MBN romance drama about a man whose life changes due to a memory eraser and the woman who holds his fate in her hands. Kim Jaejoong will star as Lee Kun, who was once a promising tennis player but lost his self-esteem and confidence after an injury. Jin Se Yeon will star as neuropsychiatrist Kyung Joo Yeon, who unintentionally winds up becoming Lee Kun’s fake first love through memory manipulation.

As “Bad Memory Eraser” marks Kim Jaejoong’s first true foray into comic acting, he confessed, “There were many times when I suddenly became self-conscious and embarrassed while acting. I was especially embarrassed when I had to act while nearly nude in front of dozens of crew members.”

However, he noted, “There’s a strong comedy element, but there are also many serious sides to the drama, so it felt like I was playing multiple roles.”

“I hope that [‘Bad Memory Eraser’] becomes a drama that is fun to watch while also touching viewers’ hearts,” he added.

 

 

Kim Jaejoong went on to recall, “While filming the scene where I talk to the dog Cola, I messed up a lot of takes because I kept bursting out laughing. However, I can confidently say that Cola is the main culprit who messed up more takes than I did.”

 

Kim Jaejoong also talked about what it was like to work with his co-stars Jin Se Yeon and Lee Jong Won, who plays his on-screen brother.

“Jin Se Yeon has the ability to brighten the filming set with her presence,” said Kim Jaejoong. “She never stops smiling, and she is very focused while acting, so I had a lot to learn from her. Kyung Joo Yeon’s comic acting in the drama is especially top-notch, so make sure you don’t miss it.”

As for Lee Jong Won, Kim Jaejoong remarked, “He’s the cutie pie of the filming set. I was impressed by his flexibility during filming, and we’ve now become close like friends.”
