Byeon Woo Seok Transforms Into A Handsome Convenience Store Employee For His "No Gain No Love" Cameo

tvN’s “No Gain No Love” has shared a sneak peek of Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Jung Eun’s upcoming special appearances!

“No Gain No Love” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Son Hae Young (Shin Min Ah), a woman who fakes a marriage to avoid missing out on a promotion at work. Kim Young Dae stars as Kim Ji Wook, the man who agrees to become her fake husband.

Spoilers

Previously on “No Gain No Love,” Son Hae Young made up her mind to fake a wedding—partly out of anger towards her ex-boyfriend and partly due to rumors that unmarried women couldn’t be recruited for the top teams at her company. After recruiting Kim Ji Wook as her fake bridegroom, Son Hae Young discovered while preparing for their wedding that he was actually not the “average-looking” groom she’d been hoping for: once he took off his glasses and donned a tuxedo, he turned out to be a total dreamboat.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episodes, Son Hae Young and Kim Ji Wook unexpectedly run into two new characters played by Kim Jung Eun and Lee Joong Ok.

While Son Hae Young seems a bit flustered by the encounter, Kim Jung Eun’s character is practically beaming as she forms a zero with one hand.

The next set of photos offers a glimpse of Byeon Woo Seok’s cameo as a convenience store part-timer.

When Son Hae Young sees Byeon Woo Seok’s character, she is unable to hide her disappointment at the fact that he is not Kim Ji Wook. As she glumly places a heap of gummies on the checkout counter with a pout, Byeon Woo Seok looks at her with mild confusion, piquing curiosity over what will unfold between the two characters.

The “No Gain No Love” production team remarked, “We are so thankful to the actors who, out of friendship and loyalty, readily agreed to make cameo appearances in our drama in bad weather amidst their busy schedules. Please look forward to the performances of these actors, who will leave deep impressions with even a brief appearance.”

To catch Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Jung Eun’s cameos, tune in to the third and fourth episodes of “No Gain No Love” on September 2 and 3 at 8:50 p.m. KST!

Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching (August 31, 2024)

by DB Staff

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

No Gain No Love: What a fun premiere! I love when dramas lean into the cheesiness with the onscreen graphics, sound effects, and imagined scenarios. Shin Mina’s tablecloth wedding gown + dry heaving when the bride and groom kissed was gold. Also, points for this drama having our leads already know each other and skipping the introductions. So rare for a romcom of this nature.

Shin Min Ah And Kim Young Dae Grow Closer While Preparing For Their Fake Marriage In “No Gain No Love”

Sep 02, 2024
by E Ezeji

tvN’s “No Gain No Love” has shared stills from its upcoming episode!

“No Gain No Love” is a new romantic comedy that tells the story of Son Hae Young (Shin Min Ah), a woman who fakes a marriage to avoid missing out on a promotion at work. Kim Young Dae stars as Kim Ji Wook, the man who agrees to become her fake husband.

Spoilers

In the last episode of “No Gain No Love,” Son Hae Young asked Kim Ji Wook, who had been particularly grumpy toward her, to pretend to be her fake groom. As a result, Hae Young began preparing for the wedding with Ji Wook, who has a plain appearance and works part-time at a convenience store. However, contrary to her wish for the groom to be unremarkable, she was stunned by Ji Wook’s dramatic makeover during his suit fitting at the dress shop.

The released stills depict a sweet and affectionate moment between Hae Young and Ji Wook, who seem to have grown closer while preparing for their fake marriage.

Ji Wook, who knows a lot about Hae Young’s past relationships and food preferences, surprises her with a special event. Although Hae Young arrives at the convenience store with little expectation, she can’t hide her delight at Ji Wook’s thoughtful actions.

Hae Young will see various sides of Ji Wook at the convenience store, following his surprising transformation at the dress shop. This raises curiosity about the special proposal Ji Wook prepares for Hae Young.

Viewers are curious about why Hae Young and Ji Wook, who originally planned only a fake wedding ceremony, are now moving forward with a proposal. Also, Ji Wook’s gentle smile toward Hae Young adds to the curiosity about how this proposal might change their previously hostile relationship.

No Gain No Love: Episodes 3-4

by Unit

It’s contract marriage o’clock, and our heroine belatedly realizes she snagged an original luxury item instead of the knock-off she was shopping for. But it’s too late to back out now, and the show must go on!

EPISODES 3-4

The week resumes with Ji-wook’s tuxedo transformation that slackens everyone’s jaws at the wedding shop. Like monitoring spirits — which they embodied all week — Woo-jae and his wife are also present, and while the wife swoons, her husband stews. Woo-jae can’t believe his ex is getting married to a younger and more handsome man, and his jealousy increases when Ji-wook invents a childhood connection love story with Hae-young. Pfft. This groom has watched too many K-dramas. Woo-jae starts working on the math: if Hae-young and Ji-wook are childhood friends, when did they start dating? Is Ji-wook the reason she broke up with me? Did she start dating him immediately after our breakup? But coming from a two-timer, X + Y = itZ none of your business.

Meanwhile, Hae-young is not pleased that her husband-to-be did not inform her of his lethal face card. But maybe this is her wake-up call to start paying more attention to him. Ji-wook, on the other hand, can’t help but remember all Hae-young’s words and actions because he has a crush on her his brain is a “computer” that registers the details of her private life she spills without a care at the convenience store. Okay, genius.

We move on to the last stage of wedding planning: the proposal. Ideally, this should be the first stage, but what does order matter in a fake wedding? Hae-young needs video highlights of their romantic history to be played at the wedding. But maybe what she needs is a psychiatric evaluation, as Ji-wook says. Because who goes around alone with their camera to fake being on dates with their partner? Lol.

Ji-wook ends up planning a thoughtfully cute proposal which is true to the nature of their convenience store relationship. He arranges cup yogurt by color to spell the “marry me” and gives Hae-young a ring made from her favorite brand of jelly — which has been discontinued. But Ji-wook called the manufacturer and other stores that carried the product, and bought out the last batch in stock. “You said it’s your favorite and I wanted to see you happy,” he says to Hae-young. And anyone who says romance is dead clearly has never been swept off their feet by a K-drama male lead.

The wedding ceremony finally arrives, and we get a glass of melancholy margarita when we see Hae-young’s mom in the waiting room taking pictures with her relatives and friends. This is part of Hae-young’s plans for Mom to say goodbye to her people and vice versa, and this leaves Hee-sung and Ja-yeon with misty eyes. We’re also treated to a side-eye sandwich when Hee-sung catches the bouquet, and the significance of the action makes her boyfriend of ten years uncomfortable because he’s a chronic cheat. And she knows this, but she has chosen to ignore it for reasons best known to her.

Following the ceremony, we get a taste of honeymoon hotdogs — but ain’t nothing ~hot~ about the newlyweds staying up to count the congratulatory money. Heh. I did appreciate that Hae-young and Ji-wook were comfortable around each other and didn’t fight over the division of the bed like many a K-drama couple stuck with the one bed trope. The attraction is there, there’s a hint of awareness, but there’s little to no awkwardness between them. And I love it.

Looking for something light, I started watching because I do like Shin MInAh and have Amazon prime -sad this series wasn’t available on Viki.  Surprisingly I am really enjoying it, although there are some well-known story lines like the fake marriage, SMA’s quirkiness really works to make it more interesting, and the side story of the foster-sister, now friend, being an author of erotica, has really been delightful. The reactions of the CEO’s wife while reading her books and those of her sonny boy, is hysterical, it’s rather well done from the writing and the directing and acting… nice to have something not violent to look forward to. I spend so much my time with news and it gives a needed break. So many of the exported K dramas have much too much violence in them these days. The Good Partner has also been a series I look forward to, which does touch on serious matters, well balanced with character development, and lots of human touch…

Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching (September 7, 2024)

No Gain No Love: This is probably my favorite currently airing drama. The story itself isn’t terribly groundbreaking — contract marriage with a guy who’s extremely attractive once you give him a She’s All That makeover — but the humor is sharp and slightly more adult than what is typically found in a K-drama. Not to mention, the not-so-subtle jabs at societal and corporate sexism.
