Seo Ji-hye, a sophisticated look with a tweed coat and vest

[S Note] K-sitcom that cuts the Mac... Can 'The Birth of a Nation' Continue?

 

 

I wonder when was the last time I saw a sitcom that exploded. Recently, works that try to revive the sitcom are coming out one by one, but it's not cool. Attention is paid to what the newly introduced 'Birth of a Nation' will be like.

 

 

From the 1990s to the 2000s, sitcoms were at their peak. MBC's 'Three Men, Three Women', 'Hello Francesca', 'Nonstop' and 'High Kick' series, SBS 'Soonpoong Obstetrics and Gynecology', 'We can't stop them', KBS 'Old Miss Diary' etc. Many stars, such as Jo In-sung, Song Seung-heon, and Han Ye-seul, who are currently top-class actors have passed through.

 

But now, I wonder if there are any sitcoms. Netflix's 'I Wish the Earth Will Be Ruined', which appeared ambitiously in June, did not gain as much popularity as before. 

 

The reason that sitcoms are being ignored is the proliferation of video short-form content including YouTube. Existing sitcoms melted comic elements in short episodes of about 20 minutes. At that time, it was a short and bold content that brought laughter. But now, there are a lot of short and interesting content online that can be as long as 10 minutes. 

 

Whether it is an OTT platform or over-the-air broadcasting, if it is produced in the form of a broadcast, the level of expression is limited. On the other hand, YouTube is relatively less restrictive. Remarks close to 19 gold and light abusive language are no longer the object of rejection, but have become a point of laughter.
