I don't know has anyone mention it or not. But the scene in ep 18 when they come back from drinking JH, TK and DS escort drunken DR to his house, then DR says something about remembering the past, when he always come last, and some other thing i cant type here, afterthat three of them give unexplained face expression that i really dont understand. Can someone explain this for me? Or is something ever happen between the four excluding sunwoo like maybe junghwan and taek love problem with deoksun that dongryeong help to solve? After that deoksun fell and both of them catch her and somehow they put awkward expression. I really think DR have big role in their triangle love. But DR said he never see JH confess so i really dont have idea what DR mean in his drunk state. Help meeee. Anyway this is my first post since im a silent lurker here.

Haha just make sure Pd-nim and writer-nim that in case the other way around happened and Taek isn't the husband make a cameo of a popular star in the level of Ha Ji Won, Jun Ji Hyun, Song Hye Kyo and Kim Tae Hee. Or even someone like Park Shin Hye, Suzy etc. and make them his wife, all of them! (me thinking it will never happen so confident he is the husband lols). Probably, that will save my broken heart just a tiny bit hahaha.

Waa after reading all of your post, i'm sure that i'm indeed board on the right ship, i love how we keep being modest and low profil, as much as we want uri taeki to be deoksun husband all of us also prepare for the worst. Moreover how we aren't being too biased here, i mean we also feel the paint that junghwan has when he confess to deoksun, we don't mock or being mean to him, but we give our empathy  to him (it's not a pity it's empathy) i can see how we are different with the other shipper who (sorry to say) feels like they only care about what they think it's right for them, and super insists that's the are the only one who is right about everything. 

Even untill now, i still and still want taek to be the husband, yet again i don't want, and i'm afraid to put my hope high, i don't wanna be hurt again like the last time (Reply 94). I'm afraid that even with all of these clues that point out to taek the writer will chose jung hwan. 

In the other hand i'm also afraid that if taek is really is the husband then the "bad" netizens will send their hatred towards Park Bo Geum, they won't do that right? I'm kind of worry if that happened to Bo Geum..

But anyway, i'm so happy being in this ship with you guys, thank you for the amazing posts and all!

Episode 18: Taek, The Tease

In this episode, everyone had been leading their own busy lives hence only five years later did the Ssangmun-dong gang gather again just like the good, 'ol days, in time for Taek's birthday celebration. If you pay careful attention, you would notice Taek had started to proactively tease Deoksun, whereas unlike before, he wouldn't initiate anything and would probably just laugh along with everyone as the other guys poke fun at her while hanging out together.

 

Exhibit A (Taek's birthday party):

Look at that grin. You're enjoying this too much, Taek. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Wahahahahahahahahaha!

 

Exhibit B (Meetup at DR's resto, DS the last one to arrive)

The moment DS arrived, it was Taek who called her out as Sooyeon first and he was even the one who initiated the chanting with Sunwoo. You cute, adorable, baduk person. Heeeeeeeeeh, stop it! 

 

Exhibit C (Talking about the guy DS was dating)

This just speaks future KJH husband to me. So much, I could fight with anyone who says otherwise for this, istg. LOL

 

Taek had gotten snarkier over the past five years and I'm anticipating for more of these in the last two episodes. It's nice that he's starting to talk a lot more, in line with his father's wishes in episode 17 so here's to more!

I love how strong you are though! I'm currently having trust issues because of all the theories and all the bickering between the two ships.

Nevetheless, I can't believe how good this drama is. I started watching and didn't expect anything.

 

See how my thoughts evolved below:

1. OK. This drama might be good. I haven't seen 1994 but I did enjoy 1997

2. Ohhh Sun Woo is so relatable (to me) and he's sporty and cute too. Maybe he's the husband. And this is a SW vs JH love triangle 

3. But he ends up with Bora (the character closest to my character hehe) so I'm happy for them

4. Ohhhh so JH enjoys SW-BR? Hehe cute. why can't he just admit it

5. He still can't admit it. Although he stopped the blind date??

6. Yaaaaa... Taekie is entering the picture. But no chance at all. DS thinks he's an idiot and a baby

7. But he's so outspoken!!!! 

8. Taek gave way for JH. If Taek still can't find someone else, he's going to be alone. He can't even talk to other girls openly (I was team low expectation because majority were saying it's JH)

9. BUT HE KISSED HER. ISN'T THAT SUPPOSED TO SHOW HE'S STEPPING UP.

10. still nothing happened. JH hasn't confessed yet again.

11. I'M PRAYING FOR THIS SHIP. TAEK ACTUALLY GOT THE RIGHT TIMING AND IS GRABBING HIS CHANCE.

But I believe the chocolate is for SW, since she sent another gift to SW's study room desk (a cassette with candy)

Yes, I think so too. He purposely behave the way he did. I remember his dad said he'll be polite to people he doesn't like. And for his date I bet he went as far as cold, quiet & unresponsive.  Also during adult conversation,  SW's mom said its not  helping when he doesn't know how to say 'No' when people set him up for blind dates, so he just went there,  eat quietly & come back. 

I guess its one reason why he told SW to shut up when he starts talking abt his (TK) date, its not just becos he's embarrass but more that he's afraid DS wud see right through him.

Sumone mentioned abt TK stalking DS watching FG with her date...hahaha...I cud be true. So far we have seen TK has no problem refusing any gathering/party by his club members if he refused to go, yet he accepted this one. I'm not even surprised if he suggested it...haha

I still think DR page TK to tell him DS was dump by her date, that's why DR was nonchalant & didn't even worry abt her because though he doesn't love DS as a woman he's the closest to DS next to TK. While JH was still contemplating to go or not to go,  I suspect DR has made his way to the phone booth & leave the mssg to TK. Surely giving a pager to TK for his birthday wud have it purpose

And do you guys notice the changes in TK character between 1988 to 1994? In 1988/89 he's more reserved & introvert but in 1994 he's more playful & cheeky & love teasing DS as much as the rest.

Another thing I noticed abt TK, he can really put an innocent face & lie...the first time when DS shot him with 'do you enjoy watching that kind (porn) movie, he quickly look at her with an innocent face & said No, when we all know he enjoys it as much as the rest. And the other rime when JH ask him if he look inside his wallet, he said no when its obvious he must have or how else he wud know the wallet belongs to JH *roll-eyes*

Yeah, same worries from before. I posted about PBG on this thread about him getting lots of hate from knetz but someone told me this and I'm gonna tell u the same thing "don't worry, he'll do just fine, Trash oppa survived the bashing." PBG will also survive haha! He can handle it, I'm sure he will not let that affect him. He is "namja"! lols. Also, he have lots of fans who's there to support him and r all willing to fight for him. He is also a God fearing person the way I see it, so probably he will be sad, but pray and smile about it the next day and all the haters r gone lols, he will not die or result to any kind of suicide or addiction (worst case scenario, I'm not suggesting this but just an example).

Also, remember when there's an article that they bashed him so much because they think he is a member of a cult? (haha someone said that they will save him lols) he went through it and he survived! so I think he'll do just fine I believe in him! and I also believe in writer-nim to write a beautiful story for him and Deoksun that will justify him being the husband so all their hate will all be nonsense at the end hahahaha

I'm sure all the ahjumma's love him! 40% of Reply 1988 viewers are in their 40's. There's this interview correct me if I'm wrong that PBG said to the ahjumma's to call him oppa! Wahahaha

Hold on, regarding the chocolate theory, I'm kind of confused, hehe.

Deoksun was infatuated with the idea of SW/JH liking her, which also helped boost her self-esteem up at the moment. Her self-esteem was something that had always been really low before since her middle child dilemma and the thought of people liking her first gave her such a rush that even if the chocolates were intended for Taek, meaning her initial feelings to be pushed aside for this exciting discovery, she was swayed by her friends' enticing words and decided to heed to their advices. Being naive with love and all, what she did was she tried to chase love rather than to wait for it to grow and bloom into something beautiful. These unsuccessful endeavors, in return, had her end up asking Dongryong for direction in episode 14 then realising what had went wrong when she started trying her luck out when it comes to romantic relationships. *commence the pitter-patter in her heart whenever she's with Taek in the succeeding episodes*

This is how I understood it. Did I get at least the gist of it correctly? Hahahahaha!

I'm probably just the same as you, having trust issues and nervous at the same time actually diff. kind of emotions but I choose to have faith in our ship. We are team low expectation and open to any possibilities. After all, isn't it a miracle already that we're here? because they all thought from the start this ship is expected to sink. So why not believe in another miracle? or better seek that 1% possibility? After all JH and Taek have 50-50 percent survival chance of being the husband (so, not just JH ship even Taek ship (equal chance, see that? like in the ICU fighting for our lives, life and death situation lols). If they can be happy and joke about things why not us? whatever the result maybe at the end we experience the joy of celebration and that is enough. Like what others said we can always create our own happy ending Taek  Deoksun. Sorry for long post haha. Cheer up!

Do they sing on their own soundtrack/album? or real singers? Because I want to hear PBG singing, I'll probably purchase the album haha.

-not that I know of, anyone knows? but in the Reply 1988 album is it only the soundtrack of real singers featured in the drama? or is it possible if they add PBG singing or Hyeri their own version of it (like in reply 1997 they have their own theme song/duet). I would probably buy that haha.

I believe, DS never realised to like someone romantically at that time. She hasn't got any crush until her friends told her. Ep 2 and ep 3 happen not in consecutive timeline... it moved back and fro. That's why a bit confusing.. However, at that time, is the time where DS started have crush to SW. So I believe the chocolate intended to SW. However, somehow, the chocolate lost and end up in JB's pocket (as packmule3 said before in her post). So, from the ep 18, I just find, maybe Packmule3 theory is true, that the Chocolate misdirected to JB. If the future husband Taek, I believe, SW will share all secret about DS with Taekkie.. or DS mentioned in her diary and Future husband read it. However, nobody knows where the chocolate's gone to.  that's the mystery..
