For those who frequent Quilt we all know who Mr. Fumi is, right? Anyway, since we always quote Mr. Fumi in this thread here's something about him which I got from bb's translated post in Quilt last May 2005 which Mr. Fumi wrote in Aug 2004. Mr. Fumi had so many interesting articles one of which is the Analyzing Yon-Sama series that he shared with us. We are so grateful to have him in Quilt and we've learn so many things about how the korea and japanese ent work. We will be sharing some of his articles soon. For the meantime, enjoy this article about Fumi-san.

Analyzing Yon-Sama - Part 61 (B)

Original in Japanese: Fumi / www.k-plaza.com / 2004/09/06

Translated into Chinese: Truelove77 / www.loveyongjoon.com

Today, I had a look at the Korean official board (OB)

after quite many days of not visiting the website.

My computer has broken down, that’s why I haven’t been online for sometime.

According to the news on the OB, Yong Joon is now torn between two movie scripts,

but it appears he’s inclined to accept the one by Director Heo Jin Ho.

The other one is perhaps the script on Kim Hong Do.

It’s been a week since Yong Joon met with Director Heo.

Over at Director Heo’s side, it seems he’s also undecided between two storylines.

Although I did hear that the two plots are not very much different,

or at least I couldn’t quite tell the difference (chuckles).

I’ve heard about synopsis, but can’t quite remember exactly.

Seems to be something like this…

A love story between a man and two women.

One woman was in Seoul and the other in the countryside,

and one of these parties has fallen ill

(The male or the female? Sorry, I’ve forgotten).

It’s a story that is based on some sickness and a love triangle.

I think there’re two possible developments to the story,

but the key structure that forms the story is not that different.

Judging from how there’s still been no official announcement about his new work,

it seems that Yong Koon is troubled over something..?

Or maybe they’re working out the terms of the contract and are in the midst of negotiation?

I believe that this will be something worth waiting for.

Who will be the two actresses? It’s unlikely that Jeon Do Yeon will act in it.

I personally think Kim Hye Soo is not bad.

Having written this much, lately a lot of people are asking,

who’s this fumi person who’s writing this series?

Then let me just do a simple self-introduction.

In the past, someone has mentioned on the Korean OB that

she would read this series in its entirety only after I’ve completed the whole series.

But this so-called analysis of mine is not something suited for continuous reading,

or to be read in a holistic manner.

Well, I just write on whichever day I feel like, and just stop whenever I don’t feel it.

There’s no such thing as continuity or connectivity between the parts in this series.

The use of the “analyzing” is half in jest.

But because of it, it sure appears that some people are taking this series quite seriously.

I’m actually the sort of person who enjoys joking and clowning around a little.

But after using the word “analyzing” in my posting title,

it doesn’t appear to be too much of a joke (chuckles).

I’ve briefly said something about myself in the past too.

Well, I’m not from the entertainment industry. Not in Korea, and not in Japan.

Nobody knows me. A fraction of people see me as a Korean who’s familiar with Japan.

What I do for a living is working on community work

that shapes the ties between Japan and Korea.

In the nineties, I’ve also done work that involved introducing Korean artistes

to the Japanese market, helping them find work in Japan.

So occasionally I too am involved in entertaiment-related work matters.

But up to now, I’ve never been paid in monetary terms for such work.

I do think that I’m a Korean who does understand the Japanese market to a certain extent,

and I take pride in this knowledge, so I involved myself in consultancy work

such as introducing Korean singers and Korean movies to Japan.

When Japanese movies were imported into Korea, I too was consulted on.

I did all these because I’m a fan of movies and TV dramas.

It’s from the position and viewpoint of a fan that I involved myself in such work.

From the nineties, for about seven years or so,

I’ve been assisting in the matter of introducing Korean singers into Japan.

During this period, I’ve also gotten to know some people

in the Japanese entertainment trade.

And from the time Japanese movies were allowed to enter the Korean market,

I also partook in the selection of the Japanese movies to be screened in Korea.

But of course… Akira Kurosawa and Takesh Kitano’s works

did not happen to become successful because of my recommendations (chuckles).

In Korea, I’m very good friends with the managers of some artistes.

Although I’m quite a lot older in terms of age,

and although I do not know Yong Joon’s manager,

I do know two friends of his manager.

Now what I work on a volunteer basis is to invite Yong Joon to visit Kyushu.

But my real work?

Well, I do economical analysis centreing on Japan-Korea relations.

~ have we posted this ? anyway, this is one of those beautiful passages written by a BYJ fan that is worth reading over & over again :) and thanks to bb for translating this heatfelt piece ;)

[Trans] Watching You is Happiness Enough

bb: i've always enjoyed reading passages written by fans

that reflect their thoughts about yong joon,

because more often than not, these thoughts are shared by many other fans.

these may not be the most well written or most beautiful of verses,

but i like them anyway, because in their simplicity,

they reflect the writers' truest thoughts.

what can be more touching than words that come from the heart?

here's one written by a fellow fan from mainland china.

what she has written is echoed by many fans from all over.

Watching You is Happiness Enough

My friend heard that Yong Joon may be coming to Mainland China

to promote April Snow in September,

and she asked me, “Would you go and see him?”

I smiled, but did not answer.

I know myself that I will not go.

Countless times, I’ve imagined what it would be like to see Yong Joon in the flesh,

would I be screaming excitedly,

or would I be rooted to the ground as I tried to still my speeding heart…

I’ve absolutely no idea what it would be.

I yearn to see him, yet I’m also afraid to see him.

I can imagine the moment of intense happiness, of immense joy

when I do lay eyes on him, but what about afterwards?

The sense of loss and how I would miss him so much after he’s gone…

Surely that’s not something I can withstand.

Today, on the public bus,

I was watching the people on the streets from the bus window,

and Yong Joon came to mind again.

Never knew it is such a joy to always have someone on my mind.

What is he doing now?

Is he going over the script with the director?

Is he taking pictures with his camera?

Or is he saying hello to the fans this very moment…?

Really wish he's be able to relax a little more, able to be more at ease.

I’ve wondered,

what would my life be had I not encountered Yong Joon.

Maybe, life would be as uneventful as it is, now the missing him,

the having someone in my heart would not be there.

And the sweet joy that comes with the thought of his smile would not be there.

Maybe, I would not feel so sorry that I couldn’t understand what he’s saying.

Maybe, I would not feel so sad that the distance between us is so far apart.

Maybe, I would not, over and over again, cry over JunSahng and ChanWoo.

But I know for sure that I would not be able to experience the beautiful things

that come because of him,

and I would not be able to feel the heartbeat of blissful happiness

that come because of him.

If I have to make that choice all over again,

I would still choose to have this beautiful encounter.

Liking someone can be so simple, and so absolute.

I wish to be able to stand behind him forever,

to watch him silently, to wish him well.

I hope I can be his Polaris, watch over him forever and bless him with happiness.

Perhaps, he will never, ever, know who I am,

but the understanding and sensitive soul in him would surely know

that there are many of us who may be oceans apart from him

and may never get a chance to meet him,

but regardless, we will support him as always, we will watch over him quietly,

and through all these, he will experience happiness.

Yes, I believe he will feel, it, he will know it….

[Letter from Reader]Korean language hot wind in Japanese homemakers

to write a letter to BYJ in Korean

Kim Eojin, homemaker, Tokyo City, Japan

[Chosun Daily]10/10/05 19:42 12'

200510100485_00.jpg

I am homemaker who came to Japan 3 years ago due to my husband's job. While making home, I teach Korean language at an (educational) institute as a side work. It is thanks to Korean Current.

At present, the Korean Current inside Japan is like 'digging up potatoes'. While digging up one which they spot, they lift up one after another which are attached behind. Currently, the Japanese people are digging up Korea one by one through Korean films or dramas, and actors. The first thing the Japanese people dug up was warm heart Korean people had. They have dug up value view and personality-sensibility of Korean people, love among family & friendship, beautiful Korean custumes, and food, and is digging a little by little even Korean history at this time.

Actually, the ordinary Japanese people do not know very well even the recent appearance of Korea, let alone her history. The majority were news delivered one-directionally through the media, and pretty much part of them were appearace far from the reality. However, recently, the Japanese themselves are putting effort in order to know Korea correctly. Tha is the power of the Korean Current.

In the center of such Korean Current, there is Mr. 'BYJ' no matter who says what. The most of Japanese people who learn Korean language from me are BYJ's fans. Those are people who, having watched dubbed dramas where BYJ appeared at first, began to study Korean language in the heart desiring to listen personally to Mr. Bae's voice in Korean. Having done that, they now talk without hesitation that they would like to learn Korean language enough for them to leave Mr. Bae's Korea official homepage letters in Hangeul(Korean alphabets). While we pass Hangeul Day (October 9-when Great King Sejong, 4th King in Chosun Dynasty, created Hangeul), I wish the Japanese people's hot wind to learn Korean language, which was triggered by Mr. Bae, to continue.
