Sorry so excited that I dont notice it already posted before.
Well, I guess LBS is saved for now... Maybe we can see cameo from C-JES actors... We need Park Sun Woong in this drama too. So I guess Gummy or Junsu or maybe Jaejoong will sang the OST.

Lee got love, the series got rage. Justifiably so. Well, I'm sure those sad souls who called him a pedophile don't have the maturity or capacity to change their minds, unless they were 13, but he did get many new young fans, both domestically and abroad. Lots of people appreciate the man-pain, it seems. But yes, nowhere near as many as the ones Jae Joong has.

And yes, the 'IRIS' franchise was an action blockbuster so the scale feels very different to this. But for marketing purposes and fancying it up, a lot of dramas do that. Politics and tourism is probably involved too.

A gangster and a cold chaebol are very different from the impression they generally give to the audiences. So I wonder what Lee sees in his character, what this character has to offer. Other than the foreseeable man-pain, we don't know much about him...I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well 'em i wierd if i say that i'll check this drama because it has Lee Beom Soo in it and not for Jaejoong and for Siwan ?Even in IRIS 2 i was rooting for him to blow up the leads...This 2 are really lucky indeed to work with such a great actor and they should take it as a live acting lesson as well i may add...I really hope this plot will be intresting and somehow mantaining the normal standard and not come with crazy scenarios that have the intent to kill my brain or my computer neverless...Hope this one will be a plesant surprise and be a succes because LBS deserves it...by the way, from those who knwo better,is his hand all better?i know he needed surgery but had problems because of the anterior drama sheldule

Since everyone is all about the actors, I'll give some infos on the writer and PD of the project. After researching on the writer of this project, I think I'm more in love with him than the cast. Because this man is amazing, his screenplay managed to get such high ratings.

First, I would like to say that Iris 2 wasn't written by Choi Wan Kyu, which is why it was so bad. Iris 2 was written by the same writer who wrote Poseidon; Jo Kyu Won

Choi Wan Kyu is a prolific writer in kdrama industry. He has up to 3 highest rated dramas in the history of Kdramas.

Heo Joon ( MBC 63.7% )

Jumong (cowritten w/ Jung Hyun Soo for MBC 51.9% )

The Legend of Ambition ( KBS2 50.2% )

All In ( SBS 47.7% )

Iris ( cowritten w/ Kang Je Kyu for KBS2 40% )

The other below 30%, in the range of double digit ratings:

Swallow the Sun ( SBS )

Midas ( SBS )

Lights and Shadows ( MBC )

Love Story in Harvard (cowritten w/ So Eun Hye SBS )

Gourmet ( cowritten w/ Park Hoo Jung for SBS )

The Kingdom of the Winds (cowritten for KBS2)

General Hospital 2 ( cowritten for MBC )

His worst drama is the remake of Heo Joon, Gu Am Heo Joon with 132 episodes. Which has rising ratings by each ep, though it never break out of 11%. So the worst Triangle will do is at the level of Gu Am Heo Joon

Taewon only hit drama was Iris, which was written by Choi Wan Kyu and Kang Je Kyu, however the screenwriters were from three others. I think if you want to know how Choi Wan Kyu write his plays, watch Midas, and Lights and Shadows since it's modern and his more recent stuff. Midas deals with chaebols stuff.

I don't know if it's already confirmed, but the director for Triangle is rumored to be Yoo Chul Yong, who did All In, Into the Storm and Swallow the Sunwith Choi Wan Kyu

And, well, since he's my bias, I'd like to put this out,Taewon has been eyeing Jaejoong since Iris. LOL. All them moolah in Japan is a lure. Anyway, I think Taewon is more known for their movies, one of their most recent known is 71: Into the Fire.

So that's that. Here's to hoping for more news, there are so little news regarding this project.

I'm looking forward to the bromance hehehe. I happened to know that Jaejoong has a knack for befriending his co-workers, and i'm sure Im Siwan would want to meet one of the veteran of Kpop which is Jaejoong (JYJ members are hard to meet for the new idols) and a veteran of the acting world, Lee Beom Soo, so this is gonna be a fun team.

I hope the writer give me 'bonding' time of the three brothers, by 'bonding' I really mean the ranges of bonding: hugs, kisses, punches.

Hugs and neck-grabs are a standard bromantic practice and I imagine we'll get punches too. The youngest will be punching his money, the middle one everyone he meets and the oldest his middle one, the way this is going. I also hope they realize their main cast and bromance potential is the most exciting thing about this.

Nirvana said: But I do noticed a pattern, and that you should always trust on the resume of the writers and directors. If they got up to 2 hit shows on their resume, chances are, the new project will do average to well and splended. Ratings speaks volume on the resume of Kdramas writers and directors.

@Nirvana, I guess you meant skilled writers in the sense of making series a hit, but as you say, that is more about popularity than artistic quality. I go for the latter, which most of the big ratings successes often lack.

And yes, the ages only matter in two aspects. Realism and legality. In romances, any age gap goes and is realistic, as long as the characters and actors do not include a minor. That is romanticizing pedophilia and it is morally messed up. In this case, even their real ages could have them as siblings. There is nothing unrealistic about a family having one kid around 21, another when they're 37 and one just before their 40s. Still perfectly doable biologically even beyond that. But as you say, each actor and with the right style can get a few years taken or added in as well. We're just so used to pretty people of the same age group in certain types of relationships in dramas that we completely forget reality does not work like dramas. Which is a scary thought...

And I'm 100% with you on the love lines. Other than how they affect the guys, I don't need much more focus there. I love strongly written female characters and healthy romances and wish more dramas could have them, but in a series all about the man-pain, emphasis on their romance rather than the relationship between them is just not the way to go. There will be romance, since this is kdrama and melo and audiences can't survive without wuuuv shoved everywhere, but I just hope they don't focus there because it sells more.

'Prime Minister and I' was a great series and would have been my favorite romcom alongside 'That Fool', had they not lost their minds near the end. Something clearly went wrong and they both chickened out on the skinship and romance, but also the newly formed family. It was probably pressure on being "morally decent". And Korean audiences want pretty boys, not ajeossis, in romances. Add to that the idol hate and the fact that it was up against 'Empress Ki' (sageuk and melo sell like mad, but a combination is unmatched in terms of ratings) and it just did not do well, so the makjang started pouring in. I think they are very good with romcom, but they chicken out at the end. If they fixed that and did not go for melo and all the tropes, they would rock.

I also wish this will do well. If not in quality, at least in ratings. It will likely be Jae Joong's last drama before the army and it's important that he leaves with a good work behind. And for Lee as well, having done 'Bong Dal Hee', 'Giant' and 'Salaryman', he raised the bar quite high for himself so he could use a proper big hit again.

While I am not confident in artistic quality terms, I do think the series will do well in a business/ratings sense. Pretty boys: check, romance: check, copious amounts of man-pain: check. It will be up against 'Big Man', for a part and also 'Doctor Stranger', but since KBS has not been doing so hot lately, 'Doctor Stranger' is the one that will determine ratings. Given that one has some popular names, especially Park Hae Jin, who just exited a big hit drama, I don't think 'Triangle' will do as well as we'd like, but you never know.

I'm going into this just hoping it's bearable and that it pays the actors enough without giving them a trauma or any bad rep. :)) That is usually how I approach dramas, although obviously creators I have seen make good stories before are a bit of a comfort and so is the station and a good production company.

@Orion I'm going to have to trust and rely on Choi Wan Kyu writing style for this one since I happened to like the feel of Midas and his Lights and Shadows got great reviews for it.
If anyone want to see Im Siwan acting, I recommend watching Waiting For Love (on Youtube) since it's one of his recent works. It's a 2 ep drama. Though it's offtopic from the thread, but it's for anyone who wants to know his acting credential for this project.
Siwan improved a lot compared to his first time in Moon/Sun. And he's so adorable! Saw a few clips of him on idol shows with his group, and his personality is similar to Jaejoong (dorks) and the two of them are going to tackle cold blooded roles HAHAHA!

I think LBS is probably a dork in real life as well since he is best friend with SSH. LBS can help Yoona in acting, but can't for SSH... now that's comedy.

Jaejoong acting improved in Jackal, but I sure hope he knows what to do with his limbs this time because his best scenes in Jackal Is Coming was mostly him tied up. He gets fidgeting when he talks with loose arms.
And I think that's about it from my research lol. I went offtopic a few time, but I'm so nervous and anxious whenever anyone of my favorite actors has a project that I ended up searching for the behind the scenes people. Especially for a project with so little news.

What will we do without SSH in this industry? Honestly, SSH has a lot of presence, he is leading man material, but man, if only he learns to act, he could very well be up there with WB and KDW, but too bad he don't care

LOL, it sounded odd, but yeah, his best scenes are all tied up. In Jackal, he improved in speaking tone, less slurring, better/smoother transitions of expressions, but the movements needed works. Again, I hope the director for this one is half as good as Bae Hyeon Jun ( director for Jackal, also did Too Beautiful to Lie, managed to make KDW show expressions in the movie iirc of what I read.)

I have a feeling we're gonna get the best of both worlds for this one, older brother lovelife is gonna be normal, while the two youngest one is going to get the makjang one, and I can't wait. Makjang is only enjoyable with actors you want to watch in it. But so far, nothing on who's the leading lady is, and another young woman for the two younger one loveline, and no date of script-reading though it should be or rumored to be this week. We're almost done with the week. This drama casting is also hush hush because in JJ fandom, there was rumor of him doing a drama in May back in January or February of the year, then the news come out as if he just got the script and is working on the terms... LOL
