I’m sure she’ll look lovely in slumber too but would be nice to see how she is going to be styled for her role. Joo-won goes on the run for Yong-pal

 

 

Ah, it’s nice to have an intrigue-filled set of stills as our first look at a drama, and here we are with the promise of thrills for SBS’s upcoming melodrama Yong-pal. The series centers around a talented surgeon who takes illegal side jobs treating the rich in secret, operating under the code name Yong-pal, and I’ve been hoping the story would live up to the darkness hinted at from the premise. This is only a few shots, but so far I’m encouraged. 

Joo-won plays that doctor, and in these early shoots he’s depicted mid-chase scene alongside a gangster boss (Song Kyung-chul), who’s sporting a nasty wound in his abdomen. Reasons aren’t given for why the two men are on the run or why they end up on a bridge railing, but we do know that Joo-won will make friends (or at least allies) with shadowy types who hover on the fringes of the law (hence the need for medical treatment outside of the system). Perhaps this is one such case.

 

I’ve always generally liked Joo-won, but I find myself appreciating him more with every role; he certainly throws himself all-in and commits. And of all the many genres he’s tried his hand at, I do really enjoy him in the dark action role best. I was nervous when the drama switched out the God’s Gift—14 Days PD for a director with much lighter credits (PD Oh Jin-seok did Modern Farmer, Lovers in Paris, and Lovers in Prague) but these stills capture my interest, and I’m trusting that writer Jang Hyuk-rin of Reset will bring the darker edge.

Yong-pal held its script reading at the end of June, and below are some photos from that gathering of its principal cast, which also includes Kim Tae-hee as the heiress kept in a coma by her enemies, Jo Hyun-jae as a chaebol villain, Chae Jung-ahn as his wife, and Jung Woong-in as a surgeon with questionable ethics. 

The drama will premiere on August 5 as SBS’s next Wednesday-Thursday series.

So, Rain reconfirmed his new album and concert tour plan in the winter? With that and his DL running at the same time, I bet you and his other fans won’t miss him at all. 

TY is one of the very popular C-actresses, who is well known outside China, where C-movies/dramas are well accepted. Rain himself is very popular in and out of China. The second male lead is well known whereas the second female lead is creating a name for herself. That’s a strong cast. The director established his record with the popular Fated to Love You. That’s a strong start for DL!

The Kim Tae Hee Chemistry Machine strikes again. The first teaser for upcoming SBS drama Yong Pal looks more like a TV commercial but darn… I feel the inklings of chemistry between she and Joo Won, which means my interest in this drama just went a little higher. She says: “The best way to get out of a bad dream is to wake up from your sleep. But if you are unable to wake up, it becomes a nightmare.”  And may I say she looks freakin’ gorgeous in those few seconds.

[UPDATED] Rain Reportedly Returning With a New Album This Fall!

 

 

According to an exclusive report by Star News, singer-actor Rain will be returning to the music scene during the second half of this year.

On July 17, a music industry insider revealed that Rain is planning to make a comeback to the stage this coming fall. The release date for his new album is currently aimed for October. It is said that Rain and his agency are still in discussion over the exact comeback time frame.

Since releasing his double title tracks “30SEXY” and “LA SONG” from his sixth full-length album “RAIN EFFECT” in January of last year, Rain has not been active with new music.

 

UPDATE:

The star’s agency Cube Entertainment stated, “Although he has been consistently working on songs as a singer, there are no plans for him to make a comeback as a singer in October. He is currently looking for his next project as an actor and is coordinating overseas activities.”

Rain deny rumors of new Korean album release this October

 

 

CUBE Entertainment has stated that Rain has no plans for a music comeback in Korea this October, in response to media reports which stated otherwise.

Rain is believed to be reviewing offers for his next acting project at the moment, and will be pursuing activities in China in the short term. Thus, there are no plans for him to return to the Korean music scene for now.

Media reports had stated earlier today that Rain was going to return with a new album in Korea this October.

“Yong Pal” Releases First Intense and Emotional Teaser Featuring Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee

 

 

SBS has revealed the first teaser for their upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama “Yong Pal” featuring the dreamlike chemistry between leads Joo Wonand Kim Tae Hee.

Luring viewers into the unique storyline, the teaser shows Kim Tae Hee falling in an empty space while shedding tears. Then, Joo Won appears grabbing her hand and embracing her, thereby saving her from her free fall. The teaser definitely raises anticipation for how this teaser fits into the larger dynamic of the drama.

The pair’s chemistry is also leaving a favorable impression. The actress looks full of sorrow while the actor appears chic and masculine.

 

 

Meanwhile, “Yong Pal” tells the story of the meeting between a doctor who is desperate for money (Joo Won) and an heiress who is in a coma (Kim Tae Hee) and the resulting events. The first episode is slated to air on August 5 at 10 p.m. KST.

“YONG PAL” FIRST TEASER IS CAPTIVATINGLY DREAM-LIKE

 

 

Yong Pal won’t be out till August, but SBS is banking on a successful run by putting publicity for it into high gear.

A few days ago, the first teasers featuring Joo Won, who plays a black market doctor, had been released, and now, the first teaser is out.

In the drama, Kim Tae Hee plays an heiress who is put in a coma [by her brother], and the concept of this teaser takes a cue from this part of the narrative. In this dream-like teaser, our powerless heroine falls softly until Joo Won’s Kim Tae Hyun, a black market doctor, reaches out his hand to grab her. They hold each other and they seem to float/swim in a haze of blue atmosphere, its liquid-like quality perhaps represents her tears.

If the show’s as compelling as this teaser, then, SBS might just have a hit!

Upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs Drama Yongpal Releases Dramatic Teaser with Kim Tae Hee and Joo Won

 

 

Leave it to upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Yongpal (Korean title Yongpalyi) to jolt me awake. I don’t necessarily like the first teaser (still mulling it over), but it’s definitely dramatic and memorable, though KBS revenge thriller Shark did something very similar which takes points off Yongpal for originality. Currently airing doppleganger melodrama Mask remains the ratings leader in the time slot opposite vampire sageuk Scholar Who Walks the Night and just started political drama Assembly, which makes things easier for Yongpal when it premieres in a few weeks to hopefully hold onto the audience.

The first teaser includes only leads Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee, who narrates as a damsel in distress and finds herself “saved” by Joo Won. It all happens in slow motion with lots of pretty blue robe fluttering in the wind/water/whatever. These two actually look fantastic together, visually at least, but I still have no real clue what this drama is about beyond the description of him being a doctor who does illegal but highly profitable house calls while she’s an heiress stuck in a coma.

K-pop Star Rain Rumored Working on Comeback Album in October

 

 

Over the week, rumors surfaced about Korean singer-actor Rain's big comeback this year. Fans of the K-pop veteran quickly caught on and began speculating about the reported grand music comeback.

 

In a report by Soompi, an insider revealed that Rain and his agency were eyeing and working on a new album for release in October and that the K-pop star's stage comeback time frame is still being finalized.

 

However, as quick as speculations surfaced, Rain's agency was quick to dispel rumors, telling the entertainment site that the stories are untrue. According to Cube Entertainment, the singer-actor is looking at future projects as an actor and is currently in talks for overseas engagements.

 

 

 

"Although he has been consistently working on songs as a singer, there are no plans for him to make a comeback as a singer in October," a representative from Cube Entertainment clarified.

 

Rain's last album released in January 2014 entitled "Rain Effect" made waves across the Korean music scene. Before the album's release, Rain was away from the spotlight for four years, but he surprised his fans with his songs "30Sexy" and "La Song."

 

In a 2014 report by Billboard, the star's album was described as, "Reassuring fans and critics he hasn't missed a beat during his four-year absence from the spotlight."

 

It further added that "Rain Effect" was a move that "re-solidifies his position in the K-pop firmament." All 10 tracks in the album was co-written and co-composed by Rain.

 

Aside from his music, Rain also made headlines with reports that he was dating Korean actress Kim Tae-hee. In January 2013, the couple admitted they were seriously dating, Korea Times reported.

 

Last month, the Korean couple was spotted at a promotional event for "JVJQ," a Chinese cosmetics brand. This is the first time Tae-hee has appeared publicly with her boyfriend Rain.

Regarding numerous reports about Rain making a Korean comeback in October, his agency spoke up stating “There is no specific plan.”

Cube Entertainment‘s representative told Korean media outlet Osen on 17 July: “There is no specific plan. Currently it is considering a drama and movie as the next project. It is under these circumstances that he will continue his activities in China.”

I am drawn to Kim Tae Hee in Yong Pal's preview despite it being too dramatic for my taste. I cannot wait until the drama premieres, and hopefully Rain will make his comeback on the small screens soon.

"Yong-pal-yi" Kim Tae-hee shows charisma in new poster, but where's Joo Won?

 

 

 

 

The poster for the new SBS drama "Yong-pal-yi" was revealed. Kim Tae-hee playing the role of Yeo-jin looks like she's stuck in the scalpel knife and Joo Won in the role of Tae-hyeon is looking up from under. His shadow is actually made up of the credits of those who participated in the making of the drama.

Creative director Lee Dong-ho-I, from "Blade Man", "300" and the drama "Family Outing", worked on "Yong-pal-yi" to encourage director Oh Jin-seok.

A source says, "There will be another poster after this as anticipation for the actual drama rises".

Meanwhile, "Yong-pal-yi" is a melodrama about a doctor who would do anything for money, meeting an heiress who is asleep in his hospital. The first episode comes on the 5th of August.
