The Blade and Petal

About the Show

synopsis_20130626164942q84nXyTvuj.jpg

The blade symbolizes hatred while the flower represents love.  In this drama, love embraces hatred.

Through the two star-crossed lovers, destined to be sworn enemies due to their ancestors, it tells us the message "In spite of that love is to forgive once more."

Goguryo in the year 642

Yeon Gaesomoon holds the reins of power by coup and beheaded King Youngryu.
Why did hecommit such radical act as throwing the dead body of King Youngryu into a ditch?
King Youngryu and Yeon Gaesomoon are mortal enemies trying to kill each other constantly, but both loves Goguryo impassionedly in their own way.  However, they had different views and philosophy on managing their country unfortunately.

The Blade and Petal is a tragic epic based on historical fact Yeon Gaesomoon's coup in 642 and it features love, revenge and challenge by the male and female protagonists-the two fictitious characters Moo-young, daughter of King Youngryu, and bastard son of Yeon Gesomoon - who tries to change the stream of history during the crisis period of Goguryo.

By depicting the situation at the time when Goguryo was on the brink of collapse, "The Blade and Petal" implies to us the way we live now as members of Northeastern Asia, as it overcomes the history of excessive heroic hegemony shown in the previous periodical dramas.
