Actors Lee Sang-yeop and Kim Sohye meet in "Pure Boxer".

KBS 2TV drama "Pure Boxer" is about genius boxer Lee Kwon-sook (Kim Sohye). Ahead of the Grand Slam, she meets Kim Tae-yeong (Lee Sang-yeob), a sports agent, and faces an inflection point in her life. Tae-yeong approaches Kwon-sook for the special pitcher Kim Hee-won. He is human scum that attracts talented players, use them up to the maximum in a short amount of time and retires them. He won't blink an eye when it comes to the player's spirit and money.
 

It is based on the novel "Pure Boxer Lee Kwon-sook", which is written by Kim Dong-nam. It is the second award-winning work of Kyobo Bookstore's story contest. It will be made by Choi Sang-yeol, director of the "Drama Special 2021 - Hee-soo" (2021) and Kim Min-joo-IV, writer of "Clear Tomorrow" (2017). It will broadcast in the first half of next year.

What someone needs to do is put the instagram voting on sangyeob's instagram page so his fans can vote too.  I have no idea how to do that.  I can't even open an instagram account.

Lee Sang Yeob and Apink’s Jung Eun Ji might star in a new drama together!

 

On April 4, an industry insider shared the casting news of Lee Sang Yeob and Jung Eun Ji as the main characters for the new drama “Genie, Earth” (literal title).

 

In response to the report, Lee Sang Yeob’s agency UB Management and Jung Eun Ji’s agency IST Entertainment each remarked that they are reviewing the offers to star in the drama.

 

“Genie, Earth” is a fantasy rom-com action drama that depicts the story of former prosecutor Gyu Tae, who accidentally gains supernatural power from extraterrestrial substances, fighting against the evil forces that try to rule the world.

 

Lee Sang Yeob has been offered the male lead role of Oh Gyu Tae, a former prosecutor who is currently unemployed. His desperate life turns upside down as he comes to communicate with an unknown being.

 

Jung Eun Ji is in talks to play the female lead Yoo Ye Joo, a former instructor of the special forces counterterrorism unit who tries to save the world with Oh Gyu Tae.

 

The project will be the first drama by director Heo Jong Ho, who helmed the films “Countdown,” “The Advocate: A Missing Body,” and “Monstrum,” and writer Park Hee Gang of the drama “Possessed” will be in charge of scriptwriting. The broadcasting schedule is yet to be decided.

KBS2’s upcoming drama “Pure Boxer” (literal title) has dropped a new poster!

 

“Pure Boxer” is a sports drama based on the novel “Pure Boxer Lee Kwon Sook” written by Choo Jong Nam, the winner of the second Kyobo Bookstore Story Contest. It is a story about genius boxer Lee Kwon Sook (Kim So Hye) and a cold-blooded agent who doesn’t feel guilty of match-fixing for money and the success of his athletes.

 

The newly released poster depicts an empty boxing ring where there are only boxing gloves and a sprinkle donut with a bite mark that seem to have been left by someone in a rush.

On top of this mysterious atmosphere, the text that reads, “Where did the genius boxer disappear to?” makes viewers curious to find out about the story behind the missing genius boxer Lee Kwon Sook and whether she can safely return to the boxing ring.

 

Kim So Hye will play Lee Kwon Sook, a genius boxer who emerged as a boxing star at the age of 17. Lee Kwon Sook, who disappeared right before achieving the Grand Slam, was living a new life, but when she meets the evil agent Kim Tae Young, she faces a new turning point.

 

Lee Sang Yeob will take on the role of Kim Tae Young, an S&P Sports agent who coaxes talented athletes and retires them in a short period of time after taking the lion’s share. Kim Tae Young approaches Lee Kwon Sook, who disappeared three years ago for top pitcher Kim Hee Won.

Drama Reported To Star Lee Sang Yeob And Apink’s Jung Eun Ji Denies Rumors Of Cancellation

 

Upcoming drama “Genie, Earth” (literal title) has denied reports of production on the show being halted.

 

On June 20, StarNews reported that the drama “Genie, Earth” had recently been cancelled while still in pre-production. Described as a fantasy rom-com action drama, “Genie, Earth” was previously reported to star Lee Sang Yeob and Apink’s Jung Eun Ji, both of whom confirmed back in April that they were in talks to play the leading roles.

 

However, later that same day, the producers of “Genie, Earth” denied the cancellation rumors. The production team told news outlet OSEN, “There was an article published about production falling apart, but it isn’t true. We are currently in the process of negotiating the broadcast programming.”

 

They went on to elaborate, “It’s true that we originally planned to negotiate broadcast programming for the drama after it was filmed as a pre-produced series. But there was a change in the investment schedule, and so we wound up negotiating the broadcast programming first.”

 

“However, that doesn’t mean that production has been cancelled,” they continued. “From the cast to the crew, everyone is waiting together for filming to begin.”

 

The producers concluded, “We are currently in the process of negotiating so that production can proceed quickly. We are also in the midst of a broad range of discussions regarding programming, and we are making efforts to begin filming [as soon as possible].”

 

“Genie, Earth” will tell the story of a former prosecutor who accidentally develops superpowers after coming into contact with an extraterrestrial substance. Together with a former special forces counterterrorism unit instructor, he sets out to save the world from evil forces who seek to take over the planet.
