Various Korean Actors Will Go Head-To-Head In Theaters This Summer

By Joanne+ | dramafever

user posted image

Get ready! This summer, multiple movies starring Korean actors are going to be released at about the same time, going head-to-head. Here’s a roundup of a few of them:

First off, Ha Jung Woo will star in the film The Terror Live, playing the role of a news anchor, Yoon Young Hwa, who receives a threatening call from a terrorist during a live broadcast stating, “Will bomb Han River’s Mapo Bridge.” The film then plunges headlong into multiple breath-taking head-to-head combat scenes.

Next, in the film Cold Eyes, surveillance experts will try to track down a trace-less organized crime, with Jung Woo Sung taking on the role of cold and secretive criminal James. The actor will attempt to brush off his soft image and delve into his first villainous role, battling with Sul Kyung Kyu, who plays the chief detective.

Also, fresh off the success of the Hollywood blockbuster G.I. Joe, actor Lee Byung Hun will continue his Hollywood adventure, this time as a simple yet strongly obsessed killer named Han in Red: The Legend, where the CIA agent “R.E.D.” returns ten years after retiring in order to take out deadly weapon called “Night Shadow.”

Lastly, the film Snow Piercer, which takes place during an ice age, on a train in which the last human survivors are riding, during an unstoppable rebellion. Reuniting once again with director Bong Jun Ho, actor Song Kang Ho plays the role of Nam Goong Min Soo, who is the train’s security specialist. It’s a rough and strong character, which we haven’t seen for a long time from the actor.

There are high expectations for the prideful head-to-head combat of Korea’s representative stars both in name and reality. It’ll be hard to choose just one film to see — we might check them all out!

Junho, member of boy band 2PM, has made a promising debut on the big screen with “Cold Eyes.”

The 23-year-old star showed potential to be the next movie star by portraying his character well enough to have substantial presence in the film despite its star-studded cast of Seol Kyung-gu, Jung Woo-sung, and Han Hyo-joo, the press preview in Seoul on Wednesday revealed.

In the film, Junho plays an ace detective nicknamed Squirrel whose job is to assist chief detective Mr. Hwang (Seol)with newbie detective Hah Yun-ju (Han), while struggling to arrest a targeted criminal called Shadow (Jung).

During a press conference after the preview, the idol star spoke of his experience of working with Korea’s biggest actors.

“I want to be as humane as Seol Kyung-gu, as professional as Jung Woo-sung and look as good as Han Hyo-joo on the screen,” said Lee when asked what he wants to learn from his critically acclaimed co-stars.

He went on to express his passion about his debut thriller pic. “I learned so much just by watching the others acting and breathing on the set. The directors, cast and staff took great care of me and  taught me everything so kindly that all I needed to do was focus on their advice. It was such a good film and a valuable time for me.”

“Since this is my first film, every scene is very precious and memorable to me. The movie will draw in viewers with the strong tension that is created by the unique and refreshing,” Junho added.

The movie itself was straightforward, focusing purely on the well-organized confrontation between a special surveillance task force in the police and a mythical criminal. It also delivered the action, style and excitement that the audience expect from the star-studded film.

Co-directed by Cho Ui-seok of 2002 comedy film “Make It Big” and skilled cinematographer Kim Byeong-seo, the 118-minute stylish crime movie is slated to open in local theaters on July 4.

2PM′s Junho Says He′s Really Nervous about His Role in ′Cold Eyes′

By An So Hyoun | enewsWorldTranslation: Erica Kim

2PM′s Junho said he was more nervous for his first big screen role than for his first Tokyo Dome concert.
The singer attended the media day event for the film Cold Eyes held on June 19, and said, "I was so nervous. I was more nervous than I was for my Tokyo Dome concert."

In Cold Eyes, which is about a police surveillance force and a criminal organization, Junho appears as the police′s ace member Squirrel. Even amidst such big names as Sul Kyung Gu, Jung Woo Sung and Han Hyo Joo, Junho managed to stand out with his steadfast acting.
He said, "Someone from my agency asked me whether I would be interested in this scenario, so I read it, and it was great. I auditioned for it twice while I had my arm in a cast. A lot of my concerts were scheduled for the same time as the shoots, but still I really wanted to be in the film."
He added, "I′m a real rookie in the actor realm. I′ll work hard regardless of how much screen time my role gets. This year I′ll release my solo album in Japan, and near the end of the year I want to act in another good piece."
Junho was enthusiastic enough to even attend the technical preview, which took place early in the morning at 5 a.m., before the press preview. Officials who had been there said that he had been so nervous he was soaked with sweat.
"I just wanted to watch the movie," Junho said. "I was watching my seniors act during the technical preview, but then I appeared and I didn′t seem to fit in. I was so worried. I′ve been comforted now because so many people from the press preview have praised me. I was thankful just to be acting with my seniors."
Director Jo Ui Seok said about Junho′s acting, "I was looking for a rookie who could fit the role, and I happened to come across Junho. It is true I was prejudiced against him because he is an idol. He, however, made me trust him after the audition, and he was good, and that′s how he made it into the film. His status as an idol would′ve been more of a burden to him."
Cold Eyes will premiere on July 4.

Korean actors Junho of 2PM, Jung Woo-sung and Han Hyo-joo joined in a race with and against SBS’s “Running Man” that will show this weekend.

During the media event for their new movie “Cold Eyes” at a pub in eastern Seoul on Wednesday night, the three said they much enjoyed filming the popular variety show last week.

“I may not appear in the show that much because I was so into turning off the surveillance cameras. And Jung Woo-sung was everywhere,” said Junho about their recording that incorporated the theme of their movie that tracks down a criminal through surveillance cameras.

The film’s heroin Han added, “My body ached for a week from the one-day shoot. I was exhausted after the race so that make me look up to the regular cast of ‘Running Man.’ They are amazing, especially Yoo Jae-suk, because he is the one that set an example and made the guests keep ‘running.’”

The three, whose crime action film is set to open in theaters on July 4, are set to make guest appearances on the TV show for two week starting this Sunday night at 6:10 p.m. Korea time.

2PM Joon-Ho, what’s the reason to making his appearance on movie secret?

Source: innolife.co.kr
6284_1.jpgThere was a media day of movie ‘Observers’ held at a pub in Seoul Wangshipri on June 19. Previously, after the first screening of the movie at Wangshipri CGV, leading actor Jeong Woo-Seong, Seol Gyeong-Goo, Han Hyo-Joo, Lee Joon-Ho and director Jo Ui-Seok and Kim Byeong-Seo talked about the movie. 2PM’s member Lee Joon-Ho, who has made his first appearance on screen with this movie, said, “I wanted to appear on ‘Observers’ when I read the scenario. I know that many rookie actors wanted the role I got, so I wanted even more.” Even though he had a credit in that he is a member of popular idol group, he had an acting audition to get the role. But Lee Joon-Ho didn’t tell about his appearance on the movie a lot while he was casted and working with the movie. He said, “It’s because I was worried of ruining the movie with my mistake or having actor of my role changed.. So I told people that I’m appearing on the movie after the premiere date was set. And I didn’t forget to mention them that I appear on the movie for a short time.” Movie ‘Observers’ is about observe professionals who are chasing after a crime organization without trace. class="cb b15" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 15px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; clear: both; "Singer-Actor Lee Junho Has No Reason To Be NervousBy Joan MacDonald | kdramastars
lee-junho.jpg?w=600

It has taken Lee Junho a while to follow his fellow 2PM band members into the world of acting, which is surprising when you consider that he majored in acting at Howon University. The youngest member of 2PM made his debut into show business when he won "Superstar Survival" six years ago.

Since he signed on with the band, fellow band member Taecyeon has appeared in "Cinderella's Sister, "Dream High" and now has a leading role in "Who Are You?" Band mate Chansung made his debut in "Level 7 Civil Servant." Wooyoung played Jason in "Dream High."

Although Junho has appeared on several variety and reality shows, this year, he finally got the chance to appear in the film "Cold Eyes" and show off his acting skills. He was nervous about his performance, he said, even more nervous than when he performed with 2PM at a Tokyo Dome concert.

"I'm a rookie actor," he said.

That's exactly what director Jo Ui Seok was looking for.

"I wanted a rookie actor who could fit the role, and I happened to come across Junho," said Jo. "At first I was prejudiced against him because he is an idol. He, however, made me trust him after the audition, and he was good, and that is how he made it into the film."

The movie is about a police surveillance force and he plays a good-humored detective with the nicknamed Squirrel. Even alongside veteran co-stars such as Sul Kyung Gu, Jung Woo Sung and Han Hyo Joo, his work was noticed.

Actress Han Hyo Joo complimented Junho's work in the film, saying that she loved acting with him.

"I didn't believe it when he said it was his first movie," said Han Hyo Joo. "You will be surprised when you see the movie."

He was so nervous watching the film previews that he broke out in a cold sweat.

"I just wanted to watch the movie," he said. "After watching the other actors, when I appeared, I felt as if I didn't fit in. I was so worried. Fortunately, I was reassured because so many people from the press preview praised me."

Junho was complimented for his performance, which was said to energize the film.

His solo singing and composing career has made him a star in China and Japan. Not to worry, Junho. If you don't feel satisfied with your film performance, you can always go back to your "day job," being a composer and an international idol. But so far, so good.
