“The Killing Vote” Premieres To Strong Ratings As “Longing For You” Rises To New All-Time High

SBS’s “The Killing Vote” is off to a promising start!

On August 10, the new action thriller starring Park Hae Jin, Lim Ji Yeon, and Park Sung Woong aired its highly-anticipated premiere. Although “The Killing Vote” was originally scheduled to air its first two episodes starting at 9 p.m. KST, there was a change in the programming schedule due to a special report on Typhoon Khanun—and so “The Killing Vote” wound up airing only its first episode at 10:10 p.m. instead.

Despite the sudden change in its broadcast schedule, “The Killing Vote” still managed to get off to a relatively strong start: according to Nielsen Korea, the drama’s first episode scored an average nationwide rating of 4.1 percent.

Park Sung Woong Is A Criminal Who Has A Close Relationship With Park Hae Jin In “The Killing Vote”

Park Sung Woong Is A Criminal Who Has A Close Relationship With Park Hae Jin In “The Killing Vote”

“The Killing Vote” has shared new stills of Park Hae Jin And Park Sung Woong!

Based on a popular webtoon, “The Killing Vote” asks the question “What is your idea of justice?” and delves into the concept of a nationwide death penalty vote against vicious criminals who deftly manage to escape the law’s blind spots. The drama highlights the story of a mysterious figure known as “Gae Tal” (dog mask), who executes the death penalty depending on the results of a vote, and the police who are pursuing them.

Park Hae Jin plays Kim Moo Chan, the head of Team 1 of the regional investigation unit at the Southern Provincial Police Agency. Lim Ji Yeon plays the role of Joo Hyun, a fifth-year lieutenant at the Cyber Security Bureau of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Park Sung Woong stars as Kwon Suk Joo, a long-term prison inmate who turned himself in after personally killing the culprit who sexually assaulted his eight-year-old daughter.

Spoilers

Eight years ago, when the person who killed kwon Suk Joo’s daughter was released from prison due to insufficient evidence, Kwon Suk Joo tracked him down and personally killed him. Kim Moo Chan witnessed Kwon Suk Joo killing his daughter’s murderer. However, Kim Moo Chan addressed Kwon Suk Joo as hyung, which showed that they had a close relationship.

During his trial, Kwon Suk Joo uttered the words “innocent demon” in court, so when Joo Hyun hears the words “innocent demon” in Gae Tal’s video, she goes to Moo Chan, who was the detective in charge of the case at that time. Joo Hyun told Moo Chan that Kwon Suk Joo is the culprit behind the national death penalty vote case, leaving Moo Chan baffled.

In the released stills, Kwon Suk Joo is dressed in his prison uniform and standing in court as a defendant. Kim Moo Chan is captured with a confused facial expression as he watches Kwon Suk Joo from behind.

The stills draw curiosity for why Kim Moo Chan addressed Kwon Suk Joo as hyung and why he looked bewildered when Joo Hyun said the words “innocent demon.”

The production team of “The Killing Vote” commented, “In the second episode which will air on August 17, clues about the connection between Kim Moo Chan and Kwon Suk Joo will begin to emerge little by little. The solid and powerful performances of Park Hae Jin and Park Sung Woong will intensify the viewers’ curiosity and immersion in the drama. Please show lots of anticipation and interest.”

The next episode of “The Killing Vote” will air on August 17 at 9 p.m. KST.

Park Hae Jin, Park Sung Woong, And Lim Ji Yeon Try To Solve A National Death Penalty Vote Case In “The Killing Vote”

Park Hae Jin, Park Sung Woong, And Lim Ji Yeon Try To Solve A National Death Penalty Vote Case In “The Killing Vote”

“The Killing Vote” has shared new stills from its upcoming episode!

Spoilers

Previously in “The Killing Vote,” it was revealed that there was more than one person behind the death penalty vote. Lee Min Soo (Kim Kwon) was suspected of being the ringleader after he was identified as Kwon Suk Joo’s “No. 1” fan. It was also revealed that high school student Kim Ji Hoon (Seo Young Joo) was almost adopted by Kwon Suk Joo in the past.

The team investigating the national death penalty vote including Kwon Suk Joo and police officers Kim Moo Chan and Joo Hyun is focusing their investigations on Lee Min Soo and keeping a close eye on him. Also, Jung Jin Wook (Lee Wan), who executed the death penalty based on the results of the death penalty vote, was arrested.

With Lee Min Soo and Jung Jin Wook, the top two suspects in the case, under police investigation, it is expected that it will be hard for a fourth death penalty vote case to occur.

However, on October 10, the production team of “The Killing Vote” shared a sneak peek of the upcoming eighth episode, revealing that a fourth national death penalty case will occur even though Lee Min Soo and Jung Jin Wook are under police surveillance. They also revealed that the fourth national death penalty case is completely different from the first, second, and third national death penalty cases.

Following the production team’s spoilers, viewers are curious about how the fourth death penalty vote will occur while the police are investigating the top two suspects, Lee Min Soo and Jung Jin Wook, and wondering if this means that Lee Min Soo isn’t the “No. 1” fan and ringleader as earlier suspected. Viewers are also curious about who the target of the fourth national death penalty vote will be and if the police will be able to catch the real “dog mask.”

With all the three previous targets of the death penalty vote successful executed, it remains to be seen if the target of the fourth death penalty vote can be saved.

The drama follows the story of a mysterious figure known as Dog Mask, who executes the death penalty depending on the results of a vote, and the police who are pursuing them.

In the last episode, police officers Kim Moo Chan and Joo Hyun caught Kwon Suk Joo and Kim Ji Hoon respectively. Eight years ago. However, when he found out that his No. 1 fan, Lee Min Soo (Kim Kwon), was an accomplice in his daughter’s murder, he came up with the idea for the death penalty vote while in prison.

While Kwon Suk Joo is the mastermind behind the death penalty vote, Kim Ji Hoon is actually the one who created its voting system and coordinated the Dog Mask group. Kim Ji Hoon, whose identity was a mystery and was referred to by the police as “Unknown X,” is also friends with Joo Hyun’s younger sister, Joo Min (Kwon Ah Reum).

Meanwhile, Kwon Suk Joo escaped from the National Police Agency and began his revenge against Lee Min Soo, trying to execute Lee him by putting him up as a candidate for the national death penalty vote. But just as he was about to execute Lee Min Soo, Kim Moo Chan rushed in and did his best to save Lee Min Soo. At the same time, Joo Hyun found the hideout of Kim Ji Hoon, who was operating the national death penalty voting system.

In the newly released stills, Kim Moo Chan is captured leaving the scene of the incident, while Kwon Suk Joo is led out by a police officer with his hands tied tightly. Kim Moo Chan and Kwon Suk Joo then board the same vehicle.
