Kim Rae Won to return to small screen through 'Doctors' with Park Shin Hye?

Before talking about casting, can they just decide on one name?  SBS seemingly has returned to calling their upcoming project 'Doctors' after, at one point, referring to it as 'Female Thug Hye Jung.'  Previously, two actresses were revealed to possibly be joining the new medical series: Park Shin Hye and Lee Sung Kyung.  Neither have yet confirmed, but now there is a male star who is also up to possibly join the project.

 

Veteran actor Kim Rae Won was revealed to possibly be making his small screen comeback through the series.  On March 15, his side stated, "It is true that we received the synopsis from the production crew for 'Doctors.'  However, he is not confirmed for appearance.  He only received the offer.  There needs to be more in-depth discussion over it.  He had not even properly reviewed the synopsis.  We plan to discuss his casting at a later time."

The production company, Pen Entertainment, likewise said, "We did indeed hand over the synopsis to Kim Rae Won, but we have not yet talked in detail about his casting. If he is casted later on, we will let you know."

Previously, a report had said he was confirmed for the part of the male lead named Hong Ji Hong.  SBS plans to air the drama following 'Daebak' in the middle of June sometime.

irilight, thanks for sharing more news about this upcoming drama. I prefer this title now "Doctors" (formerly Female Gangster Hye Jung). I like this new title if the drama is about a group of doctors rather than focused solely on the main character.  And I don't think this will be female centric. KRW will surely get bigger part. And I want a meatier role for KRW.

Hi maria, I heard that KRW is considering the upcoming drama but his side clarified that he hasn't considered it in depth yet. If Kim Rae Won accepts, he would play an affable and talented neurosurgery specialist here.

maria, ye, as far as I know this will be his 1st time to play the character of a doctor. I’m happy to see  KRW again on my small screen in case he takes this. I just hope it has good script for him…

Yes , this is the reason why i believe if he accepts the part ...is because is a good script . I trust his decision .Maybe even this is the reason why he had a movie after another movie and not a drama ... he didn't find a good script . Maybe this time ... this time will be the time . And i can see him as a briliant doctor . Well ...actually , i can see him like anything  if i think about what job will suit him .

Hi maria, ye, I'm sure he knows what's good for his career. So, whatever his decisions are I will always support him. But, I really want him to do another drama this time after doing (2) movies. I couldn't agree with you more - I guess he didn't find a good script for drama the reason why he has been busy doing movies these days. Well, KRW is a good actor.

Kim Rae Won considers lead opposite Park Shin Hye in Doctors

Well, well, well, this is an interesting casting development! Kim Rae Won has an offer to take the male lead in upcoming SBS drama Doctors, opposite potential female lead Park Shin Hye.

 

Doctors (which used to go by the much more interesting title Female Gangster Hye Jung) revolves around neurosurgery fellow Hye Jung (Park Shin Hye, if she accepts). She grows up with a gangster-like personality after a tough childhood, and she doesn't trust other people easily.

If Kim Rae Won accepts, he would play an affable and talented neurosurgery specialist. Now, before someone inevitably brings up age, let me do the math for you. There's an 8-year gap between Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won, so it's not that big of a deal. While Kim Rae Won's agency confirmed that the actor had received an offer, they also clarified that he hasn't considered it in depth yet.

Rounding out the group of possibly-maybe-but-not-confirmed cast members is Cheese in the Trap's Lee Sung Kyung. She's up for the role of Hye Jung's former classmate and neurosurgery rival. She comes from a wealthy family and has a bright personality until the loss of her love turns her bitter and vengeful.

At this point, Doctors could end up with all of these cast members or none of them. This certainly isn't the most obvious pairing in the world, but maybe that's a good thing! What do you think? Should they all accept? If not, who would you cast instead? Share your thoughts in the comments!

The script sounds interesting . It can materialise in a great drama , depends of how well is write .  We will see ... Once again i trust our sweet Prince and his choice . Even if he will not gona be the center of the drama ... he will be a very important part of it , i hope , guess ....

Hello to all of you guys who loves Kim Rae won *waves* I'm Rori and I've been checking your warm exchanges and updates in this lovely thread 

I've come to know KRW thru My Love Pattzi wayback 2003 and since then I believed he's a competent and sexy actor. My Little Bride & Love Story in Harvard are among my favorites but My Love Pattzi holds a special place in my heart  of which you guys did some throwback not long ago. You put a big   on my face.

I've haven't seen in between drama/film of his. I really wanted to see Attic Cat and Punch lately. 

I'm not too keen with Doctors before but upon knowing my two favorites, Park Shin Hye & Kim Rae Won possibly starring in it, now I'm excited & hopeful. Both have been quite long in the business and stands their ground up to this moment. Whatever their decision will be, I will support them.

@rori0711 Welcome to Kim Rae-Won thread.   .   I guess we were channeling for you "My Love Patzzi...?"   I think our dear @only*rae won* is a lady of great intuition!

I do recommend both Punch and Attic Cat.   They are very different drama. Attic Cat is light and sweet. I can't even think how many times I have watched it.  Most recent drama "Punch" is more of a heavy-weight legal drama. I loved the reunion of Kim Rae-Won and Jo Jae-Hyeon in it (They were together in Snowman aka Snowflakes (2003). They are both such amazing actors and work so well together. Also, the amazing love story in it touched my heart.  I don't want to say more, so as not to spoil it for you.

I hope you are all fine! Prepare yourself for a long post of mine (my first). You don't have to read all (actually I advise you not to) bcs it will be is boring, but I've got a lot on my mind now which I would like to ventilate..

But first of , a late

I hope he had a nice day, ate seaweed soup, spent some lovely time with this family/friends/loved ones. I hope he wasn't working?

Then here goes my long writing..

I'm even worse than yumenas, I've been lurking in this thread for all the time I so called was not present, which means I wasn't absent at all, I just didn't have anything to say. Which is why it all comes out now ;-) The past few weeks (months) I read the posts about him working on the 2 movies (I keep mixing both and forgetting is this the “jail/prosecutor” movie or the “ghost/ressurection” movie? and changing the title now and then is confusing!), so he was working and OK, that's it. BUT --> thank you all for the posts, at least I got to read about him sometimes, even just a little. So today I see one of the 2 (again, forgot which one) movies will be playing in July? OK, nice, we got a date!

I like this last picture of Instagram yumenas has posted: I like his hair down like that, and I hope he has gained some weight. In Punch, for me, he was too skinny. He is tall, so he doesn't need to be that light weighted. It is funny, I'm watching Punch at the moment, and he even said his weight: it was (if I can calculate, and I can't, so help me), well his daughter said she's 23kg and he said together they are 100 kg, which means he is only 77 kg? With his height (above 1m80?) that is not enough, especially for a man. So euh I hope he's more now :-) Oh gosh, I'm really in a rambling mode today, I apologize upfront!

So yes, I am watching Punch only now... :-( I should be ashamed, I know, and I am, but I better be honest about it. Why have I been putting this off so long? Idk One of the reasons I think is bcs I can't look at KRW like I do with any other actor, even if I also like that actor a lot, and he's very handsome and popular and all that. KRW is always that bit more special to me, so I'm constantly analyzing every facial expression, sound, move, what is he wearing etc? It is exhausting for the mind, and not very helpful if you're just trying to watch a drama (and trying to follow the complicated story Punch has). But this is my problem, I'm crazy I know.

Watching Punch I love him seeing as a dad, how a wonderful father he would be! It is so obvious. So I hope he will find the mother of his child(ren) soon (if he hasn't already). It is really utterly sweet seeing him as a dad, I am flustered.

I do still have to watch ATDP, but bcs the focus is more on the female lead, I have been putting this off also. And as for his older works: it doesn't matter who it is about or what, in general, I'm not so much into older stuff. This is also just being crazy me (retro doesn't do it for me). So I don't think I will be watching those. I'm already satisfied seeing you – the real Rae Won'ers- mesmerize over it and even posting pics about it, awesome

So then this news about him playing in a medical drama maybe in June? Like, wow!!, I really missed the boat about this one. 1 full page here in this thread in 1 week (a record this year :)) Again, thank you all for posting all the articles, your comments, etc. I try to follow a bit the drama news, but I missed this completely. Good thing I'm lurking in this thread once a week ;-) So yeah, I was surprised to see PSH would be in it, but I don't really care who is playing next to our Prince, as long as we get to see him on the little screen, I'm very happy! Of course, I hope it will be a good drama, well-written, well-acted and all that, but as maria1983 says, I'm sure KRW will make a good decision and knows if it will be worth it or not.

At this day, no confirmation yet, so I don't want to speculate more about it, in case he refuses and I will have my hopes up already too high. As you know, I'm still relatively new in this k-world, so I've still a lot to learn, and don't understand enough about one day the new drama announcement, and then script-reading, filming starts, press conference and before you know it the drama is airing on TV.. it surprises me :-) and for the movies, I even have less an idea. If he is stil working on the 2 movies now, how can he do a drama on top of that too and euh hello personal life? Marriage? Fatherhood? :-) sorry if I'm being stupid and ignorant about this, I really have no idea how the world of an actor works, so my thoughts are probably nonsense..

So time for me to stop now.
