Kyo reposted KHS story.

A really good article on Kyo.

Song Hye-kyo, the protagonist of 'The Glory', won the global charts in her first OTT challenge. A national treasure actor who has been with the Korean wave since the beginning.

sweet, or sad. She was Song Hye-kyo, who thought only melodrama was possible. She is different this time. Song Hye-kyo's expressionless face shows only bitterness instead of sweetness. In <The Glory>, Moon-dong is himself.

Netflix's <The Glory> tells the story of a woman whose soul was ruined by violence in her childhood, who meticulously seeks revenge by risking her entire life. Although it attracted a lot of attention in that it was the first genre work by Kim Eun-sook, who is called a 'romance craftsman', it was Song Hye-kyo, who was at the center of the story, who completed this dark and desperate revenge play. In this work, after Song Hye-kyo suffered from terrible bullying in high school, she transforms into 'Moon Dong-eun' who takes elaborate revenge, putting down all her beauty and loveliness and taking up her sword of revenge.

The level of abusive behavior in <The Glory> is too cruel to be dismissed as just something that could happen between students. Because of that, the viciousness of the group of perpetrators who created this horrific scene of violence reaches its peak. As they grow into adults, the viciousness of the perpetrators turns into shamelessness, and the viciousness and shamelessness of these characters provide a great opportunity for the actors who play the role to show off their charm as actors.

On the other hand, Dong-eun, played by Song Hye-kyo, takes on a different color alone. He slowly walks among the group of assailants with a calm expression without a big emotional change. In this way, Dongeun proceeds to the sacred ceremony at her own pace and in her own way. “Young Dong-eun gets hurt in a defenseless state, but after that, Dong-eun, who prepared for revenge for a long time, had the idea of showing ‘I have become this hard and I can punish you,’” Song Hye-kyo’s character interpretation is an arbitrary and vicious character. It reveals a heavy presence alone in the middle. The world of the perpetrators, which had been covered in colorful colors, turns darker with the appearance of Dong-eun.

Because she met a character who restrains her emotions, the only means for Song Hye-kyo to show Dong-eun's emotions are very subtle facial expressions, voice, and speed of speech. However, Dong-eun's will to go straight for her revenge was persuaded by Song Hye-kyo's narration, which maintains a steady sense of speed and heavy tone, and made viewers willingly cheer for Dong-eun's revenge play even in a horrific story that they do not want to believe is reality.

Viewers following Dong-eun's revenge are not unique to Korea. Upon its release at the end of last year, <The Glory> went straight to the global Netflix popularity chart, and as of the 6th, it ranked third in the Netflix TV series non-English category, continuing the hot K-content craze.

'Hallyu' and 'K-content craze' have become common expressions now. At the beginning, there was Song Hye-kyo. It is through the KBS drama <Autumn in My Heart>, which aired in 2000. At the time, viewers showed more concern than support for Song Hye-kyo, who played the terminally ill heroine in her first lead role. It is because her previous work was only a child role of her immature child or a supporting character exuding her erratic charm. However, with the start of the drama, evaluations of “Song Hye-kyo’s rediscovery” poured in, and <Autumn in My Heart> emerged as the main character of the first-generation Hallyu craze. Song Hye-kyo is also beginning to receive attention from around the world. She was the moment when the 'Queen of Ratings' was born. At the time, <Autumn in My Heart> recorded an audience rating of 42%, and KBS dramas have not been released until now in their 23rd year.

The SBS drama <All In>, which aired in 2003, also had an average viewer rating of close to 40%. At that time, Song Hye-kyo transformed into a casino dealer 'Soo-yeon' and drew a romance with 'In-ha' (Lee Byung-hun), causing an 'all-in syndrome'. The following year, in <Full House>, she transformed into web novelist 'Ji-eun' and portrayed a bright and bold character. <Full House> was exported all over the world and recorded an audience rating of 63% in Thailand, continuing the Hallyu craze in Southeast Asia.

Since then, Song Hye-kyo has focused on film and overseas activities. She drew attention after meeting Yoo Ji-tae, and even after the box office failure of the movie <Hwang Jin-yi>, she continued to appear in Chinese films such as <One Great Prince> and <I Am a Queen>, filling her filmography with various works.

And in 2016, she regained the title of 'Queen of Viewership' again. <Descendants of the Sun> is the first meeting with writer Kim Eun-sook, who wrote <The Glory>. Song Hye-kyo transformed into 'Kang Mo-yeon', a thoracic surgeon, in this drama and completed her dazzling growth-type character. <Descendants of the Sun> is highly praised for notifying the revival of terrestrial dramas, which were in a period of stagnation at the time.

Elle Korea article:

Song Hye-kyo graced the cover of the February issue of the fashion magazine <Elle>. The pictorial focused on Song Hye-kyo's everyday and fashionable mood like her Fendi ambassador at the same time.

After the photo shoot, an interview was held. Song Hye-kyo, who recently succeeded in showing a new face as an actress in the role of Moon Dong-eun in the Netflix original <The Glory>, said, “Dong-eun had many three-dimensional situations in which she expressed emotions. She felt a sense of exhilaration as she felt emotions she had never experienced before. When she finished the difficult scene, she went into the dorm and lay down, she was so happy,” she said, revealing her satisfaction. “‘The Glory’ part 2 has more things coming out. She will have more fun,” she added, not forgetting to build anticipation.

Song Hye-kyo, who did not monitor much during filming for fear of acting out of a box, said, “I am satisfied that she looks like Moon Dong-eun.” . A person determined to take revenge might gain weight, but I thought that it would be more pleasurable if the perpetrators were beaten by a person with a small appearance that would make them think, 'What's a kid like that afraid of?' Originally, she didn't want to change her clothes anymore, but since her job is a teacher in front of children, she should be neat and tidy,” she replied, showing a professional side. When asked what color the world Song Hye-kyo sees now is, she replied, “It is white. She has finished her work well, she is relieved, she is resting, she is happy and comfortable without worrying about anything without preparation.”

Song Hye Kyo mentioned that she did not monitor her scenes much while filming due to fear of acting within a mold. She shared, “I am satisfied with Moon Dong Eun.” When asked how she wanted Moon Dong Eun to look outwardly, she replied, “I wanted her to look exhausted and weak. A person determined to take revenge might gain weight, but I thought it would be more pleasurable when the perpetrators were beaten by a weak and small person whose appearance makes them think, ‘What’s so scary about that person?’ Initially, I was planning not to change my clothes that often, but since the character’s job is a teacher who stands in front of children, I had to look more neat and tidy.”
