On first loves,
I think it is a very interesting choice for production team to deviate from their usual formula and introduce one relationship which they have never explored.
Talking about Rosa and Chairman. Clearly, best friends, childhood friends.
Now, why do we have this dynamics in this drama?
Rosa-Chairman, and drama making sure their halves are dead. AND everyone is well adjusted to this relationship.
1. Can drama be so bold to have them end up together (like taek and SW's parents) - asian society, they will get a lot of backlash. But, i would love if drama could go there and show old people realizing lost love post deaths of their respective partners
Are they the first love story in this drama?
2. Or, are they the foil to first love in this drama - that you may have liked the other, and other can live an entire life without being aware of that fact... and you may just die being best of the friends - life fulfilled.. and first loves don't always have to mean sthg
3. Or, that a man and a woman can truly be just friends. Just friends. SHwa doesn't need to have her lover from the group ( and is she someone who would not confess her love if she is sure about it)
Note, if they just wanted to show happy old age group of people (just as parents in 94,97,and 88).. they really could have that mafia game with the parents. Nobody had to die, because death hasn't changed anything for the main characters and propelled them to make choices which affect drama's plot or equations amongst themselves.

I am guessing it’s because this P.D./writer duo splices scenes. So that story may have an epilogue. They like to do this to send viewers up the garden path
. Like the scenes where they first meet in the shed? Something’s missing there. They showed SHwa leaving after IJ and JWan sneak out. And then later SH/Andrea sneak out and make their way into the shed. What was SHwa doing outside before? If she had followed IJ and JWan out, why did she wait till SH and Andrea got into the shed before she did? There seemed to be quite a significant time gap there. Because we are shown SH and Andrea dithering with the 2 seniors standing on watch outside.
Flashback - that is a very good catch

You remember, on the result day in that scene, the last shot before she enters doctor's room is a shot from the end of the hallway. At that time, i thought that was to give us a 3rd perspective .. that someone is there, seeing SH and IJ from a distance
BUT, director used the same shot in this episode (or was it last episode), and that shot is meaningless. So, then i am forced to think that at times director makes the choices just to shuffle screen layout for the audience..
what a bummer!

But my takeaway is
SHwa and JW - SHwa may like him, might have always liked him; but JW at best had a crush on her .. i don't think he is actively in love with her because he is so subdued.. he seems to be more in love with SH
( ep 1 - funeral, when they were asked how come they never fell for each other - each one of them looks at someone
.. and it is telling - JWan asks JW why he didn't fall, JW quickly looks at SHwa, SHWa looks at IJ, IJ looks at SH .. lol and then someone broke the news that SH did like SHWa)
This is how i looked at this scene -
first watch, i thought each one looked at who they liked it/ surprise question - relevant action. So, by that logic JW had a thing for SHwa and SHwa had a thing for IJ. JWan had a thing for no one , lol. And, SH had a thing for SHWa.
This theory was going well, until the flashback scene of IJ liking SHwa - so this scene was rendered meaningless for me
And took away that one strong moment where i thought there was a clear indication or atleast some info on JW

SHwa's real character is when she is with JWan. Whoever has to base their analysis of her will be when she is wit JWan. And they are quite similar.
SHwa and IJ - if i go by textbook, back in college i would have expected a nerdy girl to fall for the charmer. But, with SHwa i was really not sure if she is nerdy but super confident (because then she won't fall for IJ) or nerdy and went through her phase of insecurities of growing up (specially in love dept)
However, IJ said sthg (was it this episode or last) - he said "Yes! everyone loves SHwa" - which tells me 2 things
1- One director is telling audience that SHwa has many admirers
2. Back in school and college she was actually popular - AND THIS, made me step back from my first impression in ep 1 that a nerdy girl will fall for the poor, self made man who is also an all rounder and very charming.. AND a topper ..
SHwa actually didn't have any insecurities that IJ could complement. And, that she is popular, well liked - she is what IJ is..
HOWEVER, what she isn't is probably super kind (as in super polite, patient etc - remember she scolds her interns, has a stern look, even in the group of 5 she ain't the polite one).. because her best parallel is JWan.. so then who is kind and different from her.. it is JW.. ( I would have loved JWan based on ep 2 dinner scene because he is the only she is truly herself with.. lol but then i quickly realized that they are so alike that they can NEVER EVER be romantically together.. they are best friends, partner in crime, gossip girl best friend dynamic)

But JW is also like the baby of the group. Could everyone be babying him and he truly will find his love outside of the group? (IJ despite his baby like behavior is NOT the baby of the group)..

If you want to know who or what SongHwa will like, it is important to know her type.. everyone has a type and she has dated many men - does anyone remember who his ex was in ep 1 and if we know anything about that character..
She doesn't like SH for sure..lol
and she doesn't like JWan for sure because these two are very very similar in many ways - truly friends
Now, does she like JW ( given how purposely we haven't got any JW-SH alone scenes are direct interaction scenes compared to others is also a red flag - why does writer want to go to that extent to make us believe that after 20 yrs of friendship, these two are still fairly formal towards each other, no together scenes etc)
Does she like IJ - character wise back in college, i would have said a girl like SHwa will definitely be attracted to silly funny good looking flirt and topper student. But, IJ's character is such that you can argue both ways - why and whynot Shwa will date him

Well i had some reading to do to even know why i was being quoted, and admittedly i have forgotten most of it.. but to answer a couple of points:
1. Now i know chinese actors voices are dubbed, and we get lucky at times (untamed dubbing is awesome
), and dilraba in ELOD (although i haven't really watched this drama yet just in bits and pieces) voice suits her
2. ELOD - i don't remember anymore what i felt about them in Ten piles except that i wasn't impressed but knew two are super b'ful and attractive. Little scenes that i have seen, i think Vengo Gao and Dilraba did justice to their roles... he really plays cheeky well and she plays innocent b'ful child woman well
3. BQ - what ninky is saying is somewhat related to what i observed.. so i am happy to know that director captured those details well... but i think i overvalued YM's acting because legend of F was so dissapointing
4. I want to watch ELOD and that other drama in the same universe with different set of leads (Nini??) - but somehow not able to find the motivation to

Who thinks that Se Ri's dad may actually turn out to be that section 11 north korean?
They said right, NK is SK is secret so well kept that no one knows who they are?
The potential end couple, i see following possibilities
1. Reunification happens (this is fantasy.. although i hope this isn't the case)
2. No actual happy ending..but more like meet at forrign locations, or get another country's citizenship.. like go away and live together (fraught with danger.. can't see how they can pull this off)
3. Se Ri is NK or Captian is SK, for happy ending to make sense (former possible)
4. Captain becomes part of unit 11 , goes to SK permanently
( but again, that's cheating girl on her national belief and a hero won't do that)

As for what I feel about Kyung....up until the revelation he has been pretty one note...atleast that's how he is written...a guy desperately holding on to his Manhwa storyline as his silver lining and Danoh as well...does he love Dan Oh, yes...in the most toxic, complicated way possible ..did he love her in Trumpet Creeper....I think he did but he was not self aware as much as he is in here...hence he regretted putting that sword in her...I must applaud Lee Jae Wook here....writers of the drama has given him a pretty black and white canvas...nuances were added by him...or else in the hands of a lesser actor, I can say with confidence, this would be a disaster...I for one liked that they pushed him to the point of almost killing Dan Oh in shadow...his burden is heavier in the shadow...that's gotta mess you up...I liked that he backed away with realization that he doesn't have to stay the same as the previous Manhwa...where selfishness, ego drove every part of his actions, its up to him to do things differently....It also gives me hope that he will be the one reuniting Dan Oh with Haru...we will have to wait and watch
if he didn't kill.. i bet it is his brother who killed
the brother has suddenly got more lines.. and his only objective seems to be Baek Kyung's happiness
so he killed DO.. pretty sure in trumpet also he egged on BK

For these characters, they take birth because author drew them right?
Their world is what author's knowledge is right?
Meaning, the language they speak, the words they understand.. in shadow too, they will speak what they know right?
their vocab is limited to all the words all the characters ever spoke in their presence and the dialogues these characters speak for themselves... so even if they want to break free... atleast in terms of what they say, what they know, what they feel.. that is a limited library of emotions.. isn't it?

so in today's episode they clearly showed us that JD has has awakened..
the scene with mom in law at school regarding her shoes..
notice, when SM appears and mom in law talking to SM, the camera angle at JD.. is exactly same as what drama has been showing for other awakened characters since last 2 episodes.. - the character is in focus, there is a hazy shell around.. and everything else seems in far background - they used the effect on DO, DH, BK.. so many times.. before throwin in JD
so ya.. we are sure she has regained her conscious

In all versions, including original story/novel - JC was not being stupid.. he was trying to save WX who was about to get caught by Wen guards.. and in saving him, JC got caught and ended up losing his core

Yibo's voice actually suits LZ's character .. is deep and mature and soothing.. he could have done that..
XZ's i think it is good they dubbed it.. voice actor did fabulous

In the drama/live action, WX does take on MXY's body which has been clearly called out and confirmed time and again
(1. Initial episodes when WX wonders and is happy to realize that no one saw MXY's face 2. JL gives backstory to it saying that people think his face was scarred so he wore mask 3. WX telling LZ that this new body is weak 4. This new body doesn't have wen mark etc)
What happened in live drama though is.. that while WX inherited MXY's body, but face morphed to show his own (however there is a difference.. Life 1 - he had a mole , life 2 - he doesn't have the mole under his lips )

And i don't know why people usually completely overlook the deep love JC has for WX.. the boy truly truly loved and cared for WX as his brother.. only to be shunned.. the whole story is full of multiple snippets where it is clearly laid out that WX is the flamboyant one and JC has to keep cleaning up his mess..
let's just say.. MDZX is truly very sad for each individual

I think that spoiler is a bit embellished. I think it's more accurate to say
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying became "cultivation partners," which can be considered the same as husband/wife...
Maybe it's just semantics. When you say "legit wife", I can't help but think a full blown wedding with red clothes, a sedan escort and family members witnessing, which did not happen in the novel.
SpoilerUhmm.. no.. author confirmed they got married.. married as husband and hsband.. given their ritual of bows.. and they live together.. and LZ had a proper conversation with LQR on their status.. and btw, LZ got married before they made out for the second time.. because in 1st time.. WX teased him about doing things without marriage
