@maddymappo  Like you, I was wondering if Lou Ben's wife, Wang Yan Ji is still alive.  And if she will wreak Revenge on CSS and Ling Bu Yi (Huo Wu Shang).  She was Glaring at them both towards the end.  As for Yuan Shan Jian, I don't know if he will help her. I am not so interested in her.

I cheated and watched all episodes on a different website:

    Spoiler

Wang Yan Ji does survive and not quite the happity dappity way I imagined.

  2. Hello, I am watching this drama on viki and there is something I was thinking about and what like to know what others who are watching think.

I am wondering if Yuan Shen saved the pregnant Wang Yangi (Lou Ben's wife).  He was watching very intently when she threw herself over her husband's body.  I know his great love is Naio Naio but I think he felt great compassion for this young woman who was a pure and faithful wife.  So I am putting this out there. Will we find Wang Yangi con bambino  safe and well in a little dwelling somewhere?

  3. I enjoyed the entire series, sorry it ended.  I thought the last 2 episodes had too much going on and became a bit chaotic.    Ashile Sun and Li Changge go off and raise eagles? There still is much to explore. Hoping for a second season.

    Spoiler

Suddenly killing off MiMi just seemed heavy handed, and all the emotions about it crammed in and rushed so much it left me numb.  I just didn't care for some reason, even though she was beloved by both She-er and MuJin, and of course her little brother.

No way if the In laws get hold of the child She will try to save herself first and even she did BW will look out for his child first and foremost as a loving father.  That’s a given.  But I just bet that precocious rascal will find a way to escape on his own or The duo will get his “Mom” back ASAP

After all This is angsty but not very dark or cruel or tragic as Sageuks go. I’ve have seen some bleak, hopeless and  crazy cruel ones.

Yes BW is a loving devoted father. That makes the actions of the King rather difficult for me to accept, .. how can he sacrefice his child "for the greater good"  - to hell with the greater good, yes Hwa-In's father -in-law is an evil control freak tying his hands... but can't he come up with a better way?  And the father-in-law says he is also willing "to lose a son" because the DIL must die.  Considering, he has already lost the son married to Hwa-In, I would think the that the thought of losing another child would be unbearable.  Do we know yet how Hwa-In's husband died?

  5. Hello, I just started to watch this series, and so far so good.  I love that the leads are mature. I know that youthful mating which is natural is central to kdrama themes and during Joseon era how long did people live? They understandably married young. But I think Jang Il Woo is really doing a wonderful acting job .. he is really displaying the stress and suffering he has been through and his confusion and conflicts.  i love the dignity and graciousness of Hwa-In. .... and that she is not beating up guys.  The entire cast is first rate.

I like that it is exploring bossam, the taking of a bride by kidnap (other societies do this too), and also hits upon the noble wife award for killing herself to follow her husband in death.... Although we had the miracle cliff jumper survival, somehow it does not feel cliche. ( really, I think they should display a warning for children "Cliff Jumping is dangerous, do not try this or you will die or be seriously injured!I)

The introduction of modern expressions like "get out of my space"  is being done well too.  Sometimes I find it off putting.

I am hopeful thiss series stays fast and fun.

I am wondering if we will meet Ba Woo's sister and mother, and possibly his wife.. they do not include them on the character list on asianwiki.

My theory: the female politician is behind the OZ people. Her aim is to pass the law to abort fetuses with the psychopath gene.

OZ people are related to victims killed by serial killers. They believe it's their duty to help pass this law, and prevent more victims from being killed in the future.

They didn't clean up after the 7 sins killings because BR has the psychopath gene. If he gets caught, it'll help support their case.

But with the twist of events, the public now believes that YH is the serial killer. If YH, who has the psychopath gene as well, is revealed to be innocent and kind, it'll be detrimental to their case.

Interesting. I definitely think that the lady politician (is she Shin's mother?)  is behind some of what is going on.

The abortion issue is important.  YoHan's girlfriend did not get the abortion, if she did it would have been tragic. He was not a psychopath but even so, it doesn't mean the child would be. And, Daniel said a small percent do not turn out to be psychopaths, they are geniuses.  It seems like Yohand was a genius.  After the brain transplant (it there was a brain transplant)  BaReums IQ seemed to shoot through the roof, he was figuring everything out.

But abortion in general, do you kill a fetus because it might be a killer? Is it okay to experiment on human children for the "greater good" as HH has said? HH is a psychopath... he does not have compassion for individual human lives.

@bedifferent @holyfea  Some of you have pointed out that Michaela is BR' younger sister who we now learn was missing after the massacre.  Also there is a theory that Yohan was visiting her.  He would be presenting himself as her "older brother'.  That is interesting - could be.  I wonder though who brought her to the orphanage, at that time it could have been the boxer?   Wouldn't she be over 18 years old now?  Michaela does have some disability, perhaps her savant's syndrome - autism?  So they keep her at the home.

  7. I didn't miss this drama during the break.  But these last two episodes were interesting

The writer, like the old BR is a magician pulling rabbits out of the hat.  Although it was suspected that the government is in on all this.  Just how does a deranged pscyhopath get released from prison to do experimental brain surgery in a major hospital?  OZ is the deep state.  They are experimenting on humans.

At last we find out why there were three bodies. We thought the mother lived but it appears the one who lived was BR's sister.  I am wondering if they used his little autistic sister as a lab mouse, used her brain for experiments.  Experimentation on little children seems to be trending in Korean dramas.  Very dark and creepy.

I get a lot of insight from the comments because I just can't keep up with all of the characters and victims and pscyhos in this show.

I think it was rotten to kill off Na Chi-Kook after he had suffered so much and finally came out of the coma.

What really happened to grandma and why?

MuChi shot to kill YH, but was it his shot that hit him?  or one of the Oz people?

I think it’s someone in the government.  Someone who has money enough to fund it.  There’s no turning back for BR if he is the 7sins killer.  Because that would mean he killed BY’s grandma?  And that would definitely mean an end to BaBong.  If BR is just Dexter and kills serial killers (so far it looks like he killed 2), there is still a possibility of redemption for him because they “deserved” it (although I am not for anyone killing) so potentially he can still emerge intact as a “decent” human being and end up with BY.

I think it might be that political lady. She had BR's back as a hero of the country, but something is going on with her. BR being a cold blooded killer is very problematic, since we have until now only seen his friendly generous "mask". But who knows.. it could all be a bad dream .. the writer keeps switching back and forth.

So many loopholes in general, that big anouncement on the bill borad about finding the little boy dead:  No way they would release that information to the public until the family was notified.

I enjoyed 14 and 15 because it gave us more insight, even if we are being misled, it is satisfying to get some answers. Even if it is ephemeral.  I think though, it is possbile BR is the real culprit in the past.. he will somehow redeem himself as much as a murderer can, and then die because of the transplant surgery.

I thought BY was a bit unreasonable in her anger at HJ, after all the baby is innocent.. expecting a woman to kill her unborn child because of the father's sins, ... not fair.

I think currently K-drama is full with psyco and serial killer theme..start from Flower of Evil last year, then Beyond Evil, Mouse, and the new one is Taxy Driver...
Hmm I am planning to try Beyond Evil and Taxy Driver...the casts are great

i agree we are in dark times. As someone said in the beginning, it's a Covid mentality.  Other dramas used human children as guinea pigs, Awaken and L.U.C.A...  ... the unconscious fear of "scientists" objectifying people for experiments, they are also acting like psychopaths.

you meant the one where ASun shot her at the top of the fortitude walls? By the sound of his strategist, he planned that risky move, to show he’s impartial, while taking out of CG (she’s injured so she won’t be continue fighting). Because his bowl skill is very good, he knew where he should be shooting, but he still has doubts and worries whether he shot the right areas

i meant Wei Shuyu shooting at CG when she was on the bridge and fell into the river

Does anyone knows whether Shuyu is love rival with ASun or Haoduo? I’m a bit confused.. Some reviewer said Shuyu is fighting with Haoduo to get Leyan.. didn’t Shuyu like Changge?? And treat Leyan as little sister?? So is Shuyu love rival with ASun or Haoduo?

I am wondering about Hhaoduo - he is somewhat brutal, ruthless in his actions and at first I think LeYan was turned off by him.. she is definitely his opposite and opposites attract.  ASun is a more gentle person, but he loves Changge - wondering about him shooting that arrow at her - if he knew it would not be fatal?

I justed binged on viki the first 24 episodes with English subs. I very rarely get to this point in a C-drama w/o being bored for a moment or w/o not liking one of the female or male leads. In this one, I like them all. Fantastic chemistry.

    Question:

I thought HongJu stole the bike dashcam with footage of BaReum.

How come BongYi got a hold of that flash drive with the dashcam footage?

She took HJ's place for meeting the bike owner, because HJ had an interview. But the kid was in an accident, so BY stole the tape.

Just one observation.  Gu Mu-Chi has been very willing to do all sorts of crazy things to get into the prison and kill HH.  He also shot to kill YoHan when he did not have to.  So why is he is so gung ho to find the killer of BY's pedophile attacker?   He suddenly has become very ethical when it come to killing psychopaths, ... just saying.

The writer just keeps adding more and more characters.  I guess to replace those she casually dispensed with each episode via some serial killer.

Yes, exactly. So many people keep getting added on, it's dizzying. So many time changes, so many serial killers. So many missing people.  Loose ends.

Writer-nim does not disappoint us in episode 12, as we are shown numerous retakes on the same scene, chopping it up into a jigsaw puzzle - much like the entire series. I feel like I am trying to push the pieces into spaces where they don't really fit.

This time, once again, I got the feeling that the politician wife lady is BR's real mother. Somewhere along the line she switched him out.  That is my feeling.

It's disappointing that BR appears to have murdered a human, but the writer may be holding out, and it could be that yet another person came on the scene and topped him off. Of course, at the least BR was in psycho sadist mode, and castrated  the guy, .. which would get him a few years in prison.

So, who''s blood do you think Gu MuChi found on the weapon?

    @Avocado80

Thank you for explaining who that was.  So many characters in this series, I can't keep up.

@CA C said:  "One word messy. I find the sudden development to be messy and difficult to follow. Tired of guessing. Will just watch what happen next."  My feelings, exactly.  Maybe this is all a jumbled nightmare in someone's head.

Also, I found it strange that Dr Lee said BR will kill all his own loved ones.  I know that Jae Hoon may have killed his family, but in general don't psychopaths kill other people and keep their families alive as a normal cover for their activities?   The  lawyer killed his sister and mother, but his motive was to kill  sinners. He did not kill his father.  HH did not kill his wife.  He went out and killed strangers.

YH (if he was a psycho) did not kill his mom or girlfriend, and we don't know who killed his friend yet. Is that a sign he is not the psycho?  Or, is Dr. Lee just playing with BR's mind?

"Confusing" is  not strong enough a word.

  15. Please someone explain who it was that did not pass along the child molester's (Bong Yi' s attacker) mother's note to the captain to get Mu-chi off the hook for bashing her son?

Someone, I don't remember who, came up with the brilliant theory that Daniel Lee was alive............ that did not even cross my mind. Congratulations for being able to follow and understand this crazy plot.

I think it is bad writing when in the final chapters new characters appear in the story.  There was too much game playing and too many tricks being done.  I like a stronger emotional storyline that I can reasonably folllow even if there are twists and surprises.  And too too many loose ends.

Episode 11 was again too too bloody for me.  it's such a mess that I find that I don't really care about the characters anymore.

Hi guys, I just finished the episode and came straight to the comments!. I have to say I am SO GLAD that MC didnt die, as many of you predicted it was BR imagination.  I enjoyed this episode but I feel like the lawyer killer subplot was a bit unnecesary (?).

One thing caught my attention, who took the brooch and the necklace from the body after BR saw them? It wouldnt make sense for the lawyer killer to take them. I just had this crazy thought, what if BR took them in his state of mind as killer and hid them? like if he developed 2 personalities.

Also, his hallucination of YH saying if he enojyed the killings, does that mean YH is actually the killer? or maybe they were both killing at the same time 1 year ago?

Yes, that was extremely strange.  Where did the killer get the brooch in the necklace in the first place? The last I remember seeing the brooch was HJ finding it in YH's house on the floor and thinking it was not his style.  Too weird that the killer would know BR was going to see it, or anyone would see it, and then sneak back to remove it... no, I think it had to be BR did something during an hallucination.

There are just too many murders and murderers in this series. Too much jumping between time frames, the past past, the past, the future past.. the HH murders, the family Kim murder, the sin murders,  the bad girl murders.  the Dr. Lee and YH friend murders (Noticed the lawyer's keen interest that HJ had a baby out of wedlock... I guess he put her on his list, but Br appears to have taken him out, unless this is all an hallucination too).

How is the writer going to tie up all the loose ends. Who killed the Kims, where are the missing people? Oy yoy yoy!

    :crazymad:

Question then is.  If BR was already the 7sins killer, what was the point for the writer to have HH implant YH’s brain in there?  BR was already evil from the start?  If BR was the 7sins killer and YH is innocent, then by implanting YH’s brain into BR, the writer did the reverse?  Tried to moderate evil BR’s natural state with YH’s good natural state?

I think HH said it was for the good of mankind.  "the greater good" that is why the other doctors worked with him. as a psychopath he had no qualms using humans like lab mice.

    2 hours ago, bedifferent said:

@nrlleeJi Eun’s water broke and she delivered her baby after she witnessed Hyung Chul pushed his mom off the window (she tried to choke him).  If you look closely, I believe the pregnant nurse who recognized Ji Eun earlier when she passed in the hallway is the researcher’s wife - the one who conversed with Ji Eun after Daniel Lee’s consult... the one with the kind hsb who intended to raise her own child despite knowing his genetic disposition.   Blood from Hyung Chul’s mom mixed with Ji Eun’s embryonic fluid, prefacing that Hyung Chul and Ba Reum meet later on.

Most importantly, if Ji Eun indeed switched her child after birth, it’s possible that Yo Han is the researcher wife’s son!!!!!  He who has the psychopathic gene actually turned out to be a genius!

I think that BR is the political woman's son, that is why she pushed for the experiment with HH. But as it was pointed out, HH wanted his freedom in exchange, and then changed his mind.  Why? Maybe BR really is his son? and there was a switich, but the political lady seems to have a connection to BR (or perhaps she only thinks she does?)

  17. So it appears that the mouse kid was YH, but he still may not be the killer.  We still haven't seen BR relive the murder of the Kim family. That was an older boy.   There is also something about the awakening in the hospital when he kills the bird.  Later he asks his aunt about where the bird is, and she changes the topic.  Does the aunt know that BR is inately the psycopath?

Again we see the theme playing out about being god. Who decides life and death, the decision to sacrefice a life for the "greater good" or even for revenge.  The question of abortion. HJ doesn't have the abortion even though she thinks YH may have been the psychopath.  She says they are alike, we learn that likeness isn't psychopathy but that they are both children of criminals.  Or so it seems.

I am hoping BR does not kill  Mu Chi, that this is some bizarre dream, but the fact that Bong Yi is watching and there was another witness... does not seem dreamlike. The amount of bashing and blood doesn't look like Mu Chi will survive, and if he does then BR has blown his "national son" saint status.

I did enjoy this episode until that end. Even the little lab or horrors didn't throw me too much. But the Mu Chi scene was too much for me. I pray that this doesn't turn into a blood bath but that looks the way it is going.  So far I dropped L.U.C.A because it got too dark and I was able to finish Awakening but that was very very dark too.  Seems like a trend. Could be that we are all feeling like gunea pigs or lab mice with these vaccines and suspicions of government secrets and control. The paranoid psyche of the world leaking into the dramas.

  18. This show seems to be delviing into life and death moral issues. Man's inability to make moral decisions about the life and death of others. The abortion issue, how can a person know another person is going to be a murderer?  Is it okay to kill someone because you deeply believe they killed your love one or will kill other people?.. in this show we see that there are attempts to kill people who are or maybe innocent. And there is religion. The psychopath feels god let him down, but the psychopath also feels he is god and can make life and death decisions over others.  The psychopath seems people like a lab mouse.

I think that is what makes this show so interesting. :rubchin:

I don’t know if the writer will tell us.  But potentially it’s because he is YH’s father?  It’s a real stretch of the imagination because how can a person on death row be allowed out like that (with no police guards or anything?).  Most felons I know who are “let out” for compassionate grounds are handcuffed to an officer.  Anyway the scenario was

    1. BR was the Nation’s son and everyone (all the general public were watching and waiting for doctor reports) wanted him to live.  They already had a few “failed” ops on BR and he was still not out of the woods.

    2. YH on the other hand, seemed to be pulling through post surgery.  But of course who would want him to live?  He was going to head to jail anyway for his “killings”, condemned to death.  (Although in South Korea, whilst there is still capital punishment, no one has been executed (by hanging) since 1998.  So they just sit on death row for the rest of their lives I guess?).

    3. the Neurosurgeon that’s looking after BR seems to know HH and how skilled he was (emphasis on “was” because HH hasn’t held a scalpel for years now.  Practicing knots somehow doesn’t seem sufficient to me.  And even if he practiced on mice...somehow a mouse and a human aren’t exactly the same?  But whatever).  They would need consent from YH’s guardian for surgery?  So I guess HH would qualify because he is YH’s dad.  Not sure how they managed to bypass his mom though?  Again...whatever.

    4. The government was being blamed for BR’s condition and for being inept.  Their popularity vote was plummeting.  HJ sends the Politician lady a tape from HH’s lair.  Maybe that was what gave her the impetus to use HH.

So given the above, I guess the ruling party could potentially allow HH out to perform this last resort life saving (??) surgery on BR.  Even if it meant the death of YH as a result.  Or they could “kill” him and then harvest his brain/organs post mortem.  No one cared if YH died.  And the doctors could cover up that he died due to some other complications.  Only his mom would mourn for him.  Everyone cared that BR lived.  So they had to pull out all stops to make sure he did.  Even if it meant transplanting parts of YH’s brain into BR’s (still speculative but it sure seems like that is what was implied in Ep8).

it is strange because his mom Song Ji-eun would have been constantly by his side..? Could she have given permission? "all of my sins"

  20. @Alesaid "Hi friends, i dont know if anyone here watches Master in the house, the variety show of Lee Seung gi.  Anyway i wanted to comment that in the latest epiode LSG appears with his new haircut and Cha Eun Woo tells him oh is that haircut for the drama. are you the killer?? LOL.  LSG replied: no, what killer.. hahaha.  It made me laugh because even CEW is suspecting LSG character"

I am wondering if the actors know who is the psycho while they were filming each episode, or do they have to wait to find out too?

There are several people in this drama willing to commit murder. Capt Park attempted murder, Capt Park's wife commits murder, Mu Chi shot to kill,  Bong Yi almost killed YH.  These people are not psychopaths but can still kill people, and perhaps w/o knowing it they could be killing  innocent people.   Just adding that this also aligns with the abortion theme.  Having the abortion is presuming the child would be a killer, but there is no way to know that.  And it also appears there is a neuro surgeon who colluded with a psychopath to do an illegal and experimental brain implant and helped to kill the donor patient.  Yikes, there are politicians involved too, so who knows what atrocities are comming next. :wut:

I am learning a lot reading along.

@Fruitplus LSG wrote:" I don't think the ex-cop killed Capt Park's daughter, because Hong Ju asked him why he lied. I think Hong Ju is Capt Park's daughter, she probably too guilty to go back to her parents or HH might have threaten to kill her parents. When Capt Park's wife saw the bracelet on Hong Ju's wrist, she said it belongs to her daughter. Hong Ju is probably the girl who killed the mouse of that little boy (most likely BR)."

Good thinking! Yes.  Hong Ju can be Capt Park's daughter, that would make sense because of the bracelet and that they never found her body. I hope so.  I was confused by this, I thought perhaps she was also helping with that murder too.  Didn't they say something about a 10 year old boy in the car? Perhaps that is her brother who ran out and get hit by a car.

Is it definite that Hong Ju crushed the mouse?  I thought she was much older than that.  Capt Park's daughter was taken before Mu Chi mother and father were murdered. So she is very close in age to Mu Chi. I thought that would make her too old, but the time jumps around so much in this drama, it is confusing for me.

  21. I was ready to drop out of watching this drama. I am getting old.  Young children and old people should not watch violent and sad dramas.  But I hung in there and dabbled to see how much I could take of the 7th next episode. I am glad I did, because even though I found some of the plot difficult to follow I enjoyed what the writer did with the two injured BR and YH.

One of my theories which I thought was the most unlikely, was that because we see BR and YH being rolled into the operating rooms side by side, that there could be a soul transfer (this has happened in kdrama land but this particular drama did not seem likely to have a supernatural sudden twist).    But what the writer did was very clever, and I so much enjoyed watching BR regain the "memories" and become a genius.

Of course we are still very much in the dark about Jae Hoon and the death of that family and it does now really seem to appear Jae Hoon was YH - or is he?  We are still in the dark about Ji Eun's relationship to the Kim family.  We see Ji-Eun begging forgiveness for "all my sins'.

I am completely confused about the knots, left hand versus write hand, the detective who took the blame for the death of the other Detective's little girl.. and even the female reporter Hong Ju confuses me. I think she is the little girl who lured Dr Lee's sister to the car and now it seems she may have partipated in other murders but someone saw a 10 yr old boy in the car?? :crazily:it's enough to make me go crackers! .. cause there's  the old serial murders and the middle serial murders and the present serial murders and the new present serial murders.

And we don't know why  Dr. Lee had to die or YH' friend.  We don't know who the girl is who steps on the mouse? The girl who helped HSJ kill Dr Lee's sister, is at least 8 years older than YH, so she does't seem old enough to be the one who stepped on the mouse... maybe that was just a random memory.  And Hong Ju didn't seem that much older than YH.

Also the mouse memory seems to exonerate YH in part  - while he appeared to us as purely sadistic when we first learned about his relationship with the mouse as a little boy, now it looks like he was trying to save it.   So who really was Yh and was he really the older boy Jae Hoon?  We see BR have memories of the little boy in yellow fisherman rain gear and the mouse but we don't have BR flash back yet the Jae Hoon school scene and at home with  the Kims ( or even with Ji-Eun)

Thoughts on Go Mu Chi  - After they lived through the horror of their childhood, Mu Won became a priest, a life of a sacrifice to his religious belief and to helping others. Go Mu Chi is a handsome man yet he also lives like a priest, he is completely dedicated to stopping these mad people from murdering more people even if it means being put behind bars for the rest of his life. He is completely committed to this path.

    Spoiler

I was relieved Bong-Yi really didn't kill YH.
