When the scandal first broke, it was such a shock to the conscience because he seemed like a nice person. It's always shocking when someone you thought was a nice person turns out to be a manipulative jerk, which is something that's happened to all of us at some point. You lose a little faith in humanity, and your own ability to judge character.

But I wasn't going to be in denial about it. He's not someone I know in person, he's just a celebrity. And you never really know what a celebrity is really like behind closed doors. So if he really did those terrible things, then he did. And he will have to deal with the consequences.

    --

I'm glad he got his movie role! I'll bet the other two movies that dropped him are regretting it. :P

Everything you've said here is SO on point, you've put into words exactly how I felt in the beginning, thank you!

And can I say, I'm a little upset 2D1N has continued to drop him. Now I don't mean him rejoining the cast asap, but rather, with all the revelations and CFs that have continued their advertisements with him, surely they could leave him in the pre-filmed episodes? Reason why I'm bringing this up now, I've noticed in the latest episode of My Ugly Duckling (I apologise if anyone here is this actor's fan) where another actor caused a mini scandal and had to be removed from the program, they kept his pre filmed appearance in a game where his participation made it a little more comical. Now they could have chosen to omit that game for that team altogether because of his controversy, but they continued to show his scenes and boldy named him anyway.

Why can't 2D1N do the same for KSH when he's done nothing wrong?

Anyway, just ranting because I miss seeing him on the program.

@YuSanSeul and @lolly of course I'm not asking him to get back now but just hoping in the future KBS can consider to welcome him back. I understand he need rest and rebuild himself, he need to learn how to forgive and love himself again and it won't be easy. It will need a lot of effort and courage to be back but even though he looks weak he is actually a determine man so I believe in him that he can bounce back and get stronger.

The reason KBS quickly accept KSH resignation must be because because they learn hard from JJY case in the past. They only take him off temporary after first sexual assault accusation by his ex-GF and welcome him back 4 months later only 3 years later on the accusation actually true and even worse than that.

Oh I didnt know JJY actually went back on the show (I never watched previous seasons).

Well that spells hope for KSH then. Hopefully his departure from the program is only temporary and he can come back stronger like you said after his hiatus!

     Yeesssss, I'm so excitedddd...!!!

The most important thing for me, he can join back as 2D1N member.

Not only the member, crew and staff need him but we as his fans also need him there.

The only place where we can see the real him, being free and doesn't care with his image and don't forget his clumsiness but cuteness overload :D . I missed him so much!!

I agree!! Its lovely to see his clumsy and goofy self in the program, as well as the family vibes they give off.

But I remember reading a knetz comment early on during the scandal, that as much as his fans want to continue seeing him, we'll have to consider his position amidst this all. How withdrawn and down he must be feeling, to have all the details of his private affairs out in the public for all to judge, and yet still have to appear on television week after week joking and laughing like nothing ever happened.

And @EInfinity mentioned awhile back too, that for KSH to focus on acting and not to muddy up his image of variety star vs actor (if he were to achieve top star status one day), he would eventually have to drop out of 2D1N.

Another factor to consider is that KBS is probably the most 'upright' and 'conservative' broadcasting station in Korea from my understanding. So I wonder what the chances are for him to return :cold_sweat:.

Nonetheless, if there is a chance for him to return after some downtime, I would LOVE to see him on it again!

  4. Well well well. All the revelations! I have so much to agree with and so much more to say about his ex gf, but since a few of you have said we should refrain from commenting about her, I will respect that.

What I do want to say is, am I glad that not only did his friends, but SO DID her friends speak up in his defence. PLUS her personal long apology to KSH when they first broke up, is a good indication of her character and provides a glimpse into their relationship- even if haters try to doubt the credibility of Dispatch's article.

When KSH made no attempt to explain all the allegations, there were only 2 possibilities- either there was more incriminating evidence about his character and behaviour as a boyfriend, OR he wanted out (i.e. privacy) and was prepared to shoulder it all and go down with the news. And man am I glad it was the latter.

I intially wondered how bad of a judge of character was I to be supporting someone of supposedly such foul character. BUT her story simply did not add up. Hence why so many people were defending him initally and saying no way KSH could be two faced and keep up with such a consistent persona on screen for multiple years.

Now I'm simply relieved for him, and over the moon for us supporters.

It seriously put doubt in my mind about myself, to see haters call his supporters hardcore ahjumma drama fans, or brain washed female fans. Again, so proud that we never blindly defended him, instead insisting that it was a normal relationship where both parties made a joint decision to terminate a unborn life that they were simply not ready for!

However one party chose to distort the truth (in her favour!) and air their dirty laundry, whereas the other was prepared to accept all blame simply because there was SOME truth to the distortion.

The same guy who got dumped by his ex gf (who left him for another guy!) and kneeled 5 stories to beg her to return to his side, was once again not all the wiser in this relationship.

They say love is blind. Indeed, it must be.

  5. I get that she was hurting, nothing can ever take away the fact that he was not a good partner and let fame get to his head, so she suffered emotionally being in the toxic relationship that was theirs.

She wanted revenge, for his success whilst she felt like their relationship never saw the light of day and she was in the dumps.

Can I say, If KSH's fans are currently criticised for being blindsided, her supporters are equally overcome by rage-because no one can deny her intentions. Again I say, she knew what she was doing, even if her judgement was clouded (back then by love for him, and now out of hatred for him).

People question KSH's intentions for apologising- they say he did it because he had no choice, all had been revealed.

But why is she apologising, especially if she was so righteous about how much physical, emotional and mental pain he put her through? Because her privacy has been breached, her character questioned and her motives criticised? If she intended to take it this far, she should have just kept it that way. No use backtracking with a simple "misunderstanding". The damage is done.

Such is the price both parties had to pay, for everything done in the heat of the moment.

OK, in Korea an actor must be irreproachable, are we not in the United States or in England, but I see a lot of people blaming the victim because what? old, divorced? serious? , it took her courage to say what happened and she was manipulated, that's what shocks me the most, he's a manipulative and vicious

Yep, manipulative is a gd way to describe the situation. But I think why some of the public now have split sentiments is because they realise she's not young and naive either. I agree she may have been led to believe marriage was on the cards hence she gave in to an abortion, but it doesn't sound like she valued her baby as much as she claimed if she was drinking during pregnancy. And then people wonder, could she really be that naive to believe everything he said, being of a mature age herself and having worked with and possibly dated men within the industry herself?

If we were to say vicious, she has been pretty vicious herself with revenge don't you reckon? It was a calculated move to ruin him, and worse so, she hurt all his colleagues mentioned in her post.

If she wanted him to be judged and handed the death sentence, she should have known that she would have to brave all the backlash too.

Either way, they both have character flaws. Neither was the better person in the relatoonship.

What I fear the most has happened, Seon Ho simply apologized without any explanation. He felt so wrong towards the woman that he couldn't bother to explain other accusation as well, he wouldn't want to hurt her anymore, I respect him for that.

Talk about the woman, thanks for sharing @chickfactor, she is one year older than Seon Ho, worked in TV stations before, was married then divorced, now an influencer, so she understands well how the industry works, and she was determined to destroy his career 4 months after they broke up. I do not agree if Seon Ho fans attack her, she was in pain, but I have to say what she did was not right either. And why is her information all over the internet now? Does it ring a bell?

Now Seon Ho needs to pay for what he recklessly did. I am not even a huge fan of him but I feel really sad for him, his family, colleagues that are affected and his fans, this is devastating. I still root for Seon Ho though, I hope he stays strong, spends time to reflect on his mistakes then moves on. To me, he is still a great actor that I would like to continue watching and showing support, so I hope he will be able to find his way back to his acting career.

I'm with you. Tbh as someone who's been in a toxic relationship and still trying to recover from it, I felt bad for the woman and thought I understood where she was coming from-  her pain of watching him portray this boy-next-door image who could do no wrong, whilst she's reeling from being abandoned.

After more has been revealed, whilst I still do not agree with how he handled his failed relationship or think lightly of how he supposedly bad mouthed his colleagues, I do think she has intentionally made him out to be a LOT worse than the truth. Maybe he whinged to her about work, and she took it to the next level. (Maybe I haven't been as vile as KSH has been according to her, but I know I've complained about my colleagues before too).

It is not her first relationship, divorcee or not, she clearly has been a public figure and is still an influencer, she knows how the industry works. Did she really have to go into ALL that detail about him speaking ill of his current and past colleagues? Was she out to discredit him only, or to hurt everyone (who has done NO wrong) around him?

They continued to date for quite awhile even after her abortion, he didn't simply abandon her straight after. But clearly, the relationship was never headed for fulfilment- he valued his new found fame and career more than he valued her.

She might have thought she landed a great catch, him being young(er), good looking and a rising star, but was very bitter for being forsaken, especially after seeing how popular he had become. Knetizens have pointed out that she was consuming alcohol even after falling pregnant- that to me doesn't sound like someone who treasures her unborn child that came about with much difficulty(since she claims she has troubles falling pregnant). Even if she did have the child like she claimed she wanted to, she would have used it against him too (and he must have pre-empted that, hence the abortion).

KSH should have known that she would be difficult to deal with, she herself said so- that she wouldn't be able to live well if they broke up after her abortion and he married someone else and had kids of his own. Sorry, but that already sounds like a vengeful person (I never once had that thought when my cheating ex who led a double life gaslighted me and turned from our 13 yr relationship).

If, and I reckon this is what most people would think too, he hadn't risen to this much fame, she would never have posted their breakup so publicly but kept it as a miserable past of hers.

So eventually, she got her revenge, and the apology she yearned for, but I wonder if it's given her satisfaction? Not only did she ruin his career, she's also aired out all her dirty laundry for people to see.

Again, poor judgement by KSH (and definitely not saying that it is his only fault. His character is clearly not that great either).

Now I feel bad not only for us fans, but even more so for all his current and ex colleagues mentioned in her post- if we feel cheated by this imagery of his created for us, how much more hurt must they feel from all the revelations of KSH's backstabbing.

  8. Wow and that's it. Just wow. No words can express my shock- 2 sleepless nights, desperately and earnestly hoping that there would be a satisfactory and meaningful explanation to all this craziness.

But no, just a straight admission from actor K himself. Him not attempting to makes excuses or defend himself can only mean the degree of truth in the victim's words and the amount of damaging evidence she must possess. One can only imagine the amount of fear he must be feeling now aside from the aftermath he has to deal with.

Such is the ramification of poor decisions. Such is the price of fame. Such is the result of forgetting your humble roots.

Just as I was glad I could continue seeing him on 1N2D after Hometown. Having followed his work for the last 3 years, the emptiness is real.

It's plausible he could be dating all these while. But the part of the allegations which I'm confused over is the ex claiming he had to pay penalty for having a kid when she told him about the pregnancy in July 2020. I thought KSH only had his first CF after Start-up? What penalty was she referring to? The other part is she claimed he curse and talk bad about his colleagues. I understand celebrity has an image to uphold and we don't see their true self as fans. But testimonials from people who worked with him & gone to school with him has said otherwise.

Only the 2 parties involved would know what actually happened. But I hope KSH is taking care of himself as he tries to resolve this.

Agreed. The penalty payout got me confused too. I saw a list of his current endorsements and none would be reliant on a 'single eligible bachelor' image. Sure, him dating would come as a surprise to his fans, and even more so, pregnancy before marriage, but the story just doesn't seem to add up.

Seeing all the accounts on twitter put out excerpts about his character from PDs and colleagues, whilst possible, (and I'm in no way saying that KSH is perfect), I just cannot fathom that his on screen character is all but an image.

The K-ent industry is truly a toxic place! Haven’t these Korean celebrities learned anything ? From Kim Hyun Joong to TOP to Kim Hyun Joon..cmon men, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned . And boy , is she scornful after you’ve made it big in the entertainment business ! I certainly hope it isn’t SH and even if it is, it should have been a private matter between the two. Abortion isn’t something to go public about unless you’re just out for revenge .  But I guess that’s how the industry is run, these women can come out and say anything and ruin a persons career in an instant .  These k actors need to just become monks and keep their parts away from scornful women .

That, or date a fellow celebrity.

I've thought about it recently, and he's a grown man at 35, surely he can't be single for someone with so much charm. If an article came out that he was secretly dating, I would accept it. But this!

Really hoping its not him, his IG has been inundated with support from Korean fans alike chanting a constant msg of support believing that he is innocent, I cannot imagine the aftermath if it turns out true.

Sincerely hoping him and his agency are sorting things out behind the scenes (if indeed innocent, determining who she is and her motives for posting such a grey story, or trying to clear his name) instead of hastily releasing a statement, then have to backtrack or somethin.

I've received so much warmth from the drama and his lovable persona in 1N2D that it will just be heartbtreaking if there is no reasonable explanation.

After all, he's received so much support from industry insiders and his fellow cast mates and actors that all this bashing from the OP about his character behind the scenes (and subsequently the abortion and breakup story) musn't be true? Surely this wasn't all just a made up "image" of his?

    One can only hope.

  11. I was just about to pen my afterthoughts, agree with you guys, highlight what I loved, and say let's not go yet, we still have the BTS for last 2 eps, and viola it's released! With Eng subs too!

@1:14 I find it so cute how she blames him for smiling as she's reciting her lines due to her frustration from repeated NGs. Poor KSH defends himself with saying he's always had a smiley face . She may be older, but they certainly behave like friends do.

And why is our final BTS soo short? :dissapointed_relieved:. Plus NO BTS of our amazing KSH's acting in ep 15??

Surely we'll get the traditional thank you +final thoughts video by each and every of the main cast?

Just as I speak, it's up too! All the characters get their own time to convey their appreciation, even the kids get some screentime! Seriously I love how the producers of this drama show respect to each and every character, it's giving me so much fluff and warmth, even in post production :transforms:.

SMA is too cute getting teary and her voice all shaky, clearly this drama is as special to her as it is to us! It's so sweet that they get the actors to say something to their characters, as if they live on in Gongjin, as they do in our hearts!

  12. Naver has yet to update ratings, but source looks legit and definitely well deserved homecha team! :rickroll:

    Nationwide 12.7%

@ferily you highlighted the best bits so well so I won't repeat-other than I was touched when Dusik corrected HJ to say that their first encounter was special to him, that made all the difference! And I definitely wanna know where to find men like Euncheol and Dusik!

I recall when asked what he title would like to be conferred or referred to as, with the airing of this drama, Kim Seon Ho mentioned that he would like people to remember him as the ideal boyfriend. And he's done it alright! Gone are my expectations of a well-off prince charming. Rather a down-to-earth, genuine, kind, smart all rounder other half would be better! If he was tall and good looking like Hong Banjang that would be even better (oops, seems a lot more qualities I'm hoping for now!)

And whilst SMA didnt mention, for the men out there, gfs should be like her too (excluding the violence and sometimes demanding ways of hers :sweatingbullets:). But look, no one is perfect, and if they were, well, they wouldn't be real!

Seriously, Hong Banjang + Yoon Hye Jin= #relationship goals :smooches3:

  13. And that's it! I'll try to avoid spoilers and let us all enjoy watching it first.

It's not quite 2 hours long, and plenty of blatant (with scenes dedicated to it) PPL that just made me go LOL, but still happy that all our community of Gongjin gets satisfactory screentime to tie up their stories, even the kids get an arc! Our 3rd mystery is revealed and we finally find out who the lottery winner is.

And what's a rom-com without a twist to our leads and their marriage proposal? :joy:

It's a big happy ending, my heart is full and my smiles all throughout watching it couldn't be wider. The producers definitely returned episode 16 to the healing rom-com that they promised us Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha would be. Topped off with sha la lalalalalalala- Romantic Sunday!

Seriously will miss these two, they look amazing together, their chemistry shone through in this last episode, and especially at their wedding photoshoot.

I almost want them to be real, damn why do they match so well?!

Could just be me but I would've loved an epilogue of them with babies or somethin though. I will miss Gongjin :fullofhearts:.

It was 16 beautifully crafted episodes alright!

ShikHye wedding aside, I hope to see more of Ji PD and writer Wang tonight. Ji PD acting jealous is so funny, I think writer Wang knew already but she wants him to be able to tell her his feelings directly. Can DS go and knock some sense into Ji PD? I want to see more bromance please, they have been such good friends to each other.

Are you ready to say goodbye to HomeCha and our beloved cast? I am definitely not :(

Me neither! As much as we've seen our characters develop and their relationships blossom, it was only yesterday that I was bawling my eyes out (and woke up with a headache!), but the series is ending today?!!

@bearcreek I can't believe they are already airing final thoughts! Just makes it more surreal that tonight really is the end. NOoooo. SMA is true to her character, she's so cute with her pose as if she's crying, whilst posing with the scriptbook. Haha

I think it's really cute how the main cast is promoting the scriptbook for the last episode. Is it just me, or is it a really odd/out of the ordinary item to release for a drama? Hmm

Oh man did she have to die? The end, where she talks about feeling happy, as if she was (like a kid) looking forward to going to a picnic the next day. And her friend, who tells her after discovering her passed away in her sleep, to go ahead first, and she'll meet her there.:criesariver:

And here I was thinking maybe our last character to get closure would be Gamri, finally with a visit from her family or something. Oh man, my heart. The tears!!!

Nice to know that one of the songs that KSH enjoys listening to recently is one that LSY sang for Hangout with Yoo-shows how they pay attention to each other's appearances on TV and a good indicator of their friendship. Ah SMA's recent favourite song include the one that Du Shik sang. Is it too much/late to request that they sing a duet version of the song? If only.. :phew:

  19. I came across this video. Kang Hanna's (previous co-star in Start Up) commentary on Kim Seon Ho in her radio programme Volume Up. They discuss about his current popularity, how he's charming and well loved. Also mentions about how his protrayal as Hong Du Shik has a degree of resemblance to KSH in real life, demeanour, friendliness etc etc.

Around 12:05, they highlight that his mellow eyes are a contributing factor to his charm. :tears: Yes precisely that! Who can forget the sorrow he brings out, and the deep meaningful look in his eyes when he acts out the mellow and/or dramatic scenes!

What about 'Grandson charm' @12:50? I will never forget how he sobbed so hard in Start up in front of haelmoni :bawling:. Maybe Koreans will confer him the title of Nation's Grandson- that'll be something new

Also love it when Lee Sang Yi is with them. SMA is easy to get along with, and KSH clearly gets along with a lot of the cast in all his dramas- always ends up being so friendly with them!

This is to KSH SALT agency please let him rest...his filming schedule was so jammed pack. Look what he had to do all in one day. Film Hometown ChaChaCha with this emotional night scene then race over to the Fact Music Awards where he looked spunky hot to present the awards to BTS.  No wonder he wasn't at the red carpet of the Fact Awards show. On top of this he had to film 2D1N. Talk about striking the iron while its hot. SALT agency be careful you don't run down your actors or actresses.

Oh no, this reminds me of when he was filming his crying scene all night for Start up and rocked up to 2D1N filming the next day with swollen eyes

Its tough but at the same time he started out on mainstream TV pretty late so I get that he and his company would wanna grab all opportunities available. What can be better than presenting an award to BTS! :sweatingbullets: After all, popularity and favour with the audience can disappear all too quickly for some! Hopefully he's at least enjoying what he's doing though!
