This is consistent with what she said in ep7. She won't want to depend solely on a man, and die over a man. If she ever gets into a relationship, she needs equal footing. 

Still very gutsy of her to put it out in the open. That she likes JH, and wants to date him as a woman, and a man. But not before she gets to see the real JH, with all his flaws and vulnerabilities too. 

So excited for Ep 11!!!

Good point. SC is divorced too! And both of JH's friends are- Samchoon and IJ. That's a good way to bring some confidence back to HJ's belief on relationship! *sarcasm*

Yeah. And I think I finally understand why HJ told YD that she doesn't believe in romantic love. 

I was a lil confused earlier as she was clearly attracted and in love with JH and for her to say that seems lol contradictory. 

But I guess it is not impossible to like someone and still not believing it will lasts. 

Esp with JH deciding not to share his problems, and now IJ back, pretty sure her past is back haunting her, and paralysing her to fight for JH. Because even if she gets JH, she believes that one day in the future, JH may leave her when she's head over heels in love with him.

SH has been HJ's cheerleader for the past 13 years and I'd like to see her being happy with someone too! And to see HJ actually going out of her way and ask the residents favour (in the most awkward manner too!!) shows how much she truly appreciates SH's friendship

wow. This is moving fast. Took me 4 days with my intermittent connection to catch up! 

i can't decide what I want really. At one hand, I want our OTP to be happy and cute, but on the other hand, I do wish for some conflict to bring the series to new heights and ratings. 

There are still a lot of unanswered questions at the moment. 

- what exactly happened to HJ's mom? what exactly happened to JH after the car accident? it would give us a better indication on why JH and HJ turned out the way they did. 

- what happened in the 13 years?? the time jump has proven to be quite significant. After all, it changed HJ's life. But what's SC and SH's role?

- will HJ reconcile with the family? not that I want her to forgive the dad or the stepmom, as I truly believe they don't deserve forgiveness, but I do hope it frees HJ from all the hatred, and her unhappy past 

And yes, while I don't like IJ coming back to spoil the party, I also feel it's necessary for her to come back for a proper closure. 

They are all "heavy" topics but I feel it's necessary to be addressed for the show to be wholesome, and not just addressing everything on surface. 

- on a lighter note, I would also like to see more of the gangster boss and SC again!

Episode 9 and 10 tells me one thing- neither HJ nor JH is free of flaws

At the beginning of Ep 9, HJ in voiceover mentioned that she wants revenge. She wants to avenge the grandmother's death. While we would like for her to act out of justice, she clearly has mentioned (in ep 4 to SW that anger kept her going and brought her to where she is today; in Ep 5 to YD that she always gives back what she receives; and again in ep 6 that forgiving isn't an easy thing to do)

So it really isnt surprising that she wants revenge, and clearly believes that she will feel better once she gets her revenge...except, more often than not, we realised only much later that it really doesn't soothe the pain...and the pain doesnt go away until we let it go....but that's her fight mode. 

Meanwhile, JH took another extreme of flight mode, and we see that in Ep 9 and 10 that he really isn't that much diff from HJ. While he may not be prickly like HJ in his words, he too certainly has built a wall around him and deals with all his issues himself rather than get help from others. This works well for him as because of this, he understands HJ well enough to reach out to her, and break her walls. 

But as they want to get into a relationship, the walls they both built over time could break them as they each would not open up to each other. IMHO, they both have a bit to learn, on life, on how to love, and be loved.

HJ sure got all the powerful script. And this is why I love her character. 

She says things as they are, without mincing her words, without beating around the bush. What you see is what you get. She doesn't hide behind any facade, and just face everything heads on. 

She doesn't lead YD on, and just very bluntly tells him her feelings. 
And she also doesn't beat around the bush when confronting JH. 

JH said in earlier episodes that HJ doesn't understand love, and hence, the person (himself) that understand its love should move. Funny how now the tables turned, and HJ is teaching him instead that this isn't love. That love is 2 ways. 

Couldn't agree more with those who said that HJ is very much opposite of JH. While JH chooses to take flight when things don't go well, HJ is pretty much in fight mode all the time. And honestly, this is one aspect that I really respect about her. 
As she said to the boss "I've learned that if things are to happen, it will eventually happen. You simply can't run away from it"

Will be away for the week and might not be able to watch this week's episodes till much later. My only consolation is that episode 8 ended so nicely!! 

After all JH has done- holding her (invading into her personal space), the confession,the hug, the kiss, being her pillar of support (in both the challenge operation in ep5 and CS accident), and the person that lightens her up a lil, it's good to see HJ finally reciprocating! 

And I totally agree with those that mentioned this means so much more than the kiss, because she's finally opening herself up to him. She hesitated for a while, and then when she finally took that leap of faith, it really put a smile on my face! 

Im sure both JH and us viewers know how much it took HJ to make that move. 

having said that, I'd still like to know what happens in that 13 years! I still remember her halmouni telling JH 13 years ago, that he should forget about everything he knows about HJ, because she has more years to live ahead of her than she had lived, and we finally see her made it against all odds. When everyone around her has pretty much concluded her life was over even then. And then she went to prove all the skeptics wrong.

While a number of ppl would like to see HJ jealous about JH and IJ, I gotta say I'm not that keen at the moment. 

HJ has just opened up to JH, and while it seems like quick turnaround, JH has done a lot to reach where he is today! 

And while I totally think it's cute that JH got jealous of SC and HJ, JH surely looks confident in Ep 9 preview with YD now that HJ held his hands. Pretty sure JH is aware how much it takes HJ to take that step, and she's not one that wavers easily once she decides on something. 

However, I'm not sure if the inverse is true! Not yet anyway. HJ might still freaks out, and burn all the bridges again!

Just IMHO, I don't think she's JUST being stubborn. Sure, she did take it as a challenge, but right before she heads into the OR with JH, she did mention, "I only fight battles i know I can win". Pretty sure she has done these surg multiple times to be confident about her "fight". 

As someone pointed out, when puppy looked for HJ online, there was one article that mentioned she was one of the very few that does the "coiling" and done them successfully.

One might ask what's the big deal with the hand-holding compared to their first kiss in the rain?  Well, to my mind, the kiss was more of Ji Hong declaring his feelings.  He initiated the act and Hye Jung was merely the passive recipient, though she didn't resist him.  Ji Hong knew she wasn't quite ready yet to face the enormity of loving and being loved.  Yet with the hand-holding, it was Hye Jung who decided to take his hand.  Sometimes, under certain circumstances and within the context of a person's character, holding someone's hand can be far more intimate in its implications.  In the case of Hye Jung, to take Ji Hong's hand required a considerable leap of faith and a great amount of trust.  I don't expect her to suddenly initiate a kiss because, given her traumatic experiences, she would definitely be averse to any invasion of personal space.  Yet she took his hand.  Ji Hong, for his part, knew how momentous that act was for someone like Hye Jung and it made him happy.

Couldn't have said it better! I too do agree that the age gap is necessary for HJ's character. A person that she has respect for, as well as someone that is capable to see through her tough shell. 

While it's true that HJ had a late start, but with her intelligence and IQ, and the fact that she studied and worked her heads off, sleeping for only 10 hours per week, while everyone else was enjoying life, would have catapulted her in front of all her peers. She's running ahead of all her other fellows, and I wouldn't be surprised that her skills are on par with YD. Lest we forget that she did made staff before moving to this hospital.

But while she has accomplished so much in such short period, she's flawed in her very own way, and she's still learning. JH can teach her, mentor her. Be it in medical, as a neurosurgeon, or in life. 

@akhenaten couldn't say it any better when JH is her anchor, AND her cheerleader. He is always there for her when things are going tough, and always trying to cheer her up, showing her that life is worth living  

figuratively, JH saved HJ in Ep 8. I could so foresee that HJ would retreat and build an even higher and stronger wall if anything happens to SC. because she's been hurt so many times, she would rather forego loving than to be hurt again. JH prevented that from happening. Even when JH was so jealous because he thought there's something between HJ and SC, he still does all he can, both as a responsible doctor, as well as HJ's support and anchor. 

And that is what made their relationship so beautiful to me.

I actually think HJ just wanted to draw the line with JH then. She has been through, and seen what marriage breakdown is like, and the damage it can cause a person. After all, it costs her her mom. 

As much as JH believes HJ is a piece of white paper in love (she prolly is a lil lost), HJ is still a genius and probably could tell that JH was warming up to her (after all, she knew when JH was about to kiss her!!) and I think she wanted to keep a distance and not be the person she hated...the third party. 

I believe HJ truly believed that marriage is both scary, and sacred. Scary because in her mind, love and marriage is all about fighting till the end, until one person dies; and sacred because it should be a promise to walk together till the end, and not walk off when things are no longer a bed of roses like her dad did.
