Though I don’t understand why would JK push SH away when he has known the truth about her bare face since day one?

The FL needs a kind of acceptance by the society, by the classmates at that moment, and thus she doesn't need SH (even though he knew about her bare face). Acceptance in human psychology is a person's assent to the reality of a situation. Any teenager tends to desire to be accepted among friends as part of that group, and act upon that desire through peer pressure, and that shown clearly in this drama. Look at the group of noisy boys in the hospital room or in classroom, they always seek for friends/bromance relationship and they "cry over" it if 1st or 2nd ML ignore them (eg. the knitting scene when their friends suddenly pop up, that was funny too :D)

It is true that human tends to seek for acceptance in the society. Before the acceptance by others, one needs to learn self-acceptance which is why the teenage FL is struggling all these while with her bare face especially in Korean society, sad to say...In order to tolerate the differences and diversity in others whether in school or society, most people try to look and behave like others do in order to fit in to the group/society.

The push away SH scene is purposeful and carried a meaning - social acceptance is more important than anything else in class at that moment. Hope this helps explained why she did that?

I like three of them become closer and good friends eventually. Especially 2nd ML has a very kind heart, I love his character and he always bridge the gap between FL and ML should there be any misunderstanding or trouble between them.:D

  2. To be honest, having a high expectation for watching this drama is not necessary as this is just purely a fairy tale like comical love story in high school. Watching it with a high entertaining mood would be better rather than too critically analyse their triangle love relationship. I am ok with this type of puppy love for high school kids as my mood for watching this is purely for fun and entertaining.:D

    For fairy tale ending for this drama, the FL will usually go with first ML ;

For realistic ending, three of them still have a long journey to go through after graduated, as they will enter into another phase of their life journey.

As a mature adult, I only have one wish for this ending, I wish the three of them become good friends and they become successful in their chosen career if there is a time jump at the end (Eg. Ju-Kyung becomes a famous artist makeup and turns up popular in youtube, Seo-Joon becomes a famous singer, Soo-Ho becomes a national baseball player or something else advance in his career, etc....) - open ending is fine with me as long as it has to be a positive and encouraging ending. :)

True beauty is born through our actions and aspirations and in the kindness we offer to others. I'm firmly convinced that true beauty comes from the acceptance of oneself, from an awareness of who we really are. Self confidence can build through years and thus I wish the drama writer can carry out a meaningful and take away message at the end, so as to synchronize with the drama title. :)

  3. @szne09 Thanks for sharing. I wonder is there any TVN annual award too? i have noticed that there are SBS, KBS, MBC awards every year, but any TVN award? Does APAN award cover across all entire south korea awards?

I am so happy to see that Kim Soo Hyun turned down the role in "Finger" that portrayed the role of a sociopathic murderer.  But instead, he chooses the role of Kim Hyun Soo in "That Night" (BBC drama, "Criminal Justice" remake), the role he play will be a diligent but ordinary college student who becomes a suspect in a murder case overnight due to a mistake. According to the news, he becomes a person who will use evil to survive in a selfish world. I prefer this type of challenging role that he plays so that it is more relatable to the current cruel society in some countries in order to survive and to struggle between the evil and the justice system. I am looking forward to see his diverse performance in this new role. ^_^

SYJ new role is in a fantasy drama, so i am not worried too much of her role. :)

  4. @Nodame hi my dear chingu. Great to see you here too.:issohappy:

Yes it was such an entertaining drama when watching - comical and eye candies actors/actress. Not much crying scene, rest and relax drama. I must give credit to the PD who is able to guide the young actors/actress to act.

BTW, another factor i like this drama was OST at the end of the EP, ...something fast paced rhythm mentioning about "i like dancing"...anyone knows the oldies song who sang by the female artist? Will appreciate it if can share here.  :getmygrooveon:

  5. This drama really made me laugh a lot, especially on Ep7 - the most funny EP thus far.

Few scenes that captured my laughter :

    1. The FL asking ML to remove "worms" underneath her shoe and ML allowed her to sit in order to balance her body, she was mistakenly sitting on his shoulder back, but the next second the camera zoom out and moved to the nearby chair....- that was funny :D
    2. There were overweight of passengers in the lift, all the fat men in pink T-shirts were trying to breathe in so that to reduce "over weight" - that was funny x 2
    3. In the lift where three of them were trapped inside, two ML holding FL's hand and insisted not letting her go, but she wanted a RickRoll'D....and the 1st ML offered her an empty coffee cup for her to RickRoll'D (emergency reason), the funny part was once the lift open, the swift action taken by FL - dashed out from the lift was really funny....left with two ML "stunning and unbelievable look"...:D

The story brought back many sweet memories during those school days when we were young, except that the exaggerating of the story only happened in Kdrama land.

I like three of them, so funny and good looking with good acting.

My only hope that three of them will become good friends and focus more on study together in the end. I wish the FL will eventually choose what she wants in future (after the end of school terms) besides the puppy love that is more important - what is the true beauty in life?  - i don't mind whether she chooses the first ML or 2nd ML, because i know it will be a happy ending in the end for this type of storyline. Of course , My first choice is the 1st ML because she always shown bare face and clumsiness in front of him :D

Right now, I am just enjoying this type of entertaining love story without using much on our brain.. :popcornjackson:

  6. Among all cast, I quite like the actor, Park Eun-Seok acted for Logan Lee, it's not because of his look, but his Linguistic excellence, he can master well in two different accents , switch two roles between a PE teacher and a savvy investor from high society. Awesome !!B)

Initially based on the news release, i thought he would pair up with Kim So yeon as her husband role before the actor Yoon Jong-Hoon took over. However, in my opinion, Logan Lee 's role is more suitable for Park Eun-Seok.

After watching EP 16 & 17, the most controversial and evil role in this penthouse drama had driven Kim So Yeon's excellent acting skills to another higher peak.

i particularly admired and amazed by her acting skills in EP 17, the scene when she walked on the hallway to see her father's death in the hospital room, the camera had a closer shot on her face : her bursting tears appeared in her red eyes turned up within few seconds while she was walking. Wow, awesome . B)

Everything "seems" becoming acceptable and forgivable for Cheon Seo Jin, especially after learning her backstory. She was hoping so much from his father's caring love since young days but failed to receive it from him. All these while, his father's preaching is to make her become more competitive  (compete with her younger sister) no matter using what method, and push them to chase for the "BEST" with irrational parenting. Her upbringing background turn her into a "monster" and this monster (Cheon Seo-Jin) will continue the same of an authoritarian parenting style, forcing her daughter to follow tight schedules with little time to manage their daily lives and routines.

It is sad to see many monster parents including how Joo Dan-Tae torture his twin children when they disobey him. The only storyline about the monster parenting in this drama that I can see is more realistic (instead of the revenge part) - most monster parents look at academics before anything else regarding their children. This phenomenon will continue arises in the Asian society. The social and psychological effects are huge for their children. Monster parenting style is a vicious cycle and becomes a long-term social issue. Parenting patterns are passed down from generation to generation as we can see from Cheon Seo-Jin's father and now from herself passed down to her own daughter, and causing her mentally unstable, behave aggressively and violence to get her way.

The only way to stop this is to inject new ideas from the western culture or there is any alternative parenting style to replace it.  Western culture mostly (not all) encourages growth mindset (instead of fixed mindset) and character development (instead of academic-focus). I hope this new parenting style will spread over to Asia as widely as possible although we have already known about it, but not many parents adopting it yet due to the deep-rooted society and the increasingly competitive world.

  8.  @denira2104  how are you, my dear friend? Thanks for the sharing of the above post.

He ever mentioned in the interview that he is the type who likes to call his friends to listen to their voices, so we won't be surprised that he called her often :D. Since he is also a singer, a person who needs to have sensitivity to melody, rhythm, and the beat sound, high-low pitch sound in supporting the speech may become important to him, and probably that's the reason why he is so crazy over by her "deep sexy" voice until now. Moreover, one of the SYJ's strength is on her speech delivery which KSH admires the most (that he mentioned during the interview).

There is an interesting fact that a man who admires a woman not just because of her look, it is simply because there is something he is lacking of that  enticing him to learn more about it or attract to it, that's why he is always giving compliment to her. :D

This! I can see the appeal and attraction of JP, I like the actor and I liked the character. I teared during his scene with Grandma. BUT I really cannot see the spark with DM nor mutual attraction.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, my dear friend .

JP is a likeable and charming character in this drama, but he was being too careful in taking action when come to love, of course that was because of his backstory that he was focusing on his career most of the time. He did not do anything after 15 years later, but DS took immediate action after reading their love letters. There is an old saying, early bird catches the worms :)

Life sometimes can be filled with regrets, but he should not look back and hold on to those memories and old letters, to be honest. Sometimes, regret may have a purpose in life, it is telling us we've made a mistake or hurt someone and we need to reflect ourselves in order to improve, just like what JP did . I fully understand different individuals handle the healing of the wounds differently. Some need longer time, some can get up fast..Once he missed the train, he just have to look forward to another train that may be full of surprises. Our life can be generous, it always offer us new opportunities - already missed will soon be substituted by the non-missed yet.  I prefer the ending for HJP should be a hopeful one.

The writer may be too cruel to him to let him go back to Samsan tech team as an investor, because he truly needs some time to cut tie with them.  If don't cut tie, join them and be part of the family and the team. Alternatively, the best medicine to heal his wound is to invite a "new female celebrity" (new CEO for the start up) makes a cameo appearance in the meeting (instead of Yeo Jin-goo, Hotel del Luna) - if we want a happy ending for all...hahaha:lol::lol:

Will see you in other forum, take care

  10. What a nice wrap up ending for the final EP. A reiterated message sent across to viewers once again on "Pay it forward" spirit- grandma's kindness spread over to JP and he did the same to the new start up company for the charity to the orphanage .

All the missing gaps had filled up, including resolving the two sisters' issue and their relationship, and between IJ and grandma, DS and JP reconciliation at the end was marvellous.

I am so glad to see the growth of each character at the final EP, DS changed to a more confident, courageous and willing to take risk person, while DM developed to a more prudent person when accessing all variables before making decisions. JP became more lenient at times and used less harsh words and even gave compliments to his subordinate. The only thing is that he still has high pride in him, that he couldn't totally accept he is a loser and that he needs time to heal his wounds. I am glad that JP and DM have settled a clean cut on their feelings between them. I would prefer inviting a famous female celebrity instead of Yeo Jin-goo  (Hotel del Luna) appeared as camero in the final EP, (just like the last EP on "Itaewon class" - Park Bo-gum appeared as handsome chief in front of 2nd FL, Kwon Nara, haha) because it represented a new hope to JP that he could possibly develop a new loveline with a new character planted in since they shared the same goal: to help those orphanages in need. That would make it more meaningful. Of course, life is never fair, so sometimes, JP has to accept whatever comes to him, let it go, and move on. For me, keeping the old letters will only hold the feeling longer, I would rather have them trashed and start a new fresh one, that will make his life more fruitful.

In conclusion, I would sum up the final 2 EP based on my opinion:

    1. My best favourite scene :  when Yong-San apologised to IJ for being rude to her back on 3 years ago, and IJ answered nicely, "I take the obstacles as another opportunity to motivate me and become who I am now..."
    2. My best touching scene : JP and grandma when they hugged each other and grandma told him not to feel lonely. Grandma is the only one in his world understand his deep down feeling
    3. My best favourite character : Grandma
    4. My least favourite character : None (no one is perfect, as everyone certainly has a lesson learnt in life)
    5. The most funny character : Lee Chul-San
    6. My best favourite team : Samsan Tech Team (the trio) - their friendship are unbeatable
    7. My best favourite quote : Pay it forward
    8. My best inspirational quote : Sailing off without a map (depend on the situation to apply)

In life, there is no perfect partner, only best suitable partner, and thus I think DS is the most suitable for DM, after they went through the obstacles together . He is always morally and emotionally supporting her. I could understand why DM is hesitating when two loves come to her, she is a kind person and not willing to hurt anyone. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to love, it is only about the timing, the moment you realise someone needs you more, or you need someone more, somehow a miracle feeling happens. The best thing is they share a common goal in life, i think this is the most important for any couple when they come together. It's glad to see the happy ending for DS and DM. They will make a good couple.

The whole cast is so amazing, all of them, without the roller coaster ride with all the emotions, this drama will not be a successful and educational one. The only flaw is, too much screen time on the love triangle.

And yes, I understand that this is kdrama and to some extent JP has to be portrayed as a type-A personality mentor.  I personally don't take offense with his actions but at the same time the drama also portrayed the SamSan team to be on the extreme end of aspiring, talented but volatile entrepreneurs who did not do their homework to meet expectations of JP.

It's interesting that you brought up type A-personality. Then DM will be type B.

Let's put aside the drama, many companies including my ex Corporate Company in my home country are using DISC personality test for recruitment purpose. The personality test need to be done prior to the interview or on that actual day itself sent out by HR dept. I was told by my army friend that even the Military Defence dept also using the similar test for promotion to find out whether the applicant's traits is suitable for leadership.

God is fair, we come from different types of personality and it is important to  have the combination of type A,B,C,D-personality in the sociality or in a company as each type has it own strengths and weaknesses. Eg. We can't have all Type A in the same company, or put all type B in one place, and so on. It has to be mixed, in order to work effectively in a team work. And the keyword, "Balance" comes into play....Likewise, if you understand the Yin-Yang (陰陽) in Chinese Astrology. We can't have too much of "Yin" or "Yang", whether in our health, or in life. Everything must be in moderate or balance. This is the key secret to stay in a happy and healthy live.

If we give example for DS, viewers commented for his impulsive act, so he needs to balance between his talented brain and action, moving forward. Same for JP, he needs to balance his expertise and choice of words.

BALANCE - it's not like simple term "balance sheet" per say, it took me sometime to understand the essence and the deep profound of this meaning (not just on the surface of this word) everything in our life, in our society, in a country must be balance. Sorry for bringing you to the topic of philosophy. Hope not too boring for you and the rest....:D

While I see how some actors indeed protest when they saw the changes in the scripts and where the character is deaded, I don`t think it is the case here. Plus, So yeon is not the person to make scandal. When that happends, the actors is usual the one who leave or lost in most cases.

If So yeon accepted the script or the PD and writer point of view, why is the problem? The kissing scenes are many (I agree with that) but I don`t see how it is inappropriate for her as an actor to kiss on screen. And some people are acusing her that she doesn`t care about her husband. Why is the husband involved, like she did an imoral thing? If Uhm Ki joon would have been married we would have heard the same complaint?

People noticed that the drama is using excessively these scenes and probably the writer and PD will know that what is too much will become redundant eventually. That is my problem and not that I see her kissing on screen.

I will be happy if she will drop this drama or the writer will decide that her character is not needed. But it is a hit right now and I don`t see happening.

My dear you missed out the point :D My highlighted msg above is not meant for Penthouse case but its from the general point of view that the script generally can be adjusted if there is a pre-discussion and agreeable among the actor, PD and the writer. :) I am not referring to the case for change of script by writer without telling the actors. Of course once KSY chose to accept the script for that particular scene, she will need to follow whatever the writer/PD told her to. Her kind hearted and easy-going character will definitely fit into any working environment and not to create any chaos or scandal.

Generally, aside from the penthouse case, (not to confuse you), it really depends on the relationship among them and character traits of the writer and PD as well as the actors, whether they wish to exchange views for the sake of the drama storyline depending how open minded they are. There is no hard and fast rule or strictly based on the actor's contract signed, the script and the prepared of the scene can be open discussed and negotiated between the parties, but under the condition that both parties must be willing to talk and discuss. I learnt this from the lawyer. :)

Actors act what is on the script, they get in a role  and it is sad if they are cast or not because of their marriage status and not because of their talent.  So Yeon doesn`t want to impress the writer or PD when she is doing these scenes. She is doing these kissing scenes because they are on the script, because she has a responsibility as an actress when she signed a contract.

Not all actors are acting according to the script, the A-star and veteran actors, like KSY or other experience ones (too many to name) should be able to negotiate by discussing with the writer and PD before the start of the filming scene (we can see those often during the BTS) - it is only make sense if it can help the scenes/plot and storyline flow logically, and not overboard. Unless the actors themselves agree and accept the scene after their discussion, so it is not compulsory for the experience ones to follow accordingly to the script. (FYI, script can be amended and adjusted depend on situation and agreeable by all parties, that's why we can see some argument between them at the filming scene from the news, and either the PD resigned or actors dropped up).

It really depends on the character of the writer and PD as well as the actors, how open-mind they are if they can exchange views for the sake of the drama. Moreover, some A-star actors can even request to change script based on the necessary requirements of the storyline that are agreeable by the writer. Because I remember I had ever seen some interviews mentioning it from the experience actors. So it is not true that you mentioned above. Only the greenhorn actors are required to follow the script to act.

Actors alone can be very passive to a certain degree, it is only when the right script and the PD come in play, all these important elements can create sparks, it is exactly how the "Its Okay to not be Okay" and "The World of Married" drama became so popular in worldwide. Some movies are not well received, is because the major problem was the storyline had too many plot holes and inconsistency, it was nothing to do with actor's acting skill, it was the storyline and PD that need to play a part. Same goes to many A-star actors and actresses, if storyline is too weak, it will fully waste the talents of those actors. I have seen too many failed cases for A-star actors/actresses.

In short, a successful drama should put in place with the key essential elements, actors' skills plus the writer's good script and the PD.

  14. After reading so many expert comments, I am glad and thankful I learnt things from some of you by sharing here.

From this drama, it triggered me this thought, the keyword here is "Balance", a person needs to understand what role and responsibility he plays whether in the working environment or any situation he is in. A person who can strike balance between those, he will be a winner. Not easy.  Simple yet profound. When I was younger, I did not understand much of the profoundness of this keyword "balance", but I learnt it through life experience.

In all aspects of our lives balance is key. Doing one thing too much or keep repeating the same thing can cause upset, like the old saying goes, everything in moderation is the secret ! Everyday is a learning day !

“Balance is not better time management, but better boundary management. Balance means making choices and enjoying those choices”  - credit to ~ Betsy Jacobson. Cheers !

This is so true HJP is a good well written character but my issue is how a lot of the viewers praises him for being a great mentor and how the revenge plot as well as the whole his harsh feedback that his given to the teams at sandbox were very out of nowhere and realistic to what its like to be in the field, however his only shown to be a great mentor whenever it came to DM as he gave her great feedback and responded to a lot of her questions which is why when he questions if what he gave as feedback was to harsh as every time his given her some feedback its still less straight forward and cut throat as when his talking to others (like in the flashbacks to how he kept calling noongil a failure).  My main issue is how a lot of HJP actions don't match up to what his roll as a mentor is meant to be within in sandbox.

As someone who's been studying to be part of the industry that sst is part of just leaning more to design my uni a offers alot of mentor/ student programs that follow a similar structure to sandbox that I've been apart of its hard to imagine allowing and having a mentor like HJP as a lot of his criticism towards the team in general have been very destructive but not constructive like his commentary towards YS brother about the battery and being a fraud came up I was so annoyed at how he came to the conclusion as it wasn't a form of valid criticism when he started tearing apart YS brother as it was based on a predicted outcome that may or may not even be a future possibility and it was just tearing the product apart as well as the team but not giving anything to think on in a valid way like he could have pointed out the battery issue without the need to drag him down, even when giving feedback to SST he didn't have to constantly need to point out  how their product would fail (advice that I was once given by a tutor in my first year was that whenever giving criticism or receiving it is important to keep in mind that who we're talking to are just as human as ourselves and to be mindful of our words as they can effect others and their progress in work), it feels wrong how he only felt remorse after seeing the grandmother having to need noongil but even then there was no scene of him going to apologise to the team but instead he just reflected with DM before the grandmother scene in which she tried to validate his form of criticism as a mentor in which he was always treating her nicer because of his interest in her and his guilt about his actions only occurred after when with the grandmother but not towards the rest of the team.

So yes HJP is a good character but so far that's only shown to mainly 2 specific other characters within the drama however outside of DM and the grandmother he needs a lot of reflection on the way he receives and treats others around him the excuse that his a professional just doesn't sit right with me is because his main knowledge is based in business practices and not on tech so he doesn't have a full understanding of the software that the sst team work on in general (but the drama in general atm has shown that they aren't as focused on the logistics of the tech with how they compared SST program to In Jae's program I can't be the only one bothered by the comparison right?).

I fully understand where you are coming from and I can feel you, my dear friend.

The interesting fact is that the more viewers commented and raised emotions between hate and love for JP's and DS's characters in this drama, the more success is the writer's creating of the roles which are full of characters flaws but yet caught the attention of the viewers (whether we like it or not). I like to look at another angle to see the whole picture.

If we detach ourselves from the drama, and not too engross too much of the characters, I believe the writer's intention is to make the youth characters evolve from "bad" to a "better" person, not "bad" to a "worse" person (I hope so in the end :)) - learning thru our mistakes is part and parcel of our life.  All of them basically are kind hearted persons and they share the same goals which is "follow your dream" and "never give up no matter what".

JP's original role is a venture capitalist, not an official mentor, (remember he asked his assistant to take up the mentor shirt) but he chose to be one because he cared for DM and grandma. In other words, he may not be a certified mentor or a certified coach (as mentioned in my earlier post that he still lacked motivation and emotional support to his team, as a mentor). BUT, that doesn't stop him or anyone from becoming a better person after knowing their weaknesses and flaws, they can do a self reflection and improve further. This applies the same to DS and his SST team too.

I think we, as viewers, should not magnify the characters flaws for all of them too often (especially DS vs JP), because eventually they will back in reconciliation. Even if they finally completed the new AI apps for the medicines and become popular and successful, there are still many challenges ahead of them to continue the post-support after the launch, as there are always new, grander challenges to confront, but a true winner will embrace each challenge with his courage and determination. Fighting, my friend

I've always wonder how they control Covid-19 while filming during this Pandemic period. There is so much of kissing scene(Lips touching, don't know whether any tongue lashing ) between Joo Dan-Tae and Cheon Seo-Jin since beginning till now. Do both of them take Covid swap and how often ? I do noticed no others casts does that. WONDER ???

I have this question in my mind too for this drama, especially ML and KSY are already married, wonder her husband lee soo woo cares about that. The last drama "mother of mine", he was a bit jealous on her kissing scene with her co star. Of course I am sure they are both very professional actor. But SK is currently quite severe in covid19 cases.......

Question is : is that necessary for so many kissing scenes for both of them although we know they are in extra marital affair. I found three times aggressive kissing scenes are enough, or they can use angle to avoid it, but shown more will be overboard? "The World of Married" drama also did not have so many kissing scenes although they were in similar case, the husband got affair with other women. What you guys think?

The whole handwriting app, I believe they were alluding to E-sign facilities, already commercialized.

Thanks for sharing my dear friend. Could you enlighten me what IJ's security feature is used in military sector? I may probably miss the part in drama. 18. Everyone has a different perspective and valid points in assessing the real world. That makes the world beautiful.
As each of us handles situations in different ways, from there, we know our own strengths and weaknesses, and try our best to overcome and improve further.

Being a mentor myself, I also learnt that the choice of words is very important to others, there are just double-edged-swords, before we take on the role of mentor, we need to access the mentee profiles too in order to help guide them throughout the learning journey. Sometimes, we even request the mentees go for a psychology test of self-acceptance before the jump start of the session.

Unfortunately the drama Sandbox did not go through the pre-test for the young entrepreneurs. This psychology test is to allow participants to be kind to yourself, take comments positively, believe in yourself, accept imperfection and also accept the fact that no one judges you more than you judge yourself in terms of your life and career performance. And that need practice.

Who didn't have this fear of failure when we were young? But YS's brother showcased his weakness in this drama, he had a very low self-esteem and happened to meet JP as a judge. We all wanted our efforts to be appreciated by someone higher when we were young, wasn't it? Thus, it is supposed to be an opportunity for YS's brother to grow but he chooses to end his life early, unfortunately.

JP certainly needed to do self-reflection and of course he did that in EP12, he cried sadly in front of grandma and blamed himself for being a "bad boy" all these while. As a mentor, he provides guidance and resources, facts and data, but lacks motivation and emotional support to his team, (we all know that because of his past background). I think the writer will make him change to a better mentor in the end. He deserves a happy ending. What is the most satisfying moment for a mentor? It is the final result when the mentees (his team) achieve success once in their lifetime. A self-accomplishment for him, as a mentor.

The story is quite fair, no one is perfect, (not even DM and her grandma), a good and painful lesson learnt for JP and SSTech team, but also a good turning point for them to grow further.

The story has repeated a few times : Follow your dream.  The end result is achieving our dream, but I cherish more on the learning journey be it tangible or intangible one as it brings the impacts in our daily life, especially moving to a digitised world.

  19. It is a good learning curve and lesson learnt for the young entrepreneur for this EP. In my opinion, who didn't fail before they turn into a successful company one day, look at bill gate and steve job, they failed many many times before they become who they are now. No human ever became interesting by not failing. The more we fail and recover and improve, the better we are as a person and the same goes to the company as teamwork.

They have to learn the hard way, to differentiate the acquisition and partnership the actual meaning in the contract law.

Although it seems sad in the EP, I quite like the idea to make the young team fall and later they will raise again. I had personally met some accountants and the young start up team that they had shared the same bad experience before they became a successful business men/women. For me, it is indeed a good turning point for them to learn the hard way and to appreciate the lesson learnt.

The emotion and impulsive are the killing part for this young team, they forgot being cautious and stay prudent before signing the contract or look up for 2nd opinion. Of course this drama made it purposeful in this manner, but the failure is simply the opportunity to begin again , and this time they will be more intelligently thru this learning curve.

It's quite common to see the conflicts between them in EP 11 or 12 and later reconciliation at the end.  I like this writer to make it this way so that we will see the young team raise up again probably in last EP? Let's see :)

  20. From the drama, we have seen these 3 main lead characters development (except Injae) showing their flaws and weaknesses that reflected closer to reality. It's like a twist of fate for 3 of them.

In front of love, we can become selfish, who don't want to restrain themselves when they finally fall for a woman or a man whom he/she loves deeply.

Sometimes we are caught in the net of fate and pushed to seemingly absurd positions which you could see both men can do everything for their women out of love. But they both forgot that they have made decisions on their own without discussing with DM. This applied the same for grandma who made her own decision without realising the three people suffering later because of her white lies. Sometimes, a good intention can lead to an unintentional outcome.

@Sleepy Owl - JP has a soft spot, he can be tough in exterior, but he became soft when he faced grandma and DM. He reacted impulsively suddenly to the grandma at the scene was because he wanted to trash it out his feeling while grandma still wanted him to continue covering the white lies which is unfair to him. DM found JP at the buildhouse was a good start, because the truth was finally revealed to her as I do not wish to see the plot getting draggy about the lies withholding.

I agreed with you that the story is DM-centered, these two men that appeared in her life journey is important to her at least for a start-up, in my opinion. If the story is talking about a woman who struggles alone very hard all by herself to achieve her dream one day, then these two men become insignificant in the storyline, they can be just a supporting role, but the writer made these two male leads important to her, at least in her career life, but now even involving in her love life. I am using analogy "lighthouse and float board in the ocean" is because in our lifetime, we need a mentor or a soul mate who can guide us in the right path or walk together with us in the journey be it fail or succeed. But then, lighthouse and float board can be chip off due to wear and tear, and that need repair. Same for human, are the two men in perfect characters, no they are not. They have their own strengths and weaknesses and flaws. Both need to grow and develop further to become a better person in their life journey, likewise to our female lead, DM. I guess this is what the writer's intention. However, the writer has missed out Injae self growth and development.

But there were two things that this drama brought out the key messages:

    1. Everything is about Timing
    2. Pay it forward

If the story ending is to allow DM to be a successful entrepreneur, I hope she will become a mentor in Sandbox, apply the "pay it forward " spirit - become a lighthouse to the new batch of younger generation who aspire to start up a company in Sandbox, she will be strong enough to resist any kind of storm and loneliness that she went through, of course, she will have the powerful light insider her, i know she will in the end (this is to prove of her self-growth). Whether she will end up with anyone, it is no longer significant, the message has to be encouraging and meaningful in the end. B)

well if you put this together jipyeong is sandbox for dalmi, dosan is dalmi swing

Thanks for sharing the above interesting article. I agreed with that. Both men are so important to her now.

Basically there are three key roles of 3"C" reflecting the mentor-mentee relationship - Consultant, Counselor, Cheerleader. So which role JP is playing now? I don't think he is playing the cheerleader role yet since his status is still at VC, but if given a chance, may be he will. He has crossed the border because he has fall for DM too. But It would be ideal to have both men DS and JP assist her in achieving her success.

JP, as a Mentor, is just like a lighthouse in the sea, he has the strong ability and enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge, expertise and guidelines tips (e.g. helping her to write up a sale script/pitch), and giving her honest and direct feedback. While DS is like a float board in the ocean, he is always there for her to support her and let her lean on him whenever she felt tired or sad (she needs him, not only his big hand, she needs his broad shoulder too). In our life journey, it is so hard to give up on anyone who is always there to take care and support us wholeheartedly.

Unfortunately, she has to go with her heart to pick one even though we know who she will choose in the end.

I want the trio to be happy ending, the two men turn into bromance relationship, instead of rival. I wish to see more plots on the investment progress for Samtech and Injae Company on sandbox.

The plus points for this drama, it is so funny to watch the two between Lee Chul-San and Jung Sa-Ha at the raining scene using the umbrella and the confession of love scene - those were comical.

  22. As the story moved on, I enjoyed very much of the start-up process more than the triangle love. In theory, we understand the process of setting up a new company, but this drama made it so realistic that I have to applause the writer's detailed work. It emphasized on the importance of  CEO's role and responsibility, the prototype test in several attempts, the new apps that required users' reviews and number of downloading from users, plus the funding required from CSR (proposed by HJP)-- it is exactly how the software team work on this initial process.

The only thing that I dislike about the writer was making the loveline too complicated but it seems like unavoidable in all kdrama. To be frank, DM is such a lucky girl that surrounded by her grandma's love since young and received love from both men who are constantly helping her in difficult times. Despite their flaws, they are amazing in their own ways, and will continue help her develop into a successful and confident CEO in future. I hope the writer will turn these two men into a bromance relationship. Don't fight because of jealousy, it doesn't help in the growth.

One is her comrade, one is her mentor, how fortunate she is and she is always full of gratitude, so which one will she choose, it doesn't matter to me anymore, what I want to see is their journey that they spent time together, help one another to solve problems together during their challenging time. Accomplishments will prove to be a journey, not a destination.

This drama is full of inspiration and reflection of reality at the same time- it paints a HOPE, a DREAM for all young entrepreneurs, with the positives vibre, perseverance and determination, the dream will soon come true.

I hope the writer did not deviate the original intent and focus too much on loveline, because there should be more substance in the storyline. :)

How are you, my dear chingu.:)

Villain role can be many types, not necessary must be in Sociopathic and psychopathic criminals, or similar to his role in REAL movie. Of course that also depends on the right script whether it is best fit for KSH. Did you notice that all his past drama or movie seldom repeated the same character role for him? Keep challenging oneself doesn't mean have to repeat the same thing or close to it. Good Actors are supposed to be versatile and dynamics.

I would like to share the below quote :

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." - credit to Albert Einstein

If we want different results than what you're getting, we have to try different approaches. Yes, you are right, he is perfectionist, and often wish to achieve better result whenever possible. Actors alone can be very passive, it is only when the right script and the PD come in play, all these important elements can create sparks, it is exactly how the IONTBO drama became so popular in worldwide. About the Real movie not so well received, i read from the review that commented the major problem was the storyline had too many plot holes and inconsistency, it was nothing to do with KSH's acting skill, it was the storyline and PD that need to play a part.

I am not sure if you watch the "Stranger season 1" and "Stranger season 2", the whole cast and scripts are highly praised and that they will likely be coming up for "Stranger season 3" in the near future.

  24. @denira2104 Thanks for the post. It is good to have someone who has long relationship with KSH who commented on both actors. His comments were more genuine with positive feedback. The CEO also mentioned about their "timing" and "ability" to succeed.

Below is my earlier comments for KSH on other forum:

I only got to know more about KSH after his latest drama IONTBO. I am not his long time fan but  his irresistible charm and charisma traits has attracted new viewer like me begin to like him, especially after learning his upbringing background and watching his latest drama.

There are few key events that had inspired me from his past - he came from a poor family, a shy person but never gave up trying to overcome his shyness. It took him numerous struggles (at least 4 attempts) before he could enter university, and later overcame his heart problem by doing extra exercises in order to become a fit and healthy person as a military soldier (he did not want to be exempted by military because of his heart problem). His determination and perseverance to succeed had inspired me alot. His words of wisdom from the bowling game when someone asked, he simply replied, "Just practice it regularly, there is no easy way out, I will only compete with myself". His words reminded me that life is a journey, not a competition. His act reminded me of someone in a hollywood movie called, "Forrest Gump" : keep on running, keep on moving, no matter how long the journey it takes, it will reach a destination. When we see KSH so successful at his young age, we never know what was his journey before, as people only look at outcome, without seeing through his struggling all these while.

In our career, it is never easy to show "consistency peak performance in many years", especially in this competitive entertainment world, to stay on top of the rest, one must struggle a lot to "maintain" it.

In my opinion, I don't think he should take up the similar role in the new drama called "FINGER" which is a korean version of  "American Psycho" movie, since he had done the "REAL" movie which was not a perfect storyline in that movie. I guess the new villain role may be similar as the actor Kim Jae-wook acted in VOICE. Some actors can wait for many years just to get one script of his dream, i am sure he has many opportunities to choose from a role to act : A single young father, A handicapped person, A strong villain role like rich tycoon. A "personality disorder" doctor, An ambitious captain pilot, A radio DJ, etc. To add value to the character role, the story scripts & writer/PD have to be good so that the character development is able to shine in the story.

Why I mentioned about DJ role is because he has lack of this skill as compared to SYJ who is excellent in her speech and perfect tone reading. I went back to listen their recorded greeting speech that sent to his co-star in IONTBO, Kim Chang-wan (Hospital director Oh)- KSH had "pause fillers" on his speech (probably due to nervous) while SYJ was very smooth and steady in her recording speech. He is the person who is keen to challenge himself very often, I hope he will find one day to do this, even with SYJ to be appeared in cameo on one of the Ep.

Anyway, I wish both all the best in their career, continuing shining in many years. B)

PS : i have this sudden idea that both KSH and SYJ should act in a "007 James Bond" movie or drama in thriller or comedy genre.
