Hyun Bin and Kang Dong Won Reportedly Considering Signing on With Chinese Agency

lyAvNNd.jpg

It seems that Hyun Bin may possibly be considering signing on to a Chinese entertainment agency.

On November 21, a representative from Hyun Bin’s current label, O& Entertainment, stated, “There’s a rumor going around that Hyun Bin was offered a large sum of money to sign on with a certain agency in China. There has been no contact or discussion of any kind with this agency.”

The representative continued, “Hyun Bin’s current contract expires next month, but he’s currently in talks to renew it.”

Hyun Bin isn’t the only one, either; actor Kang Dong Won‘s contract with O& is also set to expire at the end of next month. One industry insider said, “It’s been mentioned that one Chinese entertainment company offered Kang Dong Won upwards of 10 billion won to recruit him. It’s been explained as the so-called ‘blank cheque contract,’ meant to bring these stars to the Chinese market.”

What do you think of the situation?

- Kang Dong-won, on the point of contact with the public

Kang Dong-won starred in a movie every 6 months last year but there was a gap between him and the audience every time. He closed this gap with "The Priests" this year. The ironic thing is that the subject of the movie isn't commercial but managed to bring about a 'Kang Dong-won Syndrome'.

Kang Dong-won starred in the JTBC "News Room" for the first time in 11 years on TV. He broke out a sweat as he was nervous, but his movie is now on the verge of breaking through 4.5 million audiences.

'The Priests,' most-viewed Korean film released in Nov. ever

2015/11/29 17:43

SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Yonhap) -- A Korean exorcism film set a record as the top-selling Korean film that opened in November of all time, data showed Sunday.

"The Priests" starring heartthrob Kang Dong-won hit about 4.82 million in attendance as of Saturday, the highest number of viewers for any Korean film that has opened in November, according to data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC).

November is a traditional off-season for movie theaters in South Korea.

The previous record was 4,801,527 for the documentary film "My Love, Don't Cross That River."

But the success of "The Priests" is meaningful in that it opened in early November, while the documentary film had achieved most of its success in December, a high season, since it was released on Nov. 27 last year, the new film's distributor CJ Entertainment said.

Directed by Jang Jae-hyun and also starring Kim Yoon-seok, "The Priests" follows a Catholic priest and deacon who perform an exorcism to save a girl possessed by an evil spirit.

Another Korean film "Inside Men" surpassed 3 million in attendance on Saturday, the 10th day of its run, according to the KOFIC data.

This was the shortest period taken by a R-rated movie to reach the milestone, one day faster than 11 days for "Tazza: The High Rollers" in 2006.

"Inside Men" depicts the spider web-like relationships among South Korean politicians, journalists and political hoodlums.

Actor Lee Byung-hun stars as a gangster seeking revenge against a politician who disowned him after the henchman is caught carrying a record of the politician's slush fund.

The Priests cast take celebration pictures for 5 million ticket sales mark

Posted by: Steven , December 3, 2015

This post is also available in: Chinese (Simplified), Korean

The fresh new story which takes a new angle on the genre, has generated a lot of interest. This is proven by it surpassing the 5 million tickets sales mark, this Thursday December 3rd. The Priests is directed by Jang Jae-hyun, produced by Zip Cinema and distributed by CJ Entertainment.

In the first three days of its release, The Priests sold 1 million tickets. It sold a total of 2 million tickets seven days after its release, 3 million 10 days after, and 4 million 16 days after. And now finally movie goes have pushed it to over 5 million tickets sold, on December 3rd. This is a new record in the Korean movie industry, to sell over 5 million tickets with a November release.

Kim Yoon-seok and Kang Dong-won decided to commemorate the break through, by taking a photo to thanks that fans for their enthusiasm.

The Priests’ Kiim Yoon-seok signing his message with the name Dondoni (돈돈이).

Dondoni is the name of Kim Yoon-seok’s ‘Piggy’ bank. The message reads, “We broke 5 million! Enjoy the end of your year my watching The Priests!! Sincerely Dondoni”.

Here is Kang Dong-won fulfilling his duty.

He portrays the complicated emotion of Deacon Choi perfectly. Kang Dong-won is currently shooting another movie in Jeollanam-do. So he wrote the number 500 in the sand at the beach, for his celebration shot.

The Korean counting system goes to 10,000, before repeating the initial counters on top of new ones. English does this from 1000, eg ten-thousand. Because of this, the number is Korean is 500-10,000s. Hence why the actors are writing 500, to celebrate the 5 million-ticket mark.

South Korean film industry ends year strong with domestic pics
source : The  Korea Times By Tae Hong

It seems South Korea’s film industry is ending its already-lucrative year on a high note with the box office success of films “The Priests” and “Inside Men.”
According to Yonhap, distributor CJ Entertainment said Thursday that “The Priests” had surpassed five million ticket sales this week, becoming the first Korean film released in the month of November to do so.
The film stars two top talents, Kim Yoon-seok and Kang Dong-won, as priests who use exorcism on a young, possessed girl.
Meanwhile, “Inside Men,” which also boasts an A-list cast comprising Lee Byung-hun and Jo Seung-woo, has drawn more than four million to theaters as of Wednesday, an impressive feat for an R-rated pic.
In “Inside Men,” a newspaper editor, a prosecutor and a politician fight in a battle for revenge, power and success.
Last week, the Korean Film Council said Korean films had drawn more than 100 million people to domestic theaters for the fourth record-breaking year in a row.
Among this year’s notable hits were “Veteran,” “Assassination” and “Sado,” which all contributed to about $676 million in revenue from a total of 229 South Korean films.

Kang Dong Won's visual

December 20, 2015

Pann: Kang Dong Won is living alone in this world

1. [+91, -0] I don't feel anything when I see idols that are considered handsome but I think Kang Dong Won is really handsome... He's unfair.

r6WDAKN.gif

2. [+86, -0] He has a flower boy's face but it doesn't look feminine or delinquent-ish. He's pretty but he also has masculinity. I don't know how to describe it ㅋㅋ He's warmly and coldly handsome, such an ideal face.

3. [+85, -0] Look at him being fascinated at Chinese mics ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

tS4TeUZ.gif

4. [+74, -0] I saw him in real life and he was so handsome and skinny. But he wasn't skinny like an anchovy. He has a big body and broad shoulders. God tuna...

5. [+48, -0] I wonder who'll end up marrying Kang Dong Won... She must've achieved world peace in her previous life ㅠㅠ

6. [+46, -0] He's likeable because his improvements are evident. His acting was so-so in Temptation of Wolf and I thought he was all about his visual. But his acting started to improve since Maundy Thursday and his acting was really stable in Secret Reunion. In The Priests, his acting is good. He's still doing more projects, his proportions are a celebrity's, and I can see that he likes acting. He improved a lot because he worked hard on it. So likeable.

7. [+43, -1] Jung Woo Sung, Won Bin, Jang Dong Gun, and Hyun Bin are merely handsome but Kang Dong Won is handsome and cute ㅠㅠ

8. [+41, -0] He has three films to be released ㅠㅠㅠㅠ He's handsome but I also like how he likes and enjoys acting. He's the first celebrity that I liked... I've been following him for 7 years ㅠㅠ I like him so much.

9. [+36, -0] I don't feel his age because he looks the same as before but this picture hits me hard... The boy is Yoo Seung Ho. He hasn't changed at all.

qbERNch.jpg

10. [+29, -0] I honestly envy Kang Dong Won the most. He doesn't lack anything. He has great proportions. He has prettiness, sharpness, and masculinity in his face. His eyes are no joke. His family is rich. He's good at exercising and singing. What doesn't he have? I wish he's gay so that I can feel better ㅋㅋ
