Character descriptions

Yoo Ah Young (Jung In Sun)  is an employee of a publishing company that was trapped in a novel. She aspires to be a novelist that's why she started working in the publishing company. Yoo Ah Young risked her life to save her crush Song Woo Bin who became the target of a serial killer. 

Song Woo Bin (Lee Ji Hoon) is a man who got trapped in a novel. He is the boss of the publishing company. One day, he was invited to check a mysterious novel by an author and suddenly became the target of a serial killer.

Park Hyun Joo (Kim Jae Kyung) is a serial killer who gets her victims through her deadly beauty. Because of her magical charm that cannot be resisted, she is summoned to be in the novel.

Cheon Mun Hwan (Jung Jin woon)  he was born into a rich family and has everything he wants and needs except for love. He only has his eyes on Yoo Ah Young. When Yoo Ah Young shared that her ideal type is someone diligent, Cheon Mun Hwan then decided to become a police officer. He is also the one who will chase the author of the mysterious novel.

Lee Ji Hoon in Talks to Lead a New Fantasy K-Drama "Grand Shining Hotel"

Lee Ji Hoon will reportedly lead the upcoming TVING fantasy K-drama Grand Shining Hotel.

Media outlet OSEN reported on August 31st that Lee Ji Hoon will be the one to lead the upcoming fantasy K-drama Grand Shining Hotel. 

According to reports, Lee Ji Hoon already received the script from the production team of the K-drama and the actor is positively reviewing the offer. 

Grand Shining Hotel will be the next project of director Myung Hyun Woo and writer Park Se Hyung. The upcoming series will revolve around a man who has been sucked into a virtual world of a horror novel. 

Lee Ji Hoon got the offer to play the main lead role. 

According to reports, Grand Shining Hotel will begin filming next month and it will premiere both on tvN and the OTT platform, TVING.

 

 

This will possibly be the second upcoming K-drama of Lee Ji Hoon. The actor is also set to star in the new Disney+ series Royal Loader with Lee Jae Wook, Hong Su Zu, and Lee Jun Young. 

Lee Ji Hoon recently starred in the film My Worst Neighbor with KARA's Han Seung Yeon, Go Gyu Pil, Kim Yoon Sung, Lee Yoo Joon, and Jung Ae Yun. He will also lead the upcoming movie Under Your Bed. 

It was also reported today that actor Lee Ji Hoon is looking for a new agency once again. Reports stated that the actor terminated his exclusive contract with Enter7 today.

Lee Ji Hoon and Jung In Sun are both in talks to lead the upcoming TVING K-drama Grand Shining Hotel.

According to media outlet OSEN on September 22, Lee Ji Hoon and Jung In Sun have been picked to lead the fantasy K-drama Grand Shining Hotel. It was also shared that both the actors already received the script and they are positively considering the casting offer.

Grand Shining Hotel will be the next work of director Myung Hyun Woo and writer Park Se Hyung. The K-drama will be produced by Studio Dragon. 

The upcoming fantasy series will tell the story of a man who accidentally entered a fictional world through a horror novel. 

In the reports, it was revealed that Lee Ji Hoon received the offer to portray the role of the man who will enter the horror novel. Jung In Sun on the other hand got the offer to be the woman who will get entangled with him.  

If both Lee Ji Hoon and Jung In Sun confirm their appearance, this will be their next project together. The two were also part of the 2016 K-drama Mirror of the Witch. Although the two were together in that K-drama, they didn't have many scenes together.

According to reports, Grand Shining Hotel is already filming and the K-drama will both premiere on tvN and the OTT platform, TVING.

Lee JI Hoon recently signed under P&B Entertainment. This will possibly be the second upcoming K-drama of Lee Ji Hoon. The actor is also set to star in the new Disney+ series Royal Loader with Lee Jae Wook, Hong Su Zu, and Lee Jun Young.

The upcoming K-drama Grand Shining Hotel announced its official cast lineup.

On January 17, tvN confirmed that Lee Ji Hoon, Jung In Sun, Rainbow's Kim Jae Kyung, and 2 AM's Jung Jin Woon will lead the upcoming horror romance K-drama Grand Shining Hotel.

Grand Shining Hotel will be part of the joint tvN and TVING "O'PENING series" project in which seven new writers will be working on the K-dramas. Grand Shining Hotel will be directed by Myung Hyun Woo (My Man Is Cupid and Live) and the script will be penned by Park Se Hyun. It will be produced by Like M Company Movie Rock.

In-seon Jeong, when she woke up, she became the main character in a novel?

 

 

The series (planned by CJ ENM/produced by Studio Dragon) is a joint tvN x TVING drama project composed of works by new writers that stand out for their free form and novel attempts. Among them, 'Grand Shining Hotel' (written by Park Se-hyeon/directed by Myung Hyun-woo/produced by Like M Company Movie Rock) is a story about a woman trapped in a novel chasing a mysterious author who controls everything in order to save a man who has become the target of a serial killer. draw Director Myung Hyun-woo, who co-directed the dramas 'Search', 'Secret Forest 2', 'The Man Who Became King', and 'Live', and CJ ENM's new storyteller support project 'O'PEN', won the contest. It raises expectations that writer Park Se-hyeon will work together to show the charm of mystery metafiction.

 

In the play, Jeong In-seon plays the role of ‘Yoo Ah-yeong’, a publishing employee and aspiring novelist who finds herself trapped in a novel, and seeks to transform her acting. In the midst of this, a 15-second teaser video is released in which Jeong In-seon is trapped in a novel at the invitation of someone, capturing her attention.

 

The released teaser video begins with a mysterious person wearing a raincoat running somewhere under heavy rain. In particular, she is rushing up the stairs as if there is no time to waste, which increases curiosity about the situation and the identity of the character, while also providing a sense of urgency that you cannot take your eyes off.

 

Among these, attention is drawn to a mysterious laptop with a suspicious mark drawn on it. It is a mysterious laptop that automatically writes novels. In particular, Jeong In-seon is summoned to the ‘Grand Shining Hotel’, a place in the novel whose antique appearance catches the eye, with the copy “Someone invited me into a novel,” attracting attention.

Jung In-sun gets trapped in a novel’s Grand Shining Hotel

A teaser is out for tvN’s Lunar New Year drama special Grand Shining Hotel, a horror-fantasy starring Jung In-sun (Let Me Be Your Knight) and Lee Ji-hoon (Sponsor).

The premise is a juicy one. Yoo Ah-young (Jung In-sun) is a publishing employee and aspiring novelist who somehow ends up trapped inside a horror novel. If that wasn’t scary enough, her boss and secret work crush Song Woo-bin (Lee Ji-hoon) is also trapped with her and now the target of an in-universe serial killer. To save their hides, Ah-young is going to have to sleuth not only how to escape, but also who is this mysterious author with a vendetta against her boss.

 

 

The teaser gives us a peek into the foreboding setting. In the midst of rainy nights and mysterious laptops, the opening text tells us “someone invited me into a novel.” We then see our writer Ah-young as she clicks a button on her laptop and finds herself in front of the Grand Shining Hotel. She’s flabbergasted at her situation, and unfortunately — if the way she’s being manhandled by thugs and hotel security is any indication — she’s not having a Grand Shining time. We end the teaser on an ominous voiceover where Woo-bin asks Ah-young, “Did you succeed?”

Although they aren’t pictured in the teaser, the supporting cast also includes Kim Jae-kyung (Again My Life), an in-novel jazz singer with lethal charms, and Jung Jin-woon (Midnight Thriller), Ah-young’s police officer friend who has a crush on her.

Can I just say I am PUMPED for another entry into my favorite, yet niche drama plot trope of people being sucked into alternate storybook worlds? My fingers are crossed this story holds up next to genre greats like Extraordinary You and W-Two Worlds.

Written by Park Se-hyun and directed by Myung Hyun-woo (My Man is Cupid), Grand Shining Hotel will air on tvN on February 11, and be available for streaming on TVING on February 10.

Life and death stakes at the Grand Shining Hotel

In the latest teaser for TVING’s thriller drama special Grand Shining Hotel, we get a better look at the storybook world that entraps its residents, and how Jung In-sun (Let Me Be Your Knight) will have to overcome many dangers to save the people she loves.

The teaser opens on our premise: there’s a magical laptop that sucks its users into a novel and writes them into the story. Aspiring writer Yoo Ah-young (Jung In-sun) suspects this is what happened to her work-crush boss Song Woo-bin, played by Lee Ji-hoon (Sponsor), so she’s determined to get into the novel and rescue him, even if it means stealing police cars and kung-fu kicking housekeeping workers in the process.

 

However, once she’s in, she comes to realize the novel’s grave predicament. Not only has Woo-bin completely forgotten his life outside the book, he’s also now in love with the femme fatale Park Hyun-joo, played by Kim Jae-kyung (Again My Life), who Ah-young recognizes as a real-world serial killer that disappeared on her way to prison. Based on some shots of Hyun-joo stabbing a man, we see she’s clearly kept her seductive, murderous instinct in the novel, putting Woo-bin in danger.

 

 

And if that wasn’t enough of a pickle, turns out another person Ah-young knows has also found his way into the novel: police officer Moon Myung-hwan, played by Jung Jin-woon (Midnight Thriller). In the real world he’s Ah-young’s old friend with an unrequited torch, but in the novel he’s Ah-young’s loving husband and the father of her character’s two children. In some brief scenes, we see him being smitten with her, asking what their relationship in the real world is like: “I don’t want to live in a world where you and I are strangers.” He may only be the second lead but I’m already on his ship.

With the stakes in place, it’s time for Ah-young to blow the roof on this story, culminating in fights, threats at gunpoint, and — in the climactic final scene — driving off a cliff with Hyun-joo in Ah-young’s attempt to “finish this story already.”

Written by Park Se-hyun and directed by Myung Hyun-woo (My Man is Cupid), Grand Shining Hotel will air on tvN on February 11, and be available for streaming on TVING on February 10.

A writer enters the world of a novel to save her boss from a serial killer. Full of twists and turns, TVING’s Grand Shining Hotel goes for a lighthearted take on an otherwise thriller-esque story.

Our heroine, the bubbly YOO AH-YOUNG (Jung In-sun), is a publishing assistant at Taco Publishing (a company name that is both unintentionally hilarious and never explained). She has big dreams of becoming a bestselling writer, but despite shopping around her manuscripts for publication, she’s found no takers. Thankfully for now, she’s happy enough getting a steady paycheck and regular opportunities to check out her workplace crush, the friendly manager SONG WOO-BIN (Lee Ji-hoon). He’s hardworking, handsome, and supportive of Ah-young’s writer dreams — a true triple threat. It’s no wonder Ah-young’s a goner.

But it’s a tough time to be Woo-bin. Today was supposed to be the day his immensely popular novelist, the mysterious Rebekah, attended a fan meeting for her latest bestseller, The Grand Shining Hotel. However, when Rebekah never arrived, things quickly devolved into a screaming match of disappointed fans.

 

To resolve this PR crisis, Woo-bin drove out to Rebekah’s home to speak with the reclusive author. But what should’ve been a simple work trip becomes another cat-and-mouse chase when Woo-bin also goes AWOL, and her boss decides that Ah-young has to go find him.

There’s about a million other things she’d rather do than leave all her work to drive out to a town she hasn’t been to in ten years, but the threat of Woo-bin’s job on the line and the possibility that he’s out there dating the rumored-to-be-hot Rebekah is enough to convince her to make the trip.

And who else should she run into upon arriving but her old friend MOON MYUNG-HWAN (Jung Jin-woon), a smiley police officer who after all these years is thrilled to see her. There’s an undercurrent of complicated history between these two — a little too awkward on Ah-young’s end for them to have just been friends, and is that a hint of wistfulness I detect in Myung-hwan’s voice?

But there’s no time to dwell on the subtext of their meeting, or the nature of their former relationship. Ah-young is a woman on a mission! She finally manages to get a hold of Woo-bin’s cell, only to find on the other end a restaurant owner who says that Woo-bin disappeared without paying for his food. Checking the CCTV only shows something even more unexplainable: one second Woo-bin is there, the next second he’s gone.

Looking for answers, Ah-young drives out to Rebekah’s house, only to find a sickly, furtive-looking grandma who tells her Woo-bin never came by, even though Ah-young can see the gift he bought for Rebekah on the counter.

 

Lucky for Ah-young, her two hoobaes, the alien conspiracy theorist LEE TAE-MIN (Jung Yong-joo) and the dark web expert AHN SO-JIN (Ju Ah), are working the case back in Seoul. They call Ah-young with some intel they found from another dark web user Berlin 1004. Apparently, there have been other cases of people suddenly disappearing, and it all traces back to a laptop that has the ability to write novels by itself, sucking in real-world people as characters.

So when Grandma suddenly passes out on the floor, Ah-young takes the opportunity to snoop around the house — instead of, you know, calling an ambulance. Sure enough, in Rebekah’s office she finds an open laptop auto-typing a manuscript, and when she takes a closer look, she recognizes the name of the protagonist: Song Woo-bin, aspiring author at the Grand Shining Hotel.
