Lee SooHyuk, Lee DaHee, and OH MY GIRL's Arin have been confirmed to play the leading roles in the K-Drama adaptation of "S Line". Lee SooHyuk will play Han JiWook, a detective who seeks the truth behind the mysterious appearance of the S Line, Lee DaHee will play GyuJin, a high school teacher, and Arin will play HyunHeup, a high school student. The cast is expected to show unique chemistry and elevate the quality of the show.

 

 

There has never been a better time for fans of webtoons and K-Dramas. The list of popular, beloved webtoons being adapted into K-Dramas grows longer by the day, and the latest addition to the same is "S Line" by NOMABI, also known as Little Bee or Ggomabi (꼬마비) in Korean. It is by the same author who created "Murder DIEary", another webtoon that is getting a K-Drama adaptation by Netflix. In fact, both webtoons are considered to belong to a trilogy called the "Death Trilogy" and characters from "Murder DIEary" make appearances in the "S Line" webtoon as well. At the time of writing, the leading role for the K-Drama adaptation of the webtoon "S Line" has reportedly been offered to Lee SooHyuk. While we wait for more details, let's take a look at the original webtoon, shall we?

 

 

"S Line" is set in a world where every individual has visible red lines connecting them to anyone they have shared sexual intimacy with. These lines suddenly appeared one day and changed the course of society, unleashing sheer chaos whereby one's "line count" makes them subject to judgment, harassment, ostracization, and so on. As these lines cannot be removed at any cost (unless either party passes away), people wear helmets to hide their faces, take photographs while avoiding the head, and the top of the head of public figures are not filmed so as to avoid scandals. As the private is made public, anarchy reigns supreme as institutions fall to ruins, relationships are destroyed, and society turns to shambles.

 

 

The webtoon is essentially a glaring satire or a critique of society and, despite its controversial themes, garnered high praise and attention from readers. The omnibus format allows the narrative to explore issues of chastity, marriage, religion, the justice system, celebrity life, sexual assault, and other heavy subject matter. As such, the webtoon is not recommended for readers under the age of 18. Trigger warnings include sexual exploitation, abuse, murder, and suicide.

While we know that Lee SooHyuk has been offered to lead the K-Drama adaptation of "S Line", it is unclear which character he would be playing. As there is no singular "male protagonist" and the webtoon follows an episodic "anthology" format, it will be interesting to see the approach the K-Drama adaptation will take. It is also possible and quite likely that the adaptation will pick up particular storylines instead of adapting all of them. We can expect creative freedom in that regard.

The webtoon “S Line” was created by the writer “kkomabi”. It combines the everyday and the extraordinary, and shows a variety of human portraits. One day, a “red line” visible to the naked eye appeared on the top of the human head, and the other end of the line was connected to someone who had had a physical relationship with him. The original work vividly and realistically depicts the dark side of being ashamed to see others, and the social phenomenon that emerged after being forced to be exposed overnight, and has been well received by readers.

Previously, it was reported that Lee Soo Hyuk will be the leading actor in the drama version. He is currently filming TVING’s new drama “Queen U”, cooperating with Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Moo Yeol, Ji Chang Wook, Jung Yu Mi, Park Ji Hwan and others.

Oh My Girl's Arin got the offer to star alongside Lee Soo Hyuk in the upcoming webtoon-based K-drama S Line.

On September 1, various media outlets shared that Arin will be joining Lee Soo Hyuk in the upcoming K-drama  S Line.

Arin's agency WM Entertainment shared their side regarding the news. According to the agency, "Arin received the proposal and she is currently reviewing the offer."

If Arin decides to join S Line, this will be her follow-up K-drama after the 2022 series Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow. This will also possibly be her fourth K-drama project since her debut. 

Arin has starred in the K-dramas The World of My 17 and Alchemy of Souls. She also made her debut in movies in 2022 through the film Seoul Ghost Stories. 

This year, Arin also participated in the tvN one-act play tvN O'PENing: Summer, Love Machine Blues with Go Soo, Yoon Jong Bin, Yoon Jae Chan, Park Young Soo, and Kim Tae Moon.

Aside from acting, Arin is active in all the activities of her group, Oh My Girl.

 

 

S Line will base its story on the webtoon of the same name created by a famous cartoonist named Little Bee.

Rookie actor Lee Kwang Hee has been chosen to be Oh My Girl Arin's classmate in the upcoming K-drama S Line.

According to media outlet SportsNews on September 5, Lee Kwang Hee will join the cast of the upcoming fantasy K-drama S Line. 

Lee Kwang Hee's agency AtsuroiENT also confirmed that the rising actor is participating in the upcoming series. 

S Line will reveal the story when a red line that is also known as the S line, appears above people's heads and leads people who have relationships regardless of time and place. The story will be adapted from the webtoon of the same name by cartoonist Little Bee.

The upcoming K-drama will be led by Lee Soo Hyuk, Lee Da Hee, and Oh My Girl member Arin.

Lee Kwang Hee will play the role of Jun Sun. He is the classmate of Arin's character Hyeon Hyeop. He is known as the smart kid in the class. He is close and has a romantic interest in Hyeon Hyeop.

A new fantasy-thriller called S Line is on the horizon for 2024 and the main lineup has been announced, with Lee Soo-hyuk (Tomorrow), praise be, in the starring role alongside Lee Da-hee (Island).

The softy that I am wished for a rom-com, but it will be a treat to see both Lees tackle the tangled world of S Line. With the former playing our free-spirited and truth-seeking police detective Han Ji-wook, the latter presumably will be joining his investigations as the quirky high school teacher Kyu Jin.

 

The problem at hand, though, is akin to a widespread pandemic with a significant impact on social culture. On one sudden day, the world woke up to find the sun overtaken by a massive obstruction in the sky, creating a dense weave of criss-crossed red lines. Even stranger is that the ends of these long lines are rooted out of people’s heads, literally connecting them to every person they’ve had sexual relations with. The story then follows our characters in the panic and chaos that ensues.

Also in a main role, Arin (Alchemy of Souls 2) takes on the part of high school student Hyun Heub. But curiously, she is someone who has been able to see the red lines since birth. Although it isn’t stated, I’d be surprised if this didn’t affect her personal relationships with others, and it’ll be interesting to see how her love line will play out with fellow classmate Lee Kwang-hee (Love Class 2) having a crush on her.

Based on the popular webtoon by the acclaimed Ggomabi, the cartoonist is also well known for Murder DIEary, which is being adapted into a drama on Netflix and is expected to release in 2024 as well.

For S Line, the plan is to complete post-production by the end of this year, with both writing and directing helmed by Ahn Joo-young.
