Acing job interviews with Jung Eun-ji’s alter ego Lee Jung-eun

by solstices

news-p.v1.20240531.7a45922452aa4b818256e

More body-switching hijinks have arrived with the latest teaser for JTBC’s The Woman Who is Different by Day and Night, featuring the inexplicable magic of our dual-identity heroine. Morphing into an older persona when she wakes up, and returning to her true self as night falls, it’s all she can do to adjust to her life-altering transformations — and make the most of the abilities it affords her.

Our eponymous heroine is Jung Eun-ji (Work Later Drink Now 2) as Lee Mi-jin, a jobseeker in her twenties who hasn’t had luck passing any interviews. Despite her diligent efforts studying late into the night with a mouthful of instant noodles, Mi-jin has been stuck in unemployment for years. When she wakes up decades older, one look in the mirror has her letting out a horrified shriek reminiscent of Munch’s “The Scream” — but it soon turns out that her alter-ego Im Soon, portrayed by Lee Jung-eun (A Bloody Lucky Day), has an ace or two up her sleeve.

Soon’s aged appearance belies a sprightly spirit, and she shows off her flexible splits and Mandarin proficiency in front of an astounded interview panel. Her many talents net her the job, and Mi-jin’s downright thrilled that her transformations are bolstered by skill boosts. Commencing her career as a senior intern, Soon sashays through hallways, speed-cycles down roads, and sips an extra-large iced Americano while typing away at her desk.

With age comes a wealth of knowledge, and Soon leaves her fellow colleagues stunned and slackjawed when she rattles off solutions like an expert in the field. In particular, she’s caught the attention of prosecutor Kye Ji-woong — played by Choi Jin-hyuk (Numbers) — who can’t help but wonder who exactly this super capable lady is.

Amusingly, both Soon and Mi-jin get their fair share of swoon-worthy moments with Ji-woong — falling right into his arms, for example. “I’ll wait for you, until you’re able to tell me,” Ji-woong reassures Mi-jin, assuaging any potential guilt about hiding her body-swapping secret from him. Alas, Soon attracts more attention than she expects, and she finds herself on the receiving end of a kabedon, courtesy of Baek Seo-hoo (Heartbeat). Though she doesn’t hesitate to scoot away when he sits down on the same bench, LOL.

These questionably romantic advances stoke Ji-woong’s consternation, especially as he draws closer to Mi-jin and her unspeakable secret. In the twilight hours, he’s leaning in to kiss her — but come morning and he’s getting unceremoniously kicked in the face. Whoops. Amidst all the hijinks that come with managing double lives, Mi-jin and Soon’s sincerity shines through, leading Ji-woong to extend an earnest hand. “Let’s give this our best shot,” he says to Soon — and when the camera pans up from their handshake, it’s Mi-jin beaming brightly at him.

Helmed by PD Lee Hyung-min (Showtime Begins) with scripts written by Park Ji-ha (Good Casting), The Woman Who is Different by Day and Night premieres on June 15.

Choi Jin Hyuk Experiences Inexplicable Deja Vu With Lee Jung Eun And Jeong Eun Ji In "Miss Night And Day"

Jun 03, 2024
by M Lim

JTBC’s upcoming rom-com drama “Miss Night and Day” has unveiled an intriguing new poster!

“Miss Night and Day” is a romantic comedy about a young job seeker who suddenly finds herself trapped in the body of a 50-year-old woman and a skilled prosecutor who becomes entangled with her. The drama is helmed by director Lee Hyeong Min of the hit series “I’m Sorry, I Love You” and “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.”

Lee Mi Jin (Jeong Eun Ji) is a job seeker in her 20s who rapidly ages into her 50s when the sun rises. Taking this as an opportunity, Lee Mi Jin applies for a senior intern position under the name Im Soon (Lee Jung Eun) and lands the job she’s always wanted. Im Soon then starts working as an intern under the demanding and workaholic prosecutor Gye Ji Woong (Choi Jin Hyuk).

The poster teases the dynamic between Gye Ji Woong and the two versions of Lee Mi Jin. While working under Gye Ji Woong, Im Soon finds herself at odds with him, but despite his stern demeanor and sharp glares, Im Soon never fails to respond with a sly smile.

In the poster, as Gye Ji Woong starts to pull Im Soon closer, she begins to revert to her true 20-year-old self, Lee Mi Jin. This transformation is mirrored by a noticeable shift in Gye Ji Woong’s behavior; his once stern eyes now soften with warmth and affection.

The poster further hints at a budding romance as Lee Mi Jin naturally leans into Gye Ji Woong’s embrace. The tagline, “They’re obviously different yet strangely familiar,” encapsulates Gye Ji Woong’s growing curiosity about why he feels a sense of familiarity with both Lee Mi Jin and Im Soon.

Actress and singer Jung Eun Ji leads a hectic life in Miss Night and Day.

On June 6, the production team of JTBC's upcoming weekend drama Miss Night and Day released stills of the character Lee Mi Jin, played by Jung Eun Ji.

Miss Night and Day follows the story of Lee Mi Jin (Jung Eun Ji), a young woman who mysteriously wakes up one day as an old lady. Mi Jin begins a new life as a senior intern at Seohan District Public Prosecutors' Office under the name Lim Soon (Lee Jung Eun) after overcoming the shock of her sudden transformation.

Lee Mi Jin has been taking the civil service exam for eight years and is determined to study with her own money without any financial support from her parents. Despite the costs of academy fees, textbooks, and exam fees draining her finances, she covers her living expenses through various part-time jobs to avoid relying on her parents.

The stills capture Lee Mi Jin's intense schedule as she handles various part-time jobs to support her finances and pursue her goal of becoming a civil servant.

From helping election candidates during campaign season to building her strength by cleaning a climbing gym, she steadily accumulates qualifications and money.

Additionally, her dynamic expression while riding a bicycle through a bustling market catches the eye. The sharp look in her eyes as she skillfully navigates the crowded market hints at her experience working as a delivery person. This raises curiosity about how the unemployed Lee Mi Jin, who throws herself wholeheartedly into her part-time jobs, will succeed.

As Lee Mi-jin — armed with practical experience honed through various part-time jobs, a wealth of knowledge from extensive civil service exam preparation, and certifications for extra points — devotes her youth to a variety of jobs, it remains to be seen whether a flowery path will unfold for her.

Miss Night and Day will premiere on June 15. The K-drama will be available to stream on Netflix.

JBTC’s upcoming drama “Miss Night and Day” has unveiled new stills of Choi Jin Hyuk and his on-screen co-workers!

Choi Jin Hyuk will take on the role of Gye Ji Woong, a prosecutor in the narcotics investigation unit. Known for being an extreme workaholic with a stellar resume, academic background, and striking visuals, he maintains a relentless pace throughout the year and holds a zero-tolerance policy for errors. Meanwhile, Gye Ji Woong’s ambitious boss Cha Jae Sung (Kim Kwang Sik) seeks to become the true power within the district prosecutor’s office by pulling strings for Ji Woong. 20240611095206_miss-night-and-day-01.jpgWatch: Choi Jin Hyuk Starts To Question The Link Between Jeong Eun Ji And Lee Jung Eun In "Miss Night And Day" Highlight Teaser

Jun 11, 2024
by E Ezeji

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Miss Night and Day” has shared a highlight teaser!

The newly released highlight video gives a glimpse of the unbelievable daily life of Lee Mi Jin (Apink’s Jeong Eun Ji), a job seeker in her 20s who transforms into a 50-year-old woman when the sun rises. Lee Mi Jin, who has never had a proper job and has become a 50-year-old overnight, gets a job as a senior intern at the Seohan District Prosecutor’s Office under the name of Im Soon (played by Lee Jung Eun), marking the beginning of her double life.

In one scene, while Im Soon is dancing in celebration of getting her first job, she encounters an unexpected person at her new workplace. Her boss turns out to be the infamous prosecutor Gye Ji Woong (Choi Jin Hyuk), with whom she previously caught a scammer. Despite Gye Ji Woong’s complaints about having a senior intern assigned as a clerk, Im Soon impresses everyone with her flawless performance at work.

Im Soon’s adeptness in rock climbing, paperwork, disguise, and infiltration piques Gye Ji Woong’s curiosity, making him wonder, “What on earth is her true identity?” Furthermore, as Lee Mi Jin and Im Soon keep appearing in the same places, Gye Ji Woong starts questioning the link between them.

The drama is set against the backdrop of Seohan City, where serious crimes like drug cases and missing persons cases are rampant. Anonymous letters sent to Im Soon, Lee Mi Jin’s name written in blood, and the suspicious figure following Lee Mi Jin and Im Soon heighten the suspense of the story.

The video also shows Gye Ji Woong protecting Im Soon and Lee Mi Jin whenever they are in danger. While working at Gye Ji Woong’s office, Im Soon discovers her true calling and starts participating in investigations. Will she be able to uncover the identity of the mysterious figure threatening her?

by E Ezeji

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Miss Night and Day” has shared a new teaser!

In the drama, Lee Mi Jin (Apink’s Jeong Eun Ji) is a job seeker in her 20s who rapidly ages into her 50s when the sun rises. Taking this as an opportunity, Lee Mi Jin applies for a senior intern position under the name Im Soon (Lee Jung Eun) and succeeds in getting the job she had longed for. Im Soon starts working as an intern under the workaholic prosecutor Gye Ji Woong (Choi Jin Hyuk), who considers her his natural enemy.

The newly released teaser begins with a pitiable day in the life of job-seeker Lee Mi Jin, who has just failed the civil service exam. Despite studying hard and praying earnestly, she fails the exam once again, leading to a significant drop in her self-esteem. In her despair, Mi Jin wishes she could become someone else.

As if someone heard Mi Jin’s wish, she wakes up the next morning to find her face aged 30 years overnight, shocking everyone. Both her family and Mi Jin herself are bewildered, with Mi Jin expressing her shock by saying, “I went to bed and woke up like this.”

However, the rapid aging, which she thought was a curse, actually brings Mi Jin a new opportunity. Under the name Im Soon, she gets a job as a senior intern, finally solving her long-standing employment problem. Interestingly, she also forms intriguing relationships with workaholic prosecutor Gye Ji Woong and idol Go Won (played by Baek Seo Hoo), signaling potential romantic developments.
