The upcoming K-drama No Secret starring Go Kyung Pyo and Kang Han Na is confirmed to be part of JTBC's Wednesday and Thursday K-drama timeslot.

On March 26, media outlets revealed that the upcoming romantic comedy K-drama No Secret is scheduled to premiere in May.

No Secret will showcase the romance story between an announcer who can't control the words that are coming from his mouth and a passionate variety show writer who will cast him to join her program.

The upcoming K-drama will be helmed by director Jang Ji Yeon (Nevertheless,) and writer Choi Kyung (CHIP-IN) will pen the script.

Go Kyung Pyo will play the role of Song Ki Baek. He is an announcer at a broadcasting station. He is currently single and has been working on his ideal announcer image. One day, he got a disease that made him run his mouth without control. This became the biggest crisis in his life and career.

Kang Han Na on the other hand will portray the role of On Woo Joo. She is a passionate TV show writer. After seeing Song Ki Baek speaking without filter, she decides to cast him in her program to show his hidden charm.

Aside from Go Kyung Pyo and Kang Han Na, the series will be led by Joo Jong Hyuk, Lee Bom So Ri, Lee Ji Myeong, and Lee Si On.

No Secret will be the next K-drama to air on the Wednesday-Thursday timeslot after Queen of Divorce.

JTBC is the only broadcast channel to have a K-drama in the Wednesday and Thursday timeslot. The Wednesday and Thursday timeslot has been less popular than weekend K-dramas nowadays.

The broadcast channel is seemingly trying to use this advantage because there is no competition and there will be less pressure for it to be a blockbuster hit.

The upcoming JTBC drama Frankly Speaking has confirmed its premiere for May and unveiled fresh teasers.

Frankly Speaking tells the story of Song Ki Baek (Go Kyung Pyo), an announcer, who is unexpectedly afflicted with a disease that doesn't let him control the words coming from his mouth. Intrigued by Song's manner of speech, the passionate TV variety show writer On Woo Joo (Kang Han Na) invites him to her variety show.

Song Ki Baek is an announcer known for his intellect, impressive qualifications, privileged background, and eight years of hard work as an employee who never says 'No' in any situation. He is a celebrated announcer who is just inches away from being selected as the main news anchor.

However, his seemingly perfect life takes a turn when his tongue gets out of his control. In a bizarre scene, he is seen leaving an urgent message saying, "Breaking News. It's my tongue, but it's not under my control," and appears to be trying to escape from the news desk. His eyes reveal a glimpse of fear as he desperately tries to escape the scene, leaving one curious about what exactly has happened to make Ki Baek, who is usually composed, behave in such a manner.

x4KBYX_2f.png

Starting the news with the commitment not to lie and to state the truth sincerely and honestly, Ki Baek begins to take the commitment quite literally after experiencing an electric shock. He finds himself unable to lie, like adhering to the journalist's oath to the letter.

The bigger problem is not just his inability to lie but also his inability to stop himself from saying what he does not want to out loud.

Frankly Speaking will air in May. There is currently no news about the K-drama's global OTT streaming service.

Go Kyung-pyo can keep No Secrets

by solstices

Honesty is the best policy — or is it? In JTBC’s upcoming rom-com No Secrets, Go Kyung-pyo (D.P. 2) finds himself the polar opposite of tongue-tied when a mysterious incident afflicts him with the inability to withhold the truth.

It may seem in line with his profession, given that he’s the principled reporter Song Ki-baek, but an uncontrollable tongue soon proves highly inconvenient for live news broadcasts. “With sincerity and the truth, I shall not utter any lies,” Ki-baek declares, and his affliction decides to take his words a little too literally. Now, he finds himself unable to hold back words before they’re tumbling out of his mouth.

Without the luxury of an editing room to trim away all the beans he’s spilled, Ki-baek soon finds himself facing a crisis that could cost him his career. Since there’s no other way to stop him from running his mouth, he winds up getting tackled off his chair in the midst of a broadcast. At his wits’ end, Ki-baek resorts to drastic measures, deliberately electrocuting himself in an attempt to fry his tongue. Presumably, it doesn’t work, and he’s left to mourn his ruined career.

That is, until Kang Han-na (Red Heart) discovers his peculiar ability. As the variety writer Ohn Woo-joo, she’s intrigued by his blunt and brutal honesty. Zero filter means zero inhibitions, which means variety gold, right? Woo-joo needs a star to skyrocket her program’s ratings, and twelve years into her career, her windfall might just be on its way. With her trusty assistant writer Lee Ha-young — played by musical actress Lee Bom-sori (The Midnight Studio) — she’s ready to transform Ki-baek’s curse into a blessing.

As Ki-baek embarks on his new path, he’ll meet new colleagues in the variety scene. One of them is the beloved variety star Kim Jung-hyun, played by Joo Jong-hyuk (Extraordinary Attorney Woo). Nicknamed the national son-in-law, he’s charmed the whole country with his affable eloquence. Jung-hyun is also Woo-joo’s ex-boyfriend and Ki-baek’s high school classmate, setting him up for a rivalry with our hero. Will Ki-baek’s candid confessions save the day, or will he have to keep his hand slapped firmly over his mouth? We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

Directed by Jang Ji-yeon (Off the Course) with scripts written by Choi Kyung-seon, the twelve-episode drama No Secrets is slated to premiere on May 1.
