Character descriptions

Kim San (Byun Yo Han)  is a top elite student from the Korea Military Academy and a recipient of the Albright scholarship. While he is training in the United States, he changes his major to economics and returns to Korea with the dream of changing the country to an industrial economy. However, he returns only to fall into despair at the reality of the situation and meets Uncle Sam Sik who tells him that they have the same dream and that they will achieve that dream together.

 

Kang Sung Min, (Lee Kyu Hyung) is a candidate to be the next leader. After using Uncle Sam Sik to fulfill his desires and achieve his goals, he abandons Uncle Sam Sik. A major factor as to why Uncle Sam Sik becomes so interested in Kim San is due to his disdain for Kang Sung Min.

 

Jeong Han Min ( Seo Hyun Woo) is the elite army soldier who went to train alongside Kim San as another recipient of the Albright scholarship. But unlike Kim San, Jeong Han Min stays and trains hard in the hopes of one day reforming the military. However, he too eventually comes to crash against the looming wall of reality.

Song Kang Ho is returning to the small screen after 32 years!

The new drama series “Uncle Sam Sik” (literal title) is a drama that tells the story of desire and bromance of two men, Uncle Sam Sik and Kim San, who survived the turbulent period of the early 1960s in Korea.

Song Kang Ho has been actively communicating with the audience through the big screen for the past 32 years. In May 2022, he became the first Korean male actor to win Best Actor at the Cannes International Film festival through the film “Broker.” This raises anticipation for the drama that Song Kang Ho chose to star in for the first time in 32 years.

In addition to this, “Uncle Sam Sik” is a drama where Song Kang Ho and director Shin Yeon Sik will collaborate once again after working together on two upcoming projects “One Win” and “Cobweb” (working titles) in succession. Starring Song Kang Ho as a lead role, “One Win” will be Korea’s first volleyball film, which director Shin Yeon Sik took charge of directing, writing, and producing. In a report cited by Sports Worldi, the 38-year-old star has confirmed his appearance and will be joining the award-winning actor for his first ever tv series. 

According to the media outlet, a representative from "Uncle Samik" shared that "Lee Kyu Hyung, who was ranked first in the casting stage, has confirmed his appearance."

With this, the "Prison Playbook" star will be among the main characters of "Uncle Samsik" and will play the role of Kang Seong Min.

Jin Ki Joo will be joining Song Kang Ho’s upcoming first-ever drama!

On February 9, Jin Ki Joo’s agency FL ENT commented, “Jin Ki Joo will be appearing in the drama ‘Uncle Sam Sik’ [literal title] as Joo Yeo Jin,” who is the drama’s female lead.

“Uncle Sam Sik” will tell the story of the desire and bromance of two men, Uncle Sam Sik and Kim San, who survived the turbulent times in the early 1960s in Korea.

32 years after his debut, Song Kang Ho will be appearing in his first-ever drama in the lead role of Uncle Sam Sik, while Byun Yo Han will portray Kim San. The drama also stars Lee Kyu Hyung, Seo Hyun Woo, and more.

“Uncle Sam Sik” will be a 10-episode drama and is currently discussing its broadcast schedule. Filming is set to begin soon.

Jin Ki Joo made her debut in tvN’s 2015 drama “Twenty Again” and has since starred in various projects like “Little Forest, JTBC’s “Misty,” MBC’s “Come and Hug Me,” and KBS2’s “Homemade Love Story.”

Jin Ki Joo has been added to the official cast lineup of the upcoming star-studded k-drama Uncle Samsik.

On February 13, it was officially confirmed that Jin Ki Joo will be part of the upcoming k-drama Uncle Samsik. She will be added to the cast of the series and will work alongside Song Kang Ho, Byun Yo Han, Lee Kyu Hyung, and Seo Hyun Woo.

This will be the second upcoming drama project of Jin Ki Joo for the year. The actress is also set to star in the upcoming k-drama "Run Into You" with Kim Dong Wook, Seo Ji Hye, Lee Won Jung, Lee Ji Hyun, and Lee Kyu Hoe. 

Last year, Jin Ki Joo led the k-drama "From Now On, Showtime!" with Park Hae Jin, Jung Joon Ho, Go Gyu Pil, Jung Suk Yong, and Park Seo Yeon. 

Jin Ki Joo made her acting debut in 2015. Since then, the actress has been very active in k-drama land. She has starred in several k-dramas such as "Twenty Again," "The Good Wife," "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," "Wednesday 3:30 PM," "Misty," "Come and Hug Me," "The Secret Life of My Secretary," "Homemade Love Story," "Sh**ting Stars," and more. 

The actress is also set to join the upcoming movie "The Land of Happiness" with Jo Jung Suk, Yoo Jae Myung, Lee Sun Kyun, Kang Mal Geum, and Choi Won Young.

 

Many are already anticipating the next project of Jin Ki Joo.

 

"Uncle Samsik" will be helmed by director Shin Yeon Shick who also created the films "Cassiopeia" and "One Win." 

The upcoming series will be about the journey of two men with a strong bromance named Samsik and Kim San. It will showcase the happenings they experience during turbulent times in the early 1960s.

This will be Song Kang Ho's first k-drama despite debuting over 20 years ago! The actor has only appeared in movies since 1996. 

In the upcoming k-drama, Jin Ki Joo will play the role of Ju Yeo Jin. She is a wise and elite woman who will be Kim San's lover, the character portrayed by Byun Yo Han. 

According to reports, Uncle Samsik will have a total of 10 episodes. There are no official details yet on when the upcoming k-drama will premiere.

Actors who will join Lee Na Young in the upcoming K-drama Park Ha Kyung's Journey are finally confirmed.

On February 16, he official cast lineup of the upcoming wavve original K-drama  Park Ha Kyung's Journey has been officially announced. Earlier this week there were reports about HanYe Ri and Shim Eung Kyung joining the K-drama as special guests. 

It was officially confirmed today that aside from HanYe Ri and Shim Eung Kyung, Koo Kyo Hwan, Gil Hae Yeon, Park Se Wan, Park In Hwan, Seo Hyun Woo, Sunwoo Jung A, Shin Hyun Ji, and Cho Hyun Chul will also be part of the upcoming k-drama. 

Park Ha Kyung's Journey will be about a Korean language teacher Park Ha Kyung who takes a one-day trip on Saturday to eat, meet people, and discover warmth. 

Lee Na Young will be the main character of the K-drama and the other confirmed cast will be the people she will meet through her trip.

The upcoming series will be directed by Lee Jong Pil who also helmed the film Samjin Company English Class.

According to reports, the K-drama already began filming back in October last year. 

Park Ha Kyung's Journey will have a total of eight episodes with 25 minutes duration each. It will exclusively premiere through the OTT platform, wavve. It will air in the second quarter of 2023.

 

 

This will be the grand comeback of Lee Na Young after four years. She was last seen in the 2019 K-drama Romance Is a Bonus Book with Lee Jong Suk, Jung Eugene, Wi Ha Joon, Kim Tae Woo, and Kim Yoo Mi. 

Last year, Lee Na Young made a special appearance in the movie Seoul Ghost Stories led by Kim Do Yoon, Lee Yeol Eum, former INFINITE's Hoya, Oh My Girl's Arin, Lee Soo Min, and Jung Won Chang. 

Lee Na Young is known for being part of the works Did We Really Love?, Ruler of Your Own World, The Fugitive: Plan B, Beautiful Days, Woman, Man, Howling, Someone Special, and more.
