JTBC’s upcoming drama “Cleaning Up” has released a new teaser!

A remake of the British television series of the same name, “Cleaning Up” will tell the story of three cleaners at a securities firm that attempt to forge a new destiny for themselves after accidentally overhearing some key information about insider trading.

Yum Jung Ah plays Eo Yong Mi, the hardworking mother of two young daughters who bears a huge sense of responsibility as her family’s breadwinner. Jun So Min stars as Eo Yong Mi’s younger co-worker Ahn In Kyung who is working towards her dream of saving up enough money to open her own moving café with a food truck, while Kim Jae Hwa plays Meng Soo Ja, a resourceful and deceptively charming cleaner who can befriend anyone who might be of use to her.

The newly released teaser introduces the trio as their secret plan begins to unfold. The text, “Forging documents was as easy as cleaning,” appears on a clipboard which Ahn In Kyung easily dusts away. Next, Meng Soo Ja sneaks up behind a window to erase the text, “Spying was also as easy as cleaning,” with her cleaning spray. Finally, Eo Young Mi puts a finger to her lips to signal secrecy while vacuuming up the text, “Wiretapping was also as easy as cleaning.”

Wearing stylish all-black outfits and armed with cleaning equipment, Ahn In Kyung, Meng Soo Ja, and Eo Young Mi look like spies on a secret mission as they captivate audiences with their charisma. The text reads, “They sweep up stock information with their floor sweeping skills.” The three ladies march out into the hallway with their cleaning tools as if they’re walking the runway, striking powerful poses. However, the scene quickly changes to show them back in their regular cleaning uniforms and nonchalantly returning to work.

Eo Yong Mi makes a firm resolution to seize the opportunity. With a dreamy look on her face, she tells Ahn In Kyung, “Our days are finally looking up,” and another clip shows her hugging Ahn In Kyung while squealing with joy. She says, “It’s good timing,” and she dances joyfully with her daughter. Eo Yong Mi declares, “I can do things worse than robbery,” hinting her determination to make a better life for her and her family.

Upcoming drama "Cleaning Up" is set to premiere this June!

On May 11th, JTBC released the official poster of "Cleaning Up" featuring main lead Yeom Jung Ah. It was also confirmed that the series will air on June 4th. 

"Cleaning Up" is a Korean remake of the UK TV series of the same name. It will revolve around the cleaners of a security firm that will try and create a new destiny for themselves as they overhear insider trading. With this information, the three will enter the stock war.

The upcoming series will be helmed by Yoon Sung Shik ("Mr. Queen," "Tower of Babel," and "Hwarang") and the script will be written by Choi Kyung Mi ("Return"). It will be produced by Drama House Studio Co., Ltd., and JTBC Studio.

The cast of "Cleaning Up" includes Yeom Jung Ah, Jeon So Min, Kim Jae Hwa, Na In Woo, Lee Moo Saeng, and Gal So Won.

"Cleaning Up" will be the next drama after "My Liberation Notes" ends. It will be part of the Saturday-Sunday drama timeslot. The first episode will air on JTBC at 10:30 PM on June 4th.

Riffing off a famous Korean proverb about how hard it is to keep conversations secret, the poster’s caption playfully reads, “Mice hear the things you say at night, and we hear the things you say during the day.”

At the start of the interview, the three actresses introduce themselves and their characters. As the interview was done before their first script reading, all three stars revealed that they were most nervous for that.

The ladies also spoke about their friendships outside the drama, with Yum Jung Ah commenting, “Kim Jae Hwa and I met on [the set of] the [upcoming] film ‘Smuggling‘ [working title]. So to be honest, we have a very good, close relationship.” She continued, “I met our So Min for the first time through this drama and we will grow extremely close in the future.”

When asked how they felt when they were first cast, Yum Jung Ah hilariously shared, “Recently, for the past seven or eight years, I’ve only done JTBC dramas.” She added, “As soon as I got the script for ‘Cleaning Up,’ I read it until the end because it was so fun. I thought it was a project I couldn’t not do.”

Kim Jae Hwa continued, “It was so exciting and tense that I read [the script] so enjoyably so I couldn’t not think that I really want to do this drama and this role.”

Jun So Min commented, “First, I read the script so enjoyably because the set up was so original. Also, after hearing that my seniors [Yum Jung Ah and Kim Jae Hwa] were participating, I couldn’t say no.” Yum Jung Ah then hilariously chimed in, “We all couldn’t not do it.”

I’ve really been enjoying the retro vibe of all the posters for JTBC’s Cleaning Up, and the fun new video teaser gives us a closer look at the drama’s tone.

When by chance they overhear about an insider trading deal at work, they decide to take the leap and try their hand in the stock market themselves.

 

In supportive roles, we have the mysterious Lee Moo-saeng (Thirty-Nine) who works as some kind of informant for a law firm, but no one really knows what his work involves. We also have Na In-woo (River Where the Moon Rises) as a PhD student in engineering. How the two get involved with our three leading ladies has not yet been revealed.

 

The newest teaser opens with Yeom Jung-ah looking out the window at work, narrating: “We’re invisible people. We’re in the same space as others, but it’s like we’re not there. However, they say that’s an advantage for us.” As both Yeom and Jeon So-min go about their cleaning, unnoticed by others, Yeom continues, “While wearing this uniform, it’s not just the mens’ washroom that we can enter. And so, we’re going to try using that advantage.”

The next two text screens read, “The covert and daring hit-it-big project,” and we see Yeom Jung-ah, Jeon So-min, and Kim Jae-hwa sneaking around, wiretapping the office, and eavesdropping for information. Kim agrees with Yeom, “No one is suspicious of the cleaning staff.” And Yeom explains the plan, “We’ll know which company’s stocks are going to rise so we can buy them beforehand and sell once the prices are up.”

We then cut to Yeom Jung-ah and Jeon So-min excitedly checking their accounts, “We already made more than 1,400,000 won!” Kim Jae-hwa is shocked to see the amount as well and concludes, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.” The final text screen reads, “The fearless unnies are coming.” But the teaser ends on a worried Yeom and Jeon, who listen in horror as a repairman begins drilling in one of the tapped rooms.
