[PRESS] NCT Doyoung, in charge of soundtrack for TV Asahi drama 'Hoshi Furu Yoru Ni (On a Starry Night)'

Regarding being in charge of the soundtrack for 'On a Starry Night'

Doyoung: "I have sung many OSTs in Korea, but I was very surprised when I heard that I would be in charge of the soundtrack for a Japanese drama this time. I am really happy to have been given this opportunity. I hope that everyone will have a healing experience once a week."

Regarding the recording of the song

Doyoung: "As the song is really amazing, I may not sound as natural as Japanese artistes singing in Japanese; however, in order for it to not sound awkward as much as possible and add colour to the drama, I worked hard to record. I am very happy that this song could become my own."

In fact, Doyoung was very particular about his pronunciation during the recording, and kept singing over and over again, with the recording lasting a long time.

He didn't tell the NCT members that he'd be in charge of the soundtrack for 'On a Starry Night'.

Doyoung: "I wanted to tell everyone when it's completed. (laughs)"

Thoughts after recording

Doyoung: "I spent a lot of time recording. Even when I was satisfied with the melody, I wasn't satisfied with my pronunciation so I recorded over and over again. As I recorded, my desire (to do better) grew (laughs). As a result, I wonder if that's why it turned out to be a great recording. The melody is beautiful with lyrics like a poem so they were like lyrics that made me curious about the content of the drama. I will watch 'On a Starry Night' too!"

Recommendation point about the soundtrack 'Cry'

Doyoung: "The "smiling through tears" in the lyrics is a situation that I can really relate to personally. It's a love song that I wish to convey to many people. For my singing method too, I worked hard to devise various ways to express that thought."

Doyoung: "I hope that you will enjoy watching 'On a Starry Night' with my singing voice. I'm really happy to have this opportunity. I hope I can bring healing to you once a week."
