[Interview] 20170718 Ji Chang Wook “Suspicious Partner” press interviews

201707181155350710_1.jpg?w=600

On 18 July, Ji Chang Wook met with reporters at the Sky Farm restaurant on the 50th floor of the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, where he expressed his opinions about his recently-ended drama “Suspicious Partner” and his upcoming military enlistment. Since many of the news reports were quite repetitive, the following is a compilation of several press interviews released that day.

What are your thoughts on the filming of “Suspicious Partner”?
“Suspicious Partner” ended its run last week. I’m thankful that we completed it without any problems. This drama is a very meaningful one to me. This was my first romantic comedy and my final project before military enlistment. I had fun working on this project so I feel very happy, but I also have a complicated mix of emotions as I feel sad and regretful too.

You said “Suspicious Partner” was meaningful. Please elaborate.
It was my first romantic comedy. Before starting on this, I had a lot of pressure wondering if I will be able to do well in this project. This was also a project without action scenes in a long while. But I still enjoyed myself on set nonetheless. The trivial little scenes made it enjoyable for my mind and body. That’s why the show carries deep meaning (for me).

Nam Ji Hyun Reveals How Ji Chang Wook Worked Around Her Height Filming Kiss Scenes

Nam Ji Hyun, who portrayed Eun Bong Hee in “Suspicious Partner,” recently discussed what the dynamic was like filming kiss scenes as well as a bed scene with Ji Chang Wook.

On the July 18 broadcast of “Hanbam TV,” Nam Ji Hyun further revealed that she worked hard and that many viewers showered her with love. She commented, “I didn’t have an opportunity to film melodramatic scenes, but ‘Suspicious Partner’ gave me that opportunity.”

Additionally, she explained that because she is 20 cm (almost 8 inches) shorter than Ji Chang Wook, he had to crouch down for her while she was still on a board to match his height. She exclaimed, “My neck almost got completely tilted back!”

Meanwhile, “Suspicious Partner” aired its last episode on July 13.

*** I hope JCW will give us good projects when he returns..... "One year and nine months/ 2 years is quite long enough.....Spending two years in the barracks is taxing for anyone not looking to pursue a career in the military. I  hope he spends some time personally before enlisting. Good luck to him in his military stint. Fulfill and deliver your military duty, JCW

Nam Ji Hyun Talks About Ji Chang Wook Taking Lead For Kiss Scene And About First Bed Scene

suspicious-partner-kiss.jpg

On July 17, Nam Ji Hyun, who recently wrapped up her role as Eun Bong Hee in “Suspicious Partner,” talked about the difficulties of filming kiss scenes as well as her first bed scene.

The actress first talked about the drama’s silent kiss scene and said, “We didn’t know that it was going to air without any sound because post-production is done by the editing director and the music director. Even when I was watching it I wondered why the sound suddenly disappeared but then later the music started playing again so that’s when I realized that they had done that on purpose.”

When asked if Ji Chang Wook took the lead for their kiss scenes, Nam Ji Hyun replied, “It inevitably took that sort of direction. There are many times in which the male leads in those situations but you could say that [Ji Chang Wook and I] made the scene together because we discussed it so much during rehearsals.”

She continued, “Because it has to look pretty, filming kiss scenes is actually very difficult. You have to kiss in a way that’s pretty on camera at exactly the right moment at which it will appear pretty on camera…so those scenes require much more focus than other scenes. It’s very exhausting both physically and mentally.”

Nam Ji Hyun also talked about filming her first bed scene through “Suspicious Partner” and said, “I was super nervous or anything like that. The other actors were very considerate and Ji Chang Wook tried his best to make it not awkward for me.”

That is a pretty standard procedure for K-entertainment; once an actor's drama has aired its finale, all bets are off and any broadcast network can grab a piece of him thereafter.  Granted, Wook cannot mention the drama's title or the network he just appeared on in a rival station's program, but since he was getting ready to film another episode of "Sketchbook" on KBS2, he can use his Guerilla Date appearance to promote that instead.

And yes, he's an extra-hot commodity right now because of his upcoming enlistment.  Everyone and their grandmother wants Wook to sit for interviews and photoshoots from now until 13 August... but good luck with that.  He's already limiting his exposure to the press by holding a pool press conference for his post-SP interviews, and not sitting for each and every news outlet like for past shows.  You know he's not going to waste what precious time he has left on trivial matters, and do what he wants to do for a change without any agency interference instead.

D-21 and counting.............

Thanks for the clarification!! per your saying, this means that even druing Guerilla Date, which is a kbs program, the talk would be about his career in general, viewers will read between the lines about the huge positive feed back of his last drama :)

I'm happy that he was smart to do a pool press conference , this way he will have more time to rest and enjoy with family and friends and more happy with Glorious ent for understanding their star ...But deep down I wish he can be part of one of SBS funny shows before the enlistement , I know I'm a greedy fan

The countDown !! Andwae ! !Gonna miss this boy :(

Give The Kitchen a chance to return home and compile everything for one big report.  But in the meantime, here's a teaser photo to keep you happy!

And the MBC Section TV appearance is today (23 July) at 3:45pm KST.  For once, I can watch it live!  *squeeeee*
