She's Dating The Gangster star Kathryn Bernardo shares some details about her upcoming debut party.

Kathryn, who is about to turn 18 on March 26, reveals that she will have two birthday celebrations - one for her fans and her family.
"On March 29, that's the date when my debut would be celebrated. 'That's the personal one. It would be with family and close friends." says Kathryn. 

"Then there's one more party this time with fans, they were the ones who arranged it. So, it's like there's two celebrations that I would be having."

Although Kathryn initially prefers a simple gathering, she accepted the grand debut party prepared by her fans to express gratitude over their unparalleled support for her through the years.

"The other one, it was really arranged by the fans. It's like two years that they've saved up for it, two years that they've imagined it so I'm really giving that day to them."

Her vintage inspired debut for her family and friends will have a motif of black, white, and pink.

Famous designer Francis Libiran describes the gowns he will make for Kathryn as simple and elegant.He adds, "Kathryn wants it in a light shade and misty rose. She wants a very dainty detail."

Kathryn's escort on her debut is Daniel Padilla. "I want him to sing (on my debut), I just don't know if he's going to agree to it," laughs Kathryn.

She's Dating the Gangster, the film adaptation of a novel by Bianca Bernardino, will be released in the next few months.

Earlier this week, Director Peewee Gonzales shared the following photo on twitter with the words "ready?" and sent the tweet to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla:

It was soon found out that the two leads of She's Dating The Gangster would be shooting for the Kapamilya Network's annual Summer Station ID. On the day of the shoot, fans immediately found ways to get photos of the two on location.

At the same time, Kathryn and Daniel also found a way this week to shoot for a TFC project (Kapamilya Network's international channel), for which details are yet to be released.

Kathryn and Daniel are still currently busy with both individual and team up projects amidst preparations for She's Dating The Gangster film.

Daniel Padilla shared that he is Kathryn Bernardo's escort in her debut this month, even as he admits his busy schedule has kept him from preparing her birthday gift.

“Right now I still haven't given it much thought because Kathryn and I are so busy. But after the show, I will prepare for it," Daniel said at the thanksgiving press conference of Got to Believe last February 25.

What gift does Kathryn want him to give her on her birthday (March 26)?
"Nothing really. Like she has said, even if I don't. (Laughs). For sure after (the show), I will plan for it," Daniel replied.

No pressure

Despite speculations that they are already a couple, Daniel claims he and Kathryn are still in the "MU" stage. He doesn't want to pressure Kathryn to be his girlfriend and wants her to enjoy and explore other things as a single teenager.

"Let's not insist on an answer yet. So that she won't be pressured.

Just let her enjoy the present, let her explore her identity more. Let her explore more the things she still wants to pursue, because once she has a boyfriend, limitations come in hand. So, just enjoy, just relax for now."

While he knows many teenagers look up to him, Daniel doesn't pressure himself into putting his best foot forward all the time.

‘Just be happy’

"I prefer to just be happy." 

Daniel is grateful to fans for accepting the real him.

"They supported me for who I am from the very start. I'm not scared with what the others would say because you know within yourself if you're doing something wrong, right?" 

Daniel is already looking forward to working with Kathryn for their new movie She's Dating The Gangster.

"I'm extremely happy because there's little adjustment needed." exclaims Daniel. "There's only character study left. No need to worry about the actor you're with. We're all happy."

He is also thankful for this new opportunity to hone his craft as an actor.

He adds, "It's fun to make movies because there's more time for the character, and longer rest time as well."

When asked what he admires most about Kathryn as an actress, Daniel says its Kathryn's professionalism.

Daniel and Kathryn are both currently busy with individual projects as well. Daniel with his upcoming birthday concert next month, and Kathryn with her 18th birthday preparations.

The following tweet has immediately confirmed that the two are this year's voices for the Kapamilya Network's Summer Station ID:

Details of the song are unknown as of now, but fans sure do have more to things to be excited about in the meantime, as they also look forward to the film adaptation of She's Dating The Gangster, to be released this year under Star Cinema.

Kathryn Bernardo will turn 18 in a few days and among those sharing the birthday girl’s excitement are her thousands of fans.

Apparently, they all want to know what her supposed “ka-MU” Daniel Padilla would give her as gift.

Kathryn was more than willing to share with followers that she had already asked Daniel for a pet dog.

“I asked (Daniel) him. I said, I want a dog and that's it, I'm already happy,” she told Umagang Kay Ganda.

As to what kind of dog specifically, she revealed, “I want a golden retriever.”

As part of her debut celebrations, Kathryn also related that she, her mother and a few select friends will all fly to South Korea for a vacation.

The tandem will be seen next on the big screen via She’s Dating The Gangster.

Kathryn Bernardo on Sunday danced with her Kapamilya actors as she celebrated her debut on the noontime musical variety show “ASAP.” Bernardo, who will turn 18 on March 26, said she feels overwhelmed that a lot of people are looking forward to her birthday. Leading man Daniel Padilla, meanwhile, said he is hoping to have more projects with Bernardo in the future. Bernardo and Padilla are both set to star in the movie adaptation of She's Dating The Gangster.

The 2014 Summer Station ID won't be released until this Sunday but ABS-CBN has already released a teaser via a music video of this year's theme song, sung by the hottest stars in its stable Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, aka 'KathNiel.'

She has been fearlessly marching into auditions since the age of seven. Fast forward eleven years,
She's Dating The Gangster's star Kathryn Bernardo is proof that whatever you want, if you work hard, you can get it.

MANILA, Philippines - "Fifty percent of the guests are people I don't know," Kathryn Bernardo candidly said about her then-upcoming debut. She was taking a very quick, very late lunch break at the Supreme photo shoot, held two weeks ago.

“Of course! You’re up there!” someone on set proudly answered, hand gesturing toward the ceiling.

At this Kathryn lowered her eyes, her expression unreadable, and continued to eat her cold pizza slice — one of the few left by those who got to eat ahead while she patiently submitted to a two-hour makeup process and a shoot with a whole entourage obsessing over the tiniest details.

Her expression was hard to read because it was a mixture. There was a very subtle smile on her lips that seemed to acknowledge that yes, she was blessed. And at the same time, a mild and barely noticeable disagreement in her eyes, which she wasn’t about to voice. And indeed, she gave no answer.

Real girl

In an industry known for its glitz and glamour, coming off as a so-called “real girl” is the socially ideal image that many artistas are well advised to portray. It’s a cliché that I normally wouldn’t want to waste prose on (e.g. “She’s so nice despite everything no?” Isn't it true that you should be nice?). The thing about these perceived clichés, however, is that they can suddenly prove refreshing when they’re embodied and true, and Kathryn is just that.

Kathryn’s the type who will excitedly pipe up, “Wow, barquillos!” when she’s offered some in the middle of an interview, and automatically proceed to munch — not because she’s being rude, but because she’s just really excited to eat them. She also seems to have mastered the art of chewing while answering without breaking the rules of etiquette.

A far cry from the super shy and soft-spoken girl we featured in 2011 with Julia Montes in “Pretty Young Things,” Kathryn has grown to be gracefully comfortable around people, laughing and gushing like a 16-year-old — the age she admits she still feels like. “I really don't feel that I'm now 18.” And as she is set to be the envy of teen girls across the country tonight, her beauty and glamour romanticized in the limelight for all their hopes and daydreams, she admits that she never really wanted a debut. “I wanted a private party with friends, or to tour out of the country. But they say it's a must, so I'm going to do this for the fans.They say it's a milestone in a girl's life, so... Okay, let's experience that. Let's go and have a debut,” she jokes like a child who is not sure what the fuss is all about.

What excites Kathryn the most about her debut is actually doing the photo and teaser shoots, as she wants to have pictures to treasure years from now. That and the after-party, when all the formalities will be done and which she hopes will turn into a meaningful reunion. “Because I feel like it's the only time I would get to see all my friends again together in one place.” She lights up as she enumerates how she invited her grade school best friend, her high school friends — both the showbiz and non-showbiz people she holds close. And for someone who often has to be the only one missing at her friends' get-togethers, this means the world.

Aspirational teen queen

We ask Kathryn about the legions of girls who will be watching, wishing they could be like her and have their entrance into womanhood celebrated in such a manner — girls without the resources afforded to an aspirational teen queen.

“Actually, if you don’t have money, you can make even a small house party grand. It’s not about the place or the gown you’re wearing — it's about the people whom you're with. It could be that the place is grand, but you don't even know who the people are,” she laughs. “It’s about how you enjoy your life and your party. You don’t need a lot of money, nice clothes, or the perfect place. All you need is the perfect company,” she finishes, mostly in the vernacular. Again, it’s another cliché, and the part of my brain that cares about spaces, good clothes, and good food insists that it won’t be the same. The difference is that wide-eyed Kathryn, while you may argue that she’s lucky enough to be able to say such things, really does mean it. And she’s right, of course. I’m reminded of all the times I felt awkward and lonely in a sea of well-dressed people and waiters serving wine, mind drifting to the people I actually talk to.

Turning 18 for the 16-at-heart Kathryn means being able to get her driver’s license, and being given more trust, freedom and decision power by those around her, “Because you now know a little of what's right or wrong.”

As a closing, we went back to the girls who look up to her, both as an inspiration and a life peg. If she could choose what they got out of watching and following her, what would it be?

“Whatever you want, if you work hard for it you can get it,” she answers, having braved countless auditions, herself since she was seven. “I waited for the perfect time, the perfect project, and the perfect partner (Julia in Mara Clara, which gave her her break). Just be patient and everything else will follow.”

Indeed while Kathryn is one to giggle and doubt that she’s achieved the maturity level that’s supposed to come with the big one-eight, from where we stand it seems that she’s already been there for quite some time now.

The night would have not be complete without the 18 roses. Enrique Gil, Khalil Ramos, Neil Colleta were among the participants of the 18 roses. But what really made everyone fall head over heels in love was when Daniel had the last dance with Kathryn. Daniel brought a bouquet of flowers for the debutant and everyone cheered for the teen couple.



Kathryn's dad gave Daniel his message
During the ceremonial toast, Kathryn Bernardo's dad had a message for his daughter's escort and ka-MU. Tito Teodor said to Daniel, "Thank you for taking care of Kathryn, so far, so good." This earned a resounding applause from the guests. It only shows how Kathryn’s dad is appreciative of Daniel’s effort and how welcome he is to the Bernardo family.

Showing off how special Kathryn is to him, Daniel Padilla serenaded Kathryn Bernardo before the debut concluded Saturday night. Both were all smiles as they all got cozy and sweet on stage. Daniel sang the song “Til there was You”. The audience could not help but get kilig during this portion of the debut.

Kath's mom, Mommy Min got teary eyed as Kathryn dedicated the night to her. Kath thanked her mom for everything. “Actually this celebration is not only for me, because it has been 18 years since my mom has given birth to me. Thank you so much that you raised me up like this. This celebration is not only for me, this celebration is for us both,” she said.



Kathryn's 18 candles
Kathryn's 18 candles were really special as various family members and friends gave their well-wishes and advice to Kath now that she is already a lady. The 18 candles included her ate (older sister), who flew in from the UK, Julia Montes, Miles Ocampo and Marian Rivera, among others.
