먹방 “Watch me eating”, growing trend in South Korea

 

먹방(Meokbang) is the abbreviation of 먹는방송(Meoknun-bangsong).

It means a scene someone eats food yummirificly on the Television or movies. Not only celebrities on TV shows, but also regular people broadcast while they eat in real time.  People are drawn into these shows, and popular hosts are usually who can eat a lot, but still looks good and neat, not lousy. Here’s a 9-year-old kid Yunhoo, he gets a massive attention for eating.

The son of Korean singer Yoon Min-soo became one of famous “meokbang” stars when he started scarfing down food in the popular reality variety show ‘Dad where are you going?!”.

In the upcoming episode, each father gets a mission 'Make a special day for your child' and after getting it, they have a hard time deciding what to do and where to go. 

Six fathers showed their sides through the mission. There's a father who reflects his child's idea and plans out for a day, another goes on a trip right after getting the mission, and the others consider for a long time what to do and spend their time doing nothing.

I'm sensing a change of concept from the PDs team. Still not sure how I feel about it. If they're really changing their concept, I hope they stick with it for awhile before they decide to discard it. I've been feeling some inconsistency for the last couple of weeks. They just throwing out specials after specials with no real substance in it. It's like something is missing from the show. Nowadays I don't think the kids are the focus anymore. The dads tried too hard saving the show by creating a lot of moments for the sake of footage but unfortunately most of them were between themselves not with their kid. I miss seeing a heart-warming scene between the dads & their kid.

'Dad, Where Are You Going?', What Happens To Kim Sung Joo's Family?

In the upcoming episode of ‘Dad, Where Are You Going?’, Kim Sung Joo’s children Kim Min Yul and Kim Min Joo performed PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ for their dad. 

As Kim Min Joo got excited, she showed weird choreography in front of her dad. Then, Kim Sung Joo got shocked and joked “I’m going to sue PSY since my children got wasted because of his song!”

Two-year-old Kim Min Joo’s dance raised the audience’s expectations of the upcoming episode.

The adorable son of Yoon Min Soo, Yoon Hoo, made a lot of viewers go “awwww” on the November 16 broadast of the MBC variety show, “Dad! Where Are We Going?”

On this episode of “Dad! Where Are We Going?,” Yoon Hoo visited a pet shelter together with his dad and did some volunteer work. Here, Yoon Hoo met the cute little puppy Hayang.

Upon entering the pet shelter, Yoon Hoo was a bit nervous and maybe even scared of the animals. However, when he met the puppy Hayang and saw how friendly and innocent the puppy is, he slowly opened up to her and naturally showed his caring side. “Who could have thrown you away?,” said Yoon Hoo to Hayang who couldn’t believe that such a sweet puppy would be in a shelter.

Apart from cleaning the shelters, Yoon Hoo also personally helped in washing up Hayang and showed his passion in caring for animals. After, Yoon Hoo looked at Hayang and said, “What can I do when you’re this kind? We have to take you in. Your eyes are beautiful like our family’s.”

While referring to Hayang, Yoon Hoo asked, “Is this one also neglected? I also pity the other dogs. Somehow, I’ll take care of you. I will never neglect you.”

MBC TV weekly variety program ‘Dad! Where Are We Going??’ which once was a hot trend and led the way in children education styled programs, is set to undergo a major revamp for season three, after suffering consistent dismal television ratings.

Despite the addition of new cast members for season two, results haven’t been exactly ideal, with ratings on a downward spiral. Last week’s episode brought in a dismal 5.6 percent, which was its lowest television rating since the program’s inception.

With fierce competition from competing and similar-themed programs on other television networks, the production team for ‘Dad! Where Are We Going?’ has decided to go for a major revamp in a bid to stop the slide.

The production team has already been in discussions for season three, but nothing has been decided yet on whether to swap out the whole cast of the present season or just have a partial replacement.

There are rumors that the team has been contacting new celebrity families, to sound them out on appearing for the new season. But it’s widely acknowledged that the goal for season three is to have celebrity families whose child are below the age of six.

The new season of ‘Dad! Where Are We Going?’ is expected to begin early next year.

@missconc3ption‌ It's a nickname Hoo made for his mum when he was very young. In a Chinese show that Minsoo and Hoo guested in a couple months ago, Minsoo said the nickname 'Nini' was taken from the word 'honey' (cmiiw) ^^

Yoon Min Soo told that he wrote a song called 'Propose' for his wife.

On November 20th, Kwon Oh Joong, Yoon Min Soo, Gi Tae Young, Jin Tae Hyun, and Huh Kyung Hwan appeared on KBS 2TV 'Happy Together 3' as special guests.

During the broadcast, Yoon Min Soo said, "When my mother in law was opposing our marriage, I sent an email and a song that I wrote to my wife."

He went on, "I was told that my mother in law also listened the song. It's a song called 'Propose,' and I sang the song when I proposed her. My friends set everything at a hotel, and I also invited my wife's friends. My wife sat down in front of me, and I sang the song for her."
