JYJ′s Park Yoo Chun received the Best New Actor award at the 6th Korea Film Reporters Association (KOFRA) Film Awards.

On January 29, Park Yoo chun attended the 6th KOFRA Film Awards at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, where he won the Best New Actor award for his performance in the movie Sea Fog.

Upon receiving his award, Park Yoo Chun said, "After debuting as a singer, I′ve attended music, drama and movie award ceremonies, but this is the first award ceremony that I felt that I want to return to. I think it′s an award ceremony where warm feelings are exchanged back and forth."

He added, "I was greedy to find the name Park Yoo Chun, not Micky Yoo Chun, and I think it was the reporters that helped me find that greed. I′ll work harder so that the name ′actor′ will fit better."

Filming his first movie after 10 years since his debut, Park Yoo Chun acted among veteran actors in the movie Sea Fog, standing his ground with a strong presence.

The KOFRA Film Awards, hosted by the Korea Film Reporters Association, reviewed a total of 134 films from in and outside of Korea and selected winners based on the votes of associated reporters. The Korean Film Reporters Association holds 48 news outlets and 67 film reporters as members.

‘Haemoo’ invited by New York film festival

Updated : March 10 2015

“Haemoo,” a movie starring singer-turned-actor Park Yoo-chun, was

officially invited to the New Directors New Films festival, which kicks

off on March 28 in New York, the film’s distribution company, Next

Entertainment World, said Monday.

image

(NEXT ENTERTAINMENT WORLD)

The festival, jointly hosted by the Museum of Modern Art and the Film

Society of the Lincoln Center, selects the most remarkable rookie

directors every year. This time, the movie director Shim Sung-bo was

invited as the only Korean among the 26 full-length films.

Haemoo is based on the true story of fishing crews smuggling illegal

immigrants into Korea in 2001. The film was already invited to the

Toronto International Film Festival and the San Sebastian International

Film Festival.

“The invitation is as if someone stands behind me when climbing a mountain,” said the director in a media interview.

The film’s producer, Bong Joon-ho, said, “This festival is very

meaningful for a rookie director. We are very grateful that New York’s

moviegoers have paid so much attention to the film.”

Shim is set to leave for New York next week to meet local fans during the festival.

At #MOMA to watch #haemoo

Director Shim was at MOMA tonight for presenting #Haemoo and had the Q&A session.

"Selected this genre film with the director Shim Sung Bo who has own voice"
Shim: Even though it was based on the real event, the main theme was love.
Love was the most angle we wanted to show in Haemoo

Shim: It's actually based the play which was taken from the true story
Sea fog was used as the background and through Haemoo I wanted to tell the situation we are hopeless
Shim: wasn't my intention to show political msg, but I wanted to depict the era

Q: Technical quality of the film was outstanding. How did you do that?
Shim: Except me, all film crew were best in class. 70% was filmed on the sea water. Also used CG as supplementary use
Shim: Characterization of each 6 crew member was my focus in adapting the play in cinema
The first scene I wanted to portray was the daily lives of fisherman and hoped to bring pity from viewers

Q: Was the young man the real person. Shim: It's based on the play, isn't based on True story
Shim: I always like to show a story of average men turning into criminal
