He is currently resting. Not very sure whether the shooting ended only for sunbae or for the whole crew~Since the captain has already disembarked, Dong-shik should not be too far off! #Yuchun

Right now Park Yuchun is in the middle of his drama filming with many veteran actors. Since ‘Sea Fog’ is his first big-screen project, that’s why his acting has improved quality-wise from his casting to the end of filming. Everyone will be able to feel his realistic performance from the big-screen movie coming soon. Actually ‘Sea Fog’ isn’t a tragedy or a horror, but instead I think of it as more of a romance.

 Jane Youm  March 7, 2014

Korea’s most bankable star, Kim Yoon-seok made his stage debut in 1988 with A Streetcar Named Desire. His theater background led him to be cast in minor roles on film and television. One of the first of which was a supporting part as a rural cop chasing down a scammer in director Choi Dong-hoon’s 2004 film The Big Swindle. After several years of minor roles, his breakthrough role came as a ruthless gambler with a scarred face and charismatic swagger in Tazza: The High Rollers (2006). He then played as a pimp and ex-cop on the trail of a prostitute murdering serial killer—played by Ha Jung-woo—in The Chaser (2008) directed by Na Hong-jin that brought him stardom and acting awards.

He has since become an acclaimed leading actor in Korean cinema, in films such asRunning Turtle (2009), The Yellow Sea (2010), Punch (2011), and The Thieves (2012).

He played a toothless detective who plays a cat-and-mouse game with a fleeing criminal inRunning Turtle, and an uber-bad wizard in Woochi, in which the story line alternates between Chosun era Korea and modern-day Seoul.

He reunited with The Chaser co-star Ha Jung-woo in director Na’s ambitious sophomore film The Yellow Sea—which features a lively performance from him as a hatchet wielding fixer in a bulky coat and sunglasses.

The year after, Punch became the third highest grossing film of 2011, in which he portrayed an ill-tempered teacher giving courage to a youth from the slums.

Taking centre stage as the mysterious Macao Park in CJ Entertainment’s epic Chinese co-production, The Thieves—renowned for an all-star ensemble cast and the second highest grossing Korean film of all time—in 2012 he once again triumphed. He got to not only flex his Mandarin language skills, but also got front and centre for a thrilling action finale that has him abseiling down a building fighting off various gunmen.

He continued working with Korea’s leading directors in 2013, in South Bound by Yim Soon-rye, and Hwayi: A Monster Boy, the sophomore feature by Jang Joon-hwan—whose sensational debut Save the Green Planet rocked the international film stage when it was released in 2003.

He has joined the blockbuster thriller Sea Fog—a new water-bound Korean film to be produced by Bong Joon-ho and directed by Memories of Murder (2003) co-writer and assistant director Shim Sung-bo.

Based on a popular stage play, the film tells the story of the mishaps within a fishing vessel when the crew decides to board people illegally

Shim Sung-bo’s debut feature, Sea Fog has been pre-sold to France’s Wild Side Films and Japan’s Twin as the buyers. It will be released this summer through Next Entertainment World and in Japan early 2015.

released in August

class="entry-title" style="margin: 0px 0px 20px;"[NEWS] 140315 Cine21: ‘Sea Fog’ set for August releaseMarch 15, 2014 · rilanna

NEW[Next Entertainment World]‘s ‘Sea Fog’ –that has just finished its filming recently and enters into its post-production stage– is expected for an August release.

Schedule to be open in August, the force of ‘Sea Fog’ will be formidable. NEW expresses their modest expectations, saying, “We don’t know if it’s advantageous for it to be early for this year’s Chuseok. Since it is not a historical film or in a place to be different [from other films], it could have been pushed back, would it not be for the vacation season and holidays.”

class="entry-title" style="margin: 0px 0px 20px;"[NEWS] 140319 JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun gained a lot while filming ‘Sea Fog’March 19, 2014 · rilanna

JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun was recently featured in the latest issue of fashion magazine ‘Singles’, where he was photographed at the film set of his current drama ‘Three Days’, while also revealing his thoughts about filming in the accompanying interview.

On the day of the shoot, Park Yoo Chun was seen constantly in dialogue with director Shin Kyung Soo in front of the monitor, as they reviewed footage that had just been filmed. Shin Kyung Soo praised Park Yoo Chun as an actor who was intelligent, meticulous, adaptable, and creative.

The filming staff also praised Park Yoo Chun for being a honest actor. In the accompanying interview, Park Yoo Chun admitted, “It is really great. I get along well with the staff, and I had a great time filming the drama. It is really cold during filming, and there are many action scenes, so it isn’t really easy for me. But after going through all that, I find myself changing. I always try my very best to be courteous in the past. But I have become more at ease now, and can talk and joke with the staff without any inhibitions.”

The reason for Park Yoo Chun’s transformation, can be attributed to the 4 months that he spent with the filming staff for the filming of his movie ‘Sea Fog’. He said with a smile, “It felt really awkward to have to adhere strictly to all the courtesy and politeness during the filming of the movie. So I felt that I should treat everything as natural as possible instead, instead of forcing the issue. I had meals and drinks with the filming staff in the 4 months of filming, and understood a lot of things.”

Park Yoo Chun’s full photo shoot and interview can be found in the April issue of ‘Singles’ which will be out on March 20th, as well as the magazine’s official website.

Q. Which movie are you prepared for next?

A. I am preparing for the movie called ‘Sea Fog’ from director Boon Joon-ho and based on a play. It happens on a ship and is about the story between Korean-Chinese stowaways aboard who are smuggle across the border and the crew who is bringing them accidentally; it’s labeled ‘Pauper’s Titanic’, nicknamed by its scenes and as a movie portraying the love and tragedy of the poor. I’m not confirming the opening, but it may be the latter half of 2014.

class="entry-title" style="margin: 0px 0px 20px;"Yoochun's Sea Fog (Haemoo)... class="entry-title" style="margin: 0px 0px 20px;"[OTHER NEWS] 140424 Dilemma for “Roaring Currents”, “Pirates” and “Haemoo”April 24, 2014 · rilanna

photo photo428969.jpg“Roaring Currents”

Three major blockbusters worth the cost of 10 billion won are in a predicament. Release dates are being reconsidered due to the Sewol ferry disaster which put the whole country in grief.

They are “Roaring Currents” during the Japanese invasion of Korea, “Pirates” and “Haemoo” which is about an incident on a ship full of Korean immigrants from China.

Their release dates were decided a year ago. However, all of them deal with the sea and vessels, battles and riots. The producers are all thinking deeply now.

“Roaring Currents” was slated for release on the 30th of July and “Pirates” and “Haemoo” in August. The two of them are major blockbusters supported by CJ Entertainment and Lotte Entertainment being aimed for the dead summer. However, an unexpected incident has pressured them. The grief of the nation over this tragedy simply can’t be ignored.

Im Seong-gyu from Lotte said, “We are thinking of every way possible. We’re very cautious about it but haven’t been able to come up with a clear explanation yet”. This likely means the release date can’t be easily postponed.

“Roaring Currents” is the first film to be released out of the three and it’s going to move on according to plan. However, CJ is claiming that there is a need to watch the progress of the disaster. Whatever their decision is, they shouldn’t disturb the nations’ feelings.

Furthermore, “Roaring Currents” and “Haemoo” contain parts where the crew disobeys the captain. These elements would remind people of the Sewol ferry tragedy. The producers might decide to just go with the original dates, as they are unable to continually postpone the date of release.

Unfortunately, the contents of the movie could spur misunderstandings among certain individuals. It’s a sensitive period for anything.
