South Korean production and sales company Showbox got off to a bright start at the American Film Market with a string of sales on its action thriller “Confession of Murder” and action film “A Company Man”.

“Confession of Murder”, directed by first time feature maker Jung Byung-gil was sold to Japan (Twin Co), China (Shanghai Vision Film), Indonesia (Ram Indo), French-speaking Europe (Synergy Cinema) and German-speaking Europe (Splendid Films). The film, which screened in the market at AFM, opens next week in Korea (8 Nov).

“A Company Man”, also made by a first time director, Lim Sang-yun, had been widely sold before the market, but added new deals in thex-USSR and Baltic territories with Maywin Films) and to Hong Kong with Edko Film. It was previously sold to Japan(Pony Canyon), China (New View), Indonesia (Ram Indo), Thailand (STG Multimedia), French-speaking Europe (Synergy Cinema) and German-speaking Europe (Splendid Films).

“Confession of murder” exceeds 1 million viewers in seven days 

The action thriller “Confession of murder” starring Park Si Hoo and Jung Jae Young which opened seven days ago has mobilized 1 million viewers.

According to statistics released by the Film Council on November 15, movie theater tickets sold on November 14 indicated COM mobilized 109,007 spectators yesterday, with a cumulative attendance totaling 1,043,987 people.

COM has only been released for seven days and is charging forward at a furious pace, chasing the melodrama “Wolf Boy” which has surpassed 4 million viewers. COM’s prospects are bullish because it has a steady audience.

COM is a unique and spectacular action film, with a shocking reversal to win the hearts of the audience. In particular, its handicap R rating means youth admission is impossible, but it has still managed to attract over 100,000 people each weekday.

The Hollywood film “Breaking Dawn Part 2″ will open on November 15, so whether COM will continue to draw attention remains to be seen.

“Take this waltz” is #1, followed closely by “Confession of murder”

This is a survey done by MAX Movie with the audience rating the movies they have seen.

According to the November 14 report, “Take this waltz” is still #1 after a couple of weeks with a rating of 8.73 points.  Audience satisfaction is high, especially with the actors. This movie rates more than 8 points in all five categories, with the actors rating 9.04 points, the highest score recorded.

In second place is “Confession of murder” starring Jung Jae Young and Park Si Hoo with an overall rating of 8.70 points. It showed its strength by entering the actual audience ratings in the TOP 5 ranking as soon as it was released. The Actor sector received the highest score of 9.28 points, and it scored 8 points or higher in all five categories.  This is Jung Jae Young’s highest scoring in a Two Top movie.

#3 is unchanged — Ben Affleck’s “Argo”.
#4 is Lee Byung Hun’s “The Man who was King”.
#5 is Lee Myung Bak’s government’s 5-year documentary.
#6 is Song Joong Ki’s “Wolf Boy”.

“Confession of murder” – Park Si Hoo is selected the greatest all-time hottie serial killer

Park Si Hoo tops the list of the best serial killers in Korean movies.

A survey has been done over the past eight days on the best serial killer in movies and Park Si Hoo in COM comes out on top.

In this survey apart from Lee Du Seok in “Confession of murder”, other candidates nominated include Park Hae Il in “Memories of murder”, Ha Jeong Woo in “The Chaser”, and Choi Min Shik in “I saw the devil”.

Among this list of notable actors, Park Si Hoo obtained a 53% approval rating and was named the best serial killer with the best visual.

Park Si Hoo plays the serial killer Lee Du Seok in COM who writes a penitence autobiography on his crimes after the expiry of the statute of limitations. He has completely transformed his image from his usual one on TV. His LDS is a well-drawn character with a beautiful appearance, cold eyes, and a killer smile.

After Park Si Hoo, Choi Min Shik of “I saw the devil” is in second place with 23% of the votes, followed by Ha Jeong Woo (“The Chaser”) and Park Hae Il (“Memories of murder”).

COM is an action thriller on the showdown between the serial killer Lee Du Seok and the detective (played by Jung Jae Young) who is trying to bust him. This movie is currently screening and is receiving rave reviews.

Horror films become thrillers in 2012 / what the audience choose

Record audience [in S. Korea] went to the cinema in 2012.  Past statistics released since 2006 have shown that close to 200 million people go to the cinemas annually, and Korean movies also made the 100 million breakthrough.  In this process the audience has shown a little change in taste.  Korean thriller films are growing beyond their confines and entering a mature phase.  As for the international thriller movie blockbuster sequels, the audience does not seem to like them so much anymore.  Until the mid-2000s, the Korean thriller movie was somewhat barren, but this year there are high-profile thrillers which should not be missed.

A new kind of film appeared
