청주국제공예비엔날레조직위는 27일 오후 청주시청에서 배우 구혜선씨와 패션디자이너 이상봉씨를 홍보대사로 위촉했다.

조직위는 청주국제공예비엔날레를 효과적으로 알리고 공예의 예술성과 한국의 문화가치를 세계에 알리는 데 구혜선씨와 이상봉씨가 적임자라고 판단해 홍보대사로 위촉했다고 설명했다.

이들은 단순 홍보대사 역할에 그치지 않고 비엔날레 기간 중 관람객과 함께하는 시민데이트 등 다양한 활동을 펼친다.

구혜선은 자신이 직접 창작한 작품을 전시하며 이상봉씨는 한글문화상품 특별전, 패션쇼 등의 사업을 펼칠 예정이다.

청주시·청원군·증평군 등 3개 시·군이 추진하는 '세종대왕 힐링 100리길' 프로젝트의 상품 개발에도 적극 협력하고 참여하기로 했다.

이날 위촉식에서는 조각보로 만든 위촉패를 선보여 눈길을 끌었다.

청주에서 활동하는 규방공예 작가 이소라(45)씨가 한 땀 한 땀 바느질로 기워 만든 조각보를 활용해 위촉패를 만들었다.

가로 30㎝, 세로 30㎝의 조각보를 아크릴로 표구한 뒤 위촉 문구를 삽입한 것으로, 한국의 미와 공예의 미를 담아 예술성을 극대화했다.

Thank you meow13 and jazz_10 for the articles about GHS being selected as ambassador for the craft festival.
Both articles are basically the same and I will just briefly summarize. Although the articles do not mention the dates, I believe I read somewhere that the craft show will occur sometime in September and October of this year.
The article describes the work of GHS as well as the Lee SangBong who seems to be a famous fashion designer in Korea and has worked as ambassador for many national and international events. He is especially known for designs that accentuate theme of Korea. He was even awarded presidential award in 2009. So, the selection committee for the 2013 Cheongju International Craft Biennale was very selective in choosing their 2 ambassadors.
During the festival, each ambassadors will also have his and her own exhibition of their craft work and they will also be active in carrying out events with the visitors and the public ("Dates with People") who will come to ChungJoo. Both ambassdors are presented with gifts made by a local craft woman who personally sewed the patchworks one by one.
The ambassadors and involved people will also be working on product development under the project called "King SeJong Healing 100 ?Path". This is a project sponsored and initiated by three cities. The above event to congratulate two ambassadors was held at the ChungJoo city hall.
(I get the feeling that GHS is becoming an important cultural figure who is recognized by the Korean government. That is not something to take lightly esp in Korea.)

meow13, thank you for the link to GHS interview. Unfortunately, I cannot find it either. By her clothing, I am guessing she was interviewed when her art work was shown at that world's longest art work display event before HK contemporary.

[아시아경제 장영준 기자]배우 구혜선이 홍콩 컨템포러리 아트페어 개인전에 작가로 참석해 현지의 높은 관심을 이끌어냈다.

28일 소속사 YG엔터테인먼트에 따르면 구혜선은 지난 24일부터 27일까지 나흘간 홍콩 엑셀시어 호텔에서 열린 홍콩 컨템포러리 아트페어 개인전에 초청 작가로서 참석했다.

' 두 도시 이야기(Tales of the Two Cities)'라는 주제로 개최된 해당 개인전에서 구혜선은 새롭게 그린 '자화상'을 포함해 다양한 자신의 작품들을 선보였다. 특히 작가로서 홍콩을 방문한 구혜선에게 많은 질문이 쏟아지며 현지 언론 및 관계자들이 높은 관심을 보였다는 후문.

지난해 홍콩 아트페어 개최 당시 배우 하정우가 화가 자격으로 참석한 이래로, 한국 배우로서는 구혜선이 두 번째 방문인 셈이다.

해당 행사는 5월 아트주간을 맞아 각국에서 홍콩을 찾은 미술관계자들에게 신진 유망작가들을 소개하고, 그들이 국제 무대로 나아갈 수 있도록 기회를 제공하는 것을 목표로 한다.

‘두 도시 이야기’(Tales of the Two Cities)를 주제로 열린 개인전에서 구혜선은 새로 그린 ‘자화상’을 포함해 다양한 작품들을 선보였다. 지난해 화가 자격으로 참가한 하정우(35) 이후 한국 배우로는 구혜선이 두 번째다.

매니지먼트사 YG엔터테인먼트는 “작가로서 홍콩을 방문한 구혜선에게 많은 질문이 쏟아지며 현지 언론 및 관계자들이 높은 관심을 보였다”고 밝혔다.

홍콩 컨템포러리 아트페어는 5월 아트 주간을 맞아 각국에서 홍콩을 찾은 미술관계자들에게 유망작가들을 소개하고, 그들이 국제무대로 나아갈 수 있는 기회를 주는 것을 목표로 한다.

한편, 구혜선은 27일 오후 청주 시청에서 ‘2013 청주국제공예비엔날레 홍보대사’로 위촉됐다. 자신의 작품도 전시할 계획이다.

MR Lie, a established fashion designer who displays the beauty of Hangul (Korean alphabet) in the fashion collection, has been built a keen relationship with Cheongju. He is now preparing new style of fashion show on the opening day of the biennale which will bring about collaboration of crafts & art.

MS　Ku is a multi-player style creative personnel whose interests range from acting to fine art. Boys Over Flowers(TV Series) made her an global star but her career didn’t stop there. The titles she has are : Actress, Director, Screenwriter, Artist, Singer, Composer, Writer, Illustrator, Lyricist, Film Producer, etc. She will also display some of her craftworks during the biennale.

Why did you start to study again? GHS entered college again in 2012. Currently, she is taking a year off. There is no place like school where energy overflows.  It is a plce that also makes me laugh so much. School is also a society so everything serious is all inside it too. Looking from without, it does not look that serious, but, inside, it is totally serious. Because I entered school after making a living, it is so interesting to me.

학생들은 ‘수업 교재가 바뀌었는데, 교수님이 그러시면 안 되지.’ 이런 이야기를 아주 진지하게 나눠요. 제가 볼 땐 ‘뭐 다시 사면되잖아’ 그런 생각인데.(웃음) 그러면서도 그들과 함께 교재 이야기를 하고 있는 저를 발견하죠.Students may seriously talk about "class textbook has changed, Professor cannot do that.". When I look at that situation, I would just think, "we just have to go and buy it" (laughter) But then I find myself talking about the textbook with them.

 

 구혜선이라면 GHS is....

‘나에게 기회를 주고, 또 나를 용서하면서 여기까지 왔다’고 했다. 잘 한 일이든, 잘 못한 일이든 본인이 가장 잘 안다는 게 그의 생각이다. 지금은 다큐멘터리 작업과 영화 준비 작업을 진행하고 있다.I give myself chances and I forgive myself. That is how I came to this point. At this time GHS is preparing a documentary work and a movie work.

 

연기 활동은 언제 다시 할 건가요? 제가 지금 쓰고 있는 시나리오가 제가 직접 연기하려고 쓰는 거예요. 제가 쓰고 제가 바로 이야기하면 잘 전달되지 않을까 해요. 이번에 갤럭시 S4에 같이 참여한 양익준 감독님이 그렇게 하시잖아요. “한 번 해봐라, 성취감이 크다”고 해서 용기를 얻었어요.When are you going to act again? The scenario that I am currently writing is being written so that I can act in it. I am thinking that perhaps if I write it and act in it, the story will be even better told. Director Yang IkJoon who also worked for the Galaxy 4 project does just that. He encouraged me to try it. He told me "Try it. There is a greater sense of accomplishment." So, I gained confidence.

 

예술에 대한 갈망보다는 하고 싶은 일을 편하게 하려는 거 같은데, 오해인가요? 맞아요. 제가 하는 일을 특별하게 말하는 것에 대한 거리낌이 좀 있어요. 누군들 특별하지 않겠어요. 아무래도 직업이 이렇고 인터뷰를 통해 질문을 받다보니까 자꾸 그렇게 특별하게 말하게 되더라고요. 근데 나중에 읽어보면 못 읽겠어요.(일동 웃음) 특별하지 않는 그런 예술가가 어디 있겠나 싶고, 또 예술가 아닌 사람이 어딨을까 싶죠. So, rather than being pulled by artistic longing, I am gathering that you just want to do work comfortably. Am I right? GHS: Yes. That is correct. I feel uncomfortable when the work I do is considered as special. Everybody is special and unique. Due to the kind of work I do and through interviews, I guess it automatically describes the work as special. However, I just cannot stomach it when I read it later. (all laugh) I guess there is no artist who is not special. Also, I think that there is no person who is not an artist him/herself.

 

연기력이나 연출력에 대해 심하게 질책을 받은 적은 없나요? 그렇게 감싸는 사람도 없고, 그렇게 질책하는 사람도 없어요. 인터넷의 댓글도 그게 모두의 의견은 아니거든요. 그걸 쓰는 사람의 의견인 거예요. 저 같은 경우는 저도 남들에게 ‘충고’를 잘 안하고, 받는 것도 안 좋아해요. 저는 ‘잘못한 건 자기가 제일 잘 안다’고 생각해요. ‘기분 나쁘더라도 받아들여야 돼’라고 하면 ‘기분이 나쁜데 왜 받아들여야 하나?’는 생각이 드는 거예요. 사람의 기분을 상하게 하는 말로 듣는 사람에게 반발심이나 반항심이 들게 하는 건 좋은 동기가 아니라고 생각해요.Have you ever been harshly reprimanded for you acting or direcing? I am neither rebuked too much nor protected too much. The internet posts are not the opinions of everyone. It is the opinion of the person who wrote it. For me, I don't like to give advice and do not like to receive advice. I believe that I am the most knowledgeable about what I did wrong. People would often say that "even if it makes you feel bad, you have to listen." But, then I think, "when I feel bad, why should I have to listen?" I don;t think it is very motivating to make someone listen when it makes the person feel bad and even angry and resentful." (HOW TRUE!!!)

 

다른 사람의 평가에 휘둘리지 않는 편인가요? 휘둘리지 않으려고 하죠. 안 좋은 이야기를 들으면 그런 생각이 들어요. 이건 이렇고, 저건 저렇다고 이야기를 해도 결국은 ‘나를 싫어하는 구나.’ 좋아하는 사람이 하는 행동은 뭐든 다 좋아 보이거든요. 저도 어떤 작품이든 그걸 만든 사람이 싫을 때 불만이 제일 많아요. 사람 자체가 객관적일 수가 없는 거죠. ‘그런가보다’ 생각하려고 해요. 그것도 지나가더라고요. 제가 집착하고 집요하게 생각했던 일도 지나가더라고요. Your style is not  to get sucked into other people's criticisms of you? GHS: I try not to be shaken by them. When I hear something critical, this thought comes to me. Even if they may mean well, I still feel that they do not like me. If you like someone, everything that they do is acceptable and good. Even for me, whenever someone I don;t like make or do something, I have the most complaints. People just cannot be objective. I tried to accept it. But, even that passes too. All the things that I obsessed over also pass by.

 

앞으로 장기적인 플랜은 뭔가요? ‘장기적인’ 플랜은 없어요.What is your long term plan? GHS: I do not have a "long term plan".

 

좋은 영화를 만들겠다든지. 그렇게 말하면 꼭 지켜야 하잖아요.Don't you plan to make a good movie?GHS:  If so, I may feel like I have to keep that promise.

 

내가 꿈꾸는 50~60대의 모습이 있다든지. 그때까지 살까요?(일동 웃음) 저는 열심히 살지만 이게 아니다라는 생각이 들 때는 그걸 단번에 놓을 수도 있어야 한다고 생각해요. 오래 사는 것보다 자유롭게 사는 게 중요하다는 생각하거든요.Don't you dream about an image when you are 50~60? GHS: Would I be living till then? (both laugh) I may be living with all my heart. But, if I get a thought that such living is not right, then I feel that it is also important to be able to let it go instantaneously. Rather than living long, I feel it is more important to live freely.

 참, 오늘 인터뷰에는 어떻게 응하게 된 건가요? 작품이 아니라 저라는 사람에 대해 관심을 갖고 의뢰를 주신 거니까요. 기분 좋게 받았어요. 사실 기분이 많이 가라앉았을 때는 아무리 좋은 기회가 와도 사양하는 편이에요. 친한 사람이 시사회 초대를 해줘도 ‘기분이 안 좋아서 못 갈 것 같다’고 해요.What made you respond to this interview request?  You were interested in the person me rather than about anything that I made. So, I responded happily. If I feel down, I turn down even the great opportunities. A close friend invited me to a VIP Premier, but I was not feeling good, so I turned it down. 

 

<7번방의 선물> VIP 시사회 때 등장한 푸우 인형이 구혜선 씨였다고요? I was going to take off the mask just to see the movie and the put it back on before leaving the theatre. But, Ryu SeungRyong suddenly took it off of me.

 구혜선과의 대화는 ‘예측불허’이다. 쉽게 던진 질문 이를테면 “앞으로의 계획”에 대해서는 어려운 답을 내놓는다. “제가 그때까지 살까요?”같은. 마음 굳게 먹고 한 질문에는 의외로 선선히 답을 한다. “(서태지 씨와) 스캔들이 난 건 저도 이유를 잘 모르겠어요. 전 그때 만나는 사람도 있었는데.” 예측이 불가능하다는 건, 그가 예측 가능한 방식으로 살지 않는다는 거고, 예측 가능한 길을 가지 않는다는 건 ‘그렇게 살기로 예정된 길’을 걷지 않는다는 거다. ‘여배우라면’, ‘연예인이라면’, ‘감독이라면’ 이라는 말에 굳이 매이지 않는 그는, 앞으로 그렇게 살 것 같다. 오직 하나, ‘구혜선이라면’ 어떻게 할까를 생각하면서. Reporter's feedback: Conversation with GHS can be described as "unpredictable". An easily  thrown question like "future plan" is received with difficult answer like "Would I live that long?" To question that I thought would be difficult, GHS answered unexpectedly easily and simply. The example is the scandal with SuhTaji. She simply said that she also has no idea why such a scandal exploded when she had her own boyfriend at that time. The fact that she is unpredictable signifies that she does not live her own life in a predictable way and she does not take a road that is expected of her. or even planned. She is not tied down or pegged herself as actress, entertainer or director. I think that is how she will live. She will only think about how GHS will live and live.

I think I had moments of panic few times while reading the interview.
Is GHS ok with her health?
She really is a thinker and philosopher.
She really has a unique and inspiring way of looking at things.
To expect nothing.....wow.!!
She has not expectation about living long or what kind of image she will have at that time.
She does seem to easily lose energy and get stressed....or did I read too much into it?
Somehow, I really appreciated the interview and again gained so much from it yet I cannot help but worry for her health as well.

I love the part where she says that it is not motivating to make someone learn something when they are made to feel bad.....I have to really practice that esp with my son.
I feel like sometimes GHS's mind is at a different plane.

@Cheerko dear, thank you so much for your fast translation. I enjoyed this interview a lot. GHS is always exciting to read about because of her philosophies and somehow unique or non traditional take on life, being a famous celebrity in a world where almost everyone do the same thing. I admire her for trying to live her life to the fullest with zest and passion.
I guess, there is nothing to worry about her health. When I was younger I also often think if I would live long kekeke.  What I gather from this interview is that she doesn't make long term plans but rather take one day at a time. She just wanna focus on the task at hand with full force rather than stress herself on what's not happening yet.  It reminds me of the bible verse "Do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of it's own.  There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings. Matthew 6:34
We can really learn so much from her. I also believe that it is better to expect nothing because a lot of the pains and disappointment that we are going through is mainly due to our expectation from what we do and from people around us that doesn't happen the way we want it.
I wish GHS can really find someone who would love her passionately, accept her for who she is and make her happy. She is an amazing and inspiring woman!

Learn much more about her. She is a philosopher, she thinks a lot. And I think she is kind of stubborn and that might be hard for her if there is a conflicting thought with her friends/ family.

Hello Sunnies!

Wow! I have a lot to catch up. Thank you for the beautiful pictures & updates. I have to digest everything that GHS said in that interview. @cheerko thanks for your translations. Every time GHS is being interviewed, I have this feeling that I have to push the refresh button every now & then. For some reason I'm learning about her for the first time. I think her answers depend on how she feels that very hour, depends on her interviewer & how the place is set up. (just my thought) Nonetheless, it boils down on her being simple, intelligent, & an artist by nature- she fits into that category of being free & non monetary...."starving artist" (figuratively speaking)

It's past 3 o'clock here in Spain. I slept for almost a day. Granny finally laid to rest. She was sick a week before HK trip. I had resign to the fact that I might not make the trip but my husband insisted that I must go knowing how important this trip is to me. I spent the night with her in the hospital until the wee hours. Then left for the trip early that morning. I was already waiting for my boarding in San Francisco to HK that noon when an airport official told me the news. I forgot to turn on my phone immediately after the flight from Dallas to SF, actually was about to check on them. I guess, the officer was waiting for me. So, I flew back right away. I already have reserved seat. The officer was nice enough to escort me to the right plane & flight. ( I guess media people have their way of making it happen, my hubby that is)  I cried in the plane for granny & for not being able to see GHS (selfish of me )  We flew granny's remains here in Madrid over the weekend. Sorry to disappoint @S_sun, @GHSforever, @regie, @iamaminsuner, @chyne, & @junding. We've been planning the trip for over 2mos. @meow & jayjay thanks for arranging the HK FM for the rest of sunnies who made it to HK. D & S won't be back after the 30th, I think. I'm happy for our sisters who met HS in person. (i'm jealous )  Maybe next time, I'll be lucky.

@myoneonly ~~ my deep condelence to you and to your family. Though you didn't make it to meet GHS in person but you still lucky to spent up to the last day of your granny which is more important and precious to you. You still have many opportunities to meet GHS.
