Movie Shooting in Fremont on Friday

A feature film that shot at locations in Ballard last week will be doing some work in Fremont on Friday.

Neighbors and businesses were notified that “Late Autumn” (listed as “Full Autumn” on IMDb) will be shooting scenes in the area on Friday, January 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A location manager tells me film trucks will be at Gas Works Park and plans include filming a “Ride the Duck” boat travelling across the Fremont Bridge.

Variety says the film is a Korean remake of Lee Man-hee’s 1966 drama “Full Autumn” and stars Wei Tang (”Lust, Caution”) and Bin Hyeon. It’s about a woman (Tang) who is released from prison to attend her mother’s funeral and along the way meets an escort (Hyeon) on the run from a jealous husband. Filming is expected to wrap in early February with a target for release at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival in May. (Thanks to Terri for the tip!)

South Korean heartthrob shooting film in Seattle

Last month we told you about "Late Autumn," the South Korean film that is shooting in Seattle.

What we didn't know then is that the star of the film, actor Hyun Bin, is something of a South Korean heartthrob.

South Korean media have been swooning about Hyun's project in Seattle for a little while now, it appears. Hyun, 27, broke many Korean girls' hearts when it was revealed that he was dating Song Hye Gyo, a popular Korean actress.

Cast and crew of "Late Autumn" were in Ballard last month, sporting umbrellas and welcoming photographer Josh Trujillo in for a few quick shots.

Today, Seattleites have spotted them down on Western Avenue, near the exit from the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The crew will also be at Pike Place Market.

A call to production staff got me little to pass on about what exactly they're filming at these locations. Citing actors' contracts and the typical concern about attracting disruptive crowds, the woman I spoke with did not want to say much beyond the fact that -- yes -- that's the "Last Autumn" crew on Western Avenue and the Market.

She did say there's a news release coming out with more details. But no word on when that's due.

If you think you see anything else from these guys, feel free to let me know. We'll keep you posted.

Update: "Late Autumn" has been making the rounds. As Fremont Universe noted last month, the crew's been in the neighborhood.

Wow...wow...some news of Bin oppa ! It's great to know that it is not all work but no play.

A guy in Seattle has spotted oppa with a girl in a shopping mall .. a few days ago, I think.

Aigooo, I want photos so that I can see how stylish oppa and his female friend is ... they are buying balloons...may be for a party ?? It's good to have friend visiting while working overseas.

I will bookmark the link and hope that someone will upload photos the next time they spotted him.

Think I saw Hyun Bin at a QFC with either his girlfriend or co-star one night. They were dressed sharp and turning everyone's heads. They were buying quite a bit of those shiny, blown-up balloons.

Edit to add:

I see in other place that someone is quoting my post and said that the girl with oppa is XXX .

Just to make myself clear, there is no mentioning of any name of the girl that was with oppa in that post, and I have not said any names too...it is just that there was a girl with him. I do not want to be the culprit of spreading rumors and being sued by any management agency in Korea.

In my opinion, if that poster can recognise oppa, he probably is familiar with Korean artists, so if a famous Korean actress was with oppa, the poster should recognise her. So to free ourselves from trouble, just say that someone saw oppa with a girl shopping if you want to quote my post.

Hyun Bin chosen as top Hallyu star in Thailand

A recent poll has shown Korean actor Hyun Bin is the No. 1 Hallyu star Thailand.

In a survey conducted on Thailand's largest Hallyu portal site Pantip.com, Hyun Bin topped a survey asking respondents to cast a vote for their favorite actor. The 28-year-old actor beat out some of Korea's top celebrities including Rain, So Ji-sub and Jang Geun-suk.

Three dramas that Hyun Bin starred in also ranked within the top 20 of voters' favorite dramas - "My Name is Kim Sam-soon" in fourth place, "Snow Queen" in 14th and "The World That They Live In" in 20th .

Both "Kim Sam-soon" and "Friend" have been showing in Japan starting last month. "Sam-soon" airs every afternoon on Fuji TV's public network as part of its newly established 'Hallyuα' project and "Friend" on BS Fuji, Fuji's digital satellite broadcasting station.

Hyun Bin, whose real name is Kim Tae-pyung, made his debut in 2003 with the KBS drama "Bodyguard". He has been dating top Korean actress and co-star of "World" Song Hye-kyo since last year.
