Sorry if this questions was asked before, but in the application, what do they mean by 'international age'?

^ It means your American age...I guess they are going to go by American age instead of the traditional Korean age.

i was on the facebook discussion thread for this event at sbs jpop star audition and i read through the comments and two of them really confused me.

the comments were:

"after you send your application they might call you in a week. if they are interested they will ask you to send them a video. if they like ur video than they will send you a place to go to depending on which location email you sent. After you pass THAT then you go to Korea to compete"

This comment confuses me and im wondering:

1.) Are they supposed to call me in a week after i send my application??

i thought it was around September that they announce it...and i already got my confirmation e-mail the day after i sent them my application. And if i do get a call...is it going to be in korean? that is a huge dilemna for me if it is.

2.) They are going to ask me to send them a video if they are interested??

I thought that was for Asian residences only...and weren't people in Asia supposed to have already attached a video to their application and send them both in the same e-mail? Not send an application first then wait for the companies to either ask for you to send a video or not...or maybe they have to send two videos now?

And another comment is:

"no video! unless you live in asia! they request a video after accepting your application! :DD but i was SHOCKED to get a reply so quick, because i heard many people had to wait long so i was disappointed till i checkd my email this morning!"

again, this is for asian residences? *quoted image* and again, weren't they already supposed to send a video together with their application? gosh my head hurts *quoted image*

I'm so confused on so many levels because this is different than the application processes for both Asian residences and NON-Asian residences.

*sigh* please help this poor lost girl out *quoted image*

Here's the answer to your questions :D

1.) There's nothing wrong with receiving your reply email within a week as that's the email that confirms that they've received your email, the one that says if you've failed or have been accepted comes during sometime in September.

2.) I'm not sure about this, but that's what people say has been confirmed about on the Official Facebook Discussion, so I'm assuming that they'll tell you to send them a video with the reply you should receive within a week.

I'm assuming now that they'll say something like this in the email you receive in one week, "...Thanks for applying...please send us a video of your specialty (There should be some information like "under 2 mins, etc.")..." And then you'd obviously send them a video if you want to continue with the audition. Right now I think that the "Asian Regions Only" for the videos are no more, that doesn't mean you can spam your email with videos, it's just that you'd get a request to send a video.

I hope this clears things up :D

^ They replied 3 weeks after after I sent them my email application. It was an automated message everyone else got, but they also wanted me to send a video since I was Korean. I haven't heard back from them since I sent them my video. And it was a file extension from filetube. They want you to send your video through a downloadable file.

^ Former trainees are understandable, but being signed under a company and auditioning for this type of audition is just plain wrong...Their are laws against this in America. When you audition for American Idol, The Voice, America's Next Top Model and etc. the contract states you cannot be under another agency or entertainment company. And if they do find out (that's why in America we have background checks) you will be fired or terminated from the show...I don't understand why Korea would do that. It's unfair for the people who audition for this, only to find out their competitor is a trainee under JYP. So if he does win what happens? Does that money go straight to JYP or does the trainee keep it?

Most likely the entertainment company that the trainee is under will stooge the money. Why else would they let their trainee audition?

Do you guys remember that one show that JYP hosted back then? Most of the 2pm members (who were trainees at the time) were contestants of that show.

If you think that any of Korean entertainment companies have moral then think again!! because they don't

All they have in their mind is Business = money and fame

They aim every opportunities and do anything to achieve their goal...

*** is the dirtiest and the worst one.......

It was called SuperStar Survival but no, they were not trainees at that time..Junho, who was the ultimate winner, was given the chance to train in JYP because that's what the prize was and Chansung and Taecyeon were scouted after the competition which means since they were dropped in the first two episodes respectively, JYP took a liking to them and offered them a contract to JYP. I'm pretty sure of this......

^ Thanks for the info...And that sounds more understandbable since they got scouted and signed AFTER they got eliminated.

I thought international means abroad? So they're asking you how old you are in Korea.

^ No international age is the age that the rest of the world follows - which is the sun calendar....Korean age or as in the lunar age is only followed and practiced within the Asian continent. Only countries like Korea, Japan and China follows the lunar calender to round up your age by 2 years. So if a baby is born a few hours ago the lunar age of that baby is 1 years old by the lunar calendar. It's pretty john teshed up if SBS is going to follow by the lunar calender when the rest of the world is following the standard sun calender. So if I'm 27 in international age then I'll be 29 in Korean age....Dude no wonder Korea still practices age discrimination.

oh my that's actually very misleading...i already put down my age as 18 because i thought their age system thing was a year ahead of us..I'm actually 17 but hopefully the difference isn't a big deal

^ Yeah I don't think it is much of a difference since you are still in your teens. But for the older applicants ( like in their 20's) is going to suck if they accidentally round up their ages by 2 years.
