KBSW Ep 80.....Sera backrubbing her mum: I'M GOING TO BE A GOOD WIFE ONCE I GET MARRIED.

Her fat mum: YOU'RE GETTING TOO AHEAD OF YOURSELF. RIGHT NOW YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR TASTE IN MEN. HOW CAN YOU SAY YOU THINK JINSUK'S SON IS GOOD LOOKING, EVEN AS A JOKE?

I don't think her taste in men is any problem but Sera needs some serious re-packaging in terms of her dress and hair sense? She dresses, looks and talks like she never left pre-school. But the girl does have some legs on her, and she does have that korean school-girlish charm which either you crave or be annoyed to death, especially if you're not familiar with things korean.

When I label Se In's dad as chimpanzee face, it's not just the facial resemblance but the way he talks and most definitely the way his short legs & gait propel him from point A to point B. In this drama he's given minimal makeup but in another current historical drama, the same man has got tons of makeup and eyeliner piled on so thick & uneven, he's only a few powder puffs away from being Bozo the Korean clown.

Some have asked how come Jumi hasn't yet been caught or punished for her crimes at the workplace? My response is "what crimes"? In the beginning yes, she did steal and manipulate some advertising data that EN was supposed to review but look how that ended - EN became the company darh-ling.

As for the embezzlement & more data manipulation, her partner in crime is no less than chimpanzee face, the acting CEO, and even SI suspects her (but still has no idea what his own dad has done) but has no proof - and doesn't that say a lot about the company top male management?

I should think before you blame Jumi, just take a good look at the top male managers and their lack of skills in talent spotting, strategic mgt, and basic common sense (which is a misnomer because there's no such thing in k-dramas).

Let's start with the old geezer founder-chairman who's supposed to be retired but is always seen imprisoned in his big room talking on the phone, and getting constant updates from his spies on nothing but bad news.

Right from episode 1 & 2, we know he KNOWS his son's (chimpanzee face) ineptness in handling even the most basic of mgt responsibilities - that time chimpanzee face was in charge of the vegetarian products dept and that resulted in many loyal vendors & suppliers deserting the company.

Indeed the vegetarian food section under chimp face had the lowest 'KA-CHING" revenue among all the other organic food depts.

Even at that stage, the then-CEO Cha already identified some irregularities in chimp face monthly budget reports and suspicious business overtures but did he do anything other than look serious and smile at big eyes Jin Suk? His only threat to chimp face is - recover the lost money as soon as you can - but he doesn't yet know chimp face has already 'secretly' started on his merger scheme in order to not only recover the lost money but increase the company's overall liquid finances once the merger goes through.

Jumi is again in the thick of this 'secret' scam - no thanks to long legs consultant - and even SI recently personally told long legs he knows he's not just doing consulting work but has a hidden M&A agenda but that's about all pretty hair boy can do - look fierce while remaining pretty.

By now nobody would dispute the fact that even though grandpa founder have lots of grey hair, his brain cells just don't have the grey matter to pick the right man as CEO. Why?

He still follows the historical drama method of leadership replacement - from father to son. Duh?

This old geezer has collapsed (& nearly kicked the bucket) a sum total of 3 (maybe 4) times and yet his powers of recovery (much to the dismay of his son & his fat wife) is totally A-mazing - must be those cut fresh fruits the fat wife keeps serving the household, just before she unloads or mentions an idea that everyone is afraid to mention or finds uncomfortable like fresh fart.

OK....we know Grandpa knows his son chimp face is NOT cut out to be the CEO and yet, he 'had no choice' but to make him CEO, as a seat-warmer maybe until Se In manages to get into EN's panties and marries her (whichever comes first), most probably by the time the drama hits finale ep 125.

In all likelihood a real EN would run the company as acting CEO while husband SI goes to pile on another MBA (More Brain Adjustments) in the US (where else?) and come back to Korea with even more prettier hair.

We already know ex-CEO Cha has already planned to live in the countryside with big eyes JIn Suk to happily grow watermelons and other organic fruits so that, according to VULCAN tradition, they'll live long and prosper.

About the only 'clever' thing chimp face did was to use and involve Jumi in his shady dealings but then look at how the cleverer Jumi outwitted him and is now holding the blackmail chip over her own CEO?

When you compare & contrast similar male villains in primetime dramas (take your pick from KBS, MBC, SBS. OCN, TVN, etc) who are as devious, calculating, selfish, single-minded, un-remorseful, and un-forgiving, you'd be hard-pressed to find two male villains of Jumi's qualities.

Evening k-dramas attract korean female viewers by the thousands simply because they know evening dramas MUST have strong evil-type female characters whose only purpose in life (and in the drama) is to wreak havoc and unleash suffering day after day week after week on the weaker (goody two shoes) females and almost all the male species in that drama.

I say 'almost all' because once in a while, this dragon-lady may have a supportive husband whose only role in the drama is to insert the chat scenes either at the dining table or in the bedroom so we get to hear the evil woman's current and future not-so-hidden agendas.

Based on k-drama history, purely good characters in k-dramas are NOT the ones to shoot their dramas to Number 1 position every Mon-Fri, week after week....Jumi is just the latest in a long line of female baddies appearing in Kick Butt Station's (KBS) evening dramas - Smile Dong Hae, Happiness in The Wind, Jolly Widows, etc.

This is NOT my hypothesis but is what is reflected in the message boards of the drama posted across popular portal sites in Korea.

The more, more people slam the actions of the bad girl, the more the ratings go up; the more they say they don't like the villainess, the more they wish her dead and burnt to a crisp, the more they want to know WATS GONNA HAPPEN NEXT.

It's best said by FOREIGNER in their iconic song, URGENT - YOU CAN'T STOP UNTIL YOU DO IT AGAIN.

KBSW ep 81......the day things start caving in on Jumi (again) & start pushing her into a corner (yet again).

I had asked this silly question before - what exactly are EN's intentions once she finds & confirms that Hwa Yeon is her biological mum? Today I got the answer from her own lips to Hwa Yeon - put simply, she wants Hwa Yeon to be her mummy from now until the drama ends on Nov 4.

I won't go into Hwa Yeon's anticipated theatrics in this episode because we all know it's only a matter of time before this silly woman do yet another 180 degrees mask-change.

And yeah, the writer just had to insert a scene of very supporting Mr Hong for Hwa Yeon to lean on and wet the entire right side of his shirt with her tears - but why she's crying so much beats me

Is she very sad because she keeps making stupid decisions, on top of a previous stupid decison and saying things we know she'll reverse in a matter of 1-2 episodes later or is she crying because she didn't get to finish her dinner, provided daily by KBS?

Mind you, the food on the Hong's dinner table are real, not those plastic props.

They say birds of a feather flock together and how true it is of Mr Hong who in an earlier scene gave one of the worse attempts to lie in front of Yun Mi. Good actor huh.....to lie (as in acting) is easy enough but to act and make it look like you're a terrible lousy liar...now that takes some skill.

Over to the other family, the writer now makes the fat wife of chimp face play the supportive spouse because she has 24 hours to raise, beg for or print $100,000 to give to chimp face in order to pay off another botched deal in supplying construction materials.

In case you're still wondering why I belittle the acting CEO every time is because he has an amoeba brain - his father built up one of the most successful organic foods company GREEN LOVE & chimp face has made it his life's mission to diversify into real estate & construction - it might have been a brilliant business move but unfortunately every deal he makes seems to incur more and more financial losses instead of reaping gains.

Luckily for him the scriptwriter has given him a fat wife who has a secret separate fat bank account that her husband can dip his paws into in order to save his own sorry hairy butt.

The other big development is the replacement of the previous long legs M&A consultant with another version of an M&A expert. The previous one suddenly left for "the States" to join the largest law firm in America (you mean that basketball dude could write & speak English?) & left without telling any of his co-workers.

So the new guy who'll work with Jumi is actually actor Lee Gun (real name Lee Ji Hoon, a name that's shared by thousands of male koreans).

Ok..he has all the trademarks of a sleazebag...first he tells Jumi, in order for him to get up to speed on what Jumi has already done with the other guy, YOU HAVE TO BE ON CALL 24 HOURS A DAY. I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DON'T PICK UP THEIR PHONES. REMEMBER THAT.

Before Jumi could protest, he continues....I'VE HAD CLIENTS GET FRUSTRATED OVER MY WORK ETHICS BEFORE, BUT NO ONE'S EVER QUESTIONED THE RESULTS I'VE DELIVERED.

Oh yeah? If he was so good, why wasn't he the first choice to be sent to Green Love instead of long legs?

And then came the k-drama classic "answer a question with a series of questions'...Jumi asks WHAT IS YOUR NAME?

Nameless M&A guy: WHY? ARE YOU GOING TO DO A BACKGROUND CHECK ON ME? IF NOT, WHY SHOULD THAT MATTER?

Instead of blowing hot air, what Jumi should have said is: If you don't tell me your blardy name, then how the FRAK am I going to enter your contact number into my sponsored Samsung cellphone since you want me to be on call 24/7?

Or izzit you're too embarrassed to tell me your name which sounds exactly like a certain body part that makes contact with toilet paper, eh?

Additional thoughts: Once again, by bringing an outsider consultant (whose specialises in M&A anyway) on the pretext of 'expanding' their business, doesn't it again say a lot of the lack of quality among the top male mgt?

It's like a soccer team hiring circus acrobats to improve their dribbling & shooting skills.

And does the old geezer chairman-founder know that his son has indeed hired an M&A expert to 'expand' his company? Perhaps his son SHOULD tell him because the news could just be the lethal dose that sends the chairman-founder away to permanent retirement somewhere over and way above the rainbow.

I'll expect EN's latest drink invention, 1 of 3 shortlisted, to breeze through the selection process and become Green Love's latest organic product, unless dear Jumi can do something dastardly soon. Today just wasn't her day when ex-boyfren & super-resistant ex- fiance SI, wearing his best blank face, told her (my paraphrase) I'M RE-STARTING INVESTIGATIONS ON THE SEOMI FOODS SPY CASE SO THAT SOOMPI READERS KNOW IT WAS JUMI WHO FRAMED MY CURRENTLY MOTHERLESS EN.

While Jumi can casually tell the guy from Seomi Foods to 'GO AWAY' (hmm...methinks Jumi is a fan of 2NE1), how is she gonna to plan her escape route against pretty hair boy?

KBSW Ep 82 ....the one where Jin Young officially rejects Sera whose female pheremones then attracts the lustful attention of her hairdresser, uncle Gyuyeong.

If you thought that a possible pairing of Sera-Gyu Yeong is frightening, consider this even more scaree possibility ....if EN marries SI (and I'm assuming as part of the Hong family), and Sera marries uncle Gyu Yeong (another member of the Hong family) and Choi Jin Young marries Yun Mi....all three families would be united by matrimonial ties, with the sad exception of Jumi.

I'm beginning to see Mr Hong as a true-blue peace ambassador - he may be starting quietly going around talking to the key people and trying to strengthen and finalise the possibility of a re-unification...oops sorry, reunion...(reunification is a term reserved only for North & South Korea) between EN & Hwa Yeon. The poor guy has no choice but to do this because every time he comes home, he sees his wife all curled up in bed - not because she's ready for their horizontal dance of love, the kind married couples do - but Hwa Yeon has just exhausted herself yet again crying buckets.

When I watch this on KBSW, it's usually my dinnertime and today's scene betwn Sera & JY was so hilarious, they nearly made me choke on my food.....

JY to Sera inside a cafe: ...YOU'VE BEEN QUIET FOR 30 MINUTES. WHY ARE YOU ONLY STARING AT ME?

Sera: DON'T YOU SEE WHY I'M DOING THIS? (yet another example of answering a question with another question)

a while later.....

JY: I'VE ALWAYS KNOWN YOU'RE A LITTLE BIT WEIRD, BUT I REALLY CAN'T SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING FOR THE LIFE OF ME. SERIOUSLY!

Then he begins to drink from his glass whereupon Sera blurts out: I LIKE YOU! causing JY to spray water from his mouth.

Man, I think the writer was laughing herself half to death and totally enjoying her own comedy as she was typing the following lines for our two ill-fated lovebirds.

Sera: DON'T SMILE AT ME LIKE THAT. OR YOU'LL MAKE ME CHANGE MY MIND (she had willed herself to treat JY as a fren instead).

JY stops beaming: RIGHT. THEN I WON'T SMILE.

Sera: OPPA, DO YOU HATE ME THAT MUCH?

JY: TO BE HONEST, YES. (dang, the guy really knows how to let a girl down).

Later Sera tells him why she wanted JY to be her chosen one: THE GUYS WHO SAY THEY LIKE ME ONLY LIKE ME BECAUSE I'M RICH. THEY ALL LEAVE ME AFTER THEY FIND OUT I GET NO ALLOWANCE AND I DON'T HAVE A CAR. YOU'RE NOT LIKE THOSE JERKS AT ALL.

JY; BUT I'VE GOT NOTHING TO OFFER YOU.

Sera: IT'S SUPER HOT THAT YOU'D SAY THAT. WHY ARE YOU SO DEVILISHLY HOT? YOU'RE MAKING THIS SO HARD.

JY: I'M SORRY BUT I'M NOT GOING TO SAY ANYTHING TO COMFORT YOU. IT'S BEST TO LEAVE IT AT THIS, FOR YOUR SAKE.

Sera: EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS SO AWESOME! I HATE YOU!

Then Sera gets herself drunk after having her hair done by uncle Gyu Yeong and that was another hilarious scene:

Drunk Sera to uncle GY: DO YOU THINK I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH CHARM?

Uncle GY: YOU HAVE BIG EYES, A STRAIGHT NOSE, AND A PRETTY MOUTH...and the camera gives us an extreme zoom-in close-up shot of Sera's lips puckering up like a goldfish....

Uncle GY pauses in mid-sentence, swallows some saliva before stammering....YOU'RE REALLY PRETTY

Then our love-doctor uncle GY switches on his under-used charm offensive: YOU NEED TO MEET A GUY WHO IS OLDER THAN OTHER BOYS YOUR AGE. YOU CAN MEET A GUY WHO HAS A GOOD JOB AND WHO CAN ACCEPT ALL YOUR WEIRD BEHAVIORS & MANNERISMS....THAT'S WHO YOU NEED TO BE WITH.

Sera: LIKE WHO?

Uncle GY: WELL, IF I HAVE TO COME UP WITH AN EXAMPLE, I'D SAY ME...then turns his head sideways to show his side profile to Sera.

Will Sera bite and allow love-doctor uncle GY the chance to boldly go where no man has gone before?

Or will the uncle wait another 5 years for the next girl to appear for him to throw his corny love lines at?

Now the end scene today betwn SI & Jumi again relied on another k-drama must-have dramatic device - coincidental chance meeting. Every k-drama makes it seem like the city of Seoul is actually a very small tiny village because characters keep bumping into each other by chance or they happen to intersect at a street location or in a room within a building at the EXACT SAME time.

Think about it...there're hundreds of hotels in Seoul where chimp face could spend the night and hide from his angry creditors but he chose The Sheraton Grande WalkerHill. SI was summoned in the morning to see his runaway dad at Sheraton GW.

There're a thousand & one places for Jumi to meet Mr Lee, her conspirator from Seomi Foods but she too chooses Sheraton GW.

Now even in k-drama-land there're 24 hours in a day, or maybe less I'll never be sure, but almost as soon as SI arrives at the hotel, he sees Jumi parting ways with the Seomi guy, the same guy who was in the incriminating photos with EN.

In short, for the sake of yet another coincidental meeting that results in significant & dramatic moments, poor Jumi now has to reach deep into her sponsored designer handbag for her handbook entitled 1000 EXCUSES & LIES FOR ANY K-DRAMA VILLAINESS CAUGHT IN A BIND (2011 EDITION) - all she has to do is to quickly flip to chapter 24 "WHEN CAUGHT BY BOSS CUM EX-BOYFREN AT HOTEL TALKING WITH ENEMY OF THE STATE/COMPANY".

Knowing Jumi; she has probably memorised all the contents of this very useful handbook which is given only to k-drama female baddies.

I'll bet you tomorrow, in front of SI, Jumi will not break out in cold sweat although she'll look visibly nervous and slightly shaky, with voice quivering just a tiny bit (actress Yoon Ah Jung has done this sort of lying through her pretty whiter-than-white teeth countless times before) and no worries because pretty boy SI just doesn't have the flair or the training to pump the right questions at her.

And dear Jumi, do learn from Hollywood - when meeting covertly with partners in crime, never do it in a posh hotel cafe where they serve overpriced & below-standard coffee but instead arrange to meet at the public park, at the bench below the shady tree that faces the lake filled with swans and mandarin ducks.

In the old hollywood days of espionage tradition - you sit on one end of the bench while your contact sits on the other end (and pray he doesn't weigh in like an elephant) and you conduct your conversation in normal tones even while the birds above you are chirping noisily (and also pray their droppings don't make a splash on your designer jacket).

So the more tech-savvy 21st century hollywood version is (exemplified best by Matt Damon's series of espionage action flicks), both still meet at the public park bench but they no longer talk using their normal voices against the cacophony of bird sounds above them - instead they use their smartphones and its super-rapid sms.to communicate

and yeah.....no need to swap documents the old way through hand-exchanging envelopes because nowadays you can sell or swap company secrets via bluetooth.

If only Jumi had more time to chill and go to the movies with her sister, then she'll probably learn some new tricks at being the bad girl and stay 2-3 steps ahead of her company investigators.

KBSW Ep 83....Telling the truth but not the whole truth

How Jumi wriggled out of SI's discovery at the hotel is an escape model for anyone ever caught two-timing - just admit you were seeing the guy (or gal) and then quickly change the topic to a sensitive issue that sharply veers away from the original one, making the accuser lose their train of thought and become defensive. No need for lies or deception at all! Absolutely brilliant!

After messing it up with Jumi, SI then could only threaten his dad in the hotel room by saying.....If you don't come home tonite and sleep next to my fat mum, I'm going to spill the beans on grand-dad abt your failed dealings and that'll probably make the geezer suddenly clutch the back of his neck and collapse in this drama for the umpteenth time.

Now you see what a good son and CEO-to-be SI is - instead of helping his dad out of the problem, he gives him more problems.

Instead of cornering Jumi and twisting the screws on her at the hotel, he gets brain-whupped by her rebuttal skills only because whenever Jumi mentions 'EN' to him, he goes from hero to zero. Tsk, tsk, SI's brains and loins are only warmed by the thought of EN coming back to work at HQ.

Speaking of loins (nope, not the beef variety) wasn't it refreshing to see uncle Gyu Yeong daydreaming about Sera? And then she suddenly appears all dreamlike and misty like a mirage in motion except that it wasn't a mirage. Not even close..

And then before Gyu Yeong could charm his way in again, little Miss Bird Brain Sera just says BYE and flits away.

Early male menopause can do funny things to the male libido, and in k-dramas, the male character struck down by this malaise starts showing mating urges towards young females.

Btw the new M&A guy is Gu Jiseob and just like his predecessor long-legs, he too went on the offensive asking Jumi sensitive questions about her (failed) love life - his excuse was knowing the company relationships helps him to understand the power structure within the company.

What power structure? Everything flows from father to son with Cha Sung Joo & Jumi doing the real work.

Incidentally today chimp face has just upped Jumi's role in the M&A project by promising to give her the company shares when the M&A deal is over.

All this happening while Cha Sung Joo & SI are still sitting on the office sofa, looking serious and totally at a loss over how to handle chimpanzee face's latest fiasco.

And so for the finale scene today, we have (finally) the collapse of Hong Gin who was rushed to the hospital and then was totally embarrassed in the hospital lobby when both parents started shouting his name LOUDLY in front of the other waiting patients.

I can at once imagine Hong Gin jumping straight up from the stretcher...STOP SHOUTING MY NAME! CAN'T YOU SEE I'M UNCONSCIOUS? DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK I'M GOING TO BE REVIVED BY YOUR INCESSANT SHOUTING? BTW THE AMBULANCE OFFICERS EVEN FORGOT TO GIVE ME AN OXYGEN MASK SO HOW SERIOUS DO YOU REALLY THINK MY CONDITION IS, HUH?

It also struck me that almost always in TV dramas, the ambulance reaches the hospital WAY ahead of the worried-sick family members and then usually the family members run like baby cheetahs to the nearest ENQUIRY counter for information.

But here, both Mr & Mrs Hong were already in the hospital lobby sitting and waiting (did they flag down a high-speed taxi driven by a former racing driver?)....

... and then the writer had to yet again throw us another k-drama cliched scene - when k-drama characters end up in the hospital as family members responding to an emergency, at least one of them must perform the obligatory BODY SWAYING BEFORE I'M GOING TO FAINT and this time it was Hwa Yeon who went through the motions but suddenly didn't drop to the ground and stood upright again......and that's because she once again saw her ex-abandoned baby girl whom she had just told 48 hours ago I'M NOT YOUR MUM and for whom she made an extra seafood lunch pack for the outing.

Hmmm....maybe it was mummy's seafood lunch that got the better of Hong Gin at the outing, eh? (only kidding of course).

I really wish you could make up the ending to this drama, It probabaly would be much more

EP 112

HY/MRS.PIGGY/EN meet in a cafe to discuss EN/JUMI/Sein.

EN's mom tries to get EN to leave . She has realized that Sein's

Mom has set them up , But its to late Mrs.Piggy has already arrived.

GOOD LORD WHO IS HER CLOTHING DESIGNER! THE WICKED

WITCH FROM OZ CALLED SHE WANTS HER CLOTHES BACK LOL!

As per usual Mrs. Piggy takes Jumi side. I guess its only right, Since Jumi is

in cohoots with her hubby, But I have a feeling that will change as soon Jumi

puts the screws to Mr. Troll again.

Mrs. Piggy calls to tell Jumi about the meeting with EN and her Mom.

She is not amused, She hangs up on Mrs. Piggy.

Mr. Slimshady enters Jumi's office , Him and Jumi bicker about who else? EN and Sein.

Are Sein and EN the only employees who work in this company? WOW IF THATS THE

CASE, I NEED TO START MY OWN BUSINESS, NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY LOL .

Mr. Troll was talking to the Family lawyer, No doubt to find ways he can steal money.

Mrs. Piggy calls EN,s Gma to talk about Sein And EN .

Mrs. Piggy is all nice on the phone, But as we all know lepers never change their spots.

Sera is talking to Jumi's uncle about the things going on at home. Sera then has flash of

her working in Jumi's uncle salon were she gets into a cat fight with a client. She runs off

like her hair is on fire lol .

Jumi's Dad talks to the shaddy guy, I forget his name lol.

From what I can gather from the last few eps, There seems to be a past

between Mr. Shaddy /HY and Gma and GGma , Mr. Shaddy keeps talking to

this strange guy on the phone, He even asked about EN. Another back from the dead ? thats a bit too much.

I love the scenes Between YM and JY they are so hilarious.

YM's green side started to show when JY was talking to a girl.

JY introduced her to GGma who game to the store.

EN's Gma tell her Sein's Mom called and told her about the meeting.

Jumi comes home her mom is there asleep on the sofa. Jumi thinks about what Sein Mom said

about Sein she turns away. Her mom wakes up , she goes in the room to talk to Jumi and as

per usual Jumi starts bickering about EN and Sein.

Her mother leaves and goes home, She arrives home only to see Mr. Shaddy.

She recognizes who he is and turns white as ghost.

WOW its quite strange how HY's past just keeps catching up to her lol .

I thought this drama would extend to 150, but thanks it will end sooner. I hope the mystery about HW's past is revealed this early, the greed and wrongdoing of Yonho in cahoots with Jumi are exposed now so we can have more happy episodes before the drama ends. Never mind Inae ... no one takes her seriously, not even her inept, useless husband and her nincompoop daughter look up to her.

I wonder how Sein's dad can recover from the shame he brought to himself. And Jumi ... is she totally to blame of what she has become? HW turned her to a proud, selfish, rude and arrogant person by spoiling her. She was made to think she's the center of the universe and can dictate on anyone who comes close to her. Yumi has to bear the brunt of her moods and volatile temper ...and her stepmom, the willing  shock absorber.

It's nice to see Sein wait for the right time to approach EN again ...

I love GGrandma ... she reminds me of my own, at times tactless but very loveable.

And Jinsuk ... the aunt everyone  would wish to have.

In the early days of this drama, Jumi was NOT the sort of person she is now.

That is something a few people in this thread have chosen to ignore (perhaps for their convenience or accidental ignorance, I'm not sure)

The simple question one should ask is therefore: what changed her?

Understanding what changed Jumi - the set of circumstances - is important because although you are free to continue to despise her, morning, noon and night - despise her for the right reasons and not for ones that are wrongly postulated.

This much we know (for those who diligently follow the discourses day after day):

She was the youngest employee of Green Foods ever promoted to her current managerial position. It made the business press headlines nationwide.

This was attested to time and again by Se In, her parents, CEO Cha, chairman founder and the two M&A consultants.

Meaning: she is in middle management so she's not an ordinary rank & file like EN. A middle manager's job is already tough & demanding, made even more so because her dept is the marketing dept - Jumi has to ensure their current products are selling well, funnel out new products and keep an eye on their main competition, Seomi Foods.

Jumi has even had direct access to chairman founder and even though she & Se In were chummier than chum in the early days, she never gave him any company favors, even though on many occasions, pretty boy begged her to turn a blind eye.

Talking about turning a blind eye, Jumi was the first company person EN told about her mistaken identity as Mrs Bart (just before then-CEO Cha found out later) and if you had paid attention to what happened in that scene and in that episode, you'd realize that Jumi as EN's direct superior, could have thrown the book at her and had Mrs Bart terminated and the drama would have ended then and there. (YIPPEE! HURRAY!! CLAP! CLAP!).

How many of you here actually remember that scene where EN thanked Jumi profusely for turning a blind eye? And then when then-CEO Cha & the chairman found out that EN was in fact NOT Mrs Bart, Jumi got an earful from her CEO, and was even threatened with disciplinary action for not being honest with the paperwork for EN.

In short, Jumi stuck her neck out for EN and was discovered by top mgt and was threatened with disciplinary action.

Secondly, Jumi was the ONE to give EN that one and only chance to stay within her department which proved to be the starting point for all things bad for Jumi.

The scriptwriter created Jumi to be a dedicated and loyal company worker but then purposely made her out to be a second-rate sister and daughter. Yun Mi hates her guts since day one and Jumi's age gap with Hong Gin is wider than the Han River. Of course never forget they're not blood siblings to begin with.

We were told through Yun Mi that Jumi doesn't contribute a single cent to the household but before you jump to the wrong conclusion, we later found out that Mr Hong indeed had refused to accept any money from Jumi, telling her in one tender scene between them that even as he retires and looks for a new career, he would never burden Jumi with supporting the family or paying YunMi's college fees as well.

That pivotal scene between Jumi & her father came AFTER we saw Jumi strongly disapprove of her father's initial plan to go into business on his own - and Jumi's sole objection within the family brought negative reactions from YunMi, Hwa Yeon and uncle Gyu Yeong. Despite Hwa Yeon's plea to go easy on her dad, Jumi stuck to her conviction that if her father went ahead and invested huge sums of money to start his own business, she would still not change her position because in that time of bad economic climate, she has seen too many men like her father fail in similar solo ventures. She explained this to both parents on one occasion and later she again repeated her views to her dad alone.

Should dad have taken heed of Jumi's views? Is Jumi's business sense more accurate than her father's?

Fact: Dad was only a salaried employee, was bypassed for promotion many times and worse, destined to be laid off.

Jumi on the hand is a university business major and is the youngest manager ever promoted to lead Green Love's marketing dept.

Folks, you decide.

Does anyone care to remember that pivotal scene when finally her dad told her he knows that Jumi's strong objections came only because of her love for him and what it might do to the family if his decision was wrong. So he kept delaying and delaying and as fate would have it, Jumi lent a helping hand to her dad using her power and influence within Green Love.

To me, and I don't expect many of you to see it in this way, Jumi is both eldest child and also de facto eldest son. Her dad knows Jumi to be a strong individual with strong opinions and convictions (my kind of korean woman) and she has enough 'cojones' than any of the male species in this drama. If that makes her the proverbial female dog, then I think some people here need serious re-education of their mindsets towards ambitious and successful korean women in the real corporate world.

Based solely on the past history of this drama (eps 1-83 so far), there is no evidence in my mind that Jumi was ever spoilt by Hwa Yeon. Just take a look at Jumi's bedroom and her bed - does it look like a spoilt girl's room? Jumi works late, comes home late, showers, have an argument with YunMi, then sleeps.

Jumi is THE TYPICAL Korean career woman - strong-willed, well-educated, quick-thinking, confident, speaks her mind, single-minded in both purpose and action, knows what she wants and knows how to get it, goal-oriented and has hunger for success - she's everything both SI & EN put together can never be.

Now when chimp face asks her to do his shady dealings the very first time, you could see on Jumi's face she knew what she was getting herself into. Refuse and she'd be sacked, don't you folks think so?

So like the loyal trooper, she did what she was ordered to by her superior but she was clever enough to inject her own spin on the ruse - in corporate parlance, she's watching her SIX.

It's not a simple case of IF I FALL, YOU FALL TOO. Jumi has been telling chimp face, IF I FALL, YOU FALL FIRST AND YOU"LL FALL HARDER, that is, he'll lose much more than his receding hairline and thinning eyebrows.

The fact that she's an AMBITIOUS young woman at the peak of her game may incite a slew of other labels - negative descriptors which some of you here have already thrown at her - but let me then ask you the following:

1. Did Jumi sleep her way to the top? I don't have to spell out the answer, right? Also notice when Jumi speaks to her superiors, she doesn't use any unnecessary feminine wiles or make sexy eyes. She's just direct and blunt.

2. Who was it who gave EN that one chance to remain in the company even after it was established she wasn't Mrs Bart?

3. When Korean parents send their daughters to korean universities (tuition fees that cost an arm and a leg nowadays) and then they make it to middle management, do you expect these capable korean females to be subservient, fickle-minded, speak softly and cries all the time when things go south?

4. Would you let your chosen fiance & childhood friend be stolen by another, and do nothing? You want Jumi to act like nothing happened?

5. Would you allow your company reputation which you've built be tarnished by a subordinate whose only reason being in the company is due to your own graces?

6. Would you allow that same pain-in-the-butt (PITB) subordinate after robbing you of your boyfren, now start to slowly steal your mother away?

7. How would you feel watching your family members one by one warming up to the same PITB and worse, that PITB happens to be your mother's REAL daughter, and that's because you ARE the FAKE daughter.

Is it Jumi's fault AND is it her own doing that she's the FAKE daughter? Or should the blame be passed to the woman who made her so?

Now other than the obvious fact both are called Hwa Yeon's daughters, there is ONE KEY DIFFERENCE between Jumi & EN - EN can always run back to her loving grannies even if Hwa Yeon rejects her.

Jumi on the other hand has no known blood relations - the Hongs are the only parents she'll ever have - and if Hwa Yeon chooses you-know-who, Jumi has no grannies or grandads to turn to.

Please don't get me wrong - it's never my intention of 'imposing' my views on anyone in this thread - we're all free to interpret this drama & its characters the way we're free to live our own lives, wherever we are.

By all means despise the one you choose to despise but at least base it on what has actually happened in the drama and not on some pre-conceived notions or purported events that wasn't presented in the storyline.

Jumi's father is related to her by blood and also her half sister and half brother. She grew up with both parents because she never knew about her mother not being her birth mother till recently. So she had a better childhood than eunnim who grew up as an orphan raised by grandparents.I just see her as a very self

absorbed person. She never really noticed or cared that Sein was never in love with her and she so easily discounts what her stepmother did for her all her life.

I find her character pretty scary.

KBSW p 84....a bad day at the office OR the day the music stopped and there isn't a chair left for Jumi to hide under....

....which is why even as Mr Lee (sacked by Seomi Foods) is singing the truth to SI, with the help of a mini-voice recorder, Jumi can only sit on the steps in her office and ponder her next move...it's not too difficult to imagine Jumi might once again use the same tactic when SI grills her with the voice evidence from Mr Lee.....more on this later.

The mystery over how the speedy Hongs reached the hospital before the ambulance was because EN had initially taken him (presumably in SI's car) to another hospital and she later decided it'd be best to move him to a 'bigger hospital'. I assume the doctor at the country hospital didn't exactly know how or was equipped to treat an unconscious boy suffering from high fever.

Oh and remember...the next time you're at a Korean hospital and you hear lots of shouting, just relax....they're probably shooting a k-drama. Another obvious giveaway is a few overdressed people walking around looking more tense and worried than the real patients and being followed by bright lights.

Now it did not escape Jumi's quick mind when she saw SI at the hospital with EN - she asked him if he was there at the outing but he didn't answer (in k-dramas no answer means YES).

Jumi should have scolded pretty boy then and there: DON'T YOU HAVE WORK TO DO AT THE COMPANY ESPECIALLY NOW THAT YOUR OWN DAD IS IN DEEP POOP UP TO HIS NOSE HAIR? YOU DROVE ALL THE WAY OUT THERE JUST TO SEE YOUR EN AND PLAY SOCCER WITH JIN DURING COMPANY TIME?

The chaps who play the bit-role of doctors in k-dramas usually are funny specimens and today was just the latest offering - the clown...err doctor...who came out to convey the good news that Jin's fever had gone down delivered the news while twitching his eyebrows up and down. Well I suppose a doctor with dancing eyebrows is a wee better than a doctor who speaks in a ROBOTIC monotone like Arnie in Terminator...I"LL BE BACK WHEN YOUR SON WAKES UP OR STOPS BREATHING.

Speaking of twitching eyebrows, did you approve of cheesy uncle Gyu Yeong's multiple attempts (calls that Sera wisely didn't pick up) at asking Sera out for nutritional purposes? And then the classic look of sheer horror of horrors on Sera's face when she suddenly realises her uncle hairdresser now wants to touch other parts of her anatomy.

Yup, life will never be the same once you become THE CHOSEN ONE by older man afflicted with early onset of male menopause.

Now back to Jumi...but I'll start with SI....actor Jay wears only one facial expression whenever he sees Jumi:

he looks the same before when he suspects Jumi to be the one who framed EN

he looks the same when he finds out from the recorder that Jumi framed EN

he will still look the same when he confronts Jumi with the e-vi-dence tomorrow.

I think upon discovery of her mis-deed tomorrow, actress Yoon Ah Jung is going to put on several varying degrees of panic, fear and anger (not necessarily in that order) which is why I admire her villainess role so much.

If you know Jumi by now, I'd expect her to make no bones about what she did and even why she did it, to once again bombard pretty hair boy with the hard truth and link everything to EN.

In that respect, Jumi will blame EN from the beginning to end (we don't expect Jumi to have any other reason now, do we?) and as ridiculous as that may sound, perhaps we should hold judgement and wait for the official company follow-up action on Jumi. Remember now Jumi has THAT trump card which she can play on chimpanzee face as a last resort, maybe...but certainly it ain't over until the fat lady sings.

Jumi's father? Are you referring to Mr Hong or is it a new character soon-to-be introduced?

If you are referring to Mr Hong as Jumi's real father, I'm afraid you've got that totally wrong.

In a recent post, I have actually painted the exact sequence from the moment EN's father died to the moment Hwa Yeon left the family taking the family savings and then Hwa Yeon meeting baby Jumi on her own before she met and married Mr Hong.

These are not my presumptions but are what was described in the first 10-12 episodes and again repeated from eps 18-24.

The repetitions is the writer's way of ensuring the korean viewers NOT get confused but the same cannot be said of a few folks in this thread. A few of you are determined to insert your own scenarios into this drama and that is something I myself will never understand.

If you had been paying attention, Jumi has always known she was adopted. It was not a recent discovery as you put it.

I can quote the exact earlier episodes for anyone who's interested (I have the entire 84 episodes to date aired by KBSW) or you can choose to believe what you want based on wrong understanding of what has happened in past episodes.

While it is true EN was raised by her grandma, and grandma's mother in law, EN was never an orphan because an orphan is a child whose parents are deceased. Hwa Yeon abandoned EN, she did not die so EN cannot be termed as an 'orphan'.

Nomenclature such as this cannot be over-simplified because then you merely end up distorting the English Language AND the drama's storyline and English is only my third language - Japanese & Korean being the other two.

Daunte29's defence of JM is quite impressive, but me thinks her presence is solely to create a contrast to EN. Assuming that there are many less educated, less attractive, working class families in Korea, many Korean women may be able to identify themselves with EN?

But the writer's aims aside, JM is sheer nasty, spiteful, utterly lacking in moral courage, envious, which are all the characteristics that I detest in a person... male or female. I know many women higher up the corporate ladder than JM and from many countries too ( not Korea), they are not perfect but certainly nothing like JM.

I must have missed some episode because I thought that Mr Hong was the biological father who married his current wife after his first wife died. When I wrote orphan that is what EN believed she was .She never knew that her mother was alive and had abandoned her.

I was not defending Jumi but rather I was trying to give a wider character spectrum than the narrow ones which many of you prefer.

Many people in this thread have been using the same old adjectives for Jumi since Day One and yet the story has taken some twists and turns and indeed many korean viewers love this drama precisely because of what Jumi has done! They even say Jumi could have done more to get rid of the other wimps in this drama.

Korean viewers identify more than one bad female in this drama and most interestingly, the Korean viewers, predominantly female, use a different set of negative adjectives for Jumi, quite unlike what we read here in this thread.

But in painting her as a bad woman, they love her even more because of the things she dares to do, even in the face of certain discovery by management and the high risks involved.

According to most Korean viewers of this drama, Jumi started off as the main female to be hated but as of 2 weeks ago, the tide of hatred has shifted to another female in the drama.

Nonetheless I can never defend Jumi because she does not exist.

And that is why I find it most interesting that a person who doesn't exist can command so much emotions from real folks in this thread.

I think Jumi should go look for her bilological parents.I am sure someone in her family needs a organ from her.Ha ha ha!

Be careful what you wish for...it might come true!!

The sequel to this drama in 2012...Jumi's search for her biological parents which results in Jumi having to donate her bone marrow to her newfound sister, and then a part of her liver to her newfound brother and lastly a skin graft from her bum for her mother to have the same smooth skin as Jumi.

And then Hwa Yeon later admits that Jumi's biological mum is actually Hwa Yeon's identical twin sister and that's when complications and confusion blurs everything out.

Seriously though, as of now at ep 84, I still don't know how and where Hwa Yeon met baby Jumi and 'adopted' her....the writer hasn't used words like 'orphanage' and so I find it strange that a single woman would be allowed to adopt a baby.

Details are sketchy and I have re-visited the early episodes where Mr Hong tells Hwa Yeon how happy she looked to him when he first met Hwa Yeon who was already WITH baby Jumi - in other words, Hwa Yeon & Jumi were already paired when Mr Hong presumably started dating HY - he was not part of the equation because Jumi came into HY's life first before Mr Hong dropped in.

I'm hoping the writer will reveal these obscured misty details by Nov 4 or maybe she's hoping that little fact escapes everyone's attention because the main mystery is WHY did Hwa Yeon abandon EN 25 years ago soon after her first husband passed away?
