‘신인 배우를 발굴하려면 패션쇼장으로 가라?’

  한때 광고 모델이 신인 배우의 등용문이던 시절이 있었다. 1980~1990년대에는 TV CF나 지면 광고로 뜬 신인이 연기자로 입문하는 사례가 많았다. 2000년대에 들어서는 아이돌 그룹을 보유한 가요 기획사가 신인 연기자들의 사관학교 역할을 대신했다. 멀티 엔터테이너 시대가 되면서 대형 가요 기획사에서 ‘될성부른 떡잎’들을 싹쓸이했기 때문이다. 하지만 요즘은 그 자리를 모델 에이전시가 대체하는 분위기다.
  
  

  최근 1980~1990년대생 배우들을 중심으로 패션모델 출신들이 각광을 받고 있다. 물론 모델 출신 배우의 계보는 이전에도 있었다. 차승원을 비롯해 소지섭, 조인성, 송승헌, 강동원 등이 그들이다. 하지만 이들이 배우로서 연기력을 인정받는 데는 오랜 시간이 걸렸다. 그에 비한다면 요즘은 진입 장벽이 크게 낮아진 데다 데뷔 초기부터 신인 같지 않은 탄탄한 연기력을 구사하는 이들도 많다.
  
  요사이 중국 등 동남아에서 신한류 스타로 꼽히는 4인방은 이민호, 김수현, 이종석(왼쪽), 김우빈(오른쪽) 등이다. 이들은 한류가 주춤해진 일본 대신 새로운 한류의 주 무대로 떠오른 중국에서 한류스타 세대교체에 성공하고 있다는 평가를 받고 있다. 이 가운데 이종석과 김우빈은 패션모델 출신이다.
  
  최근 방송가에서 급부상 중인 배우들 중에도 패션모델 출신이 많다. 지난달 27일 종영한 ‘별에서 온 그대’에서 천송이 동생 천윤재 역으로 주목받은 안재현도 패션모델 출신이고, tvN ‘로맨스가 필요해 시즌3’의 남자 주인공 역을 꿰찬 성준 역시 모델 출신이다. 지난달 24일 첫 방송한 케이블 채널 SBS 플러스의 드라마 ‘여자만화 구두’는 모델 홍종현을 남자 주인공 오태수 역에 발탁했다. 드라마 ‘뿌리깊은 나무’ 등에 출연해 깊은 인상을 남기며 모델에서 배우로 전향한 이수혁도 최근 배우 김남길의 소속사에 둥지를 틀었다.
  
  상황이 이렇다 보니 요즘 매니저들은 신인을 발굴하기 위해 패션쇼장이나 패션 관련 행사장에 눈독을 들인다. 아예 회사 차원에서 모델 에이전시와 계약을 맺는 경우도 있다. 유명 연예 기획사인 나무액터스와 HB엔터테인먼트는 다수의 톱 모델이 소속된 모델 에이전시 에스팀과 업무 제휴를 맺었다. 모델들에게 연기를 가르치고 될성부른 신인들을 발굴해 연기자로 데뷔시키려는 것이다. 최근 차승원, 최지우 등을 영입하며 배우 인력을 강화한 YG엔터테인먼트도 지난달 모델 170여명이 소속된 모델컴퍼니 K플러스와 전략적 제휴 및 지분 투자 계약을 했다.
  
  업계 관계자들은 모델 출신 배우들이 각광받는 이유에 대해 “다수의 무대 경험을 통해 화면 장악력에 대한 훈련이 돼 있을 뿐만 아니라 신체 여건이 좋아 패션 소화력이 뛰어나기 때문”이라고들 말한다. 한 연예 기획사의 대표는 “최근 대중 선호도가 얼굴보다는 신체적 조건을 중시하는 쪽으로 바뀌고, 모델들 사이에서도 데뷔 전 연기 연습에 많은 시간을 투자하는 등 ‘준비된 연기자’가 많아지고 있다”면서 “이 같은 추세가 한류스타의 세대교체로까지 이어진 것”이라고 분석했다.

[TV리포트=조혜련 기자] 씨스타 보라가 드라마 ‘닥터 이방인’을 통해 처음으로 정극 연기에 도전한다.

3일 한 연예 관계자는 TV리포트에 “씨스타 보라가 SBS 새 월화드라마 ‘닥터 이방인’에 캐스팅 확정됐다”고 알렸다.

‘닥터 이방인’(박진우 극본, 진혁 연출)에서 보라는 중성적인 매력이 물씬 풍기는 탈북여성 이청이로 분한다. 극중 박훈(이종석 분)을 형이라 부를 정도로 사내의 느낌이 가득하지만 실상은 박훈을 짝사랑하고 있는 인물로, 탈북 후 박훈의 곁에서 함께 생활하게 된다.

2010년 씨스타로 데뷔한 이후 다수의 예능프로그램을 통해 모습을 보여준 바 있는 보라는 씨스타 뮤직비디오에서 연기 한 경험은 있으나, 정극 연기는 이번이 처음이다. 일일드라마 주인공으로 활약중인 씨스타 멤버 다솜의 뒤를 이어 두 번째로 연기돌 타이틀에 도전장을 내민다.

한편 SBS 새 월화 드라마 ‘닥터 이방인’은 탈북 의사가 한국 최고의 병원에 근무하게 되면서 벌어지는 이야기를 그린 메디컬 첩보 멜로 드라마로 ‘찬란한 유산’ ‘검사 프린세스’ ‘시티헌터’ ‘주군의 태양’ 등을 연출한 진혁 감독과 ‘한성별곡-正’ ‘바람의 나라’를 집필한 박진우 작가가 의기투합하는 작품. 보라 외에도 이종석 박해진 진세연 강소라 등이 함께한다. ‘신의 선물 –14’일 후속으로 오는 4월 방송 될 예정이다.

hello to all!!
those shots of areas where 'dr. stranger' are going to shoot are getting me so excited for the drama ...as well as that of sukkie with the fierce look in his eyes ...and that on the jeep!! hahaha!!
though i think that sukkie's look is not much different from his previous drama IHYV ...hair-wise ...but i guess it may take a different look in his eyes ... as well as mannerism which may differ! so ...i am hoping that the hair style will change later in the drama ...give him a more manly look!!

the two dramas up against sukkie's are truly good dramas too!!  and they are different from each other ...and the actors in the other dramas are senior (i am not saying old here okay! hahahaha ...i mean in work exprerience!) so may have some followings already!  its going to be a good competition ...and i really think sukkie is going to pull through!! i have a GOOD feeling about this rania!!  just as long as the story is gripping enough ...so lets pray hard for that!! hahahaha!
