It's not that I must get the last word but I just need to get this off my chest. I got more upset than I thought I'd be and I am glad some of you wrote insightful and comforting words, they helped me.

But it continued to bug me and I realize the thing which bothered me most was the possibility that Bridal Mask was left out of the nominees for Best Drama because of political sensitivities. I think it's a shame and setback for the industry. Let me illustrate by taking this to the extreme, if everyone were to produce dramas which are "safe" we will never get masterpieces like "Schindler's List" , "Letters from Iwo Jima" , "City of Life and Death"(an awesome movie on the Nanking occupation) just to name a few.

If you have watched Bridal Mask, you'd realized it's not even about the Japanese Occupation of Korea per se but a moving story about how one man, an ordinary and flawed human being who started his journey with less than noble motives but end up being a hero and inspiration to his people. A story about how anyone, literally the man on the street, can fight for his or her own right to live in a free world.

I am not saying this for Joo Won's sake because he might even benefit from it in the sense that he can get to promote 7LCS without worrying about backlash from Japan right-wingers. I just think that it's a wrong message to send to the industry and that we as viewers are the ones who lose out ultimately.
