i watched A Moment To Remember a while ago and i cried so much at that one scene where she was playing baseball after she found out she had alzheimer's disease. omg....that was soo sad. She's like one of my favorite actresses of all time now.

You mean this one? It happened to be my favourite scene too. Initially just listening to the background music would make my eyes wet too. Ye jin's acting in this scene was powerful if you noticed the development of her mood from being defiant to totally crushed.

Worst of all, they asked stupid questions about boobs. The first question they posed to BYJ was to ask him whose boobs were better - that of Ye jin or the female char in Untold Scandal. How can BYJ answer this question without sounding condescending to woman and bad to one of the actresses?

Then they asked Ye jin how do she take care of her boobs....must have hit Ye jin as a kind of culture shock. You only asked such questions to certain female celebrities who are famous because of how they flaunt their boobs...you don't pose such question to any actress...

yups.. i completely agree. it's like totally surreal. anyways, this just reflects on how trashy sg's chinese newspapers are. there're tabloids. and the reporters doing this spread were really insensitive and rude..

OMG the letter...

The scene in which JWS reads the letter always manages to make me cry... not only teary, but really bursting out... the words are so sad, emotional, yet beautiful. I can feel their pain, both of them really do a good job. They have such good chemistry, right from the beginning of the movie, and it builds up as the story goes on...

Oh, and the baseball scene too...it's so good...

JWS's performance and ye jin's voice here were unbelieveable. Everytime I see this scene, I have to hold back my tears.

^ Yes I do think YJ looks best in SS as I've mentioned earlier and that letter scene was the most heartbreaking scene in the movie to me, both actors really were so great in there with their emotional outbreaks.

MAJOR SPOILERS - Best read after you have watched the film

This review is for the Director’s Cut version of ‘Eraser’ or ‘A Moment To Remember’.

Personally I enjoy the Director’s Cut a lot more because many of the plots are fully developed and

there are lovely little details all over the place which make the story more convincing.

Unlike ‘The Classic’, AMTR is lacking in poetic beauty but herein is the attraction for me. It is

more like real life to me. The love between Chul Soo and Su Jin feels real to me. Much have been

written about AMTR already, I would like to expand on two main plots of the film and then show some

highlights.

Major plot 1: Chul Soo and Su Jin healed each other of their past

This subplot tried to convince the audience the importance of Chul Soo and Su Jin to each other.

(Waiting for a man that never turned up)

In the Director’s Cut, you will learn that Su Jin was not completely over her relationship with the

ex-boyfriend when she met Chul Soo and started dating with him. There was a scene whereby Su Jin

finally went to the house she lived with Yong Min (the married ex-boyfriend) and finally packed up

all her things and dropped the keys into the mail box.

If she has not met Chul Soo, she would still be suffering from this relationship. She loved Yong

Min so much that she was ready to forgo her family and go through any kind of persecution to be

with him. She also told her brain specialist that she ‘felt like dying’ when Yong Min didn’t turn

up at the train station.

Su Jin is a woman who put love as her first priority in life. She would do anything for her love.

Whether her man was a married man or a lowly carpenter, as long as she loved him, she would give

herself to him completely. Love was the reason for Su Jin’s existence.

By falling in love with Chul Soo, the hurting from her relationship with Yong Min was healed. In

the Director’s Cut, there were more scenes showing Su Jin courting Chul Soo. As the saying goes,

falling in love is the best medicine for the last failed relationship.

Su Jin had a lot more to do to heal Chul Soo of his past. Chul Soo just met his mother about 3

years ago in the movie. He was dumped by his mother since young and was treated badly by the old

carpenter who brought him up. Hence he was a loner and had no faith in relationships. As far as

he was concerned “life can be very cruel” and “no one can be happy forever”.

(A real carpenter can build a house in his heart)

She convinced Chul Soo to use his hard-earned savings to pay the debts of his mother. In the

process, they lost the dream home they wanted to build. Obviously this was a huge blow for the

couple who had already went to the land earmarked for their new home and even planned the layout of

their new home. The scene that Su Jin comforted Chul Soo by snatching his cigarette and doing his

card trick was heart-warming and lovely. When Chul Soo said that “we have no more money”, Su Jin

said “No problem, I will pay for this meal. See! I promise to buy you dinner”

(Couple went to the site of their new dream home and Chul Soo pretending that he came through the

door and off the tap that Su Jin forgot to off...)

Their relationship also taught Chul Soo about relationships. In another scene which was only in

the Director’s Cut, Chul Soo explained his design of the new house he was commissioned to build.

In the explanation, he told Su Jin how he got the inspiration from Su Jin’s family gatherings and

how people moved in such a gathering. The joy and warmth of Su Jin’s family gatherings with their

relatives was something that Chul Soo had never experienced.

Major plot 2: Their reactions and struggles on Alzhemier’s disease

(Hit by lightning)

Immediately after Su Jin learnt about her condition, she didn’t know what to

do. She could not even tell Chul Soo because she needed to make a choice. In

the next few scenes that followed the revelations, you could see conflicting

emotions.

(Looking at her man lovingly and reluctantly)

Su Jin had always been brave and fought for her love. Could she ever win in

this fight against Alzhemier?

She could not bear to leave Chul Soo because finally she had found the perfect

man in her life. (Not many people can claim to have found the right person in

their lives) She fought so hard to convince Chul Soo about their relationship

and then with her father and now she had to leave him. Did she have any

choice? Will she inflict too much pain on Chul Soo by staying with him?

Deep down inside she knew that sooner or later she would lose Chul Soo because

she would lose the memories of their love, of Chul Soo and even herself. How

much more time did Su Jin have to spend with Chul Soo? Should she bear him a

child before she leaves him? Is there time for all these?

(Is there time?)

The incident where Su Jin was lost on the street and bumped into Yong Min

finally convinced Su Jin to break up with Chul Soo. She realized that she had

forgotten about Chul Soo momentarily and then she would not be herself anymore.

In the next baseball court scene, she asked to break up with Chul Soo.

"Let's split up. What is love good for without memory?"

Chul Soo, on the other hand, was still unaware of what he would be facing. His

first reaction was to hope for a cure and to take care of Su Jin and to keep

her with him. He did not realize the extent of the sorrow and agony he would

have to go through by living with a Su Jin without memory.

In one incident, he doubted their love when Su Jin called out the name of her

ex-lover and he asked the brain specialist “Who does she really love?”

"She misses the old days with her ex"

Finally Su Jin made the logical choice, which was also the most painful choice

for the two of them, to terminate their relationship.

(Although you have never said you loved me, I know you love me deeply)

I heard from an ABS-CBN (one uv da largest TV network in Phil) insider tat they are da one who luckily got da rightz to locally release AS here in Manila.

Tentatively da unveilin' full trailer will embark on October 25 `en showin on theaterz da mid uv November.

Isnt tat a great gift on Christmas??.... Callin' ma sis... jhing, hazel_witch, Hae-won, ems, hallen, liezle, frances `en otherz... Lez rejoice!!!

Just my little opinion...my friends & i felt that we prefer SYJ to do the silent crying scenes instead of that little screaming at the open field...We felt that her quiet crying scenes...from the eyes and emotions she has generated is good enough to let us feel sad........

As for the bed scene, it is good that she is venturing into something she has not done before....

For an actor/actress, you can't always choose those "safe" or "sterotype" roles.......you will never improve.

I applaused her for doing something different from her previous movies/dramas...

Regarding her loud crying after returning from the victim's funeral, it was one of those loud and unpleasant crying. Note that Ye jin has proven to be very good at crying 'beautifully' but I think the crying was different in that scene. Seo young was crying out of anger and frustration. At that point, she was already at the brink of breaking down because of the betrayal of her husband. She was angry at her husband. Worst still, the victim's family blamed her for causing the victim's death. She felt so miserable and upset with her circumstances that she broke down and had to let go her emotion.

Contrast her crying just before leaving Samcheok and In su (after Seo young's husband death), the crying was tender, moving and beautiful because it was out of love.

That scene was very emotional. Because of her incident with Yong Min (her ex-BF) in which she lost her memories momentarily and recovered them, she realised she no longer has a choice but to leave Chui soo because she could no longer be a normal person.

After she learnt of her condition, she was in a state of confusion. She could not bear to leave him but she was not sure how to due with the situation.

Imagine Su jin fought so hard to convince Chui soo of their love and her family to let her married Chui soo, and now she has to leave him? ....

Keep this in mind and you can feel the pain of Su jin at the baseball court scene.

Film 'Oe Chool (April Snow) double happy events!

After ascending to the top in history with breaking 2.2 mil (audience) in Japan, will advance to US.

The film 'Oe Chool(April Snow)'(Director-Hur Jinho, Producer-Bluestorm), featuring BYJ & SYJ broke 2 million audience mobilization on the past 9, in 23 days since its opening, and exceeded 2.2 million on 13, recording the most audience mobilization among Korean films in the history which opened in Japan.

Its Japanese distributor, UIP, advertised this fact in a large-scale in the evening edition of the Yomiuri on 13 and the evening edition of the Asahi newspaper on 14. As there is gradual expansion of understanding of the film, the prospect is that it would even break 3 million audience in the shortest period of time and break the top box-office income record in the history with the last minute box-office drive, by extending the planned screening from until 21 to 28, and by increasing number of screening from 5 to 6 times a day.

The film 'Oe Chool'(Japanese title 'April Snow') continued unchanged popularity even in the 4th week since opening by taking 7th place in weekend box-office by Japanese Box-office Communication Company(Announced on 12), and 6th place in weekly box-office by Biglobe(announced on 14). In particular, in case of 'Oe Chool(April Snow)', being differenf from other films, it shows unique phenomenon of audience flocking more on weekdays than weekends, and more during the daytime.

On the other hand, as the Click Stars of US has purchased the film 'Oe Chool(April Snow)' at a high price during the 10th PIFF and is planning to open it in entire US beginning in Hawaii in coming end of November, so that it seems that the wind of film 'Oe Chool(April Snow)' would blow also in North America, considering that it received a high critical evaluation as it was invited successively by the 30th Toronto International Film Festival and the 24th Vancouver Film Festival.

The selling price was known to be equivalent amount of money to film 'Kind Miss Geumja', the highest price for exporting film to US in the history (in Korea), and the Click Stars is a concert promotion company as well as talent agency managed by Korean American, Seo Wonjoon, and they told that the company expressed extraordinary enthusiasm about opening (the film) in US.

The Rob Fried Films will be in charge of distribution of the film, and it plans to introduce it to entire US in full scale beginning with Hawaiian opening. The opening in US in this time has great significance as it is a full-scale advance different from the past Korean films which opened with limitation during 'Asian film week' or mainly for Korean community.
