Actor Song Joong Ki went to his younger sister’s hooding ceremony at Seoul National University.

 

On August 30, Song Joong Ki’s older brother took to his Instagram to share great news.

 

 

Along with two photos, he wrote, “My sister who was this little has become a Doctor. The first doctoral degree holder in our family! I can’t feel prouder.”

 

He excitedly went on, “She did her PhD at Seoul National University! Yes, I’m showing off right now. Haha!”

 

In the first photo, there was a photo of him, Song Joong Ki and their sister together when they were very young.

 

 

The next photo was of the siblings standing next to each other in front of the Seoul National University College of Medicine.

 

His sister is shyly smiling in an academic dress with a bouquet of flowers and her PhD certificate in her hands in the middle.

 

Song Joong Ki has his arm around his sister’s shoulders, and shows a bright smile while holding another bouquet of flowers for her.

 

He looked happy and proud of his sister’s incredible achievement.

 

 

Seoul National University is considered the most prestigious university in Korea; their medical school is certainly the top one in the country.

Not every Korean actor and actress wants to become today's famous superstars. Some didn't even want the stardom. Some of these stars had to give up on their childhood dreams of becoming actors and actresses. For some, it was willing, but others had no choice but to let their dream go. We tend to assume that many of these people are fulfilling their dreams because of how they carry themselves and are presented to the world. But this isn't true for many of them.

Taebaek Couple Festival to resume after four years this weekend

The Taebaek Couple Festival, first held in 2017, was inspired by lead actors Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo of the hit KBS series "Descendants of The Sun" (2016) who met while filming and tied the knot in 2017. The couple split in 2019. [KBS]

 
The Taebaek Couple Festival, inspired by the hit KBS K-drama “Descendants of The Sun” (2016) will resume after a four-year break at the Descendants of the Sun Park in Taebaek, Gangwon.
 
According to city officials, this year’s Taebaek Couple Festival will be held this Saturday and Sunday.
 
The festival first started in May 2017 after the Descendants of the Sun Park was founded on the set of the hit K-drama. The festival features activities for couples like a hugging competition and other games, as well as a wedding-themed photoshoot for married couples.

 

The first festival garnered over 17,000 visitors and proved to be a successful tourist attraction. The second festival in July 2018 had 9,000 visitors.

The festival was especially popular as a romantic event since the protagonists of the show, actors Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, met while filming the series and tied the knot in 2017. The marriage of the two K-drama stars, dubbed the “Song-Song couple,” received much public attention and news coverage.
 
However, when the city was in the midst of preparing for the third event in June 2019, news broke that the couple had filed for divorce. The third festival was canceled abruptly.
 
While the city at the time reportedly considered abolishing the festival altogether, it decided to continue on with the franchise. However, it was unable to host the festivals in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Song Joong-ki's gangster film 'Hwaran' starts shooting

 

 

Korean heartthrob Song Joong-ki’s new crime movie "Hwaran" -- meaning disaster or chaos -- started shooting on Sept. 13 at a site in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, according to the film’s distributor Megabox Joongang Plus M.

 

Directed by Kim Chang-hoon, the film revolves around Yun-kyu, who wants to escape from his everyday struggles. One day, Yun-kyu meets a crime organization’s underboss Chi-gun (Song) and becomes involved in risky situations.

 

“I am glad to be part of the ‘Hwaran’ project, and I also have mixed feelings about this new film as it is a challenge for me. I am excited to be at the filming site with passionate actors and director,” Song said in a statement.

 

Rookie actor Hong Sa-bin, who has left a strong impression in a number of short films, including “On Leave” directed by Kim Kun-hwi and “Save Me” directed by Ku Ji-yoon, plays Yun-kyu.

 

Solo K-pop artist BiBi, who kicked off her acting career last year in horror movie “Whispering Corridors 6: The Humming,” directed by Lee Mi-young, stars as Yun-kyu's sister.

Song Joong Ki, Shin Hyun Been, and Lee Sung Min’s upcoming drama “Reborn Rich” confirmed details of the cast and broadcasting schedule!

 

Based on a hit web novel, “Reborn Rich” is a fantasy drama set in the turbulent ’80s about a chaebol family’s secretary Yoon Hyun Woo (Song Joong Ki) who is reborn as the family’s youngest son Jin Do Joon (also played by Song Joong Ki).

 

Song Joong Ki will play Yoon Hyun Woo, who dies after being framed for embezzlement by the Sunyang Group family that he had remained loyal to. He is reborn as the family’s youngest son Jin Do Joon and works to take over the company as revenge.

 

Lee Sung Min was previously confirmed for the role of Jin Yang Chul, the head of Sunyang Group. After growing up in poverty, he climbed to the top of the financial world and has become a relentlessly competitive and harsh character with endless greed for money.

 

Shin Hyun Been will be playing anti-corruption investigation prosecutor Seo Min Young who is from a prestigious legal family. With the nickname of “Sunyang Group’s grim reaper,” Seo Min Young will approach the boundaries of legality if it is for the sake of serving justice.

 

Furthermore, Yoon Je Moon has been cast as Jin Yang Chul’s oldest son Jin Young Ki, while Kim Jung Nam will play Son Jung Rae, Jin Young Ki’s wife who has the typical chaebol mindset and a careless personality. Jo Han Chul will take on the role of Jin Yang Chul’s second eldest son Jin Dong Ki who is great at using his brain for petty tricks. The production team shared, “‘Reborn Rich’ is a life-reset story of one man who is at death’s door but revives as the youngest son of a chaebol family in 1987. The relationships of these carefully woven characters on top of a time of upheaval will deliver enjoyment [to viewers] that is on another level.”
